52. The Wave Card
I have to put this dead last.
It was the only card in the entire series, that was never seen, transformed, captured, mentioned or even used on camera.
It was captured during Sakura's "spring break" after the movie of the show took place, of which a said episode featuring The Wave Card was never shown or made.
For all we know, it's known for creating tidal waves and it basically a weaker version of The Water Card that already exists.
I know, it's wrong to pick on a card like this but, there's like three fans of this card out there that exist.
51. The Move Card
Arguably the most useless card out of the entire deck.
If you think you can use "The Move Card" to move furniture around in your household or pick up heavy appliances, think again.
Keroberus (the protector of the Clow Cards) literally retorts that The Move Card can be barely used to pick up anything – only just very light objects like pen and paper.
So, if I wanted to do something crazy like fling my car at the menace attacking my city with the Clow Cards, we can't benefit it from it at all.
Doesn't get last place only because at least it had a whole episode devoted to it at least. (Nothing To Report)
50. The Voice Card
What a weird card.
Basically it's only function is allowing you the ability to steal someone's else voice.
That's it.
I'm sure the Clow Cards have some restrictions as I wouldn't be able to steal a politician's voice on the TV, making them mute in the process. In that case, I would just turn the TV off instead.
I'm sure the Clow Cards can only be used in close proximity situations anyway. Why make a card like this? The Clow Cards are used for fighting off evil, so I really wouldn't go out of my way to use this at all. If ever.
49. The Change Card
Now this card is a bit of a cop out.
The Change allows you the ability to switch bodies with another individual for a set amount of time.
If the Change Card's magic isn't reverted within a matter of 24 hours, the switch is permanent, and the body reversal cannot be changed.
And basically, if you make a mistake and not fix "The Change" in time, you're screwed.
The Change Card does NOT allow you the ability to shapeshift into various objects like The Wonder Twins powers do. Why not just call this "The Switch" card instead?
48. The Create Card
The Create Card allows the individual to write whatever he or she wants, in a book and whatever that individual writes down – that thing turns a wild imagination into reality.
The card does have it's vaults.
You can ONLY use the card at night and the person who writes down it, has to continually write in for it's powers to continue.
At any point, the author of The Create Card stops writing? Whatever that person wrote down in the book, immediately fades and disappears.
I would always want a Clow Card to work for me 24/7, when the chips are down.
47. The Through Card
Now this may seem like a cool Clow Card on paper but, it's a bit problematic.
At any time – you try to use The Through Card – it allows you to walk through any kind of surface, or so you think.
Kero warns Sakura and Li (the two characters in the show) that if you try to use The Through Card against a magical force, that's stronger than the power of The Through Card, you can potentially run the risk of getting stuck in the wall forever.
Any kind of surface that might potentially be stronger than the Through Card and you try to use it against it – you're stuck in the wall forever.
Not my favorite Clow Card, far from it and I'm sure it isn't for you either.
46. The Sweet Card
Not the most useful card at all.
The Sweet Card allows it's user to create and turn any kind of rich, chocolate delicacy (and sweet might you) come true.
That's pretty much about it.
I'm not a sweet kind of tooth guy. Gluttony is a deadly sin.
And…there's no real method of attack when using The Sweet Card.
It creates sweets and various desserts. That's it. Next.
45. The Flower Card
These next few Clow Cards are only used in very certain situations, like you wonder why some of them exist.
Then again, I could say the same thing for half of the cards in this deck anyway.
The Flower Card is used to create flowers. That's all it entails.
It's cute and it has a very nice design for it.
A very tranquil card but, it's far from being the most useful or powerful Clow Card out there.
44. The Bubbles Card
Here we have a mermaid-esque looking Clow Card.
The Bubbles Card can be used to bathe Kero as Sakura transforms The Bubble Card to give Kero a bath in the episode "Double Trouble" – Episode 58 of the series.
It can also be used to scrub bubbles, clean your kitchen counter and keep everything in your house, nice and tidy.
