Chapter 1524
Evening Drive
Young Allison took the last sip of her malt. It made a sucking sound as it ran dry.
Anna looked over at her.
"I'm sorry." Young Allison said.
Anna didn't think it was a big deal.
"Just don't forget to brush your teeth later on." Anna said. "Proper dental hygiene is very important."
Young Allison set her empty malt cup down. She sat up in her chair as Cam headed down the sloped shaft to the next level. She was concealed on the electric tram.
"I bet we're going to lose contact with her." Young Allison said.
It wasn't long before they did.
"John Henry has sent Toto to follow her." Anna said.
Young Allison thought about it.
She knew there was a female Terminator across from the rest of the team by one of the clean rooms.
"Toto needs to use caution and hold once it's in place at the top of the shaft." Young Allison said. "If it goes down, it won't be able to act as a repeater for Cam's equipment."
Anna sent a message to John Henry.
Cam was crouched down on the drawbar between the last two mine cars on the tram. It was on its way down to Level Five. The length of the descent was much deeper than the other levels were. She peeked around the side of the car to see where they were going. She could hear heavy machinery working ahead of her. It looked like this was much more extensive than they'd originally thought. The tram began to slow. The drawbars were fixed, so there was almost no play, or slack, between the cars. They could only move side to side to make turns. It was a good thing based on where she was at.
There was another big explosive blast. This one was very loud. She was very near where it happened. There was a dust cloud. The tram slowed almost to a crawl. She took the opportunity to get out from between the last two cars and move in back of the last one. She was on foot now. She crouched down and followed the tram. She kept watch behind her up the ramp to make sure no one spotted her.
Cam spotted several barrels up ahead on her right side. As they got closer, she could see there were a lot of barrels there. They were all the chemicals needed to mix the nitro.
The dust cloud started to dissipate. She made her move as the tram started to move again. She went behind the barrels. They would give her some cover. She knew if she was discovered, she would need to fight her way out. She hoped not to get into a firefight in her current location with all the different chemicals around her. It would probably end catastrophically at some point as the chemicals begin to mix.
There was one other ominous consideration. There would be at least one Terminator down there. They would be the one who mixed and handled the nitro. It was her biggest threat.
The tram pulled away and almost immediately another loaded one passed it on the left side and started back up. She was tempted to get on it and ride it back up to Level Four. She wanted to look around some more first where she was at. She figured she could hitch a ride soon enough on the next one. Depending upon what she encountered, there might not be a next one.
She checked her com. It was silent. She set her last repeater out at the bottom of the sloped shaft. There was still nothing. Someone would need to set one up at the top of the shaft. This looked like it was going to be a challenging recon going forward. She drew her silenced M9. The chances were good when she fired it, it may or may not alert the Terminator down there. She holstered it and would rely on her hands to do the killing if necessary. She was a Terminator after all.
Seconds ago:
Gail kept her eye on the female Terminator. She watched as the 'Metal Bitch' went inside the finished clean room.
Jim looked at his phone.
"I just lost Cam's body cam." Jim said.
Bob calculated the speed of the empty tram and the sound it made as it descended.
"The next level is much deeper." Bob said.
Gail took out a repeater.
"I need to get this over to the top of the sloped shaft to reestablish a link." Gail said.
Just then, the female Terminator exited the finished clean room. She paused and looked around. The team was out of sight at this point.
Gail looked with one eye around the side of a crate and watched the female Terminator enter the second clean room. Two Grays exited out of it as she entered. They'd evidently placed the crate they'd removed from Level Three inside of the second clean room. They went off in the direction the tram full of rock went earlier.
She wanted to reestablish a communication link with Cam. Her biggest threat at detection would be from the 'Metal Bitch'. Currently she seemed occupied.
"I'm going to place a repeater now." Gail said.
It seemed unsafe to move right now to Jim and Bob.
"Maybe we should wait a few minutes to see what happens." Bob said.
Gail paused. She still wanted to place the repeater. She didn't want to remain out of contact with Cam.
