Adventure Time with Finn, Jake, & Rachel
Chapter 6: Tree Trunks
One morning, Finn, Jake, and Rachel were waving around swords, cutting apples, and the first two even wearing apples on their heads. But as they were doing so, a worm was crawling over for an apple, only for the apple to get cut in half, scaring the worm away.
"Swords!", Jake cheered.
"Yeah, swords!", Finn shouted.
"Whoo! Okay, guys, I think that's enough apple cutting for today.", Rachel said, setting her blue crystal sword down as Tree Trunks popped out her window and sprinkled her plant with water from her trunk.
"Aw, Rae-Rae!", Finn and Jake groaned.
"Oh, men and their swords... You heard her, boys. Stop horsing around with my apples and come on over! I baked y'all an apple pie.", Tree Trunks offered as she went inside.
"Yeah, apple pie!", Finn and Rachel cheered.
"Whooo-hoo-hoo!", Jake whooped.
"I'm gonna eat it all before you even GET there!", Finn goaded before he ran away laughing.
"Noooooo!", Jake shouted.
"Not if I can help it! Hop on, dog!", Rachel urged playfully.
"Cling!", Jake spoke, hopping on her back before she then took off with him toward the house.
Meanwhile, Tree Trunks set the pie down on a table.
"Apple pie!", Finn spoke as he arrived.
Suddenly, Rachel flew up behind him.
"Snow slam!", Rachel shouted, ambushing Finn with a surprise wave of snow; it wasn't big enough to fill up the whole interior, but it did at least knock Finn to the ground with Rachel pressing down on him.
"Sorry, Finn, but you're under arrest for attempted grand theft apple pie.", Rachel scolded playfully.
"Don't let him eat it all!", Jake spoke in worry.
Tree Trunks then chuckled.
"Now, you fellas behave yourselves and sit down.", Tree Trunks invited.
But at that moment, Rachel noticed a lone fly entering and gasped.
"Bzz, bzz!", the fly spoke before descending towards the apple pie.
"Oh, no , you don't! Zhhp, zhhp!", Rachel spoke, zapping out a small ice lightning bolt with her pointer finger right at the fly, zapping it and encasing it in a small hailstone of ice before it landed just a few inches from the pie.
"Oh, dear.", Tree Trunks said before picking up the small hailstone in which the fly was frozen inside.
"Hey, Finn, didn't you say that your sister hated flies?", Rachel asked.
"Oh, yeah. She may not exactly be terrified of 'em, but... let's just say it's a good thing she and Callie are with Bubblegum to figure something out about their curse.", Finn said.
"Huh.", Rachel replied before turning to the frozen fly.
"I'm sorry you were born a fly and I had to freeze you.", Rachel said before flicking it out through the window.
"And also flick you away.", Rachel added.
"Oh, thank you, Rachel. That fly almost landed on my pie. That wouldn't have been good at all.", Tree Trunks said.
"Well, what would you have done if it did?", Rachel asked.
"Flies want it, they can have it.", Tree Trunks replied dramatically, making the Ice Princess shudder.
"Anyways, don't y'all worry. If it did get thrown away, a new pie would be coming in the wag of a lamb's tail.", Tree Trunks responded.
"And this would be where the apples we were horsing around with earlier come in, right?", Rachel asked, earning the elephant's nod.
"Oh. Neat.", Rachel grinned as she sat down.
"Woohoo! Pie, yeah!", Finn shouted excitedly.
"Yeah! Wowowowowo!", Jake shouted at the same time as the two sat down with Rachel in-between the two excited friends.
"May we?", Rachel asked.
"Come on, go ahead.", Tree Trunks offered.
In no time, Finn, Jake, and Rachel ate Tree Trunk's delicious apple pie.
"What you think?", Tree Trunks asked.
"Best apple pie ever!", Rachel shouted cheerfully.
"You took the words right out of my mouth, mama!", Jake responded.
"Oh, Rachel, thank you, but that ain't the best apple pie.", Tree Trunks responded.
"What are you talking about, Tree Trunks? What can be better than your apple pie?", Finn asked.
"Yeah. Your apple pies are always top-notch!", Rachel added.