Sakura lampshades this in the aforementioned episode that the Bubbles Card was useless. Kero has to reassure her to use The Bubbles Card on him, to bathe him. Sakura exclaims she didn't know that card could be used for this kind of thing. Awkward, isn't it? Still not the best Clow Card.
43. The Cloud Card
I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of this card is.
In the episode where Sakura captures it "Under The Weather" – Sakura is sick and Li & Meilin (Sakura's rival and Li's first girlfriend in the show) have to help her out of bed with catching it.
During the capture of the card, The Cloud Card can summon swirling clouds but, not make them rain, hail, sleet or be catastrophic in nature.
I mean I would imagine, looking at certain cloud formations would be a good yoga exercise alternative but, it's not the best Clow Card out there.
Clow Reed was the creator of the Clow Cards, and I'm surprised he was privileged and proud to make this particular Clow Card. He couldn't be proud of it and could of have, came up with something better instead. Sorry Clow Reed.
42. The Song Card
The Song Card is in essence – a tape recorder.
A borderline useless card but, it did have it's merits in the show.
The Song Card was most notably used on The Voice Card to lure out for Sakura to capture it as The Voice Card stole Madison's voice (Sakura's best friend in the show)
Of all things, it was also used to destroy a piano in the anime.
41. The Silent Card
A weird Clow Card that essentially just is – basically just a noise removal bailiff.
It doesn't make someone mute or silence them completely, to the point where they speak mute or deaf.
The Silent Card in quoted by Kero in Episode 7 of the show "Just removes the person making the noise" in the same room as you.
It's seriously like a bailiff being used in a courtroom, where it just removes noise and ruckus in the same vicinity of it.
Has it's moments and the card it was captured in was pretty cool (Episode 7 – The Mysterious Painting)
But it's needs to do more than that. (Its transformation came, as an afterthought in the second-to-last episode of the series just as Sakura had to transform all the cards.)
40. The Glow Card
A perfectly adequate Clow Card that can be used to illuminate caves. Using something like The Light Card (which I'll mention later) is a very powerful card – that when used - wears it's master out and drain energy away him/her from it's casted.
A very innocent Clow Card as Sakura caught it with ease in Episode 18 – A Fair To Remember.
Sakura also had a use of The Glow Card.
It was used lighting up a festival in her city, when the power is taken out by a horse monster. Yes. An actual horse monster in Episode 67 of the show attacked the city, putting in a panic. (The Calm Before The Storm).
I guess, they didn't hear of generators before in this city.
Not a powerhouse card but, it's fine.
39. The Libra Card
It sucks that we never really got the chance to see this card in action.
The Libra Card can be used to tell – whether or not – that individual is lying.
So much untapped potential gone to waste.
It was never used throughout the show, although it's transformation was shown in "Running Out Of Time" Episode 53 on the show.
It was captured during Sakura's "spring break" phase where she captured Arrow, Bubbles, Libra, Through and Wave all in quite succession in one week.
The episodes (besides Arrow being in the first movie - were never made.) What a hectic week that was.
38. The Loop Card
A trivial card that has it's only real use for specific things.
The Loop Card can essentially be used a minor time warp, trapping and repeating an individual getting stuck in a red ribbon, essentially trapped and unable to move.
It's alright but, it wasn't my favorite.
Well, that and it's one of those inanimate object Clow Cards. There's a quite a few of them in the deck.
Cards like that don't resonate with the average person at all.
37. The Twin Card
The Twin Card essentially allows itself to create a doppelganger of the individual.
It has it's perks and it's normally fine – as the card follows intertwine with the user. The Twin Card can be used to fight the same way as you – and It can fight alongside with you with no further guidance needed.
The only real drawback, what that it was never really used to it's full potential in the show.
It was the second to last card to be captured (Earth was the last one) and it's transformation was shown off-screen, as a potential card – Sakura transformed. In Episode 61 – A Present For The Cards.
Kero: That was so cool that you transformed, two Clow Cards at once like that!
And they don't even mention, which "two" they were. They dropped it like a bad habit, like that dialogue was never meant to be in the episode.
36. The Little Card
Allows its user the ability to be super-duper tiny.
