Episode 25: Emilie
"What are you doing?"
Emilie froze her shifting through Emma's closet, "Just looking for a jacket to borrow."
She turned and looked to see Sophie Lèon, Emma's girlfriend, in the doorway, eyes narrowed at her. Emilie had seen way more of Sophie this week than she thought she would and it was honestly getting on her last nerve.
Sophie moved over to Emma's desk and pointed to a black hoodie on the chair near it, "Em always keeps one by her desk."
Emilie tried not to sneer at that, "black really isnt my color…"
"Then Emma's closet is going to really disappoint you," Sophie replied just as Emma wandered up .
"Hey," Emma greeted as she came into view of the two, "Whats up?"
Emilie hid her groan as looked over at the person that shared her face. It was odd looking at her. Emilie had recently dyed her hair back to black and now matched Emma almost exactly if not for Emma's glasses and their style of dress.
Emma's style was definitely laid back 'skater boy'. Emma wore hoodies, graphic t-shirts with jokes, dark jeans, and liked wearing beanies and ball caps. (a habit that Hugo seemed to pick up on since Emilie hadn't seen him without one yet)
Emilie was more prim and proper. With skirts, flowy shirts that belong on models, soft blues and hair also was always tried back in a braid or elaborate bun, unlike Emma who's hair seemed to be styled like she just got out of bed.
Emma just seemed so relaxed in her black shirt and blue jeans leaning against the door. It made Emilie fill with anger, how could she be so calm….
Sophie stared suspiciously at Emilie, "She was going threw your things."
"She's my sister she's allowed to," Emma replied confused at why Sophie was bothered by this.
Sophie gave Emma a look that said she was far from okay with it.
Emilie decided she didn't want to watch another silent fight between them. She gave a half-hearted goodbye and left the room quickly.
Emilie stomped up the stairs to the boys' room and eventually to the roof where Louis was playing the guitar. She flopped down next to his seat.
"Nothing," Emilie told Louis annoyance in her voice, "Not that I ever get far looking cause Sophie keeps getting in the way."
Louis stopped playing his guitar, "Maybe Sophie has the box then? If she is Ladybug like we think she is-"
"Which she probably is," Emilie groaned thinking about how Louis mentioned at giving Sophie Ladybug earring that were their Mom's at one point.
"She might have it. Either Ladybug or Cat Noir have to have it," Louis said thinking out loud, "They are the only ones that could have it. We have only seen those one off heroes a handful of times so they cant have it."
Emilie remained silent, thinking. She had only two more days. Luna Moth gave them a time frame before she would get involved, "We'll just have to move forward to plan B. The Ladybug and Cat Miraculous are still our main goal. With them we can get the others later."
Louis looked very uncomfortable, "Are you sure? I feel like if we just talked to Emma and Sophie…."
"Louis, they're "heroes". They won't listen."
…..
Emma glared at Sophie, "I've told you before. I trust Emilie, she's my sister."
"Can you not see how this seems?" Sophie argued channeling in Nina conspiracy energy, "Your sister was suppose to be dead. Emilie shows up with a flimsy excuse about having memory lost and being taking in by a family in the country but happened to remember recently, Em that's straight up a plot from some YA novel or a fanfiction."
"I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth!" Emma tried to reign in her anger at her girlfriend, "For the last time she can't be an imposter or an amok or something. That implies someone knows I'm Cat Noir."
"Someone figured out all the adult heroes identities! Its not that much of a stretch!" Sophie argued, "why are you so stubborn about this!"
"I think you need to leave," Emma said her voice starting to get loud and angry.
Sophie glared at her. She wanted to continue there talk, the two other times they had this argument had ended up going nowhere as well but she looked at her girlfriend and just saw the hurt in her eyes.
Sophie sighed and leaned in and gave her a kiss on the lips, "I love you remember, I'm just worried."
Emma nodded at that but didn't say anything at that Sophie sighed and left.
….
"She's being so fucking stubborn! I just can't with this! You agree with me right?! You worked with Hawk Moth before! You've dealt with this shit before? This has to be a trap!"
Nathalie sipped her tea and glanced at her, "Sophie maybe you want to change back so Tikki can eat while we talk."
Ladybug paused her pacing looked down at the spots on her suit, "Tikki, Spots off."
