Prologue: The Machine that Changed the World
Francois' finger tips tapped wildly against the keyboard before him, keys resounding in protest against the abuse they were subjected to as he ran every diagnostic check he believes to be relevant at the moment. They had done it; they had really done the impossible and usurped the Brother Gods themselves. In an act of glorious defiance to the laws of nature that laid before them they had successfully created a construct to draw the world together, to stitch the hurt between people. The team of scientists, in all of their brilliance, had manufactured longevity to those who could not access aura, a cure for those left stricken by the incurable, a repair for the broken that could no longer move.
Project Rex was more of a success than Francois and his team could ever hope for, a being that could repair the world and usher in a new sense of prosperity and health.
Or at least it should have been; that was the combined plan form the onset of the project.
As he continued to type away, he could not help but to look up, watching as his wife comforted their only son. The boy's young hands gingerly touched a strange egg, his eyes flashed a blue white as blue traces glowed along his arms and forced their way into the device resting in his finger tips. Every square of the egg extended and contracted, ever cog rotated as their son's face contorted into one of concentration.
Francois could only grimace at their son, the weight of their success rested on his small shoulders and the gods now bared their teeth. Project Rex, his son Jaune, had been a success in more ways than one.
After witnessing the capabilities that his son now possessed the hounds of hell had came barking at their door to demand submission. When their demands of weapons had been met with declination, they sharpened their fangs. Six of his children had been slaughtered like lambs and left hanging in their rooms, most of his colleagues that started the project with him were now in body bags waiting for their turn in the morgue; all for the want of war. Project Black Knight fell into existence shortly after the trail of bodies were discovered, a young woman taken from the streets and subjected to the same experiment that saved his son, all to satiate the lust for blood.
A bittersweet chuckle escaped his lips at that. All of their efforts were in vain, for the project alone was incomplete without five key ingredients. Black Knight was left incomplete, a small solace at the end of the world.
"We got everything ready, Arc!" Gabriel shouted from down the hall. "Their rat is making his way down now!"
Francois cursed as he looked once more at his son and his wife. He thought he had more time than this. He should have had more time to be able to say goodbye to his only son. To say his farewells to his wife. "May Remnant forgive us for protecting them from the gods of destruction," he whispered under his breath. Lines upon lines of commands lit up the screens before him as his wife placed his son to sleep, sealing him away from the sins they were about to commit. "Be strong, Jaune, don't let the gods make monsters of men."
With the press of the button, he had changed the world in the worst way possible.

An explosion rocked the world today as a research facility at the edge of Anima went up in flames-
Strange machines called nanites have been discovered in the blood, what they do and their relation to the research facility still remain a mystery-
Strange mutations have been sighted across the globe-
Many are pointing fingers at the revelation of Exponentially Variegated Organisms, stating that it is either a mutation of Faunus genetics or Humans becoming the monsters they really are-
The link between the Nanites and EVOs have been made, yet no headway to discerning how it happens or predicting when has not been made-
Reports of a boy curing the effects of active nanites has yet to be verified-

His body was wracked in pain, every muscle screaming in agony as he came to the world of fire. He could feel the electric air wash over him as voices of people became clearer. Who were they? What were they doing?
His mind held a thick fog, a blanket hiding everything in the recesses of his conscious. Why was it so dark? A yelp of pain escaped his lips as he attempted to sit up, striking against something he could not make out. All he could see were the flames beyond the gaps of his confinement, making him aware of the world outside.
How did he get here? What happened to set everything ablaze? The fog came once again in force, his head pounding as he tried to recall what had led him to this point?
His eyes glowed a blue white as blue traces sprawled along his limbs.
What was he?
A/N-So, I'm back. No worries, I'm not dead. A lot of stuff happened in my life that both got me down and wrecked my life. But I'd rather not bore y'all with that. Just know that I'm gonna be writing again, I got the few chapters of what I'm going to do with this mapped out in a flow chart and plans to rewrite and remaster To Run With Golden Wolves. Both I'm incredibly proud of.
What I aim to do with this is a complete overhaul of Of EVOs and Grimm. I wasn't exactly satisfied with some of the inconsistencies I had written down, some of my dialogue choices and the restraints that a first person view pushes, especially since I put myself into a corner with the journal entry model. There is a lot I had planned, like Jaune having a criminal past that he knew nothing about, Ruby taking over his journal at key points either as a joke or when Jaune was out of commission, and other stuff.
What I aim to do with this, is use elements I like, cut out a few things I don't, make it third person so I can expand upon both the world and what I want to portray and carry on.
I will leave Of EVOs and Grimm on here for others to read it to see where this story gets it skeleton and if someone's up to it, you have my blessing can also adopt it.
Other than that, I want to hear from you on what you'd like to see, everything from pairings to events to teams along with criticism of what you don't like so far. While I do have a plan written out, I do take everything into consideration.
Please remember to read and review.