I don't have anything else to say here.
That's all it goes. Making yourself small.
Not my favorite Clow Card and that's all I have to say here. Sorry.
Well, that and the episode it was captured in was about as ho-hum as it got. (Episode 24 – No Problem Too Small)
35. The Return Card
A bit of a weird card.
The Return Card enables it's user to go back in time.
It comes at a cost as it's a powerful card, that requires it's master to have a significant amount of energy/magic to be used.
It never was used in the anime, beyond it's transformation for Sakura to briefly visit back in time at the end of the show.
I can understand it's value and going in time, is a pretty novel concept for a Clow Card.
But for me, given my young age – I really don't see the purpose of going back in time.
It's worth noting - that it's never really clarified how far back in time, you used the card.
34. The Dark Card
I'm completely neutral to this card.
Next to the four elementals (Earthy, Firey, Windy and Water) the Light and Dark cards are the two strongest cards, out of the entire deck.
Light can't coexist without the darkness and vice versa.
That sounds like a quote from the show but, I'm not entirely sure, if that ever was said throughout the series.
Both the Light and Dark cards do play a significant role in the series as both cards are transformed simultaneously in the two-part finale. (Revelations Part I and Part II)
I only have the Light Card ranked higher than the Dark Card, simply because the Dark Card acted like a slouch trapping Sakura in total darkness – in the episode she catches it. It was in Episode 42 – A Strange Intermission in the series.
33. The Light Card
Case in the point and it's worth noting, that Sakura transformed the Dark and Light Cards together to wrap up, all of the events of the show for good and make Sakura – the master of the Clow Cards.
32. The Earthy Card
Here's a card that ranks relatively low simply because it was the LAST Card Sakura captured in the show.
Afterwards? The Earth Card didn't do anything of note to speak of.
The Earth Card can create earthquakes on it's own and….I think that's really about it.
Sakura captured the Earth Card in Season 2 and it was supposedly transformed off screen on Season 3.
What's up with that I tell you?
31. The Big Card
The Big Card grants it's user the power to become the size of skyscraper.
It doesn't make you get wider; make you gain weight or gain muscle.
It ultimately just makes you as tall as a skyscraper.
Maybe useful for one day if Godzilla is attacking the Earth but when worst comes to worst?
I think I'll refrain from using this card.
30. The Rain Card
Ah the Rain Card.
The Rain Card can create pockets of sprinkles, downpours and showers.
There's not much else to this card. So what can I say? It's kind of cool.
29. The Maze Card
The Maze Card is another one of those trap cards similar in vain to The Loop Card.
However? It's definitely A LOT more useful than The Loop Card.
The Maze Card can regenerate itself if the person tries escaping from it.
It's a goody-goody two shoes card.
And I like that. Didn't get that much screen time on the show but hey.
28. The Lock Card
The Lock Card can lock up anyone or anything in the small capacity of a small room.
It's a good card to use if and when you need some privacy to yourself.
27. The Shield
The Shield Card forms a barrier for protection for a short amount of time around the person that uses it.
However, The Shield Card DOES NOT LAST forever.
The Shield Card can break apart if and when the shield takes too much damage.
And cards like this, Maze and Lock are good to breathe a sigh of relief for a minute but that's about it.
I can't have a card like that number one.
26. The Shot Card
The Shot Card can continuously fire small bites of static electricity at its foes and will continue to do so until he or she is down.
It's a very quick and nibble card.
It doesn't know when to give up.
The Shot Card can only cover and attack in a small radius though.
So, I don't think you should depend your life on this card if a burglar tries breaking into your house.
I think there's better cards for arsenal out there than Shot.
25. The Sand Card
The Sand Card grants its user the power the use to control sand.
Do you want to make a sandcastle? Use the Sand Card!
The show didn't do The Sand Card justice, however.
The Sand Card was captured towards near the end of Season 2 and it would be mentioned briefly once in Season 3 Episode 54 when Sakura transformed 8 Clow Cards at once. One of those being Sand and that was all the exposure it got on camera.
