Hey guys, TheDoctor1998 here with another chapter. It's time for one of the most well known 001, the Gate Guardian.

Now, on with the show!

XXXXXXXX

Doctor Nori appeared on the screen. "Good afternoon everyone, my name is Doctor Nori, and today we're going to be studying one of the SCP-001 proposals. Specifically, Dr Clef's proposal, AKA the Gate Guardian.

Lilith was scribbling in her notes again. "I wonder what kind of gate this thing must be guarding."

Item #: SCP-001

Containment Class: Euclid/Keter

Secondary Class: None

Disruption Class: Ekhi

Risk Class: Critical

Vee blinked. "Wait, is it Euclid or Keter? Can it be both?"

Special Containment Procedures: Because of the nature of SCP-001, no containment procedures are necessary. 24/7 monitoring of SCP-001 is to take place from a safe (10 km+) distance from a pre-determined location (Site 0). The location of Site 0 is known only to the current SCP Administrator and the single Overseer-level Agent of Abrahamic faith (O5-14) assigned to monitor SCP-001 from Site 0. Said Agent is authorized to take any action necessary should SCP-001 become active, and is required to immediately alert the Administrator and all other Overseer-level agents should SCP-001 show any change in behavior, as this may constitute the beginning of a PATMOS XK-class end-of-the-world scenario.

A shiver ran down Luz's spine, all the way down to the tip of her tail. "End-of-the-world scenario? This thing can destroy the Earth?"

Camila hastily looked at Eda. "Soo, Eda, do you have any spare rooms at the Owl House?"

Eda looked with a little bit of regret. "Maybe if my house wasn't ransacked by the Emperor's Coven shortly before an apocalypse, but now I'm not sure if I can live there myself without some renovations."

Alador coughed. "I don't know what the current state of the Blight Manor is at the moment, but it should be sufficient to house you and your daughters with ease, Miss Noceda, even if it requires some construction magic."

Camila blinked, not having expected this from the Blight patriarch. "Well, thank you, I guess."

"It's the least I can do, you housed my daughter and her friends when they had nowhere to go. I think I can speak for myself and the parents of Mister Porter and Miss Park that it's the least that any of us can do."

Should SCP-001 become active in any way, personnel are required to immediately consult the Patmos series of Emergency Orders. Decoding algorithms for Emergency Order Patmos are to be maintained on-site at Site 0 in the possession of the designated observer, and are to be transmitted to SCP Foundation offices only in the event of SCP-001 becoming active. Foundation Personnel with vital roles in one or more variants of Emergency Procedure PATMOS are to be advised to take the following precautions:

To maintain good relations with one or more organized Abrahamic faiths.

Lilith couldn't help but interject. "What are these Abrahamic faiths? From the name, I'm guessing it's some kind of human religion?"

Masha, still a bit shaken up from hearing that their world might end at any moment, answered. "Well, they're basically religions that believe in that guy." They said, pointing at God. "Most humans don't know if he's real or not, and those that believe in him are usually in one of those religious groups. Though there are some major differences between them, and they usually don't get along with each other."

Lilith nodded. "I suppose that makes sense. We've got some religious groups like that that went against Belos, some that believed in the Titan as a god but also believing that Belos was a false prophet-"

"Totally true, by the way!" The resident titan hybrid exclaimed.

Lilith rolled her eyes good naturedly at her niece. "Then there's also a sect of people that don't believe the Titan's spirit is around in any way anymore, having departed eons before witchkind and demonkind emerged from the muck."

Luz looked down in grief with her little brother. "Well, that one's true now."

To maintain, on hand, a supply of the following: holy water, a rosary, crucifix, cross, prayer rug, or other symbol blessed by an Abrahamic cleric of bishop or equivalent higher rank, a copy of Abrahamic scriptures (Torah, Bible, Quran), and standard emergency supplies in mobile form (bug-out bag).

The head Bard looked over at the humans. "I am assuming that these objects are religious icons of some kind." They were given nods by the resident humans, confirming their suspicions.