"You ate all the pie...", Jake groaned.
"Here you go, Jake. I saved one slice for you.", Rachel said, handing it to Jake.
"Thanks, Rae-Rae.", Jake responded before eating his slice.
"Finn, what would you do if you could do anything?", Tree Trunks asked.
"Anything? Well, I'd catch a shooting star, travel to outer space and fight space monsters!", Finn replied as Jake finished his slice.
"I'd carve my face on the moon so the moon would look like my face!", Jake added.
"Well, I'd find a way to get both Mom and Dad back so I could have a happy family.", Rachel replied.
But then, she realized what she said out loud and squeaked with a blush as she put her hands on her mouth.
"I think I said too much...!", Rachel squeaked.
"Oh, man. Did you like, lose your parents or something?", Finn asked.
"Uh..., never mind that! What would you do, Tree Trunks?", Rachel asked.
"Me? Well, I would go pick an apple.", Tree Trunks replied.
"I'm confused. What kind of apple are you talking about?", Rachel asked.
"This apple ain't like the apples that I pick. They say it's the apple of apples; rarest kind of all. Legends call it the Crystal Gem Apple.", Tree Trunks replied.
Rachel gasped before Jake spat tea at Finn.
"That sounds awesome!", Jake exclaimed.
"Where is it?", Finn asked.
"I've heard that it grows at the deepest end of the Scary Dark Forest.", Tree Trunks replied.
"Crystal Gem Apple... I know I've read about it somewhere before. I read that it existed, but until now, the location was unknown. There was something else, too, but I just couldn't put my finger on it.", Rachel realized.
"Whoo! Tree Trunks you gotta go pick that apple!", Finn urged.
"YEAH!", Jake agreed.
"What? Me? Oh, no I'm just a cute little elephant. I'm not cut out for adventuring.", Tree Trunks responded bashfully.
"Tree Trunks! This is your dream! Think about eating that apple with your own mouth.", Finn egged.
"Or your trunk.", Jake added.
"Imagine the flavor.", Finn said.
"And your satisfied face.", Jake added.
"Really? You think I can handle the Scary Dark Forest?", Tree Trunks asked.
"Yeah, and we'll help you.", Finn assured.
"We love you, Tree Trunks.", Jake added.
"If any monster tries to hurt you, they'll have to go through me! Besides, while I'm there, I'll try to remember what else I've read about it.", Rachel said intensely, drawing her blue crystal sword for emphasis.
"Okay. I'll do it. Call me... Adventurer Tree Trunks.", Tree Trunks grinned.
Just then, the Adventure Time logo appeared. But this time, Tree Trunks emerged as the sword, pushing past through in, forcing it away for a moment before they went back to each other as Finn, Jake, and Rachel emerged below the logo.
"Yeah, Tree Trunks!", the trio shouted.
Later, Finn, Jake, Rachel, and Tree Trunks were now at the Scary Dark Forest.
"I love being so high up from the ground!", Tree Trunks grinned, now resting on top of Finn's head.
"Psst, I can take you even higher on my shoulders.", Jake offered.
"No, Jake. She has a weak heart.", Finn warned.
"And the highest she could go without any heart problems is on top of my head.", Rachel added.
"Oh, yeah.", Jake responded in realization.
Suddenly, they stepped into a pile of flesh on the ground.
"Huh? What's up with the ground?", Rachel asked.
"Ewww, why is this ground all squishy?", Finn asked.
"Whatever it is, I'm liking it. Oh, yeah!", Jake grinned, eagerly pressing his tail against it.
Cautiously, Rachel bent down and gently pinched the ground.
"Hm.", Rachel said as she stood up.
"Jake, no! We don't know what's been there.", Rachel warned.
"I wanna try!", Tree Trunks spoke eagerly.
"Okay. I'm cool with you letting you do whatever you want.", Finn said as he picked her up off him.
"I'm not! We don't know the first thing about why the ground is squishy. It could be a trap.", Rachel warned.
"Heeheehee! It's like some cookie dough!", Tree Trunks giggled as she stepped on the squishy ground repeatedly.
