Revenge, Love and Everything In-between

Chapter 3: Death Eater Hunter

From that day Ginnny received one letter saying he was alright telling her not to worry about him—like she would stop worrying about him—saying he hoped she enjoyed her term at school, and he hoped to see her at Christmas. Ginny turned up to Platform Nine and Three Quarters to see someone standing beside one of the walls of the platform. He caught her eye; he was dresses like Harry with a different face—she knew Harry was using Polyjuice potion—he gave her a small smile before watching her get on the train vanishing back through to King's Cross.

"They still don't know who this man is," Hermione said from beside Ginny. She was reading the Daily Prophet in Great Hall. It's near the end of October when Ginny received quite a lot of letters from Harry though he still sends them at night so no one was around.

"Yeah, my dad says the Ministry has no leads on who it is. No one knows him; they can never catch him," Ginny said she hated lying to everyone, but she didn't want to break her promise.

"Whoever he is, he must have lost someone in the war, but a lot of people died in the war so it will be hard to tell," Hermione sighed. Ginny had a feeling Hermione thought it was Harry. She wasn't the brightest witch of her age for no reason. "He wants revenge for someone that died he cared about, or someone he loves lost someone in war, or both."

"Yeah maybe," Ginny smiled back as Hermione smiled in returned.

"You and I both know who it is," Hermione said before getting up ready for class. "We may not know where he is, but I know why he's doing it. His secret is safe with me and maybe you do know where he is."

Ginny and Hermione were home for Christmas. Ginny was sat in her room when she looked over to her bedroom window to see the normal owl appear. Opening the window she let the owl into the room, perching itself on the bottom of the bed. She took the letter, giving him a treat before patting him on the head closing the window.

Dear Ginny

I hope you are okay and are enjoying being back with your family.

I was wondering if you still wanted to come over to mine at midnight, I miss you more than ever I have keyed you into the wards so you can apparate in if you want. I understand if you are too tired. I hope to see you.

I miss you Gin.

Harry

PS I have attached a letter for your family if you would give it to them.

Ginny read the letter then wrote back that she would be over at midnight before giving it back to the owl. She opened the window, letting it fly back out before getting into bed. She woke up the next morning to everyone opening their presents.

Once that was done…

"Mum, I have this for everyone if you want it, it's from Harry," Ginny told Molly while handing the letter to her. She took the letter from her without even a second thought.

"Of course, dear," Molly said opening the envelope.

Dear everyone.

I'm sorry it has taken so long to write to all of you, I know I keep in contact with Ginny but keeping in contact with everyone would hurt me. You were all my family and I miss you.

Molly and Arthur thank you for always treating me like one of your own, you don't know how much that means to me.

Ron and Hermione I'm sorry I left you both, but I know you have each other I hope one day I might come back and see you both I miss you both.

George I'm sorry you lost your twin fighting for me I have been told it is not my fault by Ginny, but I can't lose the guilt I have for Fred.

I hope you can celebrate Christmas as best as you can without Fred, I wish he was there with you all.

I love you all.

Merry Christmas

Harry.

Molly read out as tears fell down her face as Ginny watched her mother get upset over the man she treats like a son. She wished that she could tell everyone that she saw Harry because she knew how much her mother worried for him but she respected Harry wishes and watched on.

It was later that night just before midnight when Ginny snuck out of the Burrow, making sure to make as little sound as possible so as not to wake anyone up. She apparated away as soon as she got out the house, landing in Harry living room.

"Harry?" Ginny called though the house not getting reply she pushed open a door where there was a light on to see Harry about to put a t-shirt on. "Are you hurt again?"

"Merlin Gin when did you get here?" Harry asked surprised as he turned toward the doorway, she was stood in. "No these are just old scars."

"Don't worry I didn't see anything I haven't saw before," she laughed as he blushed. Walking over to where he stood looking at the scars that were on his chest and back. "I remember a time when I blushed more than you, oh how times have changed."