In case of a premillenial rapture scenario, all vital personnel are to designate a secondary operative of non-Abrahamic faith. Said secondary operative is to be informed of the location of the primary designate's copy of Emergency Procedure PATMOS and memetic kill agent innoculant, and is to be kept on ready status to take over the primary's duties as necessary.

To maintain familiarity with all other SCPs involved in possible PATMOS XK-class end-of-the-world scenarios.

"There's more things that can end the world?!" Luz screamed.

"Welp, I'm moving back to the demon realm." Vee said. It would be scary, but without Belos it wouldn't be as bad.

"I'm with ya." Masha said, partially in support of their girlfriend, partially because they really wanted to go to the Demon Realm, and partially because they didn't want to die. "How many people in Gravesfield would be willing to follow us?"

"Cabin 7?" The basilisk asked.

"Well, aside from those, of course." Masha said with a smirk.

Description: SCP-001 is a humanoid entity, approximately seven hundred (700) cubits in height, located in an undisclosed location near the intersection of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The following features are known about the entity:

Lilith paused. "How many meters would 700 cubits be?"

Vee quickly grabbed a calculator from… somewhere, and started calculating it. "About 320 meters."

Eda whistled. "That's one tall guy." Then she looked over to her son. "Not as tall as you're gonna be, kiddo."

"Yeah." King said with some sadness.

A number of luminous, wing-like appendages emerging from the shoulders, back, temples, ankles, and wrists of the entity. Although an accurate count has never been established, most observers place the number of wings at anywhere from two (2) through one hundred and eight (108), with the mean number being four (4).

"Wait." Luz blinked. "Is that thing an angel?!"

"Well, if demons are real, why wouldn't angels be?" Masha said.

A weapon, possibly a sword or knife (SCP-001-2). The weapon appears to emit flames at a temperature rivaling that of the sun, based on spectrographic analysis, although there appear to be no destructive effects from the intense heat on the surrounding area. Any entity that approaches within 1 km of SCP-001 is immediately struck by the weapon and obliterated from existence. Any and all hostile actions taken towards SCP-001 have resulted in the annihilation of the attacker, regardless of range (see incident report re: Indian Ocean Submarine Missile Experiment, December 26, 2004)

Camila did a spit take, coughing at some of the water that got into her throat.

"That. That's hot." Skara said simply.

SCP-001 appears to be standing with its head bowed in a gesture of supplication with SCP-001-2 held in both hands point-down in front of it. Since originally recorded by the Founder over [DATA REDACTED] years ago, SCP-001 has not deviated from this stance.

Luz simply blinked. "That's one dedicated guard."

God nodded. "That he is, Luz. That he is."

Human beings exposed to SCP-001 report hearing a voice in their heads, giving them a directive which the subject reports cannot be disobeyed. The most common directive is "FORGET", which results in the subject walking away from SCP-001 with no memory of having encountered it. On rare occasions, however, other directives have been given: the most famous of these is the one given to the Founder ("PREPARE"), which he has claimed formed the impetus for founding [DATA REDACTED] to catalog and contain any and all supernatural and/or paranormal artifacts that represent a serious threat to the current existence of humanity. This is the organization now known as the SCP Foundation.

Lilith kept scribbling down her notes. "Another possible origin for the Foundation!" She giggled happily.

Eda, however, was less happy. "Great, a mind controlling giant made of fire that can destroy anything!"

Observers have reported that SCP-001 appears to be standing in front of a gate of immense proportions. Long-range photographs have occasionally detected what appears to be a pastoral grove within, containing numerous other entities of the same composition as SCP-001, as well as several fruit trees of unknown composition. Of particular note are two fruit trees of immense proportion near what appears to be the center of the grove: one, it is noted, appears to be an ordinary apple tree, although the other bears a fruit unknown on earth, described as [DATA EXPUNGED].

"The Garden of Eden." Camila breathed.

"The garden of who?" Jerbo asked, interested because of his interest in plant magic.