"And apparently, a clever one.", Rachel groaned.
Suddenly, an eye on the wall opened up and spotted Tree Trunks, much to Rachel's worry as she exclaimed from seeing that.
"Oh, hello there.", Tree Trunks greeted.
"Uhh, Tree Trunks, stay away from that.", Finn advised as the wall then moved in from behind the trio and attacked Finn, Jake, and Rachel, knocking them back.
"Ugh, you're gonna get it, wall of flesh.", Finn threatened before he and Jake attacked the monster with punches.
"Guys, that's not gonna work.", Rachel said.
Just then, she noticed Tree Trunks talking to the monster.
"An eye and a mouth. Well, I think I got the perfect thing for him or her... stickers!", Tree Trunks spoke, getting them out.
"Huh? Stickers?", Rachel puzzled.
"Careful, Tree Trunks, this thing is evil.", Finn warned.
"Here's a rainbow sticker, and here's a scratch-and-sniff sticker. Smells just like a pickle. Oh, and this one is a holographic unicorn, but it doesn't have a horn.", Tree Trunks stated, getting out and placing said stickers on it while also showing him a picture of a holographic pony.
"Uh, Tree Trunks, that's just a pony. Still cute, though.", Rachel grinned.
But suddenly, the monster grabbed Tree Trunks.
"Oh, now, whatcha doing?", Tree Trunks puzzled.
"TREE TRUNKS!", Rachel shouted, attracting Finn's attention.
"Huh? Tree Trunks!", Finn shouted.
"Guys, stand back! Things're gonna get messy!", Rachel warned before Finn and Jake left.
Then, Rachel cast her ninja signs while focusing on the wall just as it was about to eat Tree Trunks.
"CALTROP HAILSTORM!", Rachel shouted, blasting out an array of ice shuriken toward the wall, which wound up having its arm cut off before it could put Tree Trunks in its mouth.
This also caused the wall to retreat back in the tree with a whimper.
"Whoo!", Jake whooped.
Then, Rachel blasted ice on the tree, freezing out the only way it could leave.
"And stay in that tree, mister!", Rachel shouted before sighing and turning to the elephant.
"By the way, Tree Trunks, were you just putting stickers on that monster?", Rachel asked.
"Yes, I thought it needed some tender love and affection.", Tree Trunks said.
"Tree Trunks, that's nice of you, but... things are complicated when it comes to monsters.", Rachel replied.
Before she could explain further, a skeletal butterfly arrived.
"Oh, what a pretty butterfly!", Tree Trunks spoke before following the butterfly.
"Tree Trunks? Wait! Ugh...!", Rachel groaned.
At this point, Finn started to get just as worried about her.
"Jake, I just realized that Tree Trunks is old and bonkers. We can't take her through this Scary Dark Forest.", Finn realized.
"I think you're right, Finn.", Rachel said.
"Nah, she'll be fine. Everything's fine.", Jake assured.
"But the monsters!", Finn spoke up.
"It's fine. It's fine!", Jake repeated.
"Are you sure? Because she has zero adventurer training.", Rachel asked in worry.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's fine, she'll be fine, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine.", Jake assured, waving her arms, making Finn laugh.
"Maybe it is fine. Tree Trunks?", Finn asked.
"Where'd she go?", Jake asked.
"I saw that she was following a butterfly somewhere and was leading her away moments ago. Just right about here.", Rachel said, pointing to where she deemed was the most likely direction Tree Trunks would've went.
As luck would have it, Tree Trunks was nearby, setting up a picnic with the butterfly.
"And here's your teacup, and here's my teacup.", Tree Trunks said, getting out 2 teacups.
"Well, at least she doesn't seem to be in any danger.", Rachel grinned.
But then, evil sign posts crept up toward Tree Trunks.
"Then again, I spoke too soon!", Rachel spoke in worry before she and the others caught up.
When they did, they were surprised to see Tree Trunks getting out a sign for one of the sign people.
"And here's your sandwich.", Tree Trunks offered before the monster slapped the sandwich away.
"Oops, you dropped it.", Tree Trunks said, picking it up with her trunk.
