Summary: All they planned to do was hunt the demon down and return home. She didn't expect to run into her big brother, and she never intended to end up in outer space thanks to a blue robotic lion! Kagome's caught up in another war, but the timing of it all couldn't be worse- considering she's carrying a certain demon lord's pups. A protective demon was certainly a deadly beast to foes.

Pairing: Kagome x Sesshoumaru

Redoing this story.

Prologue

"Are you sure you're fit to travel like this, Kagome?"

Upon hearing the gentle voice, the ravenette in question paused in her motions of organizing her bag. She glanced over her shoulder with a small nod, a smile on her face as she looked at her mother for a brief moment. She paused, pressing a hand onto her slightly swollen abdomen, and sighed softly. "I'll be just fine, Mama," she said, her tone reassuring the older woman. "Anyway, it's not like Sesshoumaru's going to let anything bad happen to me- if there was even a chance of it," she added with a laugh. On cue, the stoic demon on the other side of the room let out a mild noise- presumably of agreement.

Kun-Loon smiled and nodded, giving in and believing her daughter's words. After all, she'd endured a lot, and she knew that the younger woman was strong.

"Thanks for looking after Rin and Masaru while we're gone," Kagome said once she'd finished packing everything that could possibly be needed into her bulky yellow bag. She'd put a spell on it long ago that upped all that it could carry, and she kept finding new things to shove in there, it seemed. "I'm not sure how long we'll be gone, but hopefully it won't be too long."

Kun-Loon shook her head and flipped her hand in a dismissive wave. "You don't need to thank your mother for this," she said with a giggle. "Any extra time I get with my grandbabies is always welcome. You know that."

Kagome smiled at her mother's response. Rin, while she didn't exactly need any sort of constant guardianship due to being sixteen in human appearance, never complained about spending hours and hours on end with the older woman. She definitely preferred the company over being on her own, at least. Little Masaru, however, was only a year and a half old, and required a lot more attention than his older sister.

Kagome closed her bag and sighed softly under her breath.

She couldn't shake that feeling that she was sensing more than just a demon, but she wasn't sure. For all she knew, it could just be her mind playing tricks on her. She shook her head to clear her thoughts and set her hands on her hips with an affirmative nod.

"Okay! All set to leave when you are, Sesshoumaru!"

This shouldn't be happening! Right now, they should've been back home. She berated herself for allowing her curiosity to get the better of her.

To say this was a new situation to her was a complete understatement. Of course, she was no stranger to bizarre and, frankly, unpredictable circumstances. She had, after all, gotten pulled down a well and five-hundred years into the past by a demon six whole years ago. Then, sure enough, she'd chosen to keep going down the well over and over again.

This, however, was a far cry from that experience.

Soaring through the sky as a precarious passenger in a large, blue, mechanical cat-robot was where she was going to draw the line! Even if she happened to be in a much safer position than the others aboard with her. Still! This wasn't ideal for her. It was so far from ideal!

The clawed hand resting on the back of her head, paired with the strong arm curled around her shoulders, kept her braced against a sturdy chest. The embrace left her a bit more calm than she would've been without it- which she was beyond grateful for.

Kagome squeezed her eyes shut, trying to ignore every unpredictable twist and spin this thing did. She was surprised that Sesshoumaru hadn't snapped yet, but feeling the irritation boiling inside him under the warmth of his skin, she knew it was about to get really ugly in the cramped space very soon if things didn't settle down- and soon. The panicked screaming only added to the dangerous ire he possessed, considering his heightened senses.

She was relieved, however. He was much more focused on keeping her safe than killing the others around them. That was a positive, at least, and she'd sure as hell take it.

How did she even get into a situation like this?

This would be the last time she'd allow her curiosity to get the better of her. She knew that, surely, Sesshoumaru would resonate with that thought tenfold.

If she had just ignored this entire thing, its aura in the first place, then they'd likely already be back home all the way in Japan by now, and she'd be able to take a nice, long nap.

Well, that was over quickly.