They could hear a metallic clicking sound. It was music to their ears.
"Here comes Toto." Gail said.
John Henry redirected Toto to head back to where the team was at.
"I've lost all communication with Cam." John Henry said.
Summer thought Toto could reestablish it.
"Just get Toto to the sloped shaft and see what happens." Summer said. "Cam's com and body cam should be picked up by the repeater she placed on Toto earlier."
John Henry guided Toto in the direction when there was another blast. He was glad to see Toto wasn't knocked over again. He didn't want any of the devices they'd rigged to it to become detached. He certainly didn't want someone to find one of the detached devices and try to figure out what it was and where it came from.
Toto moved to the sloped shaft and paused. The link was reestablished.
Cam was about to move when she picked up com traffic again. It was the team deciding what they should do about her. She wanted to let them know there wasn't a problem yet. Well, there was a problem. She still needed to get out of where she was at.
"I'm fine." Cam said.
She quickly filled them in on what she was able to observe where she was at. She still hadn't identified the Terminator yet. She hoped he didn't suddenly appear behind her. She kept a watchful eye around her and her Taser ready.
Gail, Bob and Jim were relieved to hear from Cam again. Toto was able to reestablish the link with the repeater Cam placed at the bottom of the shaft.
"I need to place a repeater myself." Gail said. "Toto can't just stand there for a long time. Someone's going to notice and either go over to see why it's standing there, or alert someone else to the fact it was just standing there."
Bob knew she was correct. There was a risk involved. He was ready to create a diversion if necessary.
"Go ahead." Bob said. "If the female Terminator comes out and heads in your direction, we will draw her attention."
Jim drew his silenced M9. He quickly devised the best scenario which might allow for the capture of the 'Metal Bitch'.
"I'll shoot her once." Jim said. "I'll move off so she can see me. I'll move past Bob. She should follow me past Bob and he can 'zap' her."
Bob liked the plan. It was much like a scenario he'd used before with John in a warehouse. He checked his Taser and pulse shocker.
"Affirmative…." Bob said.
Gail moved out as Toto moved off.
They received some additional instructions from John Henry.
Summer heard what the plan was. Cam needed to get out first.
"Try to use Toto to distract the female Terminator first before the team needs to engage her." Summer said. "Cam needs to be back up to their level before it turns into a firefight."
John Henry thought it sounded better than engaging the Terminator directly as Jim and Bob planned. There was a risk she would raise an alarm first.
"I'll do it." John Henry said.
Summer wanted a better plan.
"This is what I want you to try…." Summer said.
John Henry liked the plan and advised Jim and Bob what he would do.
Gail watched Toto move away from the sloped shaft as she approached. She made her way over to it quickly. There wasn't much cover. She could hear a heavy electric whine. She quickly set the repeater and spotted a tram on its way back up. The sloped shaft was quite long and went very deep. This new part of the mine angled off from where the rest of the mine was at. There was nothing but solid rock over the top of it to the surface. It was in a bunker buster proof location.
There was the sound of two men talking. She didn't see them earlier and still didn't. She moved behind a pile of rocks, trash and other debris.
The men were very near now. She could hear what they said. It displeased her greatly.
"I'm sorry to hear the chick didn't make it." The first man said. "We won't get to 'do' her anymore. Gomez is going to get another one tomorrow."
"If she's still warm, it's almost the same. I've needed to do it a few times when someone got carried away before. Some guys like to be a 'double veteran'." The second man said. "She wasn't moving much anymore anyway. She probably would've turned out to be a slut or a whore anyway."
Both men laughed.
"We just gave her a little head start." The first man said. "The best part was, it didn't cost us anything."
Both men laughed louder.
Gail touched her silenced M9. She wanted to terminate them. It sounded like one of the Grays killed the girl, or she'd terminated from the abusive treatment.
The whine of the tram grew louder and louder as it worked up the steep grade. She lost the voices. She still never saw them.
The tram was slow as it emerged onto Level Four. It either carried a heavy load, or it needed to be recharged. She thought it would be more efficient if they used a power cell from a Terminator in it.
