Edited 5/8/23: Minor Grammar/Spelling
This is a long one in the grand scheme of these chapters. LOTS of stuff happening. Some flashback, some romance, always a bit of humour! I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think!
Saturday, May 9, 1998
When Hermione woke up, she was warm. She felt both of her boys wrapped around her as the sun crept higher into the sky.
"It's Saturday, love. Go back to sleep," Theo mumbled as he pulled her tighter against him. She opened her eyes to Draco smiling at her softly.
"Come on, darling," he whispered. "Let's give the boy a break and snuggle up with him a bit longer."
She reached up and softly rubbed at the bags under his eyes. "Everything go alright yesterday?" she asked.
"Yes, nothing too dramatic. Father is convinced that Mother is still alive and wants to find her, but the Dark Lord has forbidden it. Fortunately, I think the Dark Lord will ignore me until I'm further along in my Mastery."
"I hope so, mon étoile," she snuggled her nose into his neck as he wrapped an arm around both of them. "Go back to sleep," she murmured, "I don't like seeing those bags under your eyes, they remind me too much of Sixth Year."
January, Fifth Year
In some strange twist of fate, Professor Snape had continued to partner her with Malfoy. The most frustrating part was that they were very good partners. They tried not to speak too much, or at least Hermione didn't, but occasionally she'd look up to see him just staring at her like he wanted to say something.
As she packed up her bags after Astronomy, knowing that she was going to meet Theo after they'd gotten rid of their friends, she zoned out into her own world.
"I'll catch up, mate," she heard Malfoy drawl.
"N-No, I'll wait," said Theo, trying to mask the nerves in his voice.
"I just have to ask Granger about our Potion's project," Malfoy continued with a huff.
"We don't have a project right now, Malfoy," she said, biting her lip. "We just finished brewing Deflating Draught." She tried not to look at Theo, as she tried to come up with an excuse to leave Malfoy.
Malfoy took a deep breath and then looked at Theo. "Code of Brothers?"
Theo blinked at him. She knew that when Malfoy and Theo were younger they were very close, often sharing secrets. When something wasn't to be shared all the other had to say was "Code of Brothers." Theo nodded, tentatively, looking surprused.
Malfoy turned to Hermione, "I'm here to apologise for the way that I've treated you. I spent most of this break hiding out in my room from my Father's friends," he ended with a sneer. "Well it proved to me once and for all that Muggleborns are no different than Purebloods or Halfbloods."
Her mouth fell open in shock. "I know that I've been a total arse to you and that you have no reason to forgive me, but I wanted to make sure that you knew that I was sorry. And I got you a Christmas present." At this point he was flushed as he thrust a present into her hands.
"I-uh, I don't know what to say," she stuttered.
Theo took a large step forward and pulled the package from her hands. He cast a few spells on it, ones that she recognized as ones that checked for tampering or unfriendly spells and potions.
"What are you doing, Theo?" Malfoy asked, petulantly.
"Code of Brothers?" when Malfoy nodded, he continued, "Making sure that you didn't curse my girlfriend, Draco." Theo said, nonchalantly.
"Y-Your what!?" Malfoy shouted.
"My girlfriend of over a year…" Theo said, handing her back the package. "It's alright love, you can open it."
She smiled at him, slightly embarrassed. "Thank you, Theo." She unwrapped the paper and was shocked to find a first-edition of Hogwarts: A History.
Theo snorted. "You're such a show-off, mate." Malfoy just smirked at her.
"I needed her to know that I was being serious. I was hoping that she'd introduce me to some more Muggle stuff. Obviously if our father's weren't right about Muggleborns, how could they be right about Muggles?"
Hermione was stuck looking between the two Slytherins and the book in her hands. "I-I can't accept this," she said, thrusting it into Malfoy's hands. "It's too much and it's not enough."
She turned around and dashed down the stairs toward Gryffindor Tower. She heard feet running behind her. "Mi, please stop," Theo whisper-shouted.
She did, but didn't turn to face him. "Thank you," he wheezed. "I- That wasn't what I was expecting to happen and I'm sorry that I didn't stop him faster."
"It's not your fault," she said, tears starting to run down her cheeks. "You told him about us."
"I-Yeah," he pulled her to face him. "I did, and I don't regret it, love. I told you that I would marry you one day and how can I even pretend to be serious if Draco doesn't know."
She wrapped her arms around his waist, "How do you know that someone else won't come along that is better than me?" she whispered.
"Because, love. Just because I'm bisexual doesn't mean that I don't know what I want. I want you. There is nothing that would change that."
She sniffled into his chest as he pulled her tighter. "Now, love, I have a very romantic date planned, and Gertie would be most displeased if we were late."
She smiled into his chest. "Do you think he was being authentic?" she asked as they walked toward the Room of Requirement.
"I do, actually," he said thoughtfully. "The book was a nice touch, if not a bit over the top, but that's Draco. He doesn't really know how to do words. His parents always just bought him things to show affection. I think you should give him a chance to explain."
"I'll take it into consideration."
Present (May 9, 1998)
"What's going through that mind of yours, love," Theo asked a few hours later.
"Just thinking about Draco's ridiculous first apology," she said with a chuckle. The wizard in question flushed from where he was sprawled on the couch.