"Tree Trunks, run!", Finn and Rachel shouted in unison.
"Oh, hey, Finn. Hey, Rachel.", Tree Trunks greeted, then, the monsters turned toward the trio of heroes, who hurriedly prepared for battle.
"Hiya!", Jake exclaimed as Finn and Rachel drew their respective swords.
"Time to call your mamas, evil sign posts.", Finn goaded.
With that, the trio fought the sign posts, cutting them up.
"Patience, boys. There's enough tea for everyone.", Tree Trunks assured before one of the sign posts grabbed the little elephant.
This angered Rachel into charging in, grabbing Tree Trunks, and casting an ice barrier around herself and Tree Trunks.
"Phew...! Close call...", Rachel sighed.
"Oh, Rachel. What a nice hug.", Tree Trunks grinned.
"What? This isn't a hug. This is a rescue. I'm trying to save your life.", Rachel said before the ice barrier started to break.
"Gah! There's too many of them!", Rachel spoke in worry.
"Rae-Rae?!", Finn and Jake spoke in unison.
Then, in a fit of protective anger, Rachel caused the barrier to grow spikes while exploding in size and then used it to smash all of the sign posts. After rolling past the trees, breaking them, and stopping at the safest spot possible, the barrier then dispelled as the Ice Princess panted.
"Oh, you smashed those monsters. Right on.", Jake grinned.
"Oh, Rachel. That tea party was crummier than a big old biscuit.", Tree Trunks commented.
"That wasn't even a tea party! That was a monster attack. You could've died...!", Rachel responded.
"Are you mad at me?", Tree Trunks asked.
"What? No. I'm not mad at you. I'm just... concerned for your safety. But all that matters is that you're safe now. Besides, you're too super-cute for me to even be mad at you. Right, Finn?", Rachel asked.
"Yeah, and you're a top notch adventurer. Now, let's go find and eat the heck out of that crystal gem apple together.", Finn grinned.
But before they could set out, a Snake Armed Ruby Brain Beast appeared.
"Dang it!", Finn and Rachel shouted.
"You two go fight—I'll keep Tree Trunks out of trouble.", Jake responded.
"Awesome.", Finn grinned.
"You best.", Rachel said before she and Finn charged.
But as they fought the Ruby Brain Beast, it seemed to be a stalemate with neither side gaining an edge, although the monster did come close.
"J-Jake, I think Finn and Rachel are getting jacked up.", Tree Trunks spoke in worry.
"Yeah, they can handle it. He's 12. And Rae-Rae doesn't even look a day over 14.", Jake assured as Rachel grunted while she held her own, same as Finn.
"I think I know a way to help 'em out.", Tree Trunks urged.
"Uhh, you should stay here, Tree Trunks.", Jake reminded.
"But I thought Finn told me that I was a top notch adventurer. And my adventurer instincts tell me to seduce that tentacle critter with my womanly charms and elephant prowess.", Tree Trunks said.
"Uhh, no way.", Jake refused.
Moments later, however, Tree Trunks charged in and tried to seduce the Ruby Brain Beast.
"What the... Tree Trunks?!", Rachel exclaimed.
"Uh, what are you doing here, Tree Trunks?", Finn asked.
"I'm helping you by tempting this guy with my body.", Tree trunks replied.
"It's not a guy, Tree Trunks! It's a Snake Armed Ruby Brain Beast!", Finn warned.
"Even brain beasts get lonely, Finn!", Tree Trunks responded as Rachel realized that the snakes were too distracted to attack and gasped from noticing the big ruby on its back as it turned to said back just as Finn scolded Jake.
"Jake! You were supposed to watch her!", Finn scolded.
"She got past me, man. I tried to stop her, but she overpowered me.", Jake responded.
"That's it... The magic gem spot weakness...! Tree Trunks, whatever you're doing, don't stop!", Rachel urged.
"What?!", Finn exclaimed.
Rachel charged in and yelled out as she raised her blue crystal sword with a jump and then slashed at the ruby, vanquishing the ruby beast.
"Eat it...!", Rachel panted to the fallen ruby brain beast.
"I did it! I helped! I'm the sexiest adventurer in the world!", Tree Trunks grinned.