She headed back to where she'd left Bob and Jim.
Cam was able to retain good communications after Gail placed the repeater.
She made sure her body cam was unobstructed. She wanted to keep verbal communication to a minimum as she looked around. She needed to find out where the Terminator was at. She took stock of the chemicals in the barrels.
There was a large depression in the rock near where they were. It gave her an idea to leave a parting gift behind when she left.
There was a lot of noise as the tram was loaded by some type of electric scoop.
She needed to find the large power cells. She was sure they were around there somewhere.
The question was, where?
Dan and Frank would act as the advanced scouts for Sheila's group. They'd previously stalked the parks and the streets of San Francisco at night when they were there to provide extra muscle for the group when they went off of the ship on their tour. They knew their way around the city. Knowing a map was one thing, knowing the shortcuts was another. They knew both. San Francisco was a very compact location.
CamNet provided them with advanced targeting information and where to find the group they sought. They headed directly in the specific direction.
Cammy, Ally and Leticia were with Sheila. They were about to search out the gang they ran afoul of a few days ago when they visited San Francisco overnight on the cruise ship.
Leticia sat next to Sheila in the front seat.
"So tell me again what's going to happen." Leticia said.
Sheila smiled. She wanted to lay it out and see how far Leticia was willing to go.
"We're going to hunt down the street gang who accosted you in the park and threatened you with repeated abuse." Sheila said. "I'm going to terminate each one of them, one at a time, since they've re-entered my park. They were warned to stay out of my park. It will be violent and bloody. Is it something you can deal with?"
Leticia saw the violence Sheila unleashed on the two females where they'd been taken captive for a short time. It was gruesome and horrific. They were still alive before the explosion and fire. She knew it was done purposefully so they would suffer more as they died.
"Are you going to do to the female gang banger what you did to the other two females?" Leticia asked.
Sheila tilted her head slightly. Her treatment had been very brutal of the two female enablers at the florist shop. There was no reason she couldn't do the same thing there. In fact, it was a good idea.
"Yes." Sheila said.
Leticia didn't like how threatened she'd felt by the gang.
"I know what she was going to do to us." Leticia said. "Good."
Sheila smiled. It seemed like a good idea to 'work' on her now but not finish it. It would make a point if the female were to remain alive for a period of time. It would set an example of what would happen to other gang members.
"I'm up for it." Sheila said. "I'm going to work on her extensively. I don't want to terminate her outright. I want her to live for a while with her new look. I want her to know she threatened the wrong people. We can always make another trip back later and finish it."
Sheila knew there was a pretty good chance the female gang member might self terminate after she was done 'working' on her. It wouldn't be pretty.
Leticia needed to endure similar abuse for years in her neighborhood. As long as she didn't resist, there was no violence. She just went along with what happened. They were all pretty young back then. It's just how it was in the 'hood'. Maybe Sheila would like to visit her old neighborhood sometime…. A lot of those males still lived there, at least the ones that weren't in prison or dead. They all lived 'dead end' lives anyway.
She understood. She nodded and smiled. The female gang member would be disfigured for life. It didn't matter, it would be a short life.
"It's even better." Leticia said. "I really hated the Bitch."
Sheila reached over and squeezed Leticia's leg.
"I'll take care of you." Sheila said.
Leticia leaned over and kissed Sheila.
"You're the best." Leticia said. "I'm pleased you're my new Master."
Cammy and Ally looked at each other but remained silent.
Hanna drove the SUV. Camille was next to her in the front. Camille tried to put John in the front seat spot. Mary and Laura wanted him to sit between them in the back.
John was thrilled to be between Mary and Laura. He'd been with both of them in the Master Suite and the Executive Suite on the large executive transport jet. He tried to decide which one he'd liked better. As far as physical attributes went, they were both pretty. Laura was a little larger up top in every aspect and Mary was smaller. As far as down below, it was the same way. Mary was smaller in every respect. The last part was sweet. She was snug. He was sure only Gail's sheath was snugger when Cameron 'borrowed' Gail's chassis.