Kagome let her bow evaporate into a flitter of pink sparkles, a soft sigh falling from her lips as she slumped her shoulders some. At the same time, she turned blue eyes to glance at the silent demon standing only a few feet away from her, disinterestedly threading a clawed hand through his silken hair.

The demon they'd tracked down was now nothing more than a pile of ash that'd been carried away with the wind by now. Kagome folded her arms over her chest and eyed the silent figure, a mild pout on her face.

"I'll have you know," she began, a slight huff in her tone, "I had that completely handled." Sesshoumaru turned golden eyes her way at the comment.

She hadn't needed him to take care of the demon with his whip just because it was faster than what she could hit with her arrows. Even if it'd lunged at her, it would've been purified before it could even touch her! It had been a low-ranking demon, and it would've been reduced to ash due to her energy if it got an inch too close to her. "I'm not the same girl I was when I was fifteen, Sess," she commented, "I'm a lot stronger now." Kagome glared stubbornly at his stoic expression as he kept his gaze fixed on her. His fingers remained threaded through his silver locks, absent-mindedly brushing them back over his shoulder.

"Hn." He sounded utterly disinterested in the topic at hand as he approached her. That same hand that had just been entangled within his hair reached out to her. Claws that were lethal to anyone else combed through her raven tresses, entangling even more of his scent within her own in a silent, invisible claim and mark on her. She sighed, yet allowed him to do as he pleased, finding the touch soothing all the same. She leaned into his touch and he cupped the side of her face carefully, her pouting expression fading and getting replaced with a content smile. "I do not care that you are capable of protecting yourself," he stated, his tone his usual monotone drawl. He was fully aware she was strong enough on her own, that she could take care of herself just fine without the assistance of others. However-

He closed the gap between them, pressing his nose to the crown of her head and gently nudging her bangs back as he took in her scent. It was much sweeter than normal. It upped the instinct to protect her tenfold. Her gasp was soft, a gentle smile flowering on her face as she welcomed the closeness.

He knew just how capable she was. The fact he'd chosen her as his was proof enough. The instinct to defend and protect what was his was no easy instinct to subjugate, and, even if she never discovered it, he had no desire to bury it at all. No matter how strong she was, she had no need to fight when he could protect her so easily.

"You're mine, and I will do as I see fit to protect you," he stated. "You're allowed to dislike it all you wish, but it will change nothing."

Kagome tried to suppress the urge to roll her eyes at his statement. She'd heard many claims that sounded similar to that one from him, and she was used to it by now. It was one of his ways of showing affection and love, she'd discovered, and, so, she'd gotten used to it. His actions came from a good place, so she didn't let them bother her.

She knew he didn't insist on protecting her because he thought she was weak or unable to do it herself, so she let any remaining exasperation she might've felt fade away.

A peaceful silence settled in the air around them, a soothing aura budding up. The longer she stood there, she began to feel a faint pull at her senses. A frown suddenly tugged her lips into a downward curve. It kept growing stronger, getting more and more insistent against her senses as she remained still. Reluctantly, she pulled herself out of Sesshoumaru's grasp as she turned on her heel to face behind her- in the direction it was coming from.

It was unlike anything she'd ever felt before, that much she was certain of. She felt the weight in Sesshoumaru's gaze on her turned back as he silently questioned her sudden actions.

"I-..." She paused, furrowing her brows as focused on the strange aura. "There's something here," she said. She turned back to Sesshoumaru a second later. "It's pulling at my senses, but… it's nothing like anything I've ever felt before," she added, a curious tone seeping into her voice. She knew what she wanted to do the moment she said those words out loud.

She wanted to go try and find it to figure out what it was. She wasn't exactly sure as to why she felt so adamant about it, but she was. Instantly, she looked up at Sesshoumaru.

"I want to try to find it," she said, and she could tell that he'd been anticipating her saying that. He wasn't happy about it, but he'd been expecting it, at least. "I won't be able to put it behind me if I don't get any answers," she added onto her case, hopeful that he'd agree if only to save him that sort of trouble later on.