Perhaps the Sand Card is more or less a card for show and tell than having it in your disposal to attack someone or something.
But controlling Sand still sounds wicked cool to me.
24. The Mist Card
The Mist Card forms a green fog around whatever it's master wants and destroys it on sight.
Now that's wicked cool.
A very sinister and dangerous card to behold.
It's perhaps a bit overkill.
In real life? Mist cannot rot or destroy anything like what the card would do on Cardcaptors.
Still, it's a nifty card to have at any time you are in a pinch. I'm sure.
According to the Cardcaptors Wiki - it CAN - be used as a blanket of fog for cover. But that never happened, when it appeared in the show.
23. The Dream Card
The Dream Card casts it's user to have illustrious dreams.
Good, bad, into the future, into the cosmos, you name it.
When Sakura transformed The Dream Card? She did it in her sleep.
So it's a good card to have for your own use and it's VERY useful for one's individualistic dreams.
The Dreams from the Dream Card often become reality.
It's kind of like the Dream Eater attack from Pokemon.
It's VERY useful to use when the time comes but not for all of the time unlike some of the other Clow Cards I have ranked above it.
22. The Storm Card
The Storm Card has the ability to give it's master the power to control tornadoes.
The Storm Card CANNOT give you the aid to control hurricanes and tsunamis.
I sorta wished it did. Now that would be a trip. Three for the price of one deal instead of just one.
Oh well. Controlling tornadoes still sounds like a blast when I'm in a pinch.
21. The Dash Card
The Dash Card gives you the power to run ridiculously fast.
It's the only card to look like that of a house cat or dog.
It's so cute and cuddly.
At the time same time? The Dash Card can be used to cheat at track and field events.
And that's why I'm leaving it out of the Top 20.
20. The Snow Card
I'll let this write-up speak for itself.
You get to manipulate the use of snow once you have used the Snow Card.
We never get snow here in Texas. Like ever.
But I do think I would have a use for this card when the time comes.
19. The Float Card
The Float Card grants you the power to float into the sky for a short amount of time and/or cross a short distance.
I don't think the Float Card has a turbo mechanic to it though.
I wish it did.
But I would definitely use this card a lot if I had it in real life.
18. The Illusion Card
The Illusion Card allows you to create fake realities of dead people, fear what other people fear and spook other people out.
The Illusion Card looks like something of that of a kaleidoscope.
A unique concept and look for a Clow Card.
I don't have much of a viewpoint to say here. I think you catch my drift with what The Illusion Card does.
17. The Watery Card
This is exactly what it sounds like.
Unlike the virtually useless Wave Card?
The Water Card gives you the right to use and call upon water whenever and wherever you're at.
It's too bad I can't swim or otherwise I would put this card higher.
Yeah I can't swim. Shut up about that.
16. The Thunder Card
A boisterous and cool card.
The Thunder Card looks like that of a wolf.
It can shoot a blast of electricity at its opponent. As the name of the card implies.
A very sleek design. I can't get over the menacing wolf look.
Maybe if this had more screen time in the television show I would put it at #1 but, I think it resting at #16 is fine.
15. The Erase Card
A very doozy of a card.
The Erase Card can permanently delete anything or anyone in your way.
If you literally want someone to die or disappear forever? You can use The Erase Card.
If you can look past, it's court jester looks? I'm sure you would love this card.
14. The Jump Card
You have to be an idiot if you didn't have this card near the top of your list.
The Jump Card gives you the power to jump and reach incredible heights.
If it wasn't for the fact the episode it was captured in was boring as hell? I would put it higher.
The Jump Card was captured in The Bells Are Told episode and it was sadly the first Cardcaptors episode I couldn't stomach sitting through wasting 20 minutes of my life watching.
Sorry Jump Card.
13. The Fight Card
The Fight Card grants you the capabilities of being a skilled martial artist.
I think no matter what age you are? The magic of the Clow Cards can still work.
There actually is a better card to use than this and you'll see what I mean as the countdown continues.
12. The Firey Card.
Hell yes I love this card.
The Firey Card can kickstart infernos and grant you fireball attacks.