With a pink-red light Sophie and Tikki was standing the instead of Ladybug. She flopped down in the chair across from Nathalie as Tikki floated to the table and started nibbling on the sweets.
"Sophie, as an ex-villain I can understand the concern. This is a plot I can see Gabriel trying to something like this," Nathalie told her, "But you have to let it play out."
"But what if she's an amok?!" Sophie cried in distress.
"And what if Emilie's not? You'll have driven a wedge between you and Emma," Nathalie explained sadly, "There will be a loss of trust. You're relationship will never recover."
That seemed to shake Sophie a lot. Emma was her partner, her Cat, her best friend, her love. She couldn't imagine her life without her, "I can't loose Emma….But what if I'm right…."
Tikki looked concerned and floated up from hug Sophie's face, "It will be okay. If your right we'll fix it and be there for Emma and her family."
Nathalie nodded her head walking the girl and her kwami while praying that Sophie was wrong and it was the real Emilie.
….
Iris sighed as she looked over at the depressed looking Emma on her bed, "Okay do you want my honest opinion? Ex- girlfriend opinion? Or a supportive friend opinion?"
Emma glanced confused at her, "Why are their 3 different opinions?"
"Cause you and Sophie make things difficult?" Iris complained as she spun the chair see was sitting in, "Now which opinion do you want?"
"The honest one?" Emma replied unsure.
"Well, I think you should listen to your kwami."
Emma glared at her motioned to Plagg who was eating strawberry cheesecake ice cream that Iris bought for him, " You want me to trust his opinion?"
Plagg gave Emma a look, "I'm literally millions of years ago and a god of destruction. You should trust me more."
Emma rolled her eyes and looked at Iris, "Anyway, so should I be more cautious?"
"Plagg?" Iris looked at the kwami.
"She doesn't listen to me," Plagg lamented as he flew to sit on Emma's shoulder, "But you should try to be more cautious. Something doesn't feel right. Yes, it feels like Emilie. But something is off."
"Well, yeah. She's been raised by others. Its been 10 years," Emma tried to defend.
Iris sighed and leaned over and patted Emma's knee, in a friend way Iris would like to remind everyone, "Emma, your so willing to defend your family and it's sweet. You want to believe the best in people. But maybe step back and look at it from Sophie's perspective. You guys are always trying to protect each other. Whether it's emotionally or physically. Like your Ladybug and Cat Noir you'd be able to stop amok and akuma or villain that comes your way. But think about the emotional damage it may cause."
That did seem to rattle Emma a little as she looked down to think as she squeaked out weakly, "But what if she is Emilie….she's my sister….my twin….I want to trust her…..I need to trust her…."
Suddenly a knock came on the door and Plagg dived into her shirt pocket as the door opened and Emilie did a double take as she saw Iris in the room.
Iris studied Emilie for a moment. It was weird to see a second Emma, a more prim and proper felt a little creepy letting her eyes linger on Emilie's skirt. Iris shifted her light brown eyes to Emilie's neon green and feels a twinge in her mind. They looked familiar. Iris waved if off quickly. Of course they did. They were the same eyes as Emma's.
"I wanted to talk but I didn't know you hand company," Emilie said looking a little unnerved by Iris' presence.
Iris looked at an uncertain Emma, "You can chat. Hugo said he needed help with math didn't he? And Emma can't math to save her life."
Emma smiled at Iris and mouthed thank you.
Iris stood up and left the room to go find the boy and gave Emilie a quick little pat on her shoulder as she left the room.
Emma looked at Emilie and motioned her into the room.
"Actually can we go to the roof?"
Author's Note
So, I've binged the entire of seasons 4 and 5, the movie, and the Paris special since my last time posting. Guys, wtf. that was a lot. Like I had fun but season 5 ending was...Oh boy. But hey I called it with Ladybug giving out all the miraculous to everybody. I also watched this with my friend so his reactions were peak comedy.
Anyway, I actually had to rewrite the Emma and Iris talk. I honestly forgot I had Emma know that Iris knew she was Cat Noir. My bad at least I caught it. This is chapter 77 I'm giving myself slack here.
So next time- Emilie and Emma have a heart to heart talk but oh no! ITS A TRAP?!