Mary was thrilled with the flight and what happened on the flight. She was excited to be back in the Bay Area again. She wasn't really sure what all was going to happen. She looked around as Hanna drove.
"Where are we going?" Mary asked.
Hanna didn't want John exposed to the violence Sheila was going to unleash.
"We can go for an evening drive." Hanna said.
John watched Sheila drive away with her group. He thought it was somewhat odd they weren't going to remain together, even if they were in two separate vehicles.
"Where's Sheila going?" John asked.
Camille was given all the files by Sheila earlier. They'd done a quick 'plug in' with each other. She didn't want to get into the details with John. She wasn't sure if Mary and Laura wanted them either. She decided to keep it simple.
"She has some unfinished business." Camille said.
Mary and Laura looked at each other around the rear of John's head. They knew what the business was. They'd almost been jumped by a street gang which roamed the park.
Laura was up to some additional adventure.
"Maybe we could tag along and watch from a distance." Laura said.
Mary wanted the same thing. She was still very uncomfortable about what almost happened. They would have torn her up for sure. She was much more pleased with the reintroduction to males 'Tony' provided her with. She thought maybe it was better not to push their luck.
"I like the idea, but I want to stay safe." Mary said.
John knew only a little of what actually happened.
"I'm not sure I understand." John said.
Camille and Hanna didn't think John wanted to know the details. They certainly didn't want to be the ones to tell him.
"Let's get to San Francisco first." Hanna said. "It's still a short drive."
John could see Hanna and Camille tried to get him off the subject. He wanted to know more but he didn't want to make too big of a deal about it, especially with Mary and Laura there. It looked like they knew more than he did already.
"I'd like to know." John said. "I'm kept in the dark about some things I should probably know sometimes."
Camille didn't like where the conversation was headed.
"Some things are outside the scope of our normal operations and are of a personal nature." Camille said. "I think some of them are best left as such."
Laura was unsure which one of the twins was with them. It was hard to tell them apart since they were completely identical. It made her feel a little embarrassed to ask. She thought it was best to know so she didn't call someone by the wrong name at a critical time.
"I hate to ask, but are you Cammy or Camille?" Laura asked. "I lost track when we got into the SUV. I still can't tell you two apart. Everything on both of you is identical. I've been with twins before and there were minor differences. You two don't have any."
John noticed for the first time the Metal girls used their real names. He was still going by 'Tony'.
Camille smiled.
"It's because we are identical." Camille said.
Laura and Mary both remembered the robot, or cyborg, article they'd come across. The one which 'disappeared' as it was being read.
Mary wondered about Ally. She wasn't really sure how to phrase her question since it seemed somewhat absurd the more she thought about it. It was still something she wanted to know.
"Your other sister is different." Mary said. "She's identical too, but she looks slightly different in her appearance."
Camille knew it was because of the 'Neural Interface' with Allison.
"She's lived a little different life than we have." Camille said. "It was very abusive. Beauty was a liability there."
Hanna felt the need to defend Ally some. It's what Vanna would do for Allison.
"I was with Ally a lot." Hanna said. "We experienced a rough life for a few years. Other things were more important than appearance."
Mary and Laura wondered what it all boiled down to.
"Are you triplets?" Mary asked.
John didn't like where the conversation was headed. He didn't know the danger Mary, Laura and Leticia faced earlier with the Metal girls. Now it was his turn to redirect the conversation. He thought it was best to be direct about it.
"Let's not get into it." John said.
Mary and Laura knew right away to back off. At least while 'Tony' was around.
John was pleasantly surprised when Mary and Laura each took one of his hands and held it.
Steve and Tom followed behind John's SUV.
Sheila pulled over and parked. She looked at Leticia.
"Let's get in the back, love." Sheila said.
Leticia thought Sheila wanted to be 'serviced'.
"Yes, Mistress." Leticia said.
Sheila cringed a little at the title. It wasn't a title she wanted, even if it was.