"You sure are, Tree Trunks. You sure did.", Rachel grinned.
But Finn could not restrain his concern any longer.
"Tree Trunks! You're not an adventurer! You nearly got yourself killed again! Do you wanna die, Tree Trunks?! Is that what you think adventurers do?! Die and make all their friends feel terrible 'cause they couldn't save you?!", Finn snapped.
"YOU SHUT YOUR CRAZY MOUTH!", Rachel shouted before slapping Finn, surprising Jake.
"Whoa, mama.", Jake said.
"Rae-Rae, what the hey-hey?", Finn asked.
"Finn, look. I know how much you care about Tree Trunks. I do, too. But look at what you've done. She's sniffling.", Rachel explained, gesturing to how Tree Trunks was already sniffling.
"I'm going home now.", Tree Trunks spoke sadly before leaving as she cried.
"Ugh... Tree Trunks. Tree Trunks!", Finn spoke in worry only for the elephant to turn sadly to him.
"Don't follow me.", Tree Trunks spoke before leaving, making Rachel groan and turn to Finn with a glare.
"Great going, Finn. You just had to just stomp all over TT's feelings like that! That's donked up, man...", Rachel scolded before flying off after Tree trunks.
"Oh, Finn... You shouldn't yell at cuties that just wanna help you.", Tree Trunks spoke sadly before Rachel caught up to her.
"Aw, Tree Trunks...", Rachel said, picking the little elephant up and hugging her.
"I am so sorry for the way Finn acted. He just really cares about you. Apparently, too much if you ask meeeeeeee...!", Rachel apologized with a big squeak of surprise in the end as she noticed something that caught her eye.
"Oh, Rachel, are you trying to cheer me up? Because it's working.", Tree Trunks grinned.
"TT? You should really take a look at this!", Rachel exclaimed in surprise.
Tree Trunks looked ahead and was just as surprised.
"OH!", Tree Trunks exclaimed.
Meanwhile, Jake was curled up into a ball while sitting down as Jake balanced Finn's sword on his nose.
"Man, I feel horrible. I was only yelling because I care about her safety.", Finn responded.
"That's what happens when you care too much, dude.", Jake responded.
"FINN! JAKE! COME QUICK!", Rachel shouted.
Worried, Finn and Jake ran after Rachel and Tree Trunks.
"Rae-Rae! Tree Trunks!", the duo shouted.
When they caught up, they gasped.
"Guys, you are not gonna believe what we just found!", Rachel shouted excitedly.
"Finn, we found the crystal gem apple.", Tree Trunks grinned, gesturing to the Crystal Gem Apple up in the tree.
"Woohoo!", Finn cheered.
"You're the men, Rae-Rae, Tree Trunks!", Jake cheered.
"Uh, actually, we're women.", Rachel smirked with one eyebrow raised.
"Tree Trunks, I'm a huge butt guy for getting mad at you. I'm a huge fart. I was only upset because... I love you and I don't wanna see you get hurt.", Finn explained.
"Ah, there. You see?", Rachel grinned.
"That's precious, Finn, and I'll accept your apology if you let me kiss your cheek.", Tree Trunks offered.
"Uhhhh, I don't know, I-", Finn began.
"Whoa! Let her kiss your cheek, man. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.", Jake whispered.
"I don't get it... I read that the Crystal Gem Apple is guarded by some kind of Crystal Guardian, but... where is it?", Rachel asked.
Suddenly, a familiar, yet distorted voice called out, repeating what the trio said.
"I don't get it.", the guardian spoke up, making Rachel and the others gasp as the Crystal guardian with 3 heads popped up.
"I read that the Crystal Gem Apple is guarded by some kind of Crystal Guardian, but... where is it?", Crystal Guardian Rachel spoke up.
"Whoa! Let her kiss your cheek, man. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.", Crystal Guardian Jake added.
"Uhhhh, I don't know...", Crystal Guardian Finn said in reply.
"A crystal guardian! Tree Trunks, stay out of the monster battle this time. I don't want you getting hurt.", Finn warned.
"Alright, I promise I will.", Tree Trunks assured.
