That morning, Hermione and Theo made their way to Headquarters to talk to Lucius Malfoy. Draco was a nervous wreck, absolutely convinced that something was going to go wrong, but they shrugged him off and made their way over. When they arrived, Hermione was glad to find that the Order had him locked in a small barred room. Hermione and Theo stood outside the door and with a breath (and four Order Members stationed behind them, entered the room.
"Good morning, Father-in-Law," chirped Theo jovially.
"Ah, if it isn't my children-in-law," Lucius sneered. "Where is my disappointment of a son?"
"Our husband," Hermione said primly "is at his apprenticeship. He didn't want to see you."
"We, on the other hand," Theo continued with a grin, wandlessly conjuring a chair and pulling Hermione into his lap, "have a proposition for you."
"Information for leeway," Hermione said, trying to ignore the flush that was covering her cheeks from her husband's hands on her hips.
"I want no time in Azkaban, only House Arrest," Lucius said with a smirk, "I am willing to share anything with the Order about the Dark Lord and his regime as long as the Order wins, if they lose, you'd be required to release me back to the Dark Lord."
"We would be willing to make that deal, depending on your information," Kingsley Shaklebolt said from the doorway.
"I'd require an Unbreakable Vow," Lucius said, a glint in his eye, "with Miss Granger."
"There is no Miss Granger, so you'll have to select someone else," Theo said, smugly.
His jaw tightened, "Are you referring to Lady Malfoy Nott?" KIngsley said with a grin when Lucius nodded minutely.
"We'll have to hear you say it," Theo said, holding her tighter.
"I will only agree to turn Traitor if I make an Unbreakable Vow with Hermione Malfoy Nott," he ground out.
"We have something worded already," Kingsley said, "here it is." He handed Lucius the paper with a flourish.
"No," he said firmly. "I refuse to agree to not hurting any member of the Order. If we lose, I will not die because I cannot help myself. I also want this deal to be kept in perpetuity. Nothing else I do can be held against me."
Kingsley looked at him harshly for a few moments and nodded, "I will agree to the first part, you should be able to hold your station, but I refuse the part about perpetuity."
"For the remainder of the War then" Lucius said with a sigh. I do not want anything else from this or previous Wars to be able to be held against me."
After a few edits to the page, Kingsley nodded, "Is this acceptable?"
Lucius looked it over again and nodded. Hermione stood and stretched out an arm to him, Kingsley acted as the bonder.
"Do you vow to tell the Order of the Phoenix everything you know about Tom Riddle and his Death Eaters?" Kingsley intoned.
"I do."
He turned to Hermione, "Does the Order Vow to only punish Lucius Malfoy with House Arrest for his crimes enacted during the War against Tom Riddle?"
"We do," she said quietly.
With a seal of magic, the bond settled around Hermione and Lucius' wrist. She tried to pull her wrist away, but was held steady. "Now, now, Miss Granger," he said softly, "You didn't think I'd let you get away that easily, did you?"
He held his hand up to his face and blew a powder at her with a smirk and the world went dark.
I'm so sorry...