The four girls switched positions. Cammy took the wheel. She possessed all Sheila's files related to the event. She was there as 'Cameron' or 'Barbara' as the case originally was.
"Look, love." Sheila said. "I appreciate your devotion, but I want you to answer only to yourself. I want to make it clear no one 'owns' you. Not even me."
Leticia looked a little scared.
"It's how I live." Leticia said. "I like being a submissive. I can't wait to be with Tony for you. I hope you'll watch us, even if you don't participate."
Sheila really wanted a 'play thing' like Leticia. It was a different story once she'd actually obtained one. She also wanted her to be stronger and self reliant. She wanted to make her position clear. She felt it was important.
"As your friend and lover, I want you to make some changes." Sheila said. "I want you to have a better life. I want you to have a life."
Cammy and Ally glanced at each other and wondered what was 'wrong' with Sheila. They knew she wanted Leticia as a 'play thing'. It was very unlike her to 'care' about someone else like this.
Leticia didn't want to argue with Sheila. She wanted to please her.
"I'll try." Leticia said.
Cammy received word from Dan and Frank. They'd just acquired the first gang member. Since she was driving now, she headed in the direction.
Sheila received the same information. She looked over at Leticia.
"It looks like we just found our first target." Sheila said.
Leticia knew Sheila carried weapons on her.
"How will you punish them?" Leticia asked.
Since the gang members threatened to abuse the girls in the park, she could think of a few things to do for 'punishment' before termination.
"I have a few ideas." Sheila said. "It's nothing I haven't done before."
Leticia was highly aroused now. She really wished 'Tony' would have ridden with them…. She pictured herself with her knees on each side of Tony's legs while he sat in the seat as they drove. She would be on his lap as she faced him. They could kiss and he could fondle her as she pleasured him with a slow rhythmic motion of her body….
John wanted to follow Sheila's team. Both Camille and Hanna thought it was a bad idea. They both knew John didn't approve of Sheila's 'methods'. More than likely, they were going to be even more extreme based on the situation. It was more than just throwing out the trash to Sheila at this point. It was personal because of the prior interaction.
"I think we can have a little better entertainment riding the cable cars or the historic trolleys on the Embarcadero." Hanna said. "As long as we're here, you should be able to enjoy a little fun. I'm sure Mary and Laura would like it much better."
Camille actually would like to do those things. She hadn't been able to do them earlier when everyone else did. They'd needed to hurry from the airport to the ship when Young Jesse and her arrived from Australia to catch the ship.
"I haven't done any of those things yet." Camille said. "It sounds like fun. I'd like to do them."
John looked at Mary and Laura. He thought their guests should get to choose what they did or didn't do. He certainly hoped they didn't choose to do what Sheila was going to do.
"What about you two?" John asked.
Mary and Laura wanted to see the gang members punished.
"I think you and Camille can do those fun things together." Mary said. "She didn't get to do them before. We already did."
John thought it sounded a little vague. It sounded like they wanted Camille in him to be away from them. Maybe they did want to be involved with whatever Sheila was going to do. He wanted to know a little more.
"What would you do instead?" John asked.
Laura caught Mary's drift. It seems like a good idea to keep 'Tony' in the dark. He evidently didn't know all the details.
"We wanted to do a few girl things with Hanna." Laura said.
Camille looked back at John. She saw an opportunity to further her own agenda. It looked like she could actually take care of a few things at the same time. She wanted to separate John from the girls. She also wanted to ride the cable car and see some of the sights. Everyone told her San Francisco was a nice place to visit. She also heard a few stories about some of the problems there. She would like to view everything for herself and make her own decision afterwards.
"Tony and I can have some fun together." Camille said. "You girls can hang out with Hanna."
Camille looked exactly like Cameron to John.
John was a little worried about everyone being protected. He wasn't sure how many Terminators were in the area.
"Do we have enough people to help out?" John asked.
Hanna contacted Ally. She would join Mary, Laura and her. Steve and Tom would stay with Camille and John in their SUV.
Hanna pulled over.
Camille opened her door and got out.
Mary and Laura each gave John a sweet kiss. The look of love was in their eyes.