"Your funny, I'm not used to someone staring at me," he said throwing his top on. "Anyway, Merry Christmas Gin."

"Merry Christmas Harry," Ginny smiled as he hugged her. "You're looking well for someone that on the run after Death eaters."

"I told you, you didn't have to worry," he smiled as he led me back though the house. "I would like to take you somewhere if that's okay?"

"It's after midnight but I trust you so lead the way," Ginny told him. He put on his shoes and coat before taking her hand in his, opening the door.

They didn't walk for long before stopping in front of a house but the top half of it was no longer there. A crib in nursery could be seen from where they stood.

"This was my family home where my parents got killed, I can walk around here because they don't see me any different," he told her as they looked towards the house.

"I'm sorry Harry," Ginny told him while giving his hand a gentle squeeze.

"Come on there is some where is else I would like to show you," Harry said leading her further on. Entering a small graveyard, they came to a stop in front of a gravestone. "I was stood here last year while we were on the run. Me and Hermione had to come here so I came to see my parents."

"They would be so proud of you Harry, what you have done and what you are doing," Ginny said giving him a sad smile.

"I hope so," he said looking so lost.

"They would Harry," Ginny said putting her arm around his waist pulling him into half a hug. "Why did you not come here earlier today?"

"After everything we have be through I wanted you be here with me," he told her trying to smile.

"Thank you, Harry," Ginny said pulling him into a proper hug as they stared at each other she saw him gulp. "Don't worry I won't try and kiss you this time, I learned my lesson."

Ginny moved back away from the hug; she thought she saw a disappointed look but why would he be disappointed? She thought he ended it with me. She gave him a week smile before kneeling at his parents' grave, summoning a wreath.

"Every year I want to come and put a wreath on their graves," Harry said from where he stood watching her.

"I think they would love that," she said before standing up back beside him.

"Come on let's head back," he said taking her hand. Boy, he confused her, he didn't want for them to be together, but he went out of his way to hug her and hold her hand.

They got back to the house having a few drinks and talked before Ginny left back to the burrow both hating leaving each other. But they knew there was no way to convince him to come home.

It had taken time—too much in his opinion—but he'd done it, he'd found dear old Lucius. Ever since the Battle of Hogwarts he had fled along with his wife and son. Narcissa and Draco were the easiest to find since they had been pardoned for aiding Harry back during the war. Both had covered for him with Draco not confirming it was him they'd captured at Malfoy Manor and later Narcissa when she lied to Voldemort about him being dead.

Lucius on the other hand…

He was an unrepentant Death Eater, one of Voldemort's Inner Circle, and the one who deliberately given one of Voldemort's Horcruxes to an eleven-year-old Ginny Weasley. For that alone he was a dead man walking, this Harry swore. Fortunately, he'd recently paid a visit to Borgin and Burkes in Knock turn Alley and he'd tracked him back to his new home.

Apparently good old Lucius had a retirement plan…

It was another manor though this one wasn't on the same kind of scale as the old Malfoy Manor he'd had the displeasure of being held captive in. This one was only two stories tall and had an outer stone wall protecting the courtyard around it.

The wards were pretty good though…

Harry stood on the cliff overlooking the manor, the waves from the North Sea echoing in my ear from not too far away. A lot had changed since his final battle with Voldemort, and not just with the way Harry dealt with his former followers.

I was stronger now…

I'm not weak!

Then prove it…

A small smirk made its way onto his face as he brought his wand up towards the warded manor. Snape had told him to prove he wasn't weak back in his fifth year at Hogwarts. Harry wonder what he would say now…

Harry didn't bother to cast a spell; he just poured his magic out into a single concentrated blast of power. It lashed out, striking the wards around the manor with such force that the whole thing lit up in a blinding light. He gave an echoing yell as he pulsed his magic once, twice, thrice, and then the wards gone.

