Chapter 934
That Means We Went
John and John Henry came up with a plan to stop the trucks before they reached the mine. Cameron seemed a little less than enthusiastic about the plan.
"I don't think they liked the plan." John Henry said.
John looked over the satellite maps one more time.
"We need to do something." John said. "We need to start somewhere."
John Henry didn't know if the trucks carried any cargo or not.
"It would be better if we knew what was in the trucks first." John Henry said. "It would allow the girls to know how much force they could use if it was necessary."
John hoped John Henry would have been able to backtrack the truck's point of origin.
"You should have been able to run down a profile on them." John said. "We should at least know where they came from."
John Henry checked into that. The trucks were 'dirty' one way or another. The trucks were loosely associated with Syndicate operations but did a lot of freelance work.
"If their movements aren't Skynet related, they're hauling contraband of some kind." John Henry said. "Something illegal is going on. I think it's related to the mine. I'm sure that's their destination."
John didn't care for the reminder of the Syndicate and Skynet being associated with each other. He would go with John Henry's call that the trucks were 'dirty' no matter which organization they hauled cargo for. As long as they were in bed together, they would be treated equally. He looked at a drone image as the girls headed for their ambush location.
"The girls will be ready to act." John said. "They're moving into position as we speak. Do we know anything more about what happened at the rest stop?"
John Henry reviewed a drone image. He'd done a zoomed in image at the time. He'd actually done it because Cammy emerged from the restroom area with her top off. She'd exited the restroom area with Cam and Sheila. They waited outside for an unknown reason. Cammy put her top on as they waited. When he further reviewed the image, he noted some damage to her sheath.
"I know they cut Cammy open." John Henry said. "It was to check on her power cell."
John remembered back to when he'd needed to do that previously.
"I did that to Cameron once." John said.
John thought back on when Cameron stripped topless in front of him. He saw her true beauty as a 'female'. At the same time, she'd reminded him she was a machine. He was sure it was so he didn't expect too much from her as their 'relationship' progressed in whatever manner it did. It also reminded him that he'd delayed and damaged whatever that would be with his love affair with Future Riley.
John Henry reminded John of another ugly truth.
"That was right before you got her 'shot to pieces'." John Henry said.
John clenched his teeth and let out a long slow breath.
"Thanks for the reminder." John said. "I know I should have waited to get my mom out of the 'joint'."
John Henry pointed out it was because John damaged Cameron's sheath that she was unable to go into the future herself. She needed to use his chassis along with his program.
"That 'move' created an alternate timeline." John Henry said.
John always tried to convince himself that it was a positive event because he was able to see his father and the others, the others who had been killed previously.
"I think that was a good thing by the people we were able to 'resurrect'." John said.
John Henry wasn't so sure about that. It meant even more people were terminated by Skynet.
"It also created some new sets of 'problems'." John Henry said.
John was a little angry at this point. He didn't need to hear about his failures and shortcomings. He already knew them since he was the one who'd created them.
"What doesn't create a problem?" John asked.
John Henry reflected on some of the data in his server. There was no positive answer to John's question.
"It seems very little." John Henry said.
John was now forced to remember his foolishness for destroying Cameron when he sent her after his mother in jail. It was a decision he'd always regretted. He didn't think Cameron ever completely forgave him for that imbecilic event. How could she? He destroyed her beauty and neutralized her effectiveness for any further use of her in the public for weeks to come. What would have been lost by waiting a day or two more for Sarah's transfer? He'd lost sight of the ball and forgot his purpose in life. He'd like to blame it on his youth but he really didn't think that was an excuse. He really didn't want to relive any of that past right now.
"OK, that's enough. Drop it." John said. "We need to know what's inside the mine."
John Henry looked at John but made no further comment on the subject. He'd made his point. Every Terminator was aware of that incident and that John was willing to sacrifice Cameron or any of them for that matter. It wasn't a good feeling.
They all knew the 'Chosen Ones' would never do that. They would go themselves first. All of the Terminators would volunteer to go in their place because of that, even if it meant termination. They all witnessed what Savannah had done for Cameron. That act of sacrifice and bravery meant something to them. He was unaware that Young Allison, on her own initiative, just entered the target zone.
There was the leader of the Resistance. It was John.
There was a leader in the Resistance. It was Savannah.
There was also a new leader in the making. It was Young Allison.