Camille and John went to the SUV Steve drove. He'd pulled up right behind them.
Hanna drove away with Mary and Laura.
Camille stopped John and looked at him. She wanted to give him a choice. She wanted to see exactly what he wanted.
"Would you like me to revert to my 'Cameron' programming?" Camille asked. "I would be 'Cameron' on the day of my activation if I did. I'd be 'Cameron', just out of date."
John wasn't sure what it meant exactly. Was she offering him something 'more' as 'Cameron'? He'd kind of like her to be who she was now as Camille. He wasn't sure exactly what she was after.
"Let me think about it…." John said.
They greeted Steve and Tom and sat in the back of the SUV. Steve pulled out into traffic and headed for the Embarcadero.
Camille looked at John. She would have hoped he would have given a more definitive answer. She'd give him a little while to think about it and then ask again. Right now she wanted to look around and see some of the sights. She already possessed all of the files from the other Metal girls. She wanted to make her own. There were a few things she wanted to do on her own. She planned to pursue her personal agenda anyway. She didn't see anything wrong with collecting what she was promised.

Temporal Mission:
Past Timeline:
November 25 1963
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
It was time for Young Allison and Cameron to head home. They would take a different route.
"I think we can go down the rocks here into Chatsworth Park." Cameron said.
Young Allison took a moment to look up at LA88. She could see the spot halfway up on the hill where the launch area was. She looked a little further up to the top of the hill at the giant radar dome at the flight control center.
"How many soldiers are involved with the Nike Base?" Young Allison asked.
Cameron was aware the compliment could vary.
"There would be just over a hundred associated with LA88." Cameron said. "There are guard dogs as well at the missile launch site".
Young Allison didn't think it would be a good idea to snoop around there too much.
"If we go hiking around there, I don't want to ruffle any feathers." Young Allison said.
Cameron tilted her head slightly.
"I don't think it would hurt to take a closer look at the administrative area or the flight control center." Cameron said. "It's the Nike Hercules missiles they want to protect."
The girls started down a steep descent over the rocky terrain. In just a few minutes they were down to sloped land. It was relatively flat.
Young Allison looked at the giant oak trees located in the park and the surrounding area.
"The trees are very big." Young Allison said. "I can't say they're any bigger when I saw them later on, but I can say there are certainly more of them in the park and in the surrounding area."
Cameron felt time had a way of thinning the herd.
"Some of them have succumbed to fire in the interim." Cameron said.
They continued eastbound on Chatsworth Street. It was a very narrow road with dirt along the side of the road with fields on both sides of the roads. There were a few scattered buildings. All of them had a barn associated with them.
Cameron was a little concerned about the traffic as they neared Topanga Canyon Boulevard. There wasn't a signal located there in 1963. It was past the morning rush hour. Hopefully the traffic wouldn't be as heavy as it was earlier.
"It looks like there's a clearing coming up." Cameron said.
Young Allison watched the traffic go by. She saw a lot of older vehicles.
"I don't want to get hit by a car." Allison said. "I know you've been hit several times."
Cameron could have done without the reminder. One time her face ended up through the front windshield of a vehicle when she was in pursuit of a hostile Terminator. It happened another time when she thought she was Future Allison when she was in New Mexico.
"I can assure you, you don't to be hit by a car." Cameron said. "It turns into a bad hair day, just to get the glass out of your hair. It's the hardest thing to get right, hair I mean."
They quickly crossed the street. Pedestrians were supposed to have the right of way at an intersection. It seemed to be a rule which no one adhered to. It didn't matter if it was in the future or in the past.
They continued along Chatsworth Street. It was a very narrow thoroughfare. There were horse ranches on both sides of the street. There was some agricultural land as well. After about seven minutes they reached the railroad tracks.
They could see the block signal to the north before the curve into Tunnel 28. It was yellow. They could see the block signal to the south right before Devonshire Street, and the one south of Lassen Street. Both of those signals were currently dark.
Cameron looked south down the tracks towards Devonshire Street.
