Chapter One: The Shop in the Town of Beginnings

It's been one month since the official launch of Sword Art Online. 2000 people have died already, and we haven't even cleared the first floor. Apparently there's going to be a meeting today where some of the best players will band together to find and defeat the boss, but I wasn't invited of course. After all, I'm not an adventurer like the rest of these guys. When I got this game, I ironically didn't get it because of the sword skills and cool fantasy fights or what have you. No, I've never been one for fighting. I'm more interested in the stories. This game is set in a fantasy setting and with that setting, come cool monsters. Now I'd never fight one myself, but there are people here who would.

I've always been obsessed with stories of epic battles with monsters and stuff so I thought I'd get the game and live in that world to hear about those stories when they've actually happened, not just made up ones. Of course, little did I know that we'd end up stuck in here with no way out. Still, that's almost all the more reason for me to stay safe in the city, the Town of Beginnings. People cannot die in safe zones like cities, Kayaba-san was nice enough to give us that much at least. Of course, just walking around town would be boring as all hell, but this game lets you learn more than just fighting skills.

Many of the buildings in the Town of Beginnings were vacant and a lot of them were unused, so it was up to us players to fill them. Utilizing the different skill trees, some people have opened up shops like blacksmiths, restaurants, banks, you name it. This is what I wanted to do when I first got the game and even with the logout feature gone, I stuck to it. After a month of hunting low level monsters for their food and stuff and doing basic quests for the past month, I finally saved up enough col and supplies to open my own tavern right here in the city! Today marks the grand opening of my tavern and with the raid party meeting today, I can only hope that we'll be getting business within the week, assuming they can dispatch the boss soon of course.