Cameron received updates from John Henry and CamNet on the trucks. That was the top priority right now. They weren't going to allow the Skynet forces in the mine to be strengthened further. They didn't know what the cargo was that the big trucks carried. They weren't going to take any chances. They weren't going to allow any Cobalt or nuclear weapons in there for sure. She went over the drone footage images.
"There are three trucks." Cameron said. "They're all following each other. It should be an easy take down."
Cammy reviewed the images as well. She looked for anything that could be an additional threat either in front of or behind the big rigs.
"I've viewed the drone footage." Cammy said. "There don't appear to be any chase or guide vehicles."
Savannah felt that should play into their favor. They would be fewer targets for them to deal with. The issue was exactly how they would take the trucks down. Since they were on the road and moving, it would be a little more difficult unless they were stopped.
"Are we going to stage an accident?" Savannah asked. "We've used that tactic before."
Cameron wasn't sure what they would do since there were three trucks. She thought it would be a little more predictable with one truck. That wasn't the case.
"If they're on a timetable, they may move onto the shoulder and keep going." Cameron said.
Savannah was about to suggest that one of them could show a little 'skin'. If the drivers were Grays, it would definitely get their attention. If they were Syndicate thugs, it wouldn't mean much to them. They seemed to have access to plenty of young females before they were shipped off into the sex trade and a very short life. She decided to moderate her suggestion.
"There might be more than one way we could use an 'incentive' to catch their attention." Savannah said.
Cammy reviewed the satellite image in her file. She took out her phone and called the image up and showed it to Savannah.
"There is a bridge across a dry creek not far from here. We can move our Terminators under the bridge and spring the trap from there." Cammy said.
They all felt the vehicle swerve.
Cameron lowered her left hand from the steering wheel.
Savannah knew trouble when it happened. Cameron was clearly agitated. She didn't think it had anything to do with their conversation or her suggestion.
"Cameron, what's wrong?" Savannah asked.
Savannah could tell that something major must have happened for Cameron to appear so distressed in such a short time. It seemed to be almost instantaneous.
Cameron was given an update by CamNet. Based on the current circumstances and their situation, it was about the worst news she could receive. There was a lot of uncertainty and danger around them.
"I've received disturbing news from CamNet." Cameron said.
It made Savannah wonder if Skynet already attacked since it felt threatened by them. She hoped that wasn't the case.
"What is it?" Savannah asked. "What's happened?"
Savannah expected the worst.
Cameron needed to get herself under control. She wanted to do that mainly because Savannah was there with her. She knew then it was too late to stop it, so she might as well clue everybody in as to what was going to happen.
"We're about to receive two visitors very soon." Cameron said.
Savannah thought about Cameron's reaction to the information she'd received from CamNet. She figured that John was on the way. That would crimp their operation. John anywhere near the battlefield was a serious impediment.
"Is it John?" Savannah asked.
She hoped that it wasn't. She knew Cameron would send all her help to protect John if it was. This would reduce the fighting force to only Cameron and her. She would try to keep Cammy or Samantha with them.
Cameron really didn't know what to say. It was clear someone pulled a fast one and they needed to have CamNet's help to make it happen. That fact in itself seemed to be a serious infraction and overuse of power by CamNet.
"It's even worse than John coming here." Cameron said.
Savannah and Cammy looked at each other. What was worse than John showing up?
The realization hit Savannah like a ton of bricks. She'd actually expected this sooner. It was all tied together.
"I know who it is. It's Allison – Young Allison." Savannah said.
Cameron was pleased that Savannah was able to figure it out so quickly.
"Yes." Cameron said. "It's Young Allison and Anna."
Savannah thought she would be angrier than she was. She wasn't angry at all. Somehow it all made sense now. She wondered earlier at what point that Young Allison would be there with them. She could still see that Cameron was highly upset. She wanted to ease her mind some.
"Cameron, based on what we found inside Cammy, I believe this is all supposed to happen this way." Savannah said. "I actually expected her to arrive earlier."
Cammy thought about all of the assistance that Young Allison provided them with recently. It was a lot and it helped them a lot.
"Young Allison has been very instrumental to everything about this operation over the last few days." Cammy said.
Savannah remembered the words that Cameron told her only a few minutes ago. It seemed those words were very prophetic now.
"You wanted me to speak with her." Savannah said. "Now I'll be able to do that, face to face."