Gus answered him. "Apparently, some humans believe that the first humans were created by their god in some kind of garden paradise, but were banished because they ate apples from the Tree of Knowledge."

It is the avowed belief of the Founder that the gate which SCP-001 guards may be the gate to [EXPUNGED] based on correlations with ancient Babylonian texts and the Dead Sea Scrolls. In which case, one can deduce that the entity known as SCP-001 may be [EXPUNGED].

The witches and demons looked at the humans, expecting them to explain. "Don't look at me." Camila said. "I'm an atheist."

"Same." The human kids said. "Sorta." Luz said, giving a so-so gesture. "I mean, can I still call myself that after talking to the Titan and God face to face?"

God chuckled. "In my opinion, you can. You simply don't believe in a deity without concrete proof." Then he looked towards the witches and demons. "And for those curious about the Gate Guardian's name, it's Uriel."

Addendum 001-a: Experimentation re: SCP-001-2's effective kill range

1. EXPERIMENT A: 1 Class-D personnel instructed to approach SCP-001 as closely as possible on foot.
Result: Upon making visual contact with SCP-001, subject is ordered to "LEAVE." Subject immediately turns away from entity and walks away. Despite repeated orders to continue the experiment, Class D Personnel refuses to obey and is terminated. Upon termination of Class-D personnel, all research staff involved are immediately obliterated by an unknown force, presumably SCP-001-2.

Eda couldn't help but grin. Like Luz, she didn't like how the Foundation uses Class-D's. Nor did she like how the Gate Guardian controlled people. She did, however, cheer for Uriel here for killing those scientist bastards.

2. EXPERIMENT B: 1 remote-operated research robot guided to approach SCP-001 from the ground.
Result: Upon approaching within 1 km of SCP-001, research robot is obliterated, presumably by SCP-001-2. All further attempts at remote reconnaissance have the same result.

Darius snorted. "Well, that went about as expected."

3. EXPERIMENT C: 100 pre-programmed research drones instructed to approach SCP-001 from multiple angles simultaneously.
Result: Coordination is successful, and all 100 drones cross the 1 km mark simultaneously; however, all 100 are simultaneously obliterated by SCP-001-2. Designated observer at Site 0 reports that SCP-001-2 appeared to "strike in all directions at once." SCP-001 did not deviate from its stance while this took place.

Ed blinked, both because of the sheer amount of "drones" they sent in, and how easy Uriel took care of them. "Well, that's scary."

His sister numbly nodded. "Yeah."

4. EXPERIMENT D: Wire-guided missile fired from a distance of 3 km.
Result: SCP-001-2 obliterates weapon upon crossing the 1km mark, simultaneously obliterating the launch site and killing all personnel.

Alador couldn't help but ask. "What are these drones and missiles that they speak of?"

Amity answered her dad, having researched quite a few human inventions during her time on Earth. "Well, drones are kinda like airborne abominations, just entirely made out of human engineering. And missiles are basically bombs that can be launched like a rocket."

"Interesting." He murmured, already having some new ideas for various inventions. Though, perhaps he should step away from the weapons industry and move onto something else. It's not like Odalia could stop him anymore, after all.

5. EXPERIMENT E: Multi-Warhead Intercontinental Ballistic Missile fired from SCP nuclear submarine "Nautilus."
Result: See Indian Ocean Submarine Missile Experiment, December 26, 2004

Hunter couldn't help but ask. "So, does anyone know what happened then?"

Suddenly, Camila's eyes widened. "The 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami."

Steve looked over to her. "Sorry, but what's a "tsunami"?"

"A giant wave, easily capable of wiping away entire towns and cities. Tens of thousands of people died that day."

She didn't see how the eyes of the Demon Realm natives widened in horror, each of them imagining a giant wave of boiling water sweep over the entirety of the Isles.

6. EXPERIMENT F: SCP-076 and Task Force Omega 7 instructed to approach SCP-001 on foot.
Result: SCP-076 refuses to carry out mission, despite not being informed of the mission's nature. Upon being asked why, SCP-076 replies, "No. Just no."