Along with half the manor…

He lowered his wand a moment later then Apparated down to the courtyard of the now blasted to bits manor. Several bodies moved, lifting crumbling debris off themselves. Several quick flicks of his wand sent a barrage of Bombarda spells at them, finishing them off.

"Potter!"a familiar voice shouted from behind me. "Crucio!"

"Accio Death Eater," Harry said as flicked his wand to the side and summoned one of the still recovering Death Eaters into the path of the curse. He screamed as he fell to the ground in pain though only for a moment before Lucius stopped, his wand coming up to take aim at Harry again. "Sectumsempra," Harry spoke as he sent the now familiar curse at dear old Lucius.

"Protego!" Lucius shouted as he narrowly threw up a shield charm to deflect it. "Dark Magic huh Potter? I didn't think you had it in you!"

"How did you know it was me?" Harry asked him as he gestured to his face. He was still under the effects of the Polyjuice potion he'd brewed so he looked nothing like 'Harry Potter' did.

"After that display?!" he yelled as he gestured to the carnage around us. "How could you be anyone else?!"

He had a point…

"…You're not leaving here alive," Harry said simply.

There was no outcome here where he lived to see tomorrow, not after everything he'd done and all of the people he'd hurt. He'd even tried to kill Harry back at the end of his second year, though he still found it hilarious that Dobby knocked him on his arse.

A silent barrage of curses sprang forth from Lucius wand and Harry ducked out of the way, deflecting the few that came at him. One broke through his shield charm and struck him in the shoulder. He spun as the curse hit him and he gritted his teeth at the pain it inflicted before he quickly cast the counter curse. The damage was done however, though the curse had bought Lucius enough time move into a better position.

"Avada Ke-"he started as he thrust his wand out at Harry.

But Harry was faster…

"Fulmen," Harry whispered the incantation.

A bolt of lightning lanced out of his wand and struck Lucius in the chest, blasting him back several feet. The echoing crack of thunder shook the world around us before silence fell. Harry stood where he was for a few seconds before walking over to where Lucius had fallen, his body a now charred corpse.

After confirming he was truly dead Harry Apparated away…

It was never easy, taking a life nor did he enjoy it. Still, these animals needed to be put down and it had always fallen to him time and again. He knew that Ginny worried about him as did the others but, his resolve had kept him going to this point. For Fred, for Lupin, for Tonks, and for everyone else that lost their lives to these monsters.

Though he would much rather kill these monsters without ending up hurt like he just was. Ginny might actually kill him if she saw him like that, but if the pain in his body was anything to go by, he probably needed a Healer sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, his options were rather limited…

The middle of July soon came and went. Ginny and Harry of course kept owling but Ginny hadn't seen him since she left school. It'd been two weeks since she had got a letter from him; she just took for granted that he was just after a certain Death Eater.

"Sorry I'm late, Lucius Malfoy has been found dead," Arthur burst through the door as the family sat around the table eating supper. "The ministry is all over it."

"Do they have any ideas who got him?" Molly asked.

"They think it's the same person that has left the other Death Eaters either near death or have been left for dead," Arthur explained.

"Whoever it was must have been strong," Bill pointed out as Ginny stomach was doing flips.

"There was a big fight; it looks like they were both injured. It just looks like Lucius came off worse," Arthur said. Ginny at this point felt so sick she could feel Hermione's hand on her leg. She knew what it meant.

"Well, whoever did it, they've done the Ministry a favour because he was the most wanted Death Eater," Percy said.

Ginny just wanted it to be later so she could get to Harry's...

The hours past slowly; Hermione managed to talk to Ginny without anyone noticing but Ginny just said she wanted to go to bed. She just hoped no one noticed the way she was acting. She lay in bed dreading what she was going to find when she got to Harry's. It was after twelve when Ginny managed to sneak out the door, quickly apparate landing in the living room. She found him laying curled up on the floor as her heart stopped. He wasn't moving, her worse fear growing bigger …

"Harry," Ginny said panicking more as he didn't respond. "Please speak to me."