He was silent as he looked down at her, meeting her gaze with his molten one, seemingly contemplating his decision on the matter very carefully "... Fine," he said after a lengthy pause. She beamed up at him in response the moment he'd relented to her whims. He wasn't pleased with the decision, she could tell, but he'd relented nonetheless, and she sure as hell wasn't about to give him the chance to take his decision back.

"Then we're heading this way!" Kagome exclaimed as she turned on her heel and started to lead the way.

000

Kagome came to a pause in her trek, a curious hum coming from her. It was so close, yet… there was nothing visible. They'd been doing this for half an hour already, searching for whatever it was that produced the strange aura. "It's almost like it's underground…" she trailed off, tapping her chin in thought. Sesshoumaru was silent in response, seeming to not see anything that looked odd or out of place, either.

She furrowed her brows and concentrated. No… not almost. It is underground!

She perked her head up, about to whirl around to face her companion, only to jump when she felt his hand fall to rest on her shoulder. It kept her in place. His grip, although gentle, kept her from moving any, and she soon realized why he'd stopped her.

Not far off from where they were was a group of people. He must've caught onto their scents before she'd felt their auras. They didn't feel bad, but there was something off about them that she could feel. She glanced over her shoulder, spotting him looking in the direction they seemed to be with narrowed eyes, as if he was sizing up for any potential threats. Was there something off about their scents, too?

She eventually caught sight of them and she got a good look at them, only for disbelief to set in a second later.

What in the…-!

"Takashi?!" Kagome wasn't able to keep her voice down the moment her gaze landed on the tallest figure there. The single name seemed to do the trick, because, almost instantly, that same figure turned towards her. Kagome's outburst had even surprised Sesshoumaru. "What in the hell?!"

"Kagome?" He sounded just as surprised as she did, but he seemed to recognize her the moment he heard her voice. She pulled away from Sesshoumaru's grip, despite knowing just how much it'd irritate him in the process, and she started towards the group. He didn't let her get far away before he fell into step behind her, following only a few paces behind the petite woman. "W-What are you even doing out here?"

"Huh?" Kagome tilted her head to the side and set her hands on her hips as disbelief leaked into her voice. "I'm the one who should be asking you that!" she exclaimed. She glared up at him. "The last we heard Mama got a letter that-!" She cut herself off before she could say the rest, angry tears forming, but she held them back "W-We thought…! You better explain yourself!"

"I-I will," Shiro said, trying to reassure her some. Well, he could when his memory of it all came back, at least. The figure behind her caught his attention, and his brows rose in surprise. "Who's that?"

Kagome froze at his question.

Of course, he was aware of her past hobby of hopping into the past and of her friendship with demons due to visiting the shrine one fateful day when Inuyasha just so happened to decide to come to pick her up a few days too early to go back. He didn't however, know any more than what she'd opted to share during that moment as her explanation. There was a lot he didn't know, and this just so happened to be one of those things.

She'd never had the chance to share the fact that she'd become the mate of the once widely-feared demon lord. That might just be the bit that broke him- and that wasn't even getting into her current condition of being pregnant.

"T-This is Sesshoumaru," she said after a brief pause on her end. "He's my friend." She glanced up at Sesshoumaru so he wouldn't try to contest her words with his claim. "You remember Inuyasha, right? Sesshoumaru is his half-brother."

"Oh," he nodded, accepting her explanation. That explained the hair and eyes. "It's nice to meet you," he said, but all he received in response was a silent, stoic gaze. Kagome smiled up at Sesshoumaru.

"He's not much of a conversationalist usually," she said, gently patting his arm closest to her. Sesshoumaru flicked his gaze down to her as she smiled up at him. "This is Takashi. He's my big brother."

Her explanation was enough to placate him. He let out a brief noise of acknowledgment, and she offered the others present a smile.

"See?" she added with a light laugh. "Don't worry about his cold exterior. Deep down, he's really great!"