"Oh!" Theo said with a chuckle. "Yes he forced me to keep putting the book back in your bag until you gave him a chance to read his whole speech and he made me listen to and critique it until it was perfect."
"I can still recite it," Draco chimed, proudly. "Granger I've always been told that I was-"
"NO!" Hermione and Theo shouted in tandem.
"I don't ever want to hear that bloody thing again!" said Theo dramatically.
"I forgave you years ago and do not need fifteen year old, spoiled prat Draco's idea of a good apology as a reminder," Hermione said with a laugh.
Gertie popped into the room, "Master Theo and Mister Draco, Gertie is being done," she chirped.
The two wizards stood quickly and nodded, she saw Draco smirk and Theo clap as Gertie grasped Hermione's arm and apparated them away.
When they reappeared, Hermione found herself in a luxurious bathroom. "Alright, Missy Hermione, I know you're a clever witch, so you probably knows what we's doing. I be getting Missy Hermione ready for a big dinner surprise. Master Theo be telling young Lulu that she needs to be learning braiding for the future Mistress, and Lulu is ready."
Like she'd been called, Lulu, a very small elf in a pink, frilly pillowcase appeared, "Hello Missy Hermione," squeaked the elf. "When you be marrying the Master and Mister I be being your elf. Master Theo sent me to be learning to braid your hairs." Hermione felt tears prick her eyes. Young Hermione would be shocked to see how much more thoughtful Draco and Theo were than Ron and Harry. Harry and Ron would have never thought that Hermione might need a whole elf to help with her hair. She bent down and wrapped Lulu in a tight hug.
"Alright, Lulu, let's get started!" she said with a grin. Hermione was pushed into a salon chair and felt Lulu begin working on her hair. Gertie tutted at the state of her fingernails and started to work on them.
"We can't be having Missy's fingernails look like this!" she moaned. "They have to be perfect looking for the Master's ring."
Hermione laughed. These elves were not subtle, that's for sure. After a few hours (significantly shorter than any time she'd spent at a salon with her Mum), Hermione was pushed in front of the mirror.
Lulu had braided the back of her hair in such a way that all the curls were piled on top of her head, falling into curly bangs across her forehead. She was wearing a set of sage green dress robes that were reminiscent of her Yule Ball dress, but appeared slightly less Muggle. Her makeup was tastefully done, reminiscent of something she'd seen in a movie from the 1940s, with her lips a deep red and winged eyeliner.
"Missy Hermione looks very beautiful," Gertie said proudly.
"It's perfect," Hermione said softly and then turned to the two elves, "Thank you so much, you two! I'm quite glad that I'll be joining your family!"
The elves flushed as Hermione swept them into a hug. "Is Missy Hermione being ready?" Gertie asked.
"Yes, I am Gertie!"
When Hermione reappeared in their "flat," she gasped. The whole room was covered in flowers. Draco and Theo were standing next to each other, Draco looked nervous, but Theo was absolutely beaming.
"You are a vision, Ms. Granger," Theo said. She flushed.
"Gods, Hermione," Draco whispered. "Could you really be ours?"
She patted at her cheeks, trying to get them to lose their heat. With a flourish of his arm, Theo stepped over to her and ushered her to the table that was set with a pot of dombré de crevettes, one of her favourite foods her Mum would make, and a lovely champagne.
"Now before we even get started," Theo said, pulling Draco to the table, "we have a very important question for you."
Draco flushed, "I know it seems early, but honestly Hermione, I can't imagine my life without you two and knowing that you're safe is all I can ask for."
"We've been practising this one for ages as well," Theo said with a chuckle, "in fact I think the first draft of our speech is from the summer before Sixth Year."
Hermione gasped, finding tears welling in her eyes. "Yes well, I didn't want to bollocks this one up like I did my first through fifth apologies. So here we are," Draco continued. "From the day that I saw you on the train I knew there was something about you. I'd been told that Muggleborns were less, and so I never pursued you, something I regret to this day."
"Fortunately for all of us, I was not so foolish," Theo continued, grinning at Draco. "I knew that you were it for me, and the only thing that could ever make it better was if this wanker wanted to join in, but I didn't hold much hope for a personality transplant."
"When Theo stepped in front of you when I was trying to apologise in Fifth Year, I thought for sure he was going to hurt you, but then he said that you were his, and this terrible jealous monster came out. When you sprinted away and he was able to follow you, I thought for sure that I could never be yours."
"Luckily for him, the two of us are good at sharing," Theo smirked. "The three of us together are a better balance than I could ever hope for. Without the two of you, I'm not sure if I would have made it through the last few years. I'd probably be betrothed to some terribly boring Pureblood Princess, who wouldn't know what to do with a second cock, and frankly, that is unacceptable."
"What Theo means to say," chuckled Draco, "Is that not only have you saved us from loveless marriages, but you've introduced us to a world we'd never known. Hermione Jean Granger, will you marry me?"
"And me!" chimed Theo.
They held out a ring that was a beautiful heirloom gold; the centre was a square shaped sapphire that had two tear shaped diamonds on either side. She gasped and nodded.
"I'm going to need to hear you say it, love," said Theo, his voice cracking.
"Of course I'll marry you two!"