It's like if I am Spyro The Dragon.
It's too bad I don't think anyone under the age of 18 knows what Spyro The Dragon even is.
And that's really sad.
11. The Freeze Card
The Freeze Card is polar opposite of The Firey Card.
It can freeze anyone or anything in sight in just a matter of seconds.
It helped Sakura and Li capture The Sand Card within seconds.
Chit son. You going to die when The Freeze Card gets you.
10. The Windy Card
Top 10 time.
Sakura's go to card and your go to card I'm sure if you ever get into trouble.
Sakura used The Windy Card more than any other card to capture the rest of The Clow Cards.
She used the Windy Card to capture Fly, Shadow, Water, Sleep, Firey, Arrow, Twin and to a certain extent The Dash Card. That's more than any other card she used in the duration of the show.
That itself has to merit a Top 10 position. Even if The Windy Card looks like a goody-goody-two-shoes.
9. The Fly Card
IN A MOMENT. EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE. LET GO OF YOUR YESTERDAY.
FLY. OPEN UP THE PART OF YOU THAT WANTS TO FLY AWAY.
AND YOU CAN SHINE. FORGET THE REASONS WHY YOU BLAH BLAH BLAH. BLAH BLAH BLAH.
IT'S YOUR TIME TO FLYYYYYYYYYY.
8. The Shadow
I'll be honest. The Shadow Card only makes the Top 10 simply because of it's amazing aesthetics.
It's a mysterious figure walking around wearing a cloak all over it's body.
It's a very sharp and good-looking card and I can't deny that.
As for what gender The Shadow is? Well I'll get to that in my next write-up.
7. The Time Card
This is definitely one of the most memorable cards out of the entire series.
The Time Card is the ONLY confirmed card out of the whole set to be male.
The remaining 51 cards are all either inanimate objects, female, animals or little children.
It's based on Father Time, and it can freeze and literally put everything to a halt once this card is used.
It can however use up a lot of magic.
So, while it's extremely useful. Do be aware of this when you use The Time Card.
It's based on Father Time - Get it?
6. The Sleep Card
The Sleep Card puts anyone and anything to sleep instantly.
A very handy card to have when times get rough.
For sure this is one of my favorites to use if I ever had them in real life.
5. The Sword Card
You get the luxury of wielding an Excalibur like sword once you have summoned The Sword Card.
It was used pretty often on the show to help Sakura and Li capture The Loop and The Shield Cards.
This has to be near the top. No question about it.
4. The Wood Card
A surprisingly good card.
The Wood Card was notably used to capture The Earthy Card. The final card Sakura needed to complete whole set of cards that she accidentally released in the first episode.
The Wood Card traps its opposition in a hoard of branches and vines.
I don't really have anything to complain here about this card.
3. The Mirror Card
This card is awesome.
The Mirror Card can be used as a projectile to reflect attacks at monsters and certain Clow Cards (it was used catch the Shot Card)
And it can also be used to replicate an individual's looks and take the form of that individual.
Sakura grows a special bond with the Mirror Card in the show. Something that no other Clow Card does in the show.
It was used by Sakura, to sneak out of bed in her place to capture the other cards - so no one was suspecting her being gone.
2. The Power Card
The Power Card is all intents and purposes a card that basically jacks your body up with steroids.
The user of The Power Card gains incredible strength and can lift more than two tons of weight at a time.
Even better? The person doesn't gain any weight from the card and no workout or cardio is needed.
Sakura stayed the same size and in proportion when she used The Power Card.
So that's definitely a great card to have with you at any time.
I wished the Clow Cards were real.
1. The Arrow Card
Hell yes. We finally got the number one greatest Clow Card.
The Arrow Card.
I watched so many damn television shows and played too many damn videos games where all we get is the same old electric/fire/water/grass elemental powers. It's not a unique concept. Yawn.
But firing and unleashing arrows on your opponents?
Now that's freakin' different.
It was featured prominently in the Cardcaptors Movie.
And they couldn't pick a better card suited for the movie.
Thank you for reading all of this ladies and gentlemen.