Cammy noticed that Cameron relaxed after Savannah said she expected Young Allison to show up. She wondered if it upset Savannah.
"Are you angry at Young Allison for coming?" Cammy asked.
Savannah thought about what she actually felt. There was a lot of worry. It wasn't anger. It might have been more of a sense of relief. It would help her solve the mystery of Cammy's missing power cell and hopefully what was placed inside of the mine more than half of a century ago.
"No, I'm not angry or upset. After I saw the writing on the message inside you, Cammy, I was pretty sure she would come to where we were." Savannah said. "This is all tied together somehow without anyone knowing all the pieces. That's by design. That took planning for a reason. I'm not sure we even know what that is yet in its entirety."
Cameron tilted her head slightly as Savannah spoke about everything being done in such a manner that no one individual knew what happened or why. Cameron replayed Savannah's earlier conversation with Young Allison. She was able to make sense of a few more things.
"I noticed earlier that you wanted to make Young Allison promise you not to come but you didn't." Cameron said.
Savannah felt she needed to allow Young Allison to have some leeway to make some choices and decisions on her own. She didn't want to be overly controlling. She would rather be a moderating force.
"I did want to do that and I didn't want to force her to promise." Savannah said. "I didn't want her to have to break her promise. In this case I felt she would. That would have troubled her greatly."
Cameron wanted to point out the obvious to Savannah.
"Young Allison lied to you." Cameron said.
Savannah felt it was all a matter of perspective. She wanted to point that out to Cameron. Technically Cameron was right and Young Allison did lie to her or did she?
"We all lie, Cameron." Savannah said. "Her heart is pure and her motives are well intended. She didn't want us to worry. She's doing what she believes she needs to do to protect us. We would all do the same thing. She did say that she would return home. She didn't specify exactly when that would be even though we were led to believe it would be right after the conversation. When we're done here she will return home and fulfill what she actually told us earlier. There was a certain amount of deception to it but she'll return home like she said she would."
Cameron tilted her head slightly with Savannah's explanation.
At this point Savannah hoped that they would all return home. Based upon the note left in Cammy she thought that was debatable at this point. There was still the strong possibility that not all of them would return home. Then again this entire event was designed to make sure that they all did.
Cameron tilted her head slightly to the side as she processed everything.
She thought about it all for a few seconds. She knew that to be true. There were times she needed to lie to John, both of them. She was certain she would lie to protect Savannah and Young Allison. She then added John to that thought as well.
Cammy hoped that Young Allison would be the key to allow the rest of their files that were locked to unlock. She didn't know that for sure but she hoped so.
"I think once she reads the note she wrote in the past, she'll be able to unlock files in Sheila and I." Cammy said. "Probably by voice command or a password would be my guess."
Savannah wanted Anna and Young Allison fully briefed if they weren't already. She thought about the satellite image Cammy just showed her on her phone. She was sure what Young Allison would do next.
"Have CamNet fill Anna in on what we're going to do at the bridge." Savannah said. "I already know what Young Allison and Anna are going to do to stop the trucks."
Cameron calculated several dozen scenarios in a second. None of them looked safe for Young Allison. All of them looked like a 'bad idea' to her. She thought that said something because she was known for 'bad ideas' herself.
"That will put her in harm's way." Cameron said as she thought about what Savannah indicated.
Savannah didn't believe it would do any good to tell Young Allison not to do what she was sure she was going to do. She wanted to be able to give Young Allison the maximum amount of support once she landed.
"It will stop the trucks." Savannah said. "I want to be at the far end of the bridge where Young Allison will be."
Cammy wanted to be where Young Allison would be at as well. She wanted some answers.
"I'll accompany you." Cammy said. "Hopefully Young Allison can get some more information out of me."
Cameron understood the importance of that. She agreed with the idea. They needed to know more and they needed to know it soon.
"I'll have Sheila there as well." Cameron said. "The rest of us will take down the trucks when they are forced to stop."
There was a chance that the trucks wouldn't stop for what they thought Young Allison would do.
Savannah wanted to go over everything with Young Allison ahead of time.
"I'll call Young Allison and make sure what she is planning." Savannah said. "I know it's what I would do."
Samantha spoke for the first time on the drive.
"You seem very happy, Savannah." Samantha said.
Savannah was happy. She was also worried because Young Allison was in the danger zone but she was pleased with everything that it represented.
"I am." Savannah said. "The future is knocking."
Samantha wasn't sure of all the details.