"If you want, we can walk down to the Munch Box and you can get a root beer float in a frosty mug." Cameron said.
It actually sounded rather enticing to Young Allison right now. It would also add another mile to their transit before they reached the safe house.
"We can drive there later." Young Allison said.
They continued down Chatsworth Street. They soon made the turn and went north on their street. There were only a couple of houses on the street. All of them had a large yard. Most of them had horses and other domestic animals.
They entered their property from the front and briefly looked around the area. Nothing look disturbed.
Young Allison went to the refrigerator and took out some water.
Cameron turned the television on. She went through the three network channels. They all seem to have a similar broadcast. The local stations covered it as well.
Young Allison returned from the kitchen with a glass of water.
"What's on TV?" Young Alison asked. "Is there anything good?"
Cameron thought about turning the television off. It was too late. Young Allison already saw the screen.
Young Allison took a moment to reflect upon what she viewed. It was the funeral for the President. It was the day he was laid to rest.
"I guess I should watch this for the historical significance." Young Allison said. "I don't really know if I want to though."
She'd actually watched everything before they left about the assassination. It was why she didn't hesitate to complete the mission once they'd interfered with it.
Cameron could understand. She didn't want Young Allison to worry about her earlier actions. She did what needed to be done, when it needed to be done.
"The police officer killed by the Patsy, as well as the Patsy, were both buried today as well." Cameron said. "They didn't receive much attention, especially the Patsy."
Young Allison watched the TV for a short time. She finished her water and put the glass back. She went to her room instead. She spent some time and looked through some of the records in her room. She picked up a 45 RPM single and looked at it. It was 'Surfin' U.S.A.', by 'The Beach Boys'. She flipped it over and looked at the B side. It was 'Shut Down'. She turned on the record player and set the record on the spindle and started the machine. The turntable started spinning, the record dropped down and the arm with the needle moved over and touched the record.
Cameron looked at the television one more time and turned it off. She took some items out of the cabinet and laid them on the kitchen table after she'd covered it. She was sure they would use them soon. She went to see what Young Allison was doing. She could understand her discord about what was on TV. As she approached her room she heard music begin to play.
She paused out in the hallway and listened. She heard 'Surfin' U.S.A.' start to play.
She was aware Cammy and Sheila went surfing with the girls from the ship before. Well, it was actually Leticia who went surfing with them. Mary and Laura used boogie boards. It was the day Cammy engaged a shark in combat. Sheila borrowed a boogie board and hurried out to where Cammy disappeared under the waves. She sent Leticia back on Cammy's surfboard. As soon as she got to the spot with all the blood in the water, she went in as well.
Needless to say, Cammy and Sheila tore the shark apart, literally. Cammy's initial blow on the shark's back, as it tried to reposition itself to attack Leticia after it took a bite out of her surfboard, nearly cut the shark in half. The shark attempted to turn in her direction when she delivered a 'Terminator blow' to the side of its head and crushed the cartilage of its skull. It caused the shark's eye to pop out of the socket. She let her weight carry the shark to the bottom and was joined by Sheila seconds later. They won. The shark lost.
Cameron knew she would need to go out into the water with Young Allison if she attempted to try to surf on her own. She knew she needed to be tethered to her board as Sheila and Cammy were. They never fell off their boards, so it really didn't matter if they were tethered or not.
She heard Young Allison restart the record player. The other side of the record began to play. It was 'Shut Down'. She could hear the song was about a Stingray with a fuel injected engine and a Dart with a 413 with dual quads. She knew both were formidable engines. She was sure in an actual quarter mile race, the 413 big block would probably have the edge. She knew it all depended upon the driver as well.
Young Allison hoped the songs would cheer her up a little. She didn't want to think about what she'd seen on television. It was over. It was done. She was just a piece of the puzzle in history. No one would ever know the part she'd played. Cameron told her they would never tell anyone about what actually occurred. She didn't think Savannah would approve of her actions, even if it's what history already dictated. She knew she had the ability to 'order' Cameron to erase and delete her files. If she did so, nobody would know what happened on the fateful day except her. She would have to think about what she would do going forward.