Lilith scribbled down some of this information. 'A link between the Gate Guardian and 076?'

7. EXPERIMENT G: SCP-073. Due to the results of experiment F, SCP-073 was not informed of his destination until arriving at Site 0.
Result: SCP-073 approached the site on foot. Upon seeing SCP-001, SCP-073 became distressed and asked to abort. SCP-073 was ordered to continue. At that point, the symbol on SCP-073's forehead became [DATA EXPUNGED]. Experiment was terminated due to [DATA EXPUNGED]. See Addendum 001-aa.

Lilith scribbled down some more. 'No, not just a link between those two, but all three of them?' "Who are 073 and 076?"

God sighed. "Their names are Cain and Able."

Luz blinked. "Wait, as in the first murderer and the first murder victim? Those Cain and Able?"

God refused to comment further.

Addendum 001-aa: By executive order of the Administrator, no further experiments are to be carried out re: SCP-001. No further SCPs are to be exposed to SCP-001. SCP-001 is not to be used to dispose of dangerous SCPs. Please see revised containment procedures for details.

"Well, at least they're not using it to get rid of things they don't like." Viney said.

ADDENDUM: On ██-██-████, the following errant transmission was received by Foundation personnel:

INITIATE EMERGENCY PROCEDURE PATMOS-OMEGA

ATTN: All Foundation Personnel.

The following message was received at approximately ████:██:██ this morning from Site 0.

SCP-001 has left its location. The Gate is Open. They are riding forth.
Oh G_d, it's so beautiful…

The members of the audience were starting to get a bit uneasy. Whatever this message was, it wasn't anything good.

Luz understood what this was in that moment. "The rapture."

Her girlfriend turned to her. "The rapture."

"The end of the world, according to some beliefs." She continued. "Some say that, when God deems it the right time, an army of angels would turn the world into a wasteland before recreating Earth into a paradise." The half titan swallowed. "And I think that the person talking at the end would be Adam or Eve."

"Before anyone asks who those are," Camila said, also shaken by the whole end-of-the-world scenario. "Adam and Eve are, supposedly, the first humans to be created in the Garden of Eden, and the parents of Cain and Able."

Hunter couldn't help but wince, being reminded of a certain monster after figuring out that the first murderer and the first murder victim were brothers.

Upon contacting Site 0, O5-14 responded that no such message had been sent from his location and that SCP-001 remained inert. The transmission was initially determined to be a hoax. However, close examination of the transmission reveals a timestamp dated [DATA REDACTED] years in the future. It is theorized that [DATA EXPUNGED].

"A message from the future." Lilith said, partially excited about the fact that she's gotten future information, partially fearful at the fact that that information's about the end of the Human Realm.

Doctor Nori appeared on the screen again. "So, SCP-001, something that could easily cause a crisis of faith to whoever sees it. For reasons that should be obvious."

The humans and Vee all nodded towards that. The Christians would see this as validation to their religion, while the non-Christians could easily panic if this information were to get out.

Doctor Nori was shown within an observatory, looking at a screen displaying SCP-001 while standing with a human who's head shifted between various animals before settling on the head of a blonde human. "So, any plans to deal with that angel army when they get out Clef?"

The man simply grabbed a shotgun. "Nori, I'll just keep shooting at one until one of us ends up in Hell. You?"

Nori's mechanical hand then switched to a minigun, her face erupting in a manic grin. "If I'm gonna go down, I'm going down fighting."

Luz was shaking. It wasn't every day when you heard your world was doomed, after all. "When?" She asked God.

God sighed. "Creation and destruction are primordial forces, things that even I cannot remove. Everything has its time, and everything has its end. All I can do is try and preserve the souls of the dead in the afterlife, the one place where creation and destruction have little grip." He refused to elaborate further, so he simply showed the next file.

And that's a wrap. The Gate Guardian has made his appearance, making the humans in the audience fear for their world. TheDoctor1998 here, signing out!
