Chapter 91 The Return of the Living Dead

At the base Takashi and the others are getting ready to go out.
"Are you sure we should go out?" Kohta asked.
"Judai is too busy and we need to check the outside a bit." Takashi said.
"Well we better go fast." Saeko said.
Akame was waiting and she opens the doors for them. "Be careful out there."
"Hey don't worry. It's just a quick check to see where we can get more stuff." Takashi said.
She nodded. "Good luck."
"Does she really have to say that." Saya frowns.
The group went outside as Akame closes the gates and waits for when they will come back.
Takashi and the others went down a road near the base.
But then they heard a growl.
"What was that?!" Takashi whispers.
Then a zombie that was melting called Tarman came out and looked at them.
"Is it melting?" Rei questions in surprise.
He looks at them before it spoke. "Brains."
"D-did it just spoke?" Saeko questions a bit surprised.
He goes to attack and they dodged it.
"Give me your brains!" He said.
Kohta quickly shoots it in the head, Tarman flinches before he shakes his head.
"That didn't work?!" Kohta questions in surprise.
"It must be able to take a lot of damage even from headshots." Takashi said.
Saeko slashes his head off, Tarman got surprised and looks for his head.
"Slashing the head works somewhat." Saeko said.
"Keep slashing it!" Rei said.
Saeko charges but the body rolls to the side getting his head, they saw him put it back together.
"Brains now!" Tarman said a bit angrily.
"Run!" Takashi said as the creature chases them.
"What kind of zombie is this?! It goes against everything we know!" Saya yelled.
"Then again we don't really know much about the zombies do we?" Takashi said.
"Are you crazy?! After the last mutations that happened this is completly different!" Saya said.
"Plus it seems picky to what he eats." Kohta said.
"Yeah brains." Rei said.
"Do you think Pest made this one special or did it become this due to someone else?" Saeko questions.
"Well first we gotta get away." Takashi said.
"The one day you two didn't bring your belts." Saya said.
"Yeah. That was a bad move on our parts." Takashi said with self-admonishment in his tone.
They went inside a building and locked the door behind them.
"Alright that should keep it out hopefully." Takashi said.
Tarman looks before he saw a punk come out.
"What?!" The punk got shocked.
"Oh, more brains." Tarman grabs him and eats his head making the guy scream.
The group hears the scream and realizes the Tarman must have gotten a victim.
"Poor guy." Kohta said in sympathy.
"Hey a lighter." Takashi said finding a lighter and checking if it still works.
"What are you going to do with it?" Rei asked.
"Hey if there is a can of hair spray, we can use them as a flamethrower." Kohta said.
They looked around and saw it was a old store.
"What are the chances?" Saeko questions in surprise.
"After we take care of Tarman we should scavenge this place later." Saya said.
"If we can even put him down." Takashi said.
"If we can't kill it we could trap it somehow." Rei said.
"That will take too much time, we need to distract him and head back to base." Takashi said.
"We could split up. One group keeps it distracted while the other group goes back to get help." Saeko suggests.
"I have a better idea." Takashi takes out a spray can and checks for materials.
Tarman waited around before the door opened as fire shot at him making him scream.
Then they threw a net they made as they ran back to the base.
"That should keep him down for a while." Takashi said.
"But this guy is just creepy." Rei said.
Tarman looks around and looks for where they went.
The group managed to get some distance.
"We're free." Kohta said.
But then they heard someone crying making them look around.
"Is that someone crying?" Rei questions in surprise.
They went to check and saw the Witch kneeling down holding her face.
"Are those claws?" Rei questions in a whisper since they don't want to get the attention of the witch.
"Let's not disturb her." Saeko said.
"Yeah let's not." Rei whispers.
They sneaked around slowly so she wouldn't hear them.
They managed to get away from her without any problems.
Kohta bumped into a can that made a echo, they got worried as she grunts.
But then she went back to crying as she stands up and starts wondering around.
"That was too close." Takashi said.
They went foward but then she looks at them and screams.
"Run!" He said.
They run as fast as they can from her but she was quickly gaining on them.
"Now how are we supposed to avoid this one?!" Saya said.
"I don't know!" Takashi said.
They pass by a truck and the witch saw sugar inside of it.
She then goes to it and starts eating the sugar surprising them.
"So she likes sugar?" Rei questions.
"Good to know, let's go." Takashi said.
"At least we know how to distract her and others of her kind if we see them." Saya said as they keep moving.
They managed to get back to the base and Kohta said: "That was too close."
"This is getting insane." Takashi said referring to the Tarman and the Witch.
"Theres been too many new mutations, Pest knew and he's making sure they are after us." Saya said.
"I really hate that guy." Takashi said with a frown.
"Hey Saya are you excited about your wedding?" Saeko said.
"W-why are you asking that now?" Saya stutters with a bit of a blush.
"Well it's almost time." Saeko said.
"Fine I am excited but still its happening in a world filled with zombies." Saya said as she was worried about the future.
"Hey Judai is still trying to fix that, plus a wedding is a normal thing we can do." Takashi said.
"I know but still." Saya shrugs.
"You're afraid to bring a child in this world." Saeko said surprising them.
"There is that. I'm scared for Poyo and any other child I end up having in the future." Saya said.
"We'll make sure to change it, since Judai knows if Pest is gone then the world is safe." Rei said.
"You're right." Saya said with a small smile but she was still plagued by fear.
"Until then, just enjoy your new life as you'll have a wonderful daughter." Saeko smiles.
Saya smiles a bit bigger at the thought of being able to hold Poyo soon.
They went inside to get some rest and they wonder what Judai is doing but they'll have to wait for they're leader.
Note: Heres a side chapter with Takashi and the others checking the city and they were chased by the Witch and Tarman from Return of the Living dead, which is one of my favorite zombie movies.