"Radical. Back off, you!", Finn shouted to the Crystal Guardian.
"Back off, you!", the Crystal Guardian repeated.
"Stop copying me! Grrah!", Finn shouted as he charged toward the Crystal Guardian.
"Stop copying me! Grrah!", the Crystal Guardian repeated as he charged toward Finn.
After the collision of their fists, Finn yelled in pain and pulled his fist back in pain.
"Finn! Graw!", Jake exclaimed, stretching toward the Crystal Guardian.
"Jake, wait!", Rachel warned.
"Graw!", Crystal Guardian Jake roared, stretching toward Jake before both collided with Jake reeling in pain.
"Ow! Ow...", Jake groaned.
"Well..., there's only one way to know for sure now.", Rachel said before casting her ninja signs and forming ice shuriken in her hands with the crystal guardian doing the same while copying her.
"Hmm. Stars of Frozen Rain, go!", Rachel shouted, launching them.
"Stars of Frozen Rain, go!", Crystal Guardian Rachel shouted, launching them as well.
But the attacks just cancelled each other out.
"I knew it. It's copying every move we make.", Rachel stated.
"Hey! It's my butterfly-friend. That's precious.", Tree Trunks said as the butterfly returned, this time with company, a keytar, and a drumset, inspiring her to dance happily.
"Whoo! Shake it, Tree Trunks!", Jake cheered.
"Whoo! Shake it, Tree Trunks!", Crystal Guardian Jake repeated before the guardian then morphed into Tree Trunks, copying her movements.
"Huh?", Rachel asked.
"Gem-clam! Let's beat it up while it's copying Tree Trunks! Yaah!", Finn shouted.
"Finn, wait! That's not gonna...!", Rachel began before the Crystal Guardian just knocked Finn and Jake back while copying them before they could attack.
"...work.", Rachel finished with a sigh.
"Crud, this is barf, dude.", Jake complained.
"I guess it's true what they say: violence is never the answer.", Rachel said before realizing something as she looked at Tree Trunks and back at the guardian.
"Wait a minute. Finn, Jake, I might know a way we can get past that guardian and get the apple.", Rachel said.
"Then, lay it on us.", Finn said.
"Yeah, lay it out, Rae-Rae.", Jake added.
"Okay. Here's the plan.", Rachel said before whispering into Finn and Jake's ears, making the two blanch in surprise.
"Oh, man, I'm a total moron! If what Rae-Rae said is true, we gotta fight this one, Tree Trunks style.", Finn responded.
"I'll get the make up.", Jake said.
"No makeup for me, please.", Rachel responded.
Later, the duo had put on make-up and stretched to the tree with the Crystal Guardian copying them.
"Hey! Crystal Guardian, are you okay with Tree Trunks taking a bite of that apple?", Finn asked.
"I'm okay with it.", Rachel said.
"I'm okay with it.", Crystal Guardian Rachel repeated.
"And I'm stupid.", Jake said.
"And I'm stupid.", Crystal Guardian Jake repeated.
"Heh-heh, you heard the guardian, TT. Bite that thing.", Jake grinned as Finn helped Tree Trunks up near the tree.
"Okay!", Tree Trunks responded before she then ate the whole Crystal Gem Apple.
"Whoo! How's it taste, Tree Trunks?", Finn asked.
"Yeah! How is it?", Jake asked.
But after a second, Tree Trunks exploded, leaving Finn, Jake, Rachel, and the Crystal Guardian shocked in horror as an ominous noise wailed across the land. But Rachel spoke up as it turned out that she widened her eyes in realization, not horror.
"Oh, I remember! The Crystal Gem Apple has the capacity to transport someone to the Crystal Dimension when used. Ugh...! I'm such a donking idiot...!", Rachel groaned in peeved frustration.
"Ugh...! I'm such a donking idiot...!", Crystal Guardian Rachel repeated.
Meanwhile, after the shocking disappearance, unbeknownst to the gang (and the Crystal Guardian to a lesser extent, Tree Trunks was seen walking in front of a crystal background with laughter.

I had to delete and re-post the story to clear up the confusion involving the prologue.