"Why?" Samantha asked.
Cameron looked over at Savannah and then at Samantha.
"Figure it out." Cameron said. "It means I speed up the 'Natural Order' or I will soon."
Cameron and Savannah both knew what events would follow after the 'temporal maturation'. Now they needed to hope that Young Allison didn't do anything too risky or foolish. They both knew she would always 'push the outside of the envelope'.
Gail's team received new instructions. They weren't all happy with them. They would need to do a personnel shift.
"We'll lose Sheila but we will get Samantha." Ally said.
Gail was displeased with the new arrangement. She didn't feel Savannah would have enough protection. She wanted to be closer to where Savannah was at.
"That still leaves Savannah and Young Allison vulnerable." Gail said. "I want to take the first truck so we are closer to them."
Gail wanted to make sure she could reinforce Savannah and Young Allison if the need arose. She felt that there were too many unknowns going into the attack.
Since Sheila would be leaving the vehicle she wanted to give Ally some parting advice and encouragement.
"That will give you two the opportunity to 'hit on' Samantha." Sheila said.
Ally was a little jealous that Sheila would be able to be with Savannah and Young Allison.
"We would all rather 'hit on' Savannah." Ally said.
Sheila shrugged her shoulders.
"I'd say get in line but I didn't make the assignments." Sheila said.
Gail didn't care for the sexual innuendo talk about Savannah. She felt she'd made herself clear earlier. She wanted to prepare for the attack.
"We will have a team of three." Gail said. "That's good for the first truck."
Ally thought two of the teams would be adequately staffed. Cameron's wasn't going to be.
"That leaves Cameron by herself then." Ally said.
Gail didn't think so. She figured Cam would need to give up one of her team.
"Cameron will pick Holly or Hanna to assist her." Gail said.
Ally sure hoped Cameron picked some additional help. It could get dicey for her otherwise if she didn't.
"I sure hope so." Ally said.
Cam listened as the duty assignments were switched between Gail's vehicle and Cameron's vehicle. She looked at Holly and Hanna.
"One of you two will need to accompany Cameron." Cam said.
The Metal girls heard the conversation as well. They were both ready to act.
"I will." Hanna and Holly both said at the same time.
Cam made the choice for them
"Holly can go." Cam said. "Hanna will stay with me."
Holly was very worried about the recent turn in events. She hadn't expected Young Allison to enter the combat zone. She knew that was going to cause a major problem for her when her mother found out.
"I don't like Young Allison being so close to potential combat." Holly said.
Claire was Hanna's human lover. She wanted to look out for Claire's best interest but it appeared that the mission would need to come first in the current case.
"I don't think her mother is going to be pleased about this." Hanna said.
Cam didn't see the need to volunteer any unnecessary information.
"I suggest you don't mention it, unless it comes up." Cam said.
Holly wasn't going to 'spill the beans'. She wasn't so sure about Hanna.
"I don't want Young Allison to be in trouble." Holly said. "I won't mention it."
Holly looked at Hanna. She was worried that since Hanna was Claire's lover. It might come up when it didn't need to come up.
Hanna didn't like the way Holly looked at her. She didn't want to get Young Allison in trouble.
"I won't volunteer that information either." Hanna said.
Cam figured that Hanna wouldn't squeal on Young Allison because if Claire was upset, then things weren't going to happen between Hanna and Claire. She looked up ahead at Cameron's SUV.
"Cameron is about to make the switch with personnel." Cam said.
Young Allison pushed the Cessna just past the 'redline'. She wanted to make up time.
She was aware that she'd crossed a few 'lines' today and lied to the people she loved. She felt compelled to be there. They would have tried to stop her otherwise. Now she was already there. It was too late to stop her now.
Young Allison was a little concerned when the flak would start. She didn't mean the kind that would be directed at the aircraft either. She meant the kind that would be directed at her personally. She knew she was going to have to 'Pay The Piper', she just didn't know when.
"I want to know what everyone's thinking." Young Allison said.
Anna didn't think now is the right time for Young Allison to worry about that. There was a lot going to happen. Any issues like that could be discussed later on. They needed to take down the objective first. She wanted to give her a little reassurance.
"No one is angry at you, if that's what you mean." Anna said.
Young Allison wasn't sure about that but so far no one had said anything. She was pretty sure at some point they were going to.
"I was worried about that." Young Allison said. "It bothered me."