Shiro smiled and nodded, accepting her opinion on the unfamiliar figure alongside her. After all, who was he to disagree with her claim? "If you say so, then I believe you," he said. Kagome returned his smile before her gaze slowly shifted to the strangers with him. He caught on quickly and moved out of the way and motioned to them with a bit smaller smile. "Right," he said, and he glanced at them. "Everyone, this is my little sister Kagome. She's really got a bad habit of showing up in strange places."

She rolled her eyes in response. "You really don't have any room to talk, you know." Shiro chuckled at her dry retort.

The machine they were in came to an abrupt halt, pulling her from her thoughts, and she all but heaved a sigh of relief with everything finally settled down. She turned, feeling at ease when Sesshoumaru kept a firm grip on her even as she moved. "Everyone's okay, right?" she asked, more concern in her voice than confusion.

Everything had been so chaotic the moment this thing started to move, bursting through the mountainside like a bat out of hell and automatically moving onto somersaults through the air. They'd gone far away from Earth as something began to follow them, most likely after the lion they were now passengers in. In order to get away, they'd gone through some suspicious portal. Finally, after the harsh turbulence faded, things seemed at peace.

Despite that, she still felt so uneasy…

"I think so…?" Lance said after taking a second to think his answer over.

Her gaze traveled over the remaining figures, most of whom she'd met moments ago. They all seemed to be in somewhat okay shape. Not the best, but good enough, surely. Her eyes landed on Hunk, who was, no doubt, the one feeling the worst out of the group. A worried light entered her eyes as she spotted his crumpled form.

"Give him a few minutes," Pidge said upon noticing she'd been eying him. "He gets like this all the time during simulations, too. Surprised it took him so long this time."

Kagome nodded, choosing to trust Pidge's words since they all seemed so familiar with each other. "Alright," she said. "We just need to come to a decision on what to do now."

At the time, going through the portal in order to escape the thing following them seemed like a good idea, but now? Now it looked like they were trapped here, and that was a bad thing. A very very bad thing.

Shiro braced a hand on the back of the seat, looking from her to Lance. "This thing connected with you," he said. "Any luck?"

He shook his head. "No… it's just silent now. I'm not hearing anything from the lion."

"Maybe if we give it time?" Kagome suggested. "The lion's still moving. That means it's still leading us somewhere, right?"

"I'm not controlling it," Lance responded. "It's taking us somewhere on autopilot. Maybe we should just let it do what it wants? Seems to know more than us, at least…"

"This thing is an alien weapon," Keith spoke up, arms folded over his chest.

"Yeah, but it also got us away from that ship," Lance said, turning some in the seat. "What's the matter, Mullet? Are you scared?"

Keith glared at him. "With you in control? After seeing what you call piloting, I'm terrified," he responded dryly.

Kagome looked between the two and shook her head. Now wasn't the time for arguing. She felt exhausted the longer she stood there, a familiar ache settling against her lower back. Sesshoumaru sensed her distress as soon as it formed, and he pulled her to him so her back was pressed against his chest. He allowed her to brace herself on him. His palms rested on her stomach, keeping her secured to him.

She opened her eyes, resting her head against Sesshoumaru's chest. The sudden change in their positions wasn't noticed by the others, thankfully, and she sighed.

"There's a planet down there," Lance said. Kagome turned to him, tuning back into the conversation just in time to hear those words. "It looks like the lion's taking us there."

Everyone fell silent as they began to get closer and closer to the planet. Turbulence set in again, once again jostling most of the people within the lion's head. The lion soon landed, but she wasn't able to shake the unease she felt.

Auroua-chan: I'm redoing this story. Honestly, I'll never get enough SessKag. I love them together too much in any way.

So, Kagome's currently 21, and it's been 6 years since her trips through the well ended. She's also Sesshoumaru's mate. Rin was turned into a dog demon, which is how she's still alive currently. Kagome and Sesshoumaru also already have a son, as well.
Other demon companions are still alive, too.

It's just a miracle Sesshoumaru hasn't killed someone yet. Other people might not be so lucky when it comes to him, though.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
