Chapter 5:What's Going On
Scarlett,Henry and Leo ran at one at a time downstairs. The idea that these were kids born and bred in the city allowed them skip steps as they ran and not touch the handrail as they go because of the "germs" that city kids know live on walls and railings of the subway and othe public places. They couldn't wait to see what was going on outside, by the time all three of them had stampeded outside to see the construction it was busy with activity. The onsite person was wearing a yellow hard hat, they moved towards him quickly.
All three kids were talking at once, but, one was heard clearly,
"What's going on?",asked Scarlett to the on-site supervisor.
"Oh thank goodness! You got out on time!",shouted the construction worker happily.
Scarlett looked at him in confusion. Then, she looks at the gang, who were as shocked as she was. Leo and Henry both shrugged their arms at the same time. She turned to look back at the construction worker, she then asked the construction worker again about what was going on. He was ready to give a full answer as to what was happening. The kids really just had to stop and listen to understand. After Scarlett had asked him, he mumbled something that had made Scarlett,Henry and Leo's mouths drop,
"We're e closing the place and then remodeling it.",said the on-site construction head.