The 'surf' and the 'race' songs got her blood going. She was ready for a cruise around town. She looked over towards the door. She knew Cameron was out there.
"Let's go for a drive." Young Allison said.
Cameron entered the room.
"Where do you want to go?" Cameron asked.
Young Allison didn't have a set destination.
"Let's see what's available." Young Allison said.
Cameron was ready to go.
"Let's hit the road." Cameron said.
Young Allison stopped her.
"Not so fast." Young Allison said. "We need to clean our firearms."
Cameron was pleased to hear it. She wanted to see what Young Allison would want to do.
"You made a good choice." Cameron said.
Young Allison looked at the record player.
"I think I can put at least five records on this thing." Young Allison said. "Maybe it will hold up to ten."
Cameron thought it would be more efficient for Young Allison to put on an LP record.
"You can put an album on if you want." Cameron said.
Young Allison liked to hear the hits. She didn't really care for most of the filler songs on an LP.
"I want some variety." Young Allison said. "Variety is the spice of life."
Cameron wasn't sure where to go with her statement. It could have a multitude of different interpretations. Maybe it was supposed to be. She knew it was something Savannah told her on multiple occasions.
Young Allison looked through the stack of 45 RPM records. She was surprised how many of them had different recording labels. She was satisfied with ten records. She liked the B side on a couple of them. They would have to wait until another time.
Cameron wasn't sure how Young Allison made her selection. She seemed to randomly choose records from the stack. A couple of times she changed the record from the stack she was going to play.
Young Allison got everything in order and started the record player. She watched the first record drop down. The arm with a needle moved over and started playing. She was satisfied the other records weren't going to fall on top of it. She didn't want to damage any of them. They all appeared to be new.
Cameron hadn't been able to tell what the records were going to be. She was a little surprised at the first one. It wasn't what she thought it would be.
'Runaround Sue', by 'Dion', started to play.
Young Allison took her Hi-Power with her and headed out. She was a little surprised to see all the cleaning supplies were laid out on top of a piece of plastic on the kitchen table. It appeared Cameron knew all along she would clean her weapons before they left to go out.
Cameron wondered why Young Allison specifically chose this song first. She wondered if it was to send a message. She needed to know more.
"Why did you pick this one?" Cameron asked.
Young Allison shrugged her shoulders.
"I liked the way it sounded." Young Allison said.
Cameron tilted her head slightly. She wasn't sure if Young Allison meant she liked the way the title sounded, or she liked the way the song sounded.
"Oh." Cameron said. "I like the way it sounds as well."
From what Cameron observed during her time in high school, every girl with the name 'Sue' seemed to fit the description of the girl in the song. She wondered if it had something to do with the name, or if it was just coincidence. She searched a little further and her data and found out the artist's wife's name was Susan. It made her wonder if there was a correlation.
Young Allison took out her Hi-Power and removed the magazine. She worked the action and locked the slide open. It ejected the round in the chamber. It landed on the table. She stopped it with her hand from rolling off. She proceeded to pull the side back a little further and engage the safety into the take down notch. She lifted it up on the side stop slightly and pushed it out from the right hand side. She released the safety and pulled the slide assembly off. She turned it upside down and removed the guide rod and recoil spring. She pulled the barrel out of the slide.
"It's not even very dirty." Young Allison said. "I like to have everything in top shape anyway."
Cameron was pleased. She liked to have all of her weapons in top shape as well, including herself.
Evening Drive
Is it possible to stand alone
Or must one exist in a hive
Is anything one may hear
Anything more than jive
Things should be worked out together
Not for one alone to connive
No one reaches the destination
Before they actually arrive
For many it's hard enough
Just to exist and survive
To be able to do so
One must first stay alive
When things fall into stride
It's much easier to expand and thrive
To be the best version of oneself
Is something for everyone to strive
Go on and get back out there
It's time for everything to revive
Sit back and relax a little
When it's time for an evening drive
Nobody
