Summary: Kagome left the Galaxy Garrison following Shiro's disappearance. Not even she could predict what might come a year later when he crashlands back on Earth. By strange means, it seems she's bound to Voltron by its very roots. Surrounded by friends, family, and strangers alike, she will take up any mantle she must in order to recover the Shikon no Tama and defend her allies.
Pairing: Keith/Kagome

Chapter One
A pair of crimson eyes observed him. Once he became aware of her gaze on him, the man turned and eyed the small feline with a soft, curious smile. It wasn't every day that he saw the twin-tailed cat without her partner. It certainly posed the question of where she might've gone off to without the small creature.
She didn't move, even when he approached her. Alfor crouched in front of her, and the feline merely cocked her head to the side. "Now, where has she gone off to this time?" he mused softly.
"Mew!" Kirara perked up in response. She knew the answer, and he was aware. He gave a soft chuckle as she jumped up onto his shoulder. A second later, she jumped back down. She'd merely used him as a stepping stool to get around him. She paused, glancing back at him as he turned to face her. She checked to see if he'd follow her, and when he seemed to do just that, she bounded ahead of him.
Alfor watched for a brief moment before falling into pace behind her. She was small but quick, pausing every few leaps to wait for him to catch up. He followed after her for a short while until the shape of her partner finally entered his line of sight. She stood on the balcony gazing up at the sky above. The night shrouded her, but a natural pale pink glow around her made her easy to spot. He paused a few feet behind her, a soft smile on his face as he gazed at her.
"I see Kirara brought you here like I requested," she mused softly. Alfor chuckled as he closed the distance, coming up to her side and resting a hand between her shoulders.
"That she did, my Lady," he responded. He saw her smile breaking through her usual solemn facade. Her eyes, a deep plum, shone with an ethereal glow. They held light, almost as if he could identify the night sky within them.
"I've been contemplating your suggestion," she mused softly, and he nodded. He wanted to know her thoughts, but he refused to rush her answers. "About Voltron," she continued. The pink jewel around her neck glistened with pristine clarity. "I'll accept and do it," she finally said.
"The jewel is bound to you. If you give it up for Voltron…," he reminded. Despite his joy at her agreement, he still reminded her of the cautions of it. She smiled with a shake of her head, long raven locks shifting slightly.
"I'll fare just fine. I have fared just fine until now. Lending the jewel to the lions won't harm me," she responded. Her comment brought a smile to his face. He knew he had nothing to worry about when it came to her own strength, but still… he couldn't help it.
"Mother? Father?"
The voice caused them both to turn. Alfor rested a hand on his hip as a small girl walked out behind them. He arched a brow.
"You should be asleep by now, Allura," he remarked.
"I couldn't sleep," she responded, and he sighed with a nod of his head. "Can Kirara sleep with me tonight?" she asked a moment later, glancing at her mother in wonder.
"Of course," she responded after a brief pause. As she said that, Kirara bounded over to the girl and jumped into her arms, much to Allura's joy. She cradled her close as Alfor went to her side. He scooped her up in his arms and glanced down at her.
"Now that you have a companion, how about we take you back to bed, hm?" he asked, and she nodded, light blue eyes sparkling. A moment later, he looked back at the woman behind him. "I'll put her back to bed."
As he said those words, he was already on the move. Soon enough, she was on her own there once again. A soft sigh fell from her lips, and she turned back to the sky, gazing up at the world above her.
This was her second chance. She never quite understood why she hadn't died back when the jewel was formed, but she was forever grateful for the life she'd stumbled into.
With a gentle shake of her head, Midoriko tore her gaze from the sky. She turned on her heel and left the spot she'd been occupying for a while. As she did, her hand went up to cradle the jewel around her neck.
She felt having the jewel bound to something such as Voltron wouldn't be so bad, in the end. With its power boosting her own, she had nothing to worry about.
After an hour, Kagome had given up on any hope of meditation. Her heart was hammering within her chest, and she couldn't focus on anything other than the auras she could feel over the distance. The clock on the wall was moving far too slowly for her own liking. She felt her patience melting, and, just as she was about to ignore the deal she'd struck with Keith altogether, she could feel his aura just outside. His, and many more. She didn't care about the other three, at first merely focusing on the two she knew better than the others.
She made a beeline for the door, yanking it open without much warning for the people on the opposite side.
Kagome didn't bat an eye at them as she made her way over the short distance to where Keith was. "What took you so long?" she asked. He looked at her with a flat expression.
"Woah! What's she doing here?"
"What do you mean?" he argued back, ignoring Lance's question just as she did. "I still had plenty of time- even with them showing up and getting in the way."
"Hey, I resent that!" That same voice from before cut in, and this time Kagome glanced at the three off to the side. "And, seriously, why is she here?"
Kagome arched a brow, resting a hand on her hip. "I suppose I could stand to ask you the same, McClain."
"It doesn't matter," Keith said. "We'll get Shiro inside and then you can catch up," he stated. Kagome sighed and shook her head.
Catch up on what, exactly…?
000
Kagome could feel the tense energy in the room, as much as she attempted to ignore it entirely. Her brother had been placed on his own in the bedroom, which left the rest of them scattered throughout the main room in the small building.
It was quiet as she sank down on the couch. She wasn't too worried about standing watch over her brother, not when she could sense the shift in his aura if something happened. She had plenty of questions, but she knew she had to wait to get the answers she desired.
She sighed and folded her arms across her chest.
"All right, seriously," Lance said, turning to eye her. She opened her eyes, arching a neat brow at having his attention directed at her. "You and mullet? What's going on here?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" she responded with a flat tone.
"You know!" he responded, jutting a finger in her direction with narrowed eyes. "How long have you two been out here together?"
"Since I left the Garrison," she remarked. "After my brother was pronounced missing, I suppose I didn't want to stay there any longer," she continued. Her tone left no room for prying questions, and Lance was swift in picking up on it.
"But all the way out here?" Hunk chimed in. "How come?"
Kagome shrugged. "I have my reasons," she responded just as calmly.
Her reasons came in the form of a nagging pulling at her senses- something that Keith could also feel- just not as strongly as she could.
"Woah!"
Kagome picked her head up at the startled noise from Pidge across from them. At the same time, a cream-colored feline bounded up onto her lap- startling the other two with her.
"Where did the cat come from?"
"Kirara's been here," she remarked. "With all the commotion, she must've just been observing from one of her usual perches." With no danger in sight, she'd waited for it to calm down before making her appearance. She curled up on her lap, and Kagome scratched her behind her ears. Kirara glanced up at her, and the miko sighed.
It was a waiting game, right now.
Auroua-chan: I wanted this to be a bit longer, but felt like this was a good stopping point.
Midoriko being Allura's mother? Hmm.. some stuff might change from that. How did she end up there? How did the jewel and Kirara return to Earth? All things that will be answered in upcoming chapters~
If it wasn't obvious already, this will stray from the canon story of V: LD
Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.
Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!