Anna filled Young Allison in on the plan Cameron wanted to enact. She was sure Young Allison would want to add to the plan to ensure that the trucks would stop on the bridge. Everything hinged on that.
"What's your plan?" Anna asked.
Young Allison didn't think the trucks would necessarily stop for what appeared to be an 'accident' along the side of the road. She was pretty sure that they would stop if the road was blocked with something else.
"I want to set the plane down on the road in front of the trucks." Young Allison said. "I can do it right at the end of the bridge. That will trap all of the trucks on the bridge."
Anna already figured that's what Young Allison would do. She wanted to know the details.
"How will you approach?"
Young Allison wanted to make it look like a realistic incident with the Cessna.
"I'm going to cut the power and 'dead stick' it in to make it look like an actual emergency landing." Young Allison said.
Anna tilted her head slightly. She realized if the power was cut, it would be an 'emergency landing'.
"At that point it really will be." Anna said.
Young Allison felt that she would have enough time to make a single pass to get a look at her 'runway'.
"I'll overfly the route and double check my landing zone first." Young Allison said.
Anna was updated in detail by CamNet about all the conversations that occurred in the restroom and afterwards between Savannah, Cammy and Sheila.
"There's another matter that will need your attention." Anna said.
Young Allison was a little worried it was going to be her 'chewing out'.
"What is it?" Young Allison asked.
Anna knew of the note Savannah held that apparently was written by Young Allison.
"I'll let Savannah explain it to you." Anna said.
Young Allison took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
"Oh boy, here it comes." Young Allison said. "She's going to chew me out."
Young Allison expected the worst. She was very worried she'd disappointed Savannah.
Anna knew a lot more of the details than Young Allison did.
"I don't think so." Anna said.
Young Allison was still quite apprehensive. She felt there was a lot she needed to answer for.
"I know I did something." Young Allison said.
Anna thought she could give Young Allison a clue.
"You did." Anna said. "Half a century ago…."
Young Allison listened to what Anna said. See mulled it over in her mind for a few seconds before it finally hit her.
"Do you mean…." Young Allison started to ask before she paused.
It appeared to Anna that everything Young Allison wanted must have already happened, even though it hadn't happened yet.
"Yes." Anna said. "That means we went or we will."
A giant smile blossomed on Young Allison's face. With what little information she had, it sounded like she was responsible for something major.
"Did I act on my own here?" Young Allison asked. "Whatever it was that I did?"
Anna didn't know all the details but that was the indication.
"It appears that way." Anna said.
Young Allison figured that there must be a whole list of events that she'd be held accountable for. It worried her a little about the ones that somehow had already happened in the past that she hadn't done yet. She wasn't sure how that was going to play out.
"Oh, brother…." Young Allison said. "They are all going to be on my case about what I've done the last few days and in the past."
Anna was very proud of everything Young Allison accomplished in the last few days.
"They have all been good things so far." Anna said.
Young Allison doubted it was going to be that way for everything
"What about what I did in the past?" Young Allison asked.
Anna didn't have an answer for that.
"I guess we will find out." Anna said.
Young Allison figured if she was going to go over everyone's head or around them that she would do it big. With everything that they knew so far, that's exactly what it sounded like to her.
"It will probably turn out I set off the H-bomb." Young Allison said. "That's not going to go over well."
Anna believed the events would need to play out for them to know that answer.
"It depends if that is really what it is and how it was done." Anna said. "So far there hasn't been an explosion. That does it mean there won't be one."
Young Allison was willing to step outside of the line to protect those that she loved the most. If that's what she'd done, then that's what she'd done. She was prepared to live with those consequences if the ones she loved were protected.
"I would only do that to save Savannah, Cameron or John." Young Allison said. "I'll do anything to protect them."
Young Allison knew if that wasn't what she'd done. It was something she would do without hesitation to protect the 'Natural Order'.
Seems Like A Lot
When one seeks another
What is it that's sought
Hopefully it can be earned
And not something bought
With what does one need pay
How much of our soul need we allot
To be treated just and fair
What battles will need be fought
We already know how the story ends
They all share the same evil plot
We will be told maybe we misread
Reality is history we forgot
As all things inevitably transpire
Our self worth will be naught
Everything once again for nothing
The total sum will add to nought
It is nothing, not a big deal
Is said when they are caught
To the one savagely crushed
It seems like a lot
Nobody
