So, this might come as a bit of a surprise.

Hey, everyone- it's me, it's X, the dear author of this fanfic. Over three years since this story reached conclusion, and I'm here with some new update now? What gives, right?

First of all, very surreal to be blowing the dust off my account like this, and yet I still remember how things work on here- muscle memory, maybe? Second of all, happy Thanksgiving to anyone who celebrates (and happens to be reading this)! In fact, it's because of the holiday that I'm choosing today to do this- though...admittedly, and as the title suggests, this update is LONG overdue anyways. Let me explain.

Basically- did you guys know I have an Archive of Our Own account? I made it back in 2021, but I've only used it so far for one thing. You see, after I completed Fractured Fates here, I eventually realized I wasn't as satisfied with my 2018 writing compared to my 2020 writing, there was a lot I could improve on with my story. And eventually, that compelled me to write a...certain something on AO3, between 2021 and early 2023. Yeah- there's a Fractured Fates remake! And just like this story, it's fully finished, Bunker Mode and all, for anyone to read through if they so choose!

And that's really what this update is for- to inform those of the audience who may not be aware of the remake's existence. I mentioned making an AO3 account in my Fanfiction profile here, but- one, people might not pay attention to the profiles, and two, the link I provided isn't even correct and I need to fix it after posting this, whoops. To this day, on a handful of occasions, I still get notifications about new people Favoriting and Following this version of the story, and...really, while I'm not ashamed of this version of FF, I do think you all deserve to see writing that better reflects my present-day skills.

If you're wondering why it took me so long to make this known, especially since the remake's been done since earlier this year...truth be told, I have no excuse for that. I think I was just so focused on the new AO3 stuff that I didn't think about the Fanfiction side of things, and by the time I realized "hey, maybe the Fanfiction people don't know about the remake", I wasn't sure how to go about correcting that. And then I would get to telling myself to just write a simple addendum chapter like this, and then something else would come up and I would forget about it for a little while, until I'd see some new Favorite/Follow notification and be reminded, and then rinse and repeat until now.

Recently, I finally decided to commit to making this update...and then I realized I didn't wanna do this on just some...random day of the month. Ergo, we're doing it on Thanksgiving! As an...early Christmas present, I guess? If I'd decided on doing this sooner, I might have been able to do it as an anniversary thing for the remake's publishing (October 9th) and that would have been even better, but it's been well-established by now that I'm a bit of a fool. So, Thanksgiving was the next best thing.

Since I never figured out how to do link things in Fanfiction and I'm not about to learn now, I'll just say: if any of you are at all interested in seeing the remake, just look up my username on AO3. It's the same as it is here, just with underscores instead of spaces, so it should be easy to find. Bear in mind, none of you have to go and read it if you're not interested, this is just to ensure everyone is aware of the remake's existence at last, which is better than just hoping people read the author profiles (or TVTropes, I suppose).

And with that, true closure for this story has been achieved, and we can all...I dunno, just keep going with whatever we were doing before? This was, what, a five-minute read? Not even?
