Legion's Future Season 01 Episode 03
We see the currently stationed Legionaires watching the large viewing screen in the Watchtower as a person was was asking for help and something grabbed them slamming their fist into the console breaking their connection to the Legion. and causing the whole screen to go dark as a result cutting the feed.
"That's the last transmission we recieved from the Rendova Military testing facility." Malware 7 stated to the group about what's happening right now.
"This attack may have something to do with Zoidac and Astral, I say we go and help." Amalgam stated to them which surprised the others and all but Lucy stared at him. "What, I learned from last time."
"I agree, a security detail was sent in to find out what was going on but haven't reported back yet." Timber Wolf stated about agreeing to go and check things out too.
"What about the defense systems of the base?" Lucy questioned wanting to know more about the issue at hand.
"Overhead scans show that four missile silos have been opened up." Timber Wolf stated showing them the scans of the place. "If the missiles they're packing get lauched then possibly millions could die."
"If we don't secure those missiles then the United Planets defence force will be sactioned to blast the Research facility out of existence." Phantom Girl stated about stopping it sooner rather than later.
They'd taken a finally rebuilt Legion Cruiser and were flying over the base currently with Timber Wolf in the captain's chair stating "Prepare for a recon sweep over the base."
"Scanners set on maximum." Triplicate girl stated to them while activating the program on the Legion Cruiser in order to fully assess what's happening.
"The information we were sent claims that the automated defenses should be shut down, however there may still be some malfuctioning so we should remain on high alert." Mal stated to them as they were flying by and the defenses began to react.
"Luckily the cruisers new defenses should make that much easier for us to deal with." Bouncing Boy stated and activated the defenses as the laser shots and missiles were bouncing off of a shield or exploding after impacting it without the Cruiser taking damage.
"Bouncy, find us a patch to land, Triplicate Girl, man the weapons. I want you to take out anything that gets too close." The Legion's current acting leader stated to the the other Legionaires. "Lightning Lad, Amalgam, get out there and handle the ground defenses. Everyone else, brace for landing."
"You got it." Lightning Lad called out as he and Amalgam dropped out of their cruiser and began to blast at the defences tearing them apart as they do so.
The two of them managed to take out the rest of the ground defenses that were around where the cruiser was landing and cleared a pathway for them to land. Once they'd done so the group got out and began to head off towards the base that had contacted them for their help finiding it with relative ease.
"Mal, I want a full scan of this place see if there's any traces of what might have happened. Phantom Girl, see if you can find an active termenal and use any of the codes we were given to shut down the silos." Timber Wolf stated as the two got to work doing that while others were checking out the rest of the area.
"There's no lifeform readings anywhere." Mal answered back scanning the area as he'd looked around to see what he could find.
"It seems the codes are working, we only need a few more moments and those missiles will go back to sleep." Phantom Girl stated as she was working on the console she'd found. "Wait.., I think something's wrong with the terminal." She'd then statated as something had started to go wrong and it blasted her backwards with electricity.
"Phantom Girl, you alright?" Timber Wolf spoke as she'd nodded sitting up with a groan. "What happened just now?"
"I'm not sure, it's like the keys were moving on their own all of a sudden." She'd answered back about what happened as Mal shut down the system to keep it from continuing to blast at people.
"It's possible some sort of defensive circuit was triggered just now." Mal answered back making a suggestion of what could have happened.
Meanwhile Bouncing Boy was with Triplicate Girl and they'd found something interesting that shouldn't be the way that it was. "This road shouldn't be that overgrown should it?" The former of the two questioned.
"These tracks are too fresh for that." Triplicate Girl answered back interested in what the two of them had just discovered. "We should report back."
Bouncing Boy nodded in agreement and began to contact the others about what they'd found and the group had come back together to split off into three groups to find out just what the heck was going on. Bouncing Boy, Triplicate girl, and Lucy had gone together, with the second team being made up of Amalgam, Saturn Girl, and Lightning Lad. The final team was Phantom Girl with Timber Wolf and Malware 7 and they were all exploring different parts of the island's jungle.
"Man I wish Albedo was here, he knew how to make creepy places like this fun." Bouncing Boy stated with a sigh.
"Ya, he had a way of making it seem like nothing was scary. Even universal digitization." Triplicate Girl agreed with them sighning.
"I bet he'd love to take advantage of being in the jungle in some way and scare the crap out of us." Bouncy stated turning back and seeing that their companion had vanished. "Hold up, where's Lucy?"
The two had looked around before turning back to the direction they were going seeing a large snake that hissed and snapped at them making the two jump back. They were about to attack when the snake began to laugh and let out a snort as it shifted into the form of their blonde companion again. "Psyche." she'd laughed at the two of them with a slight snort.
"Well, now we know where Albedo got his sense of humor." Triplicate Girl spoke calming down as she'd gotten up and helped up Bouncy.
"Nah, he got it from hanging out with Ben too long. Those two are the very definition of the phrase I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me." Lucy stated about why Ben and Albedo could be so smug about not taking things seriously.
"After everything Albedo's done, I believe it." The larger guy stated as he'd been helped up by Triplicate girl.
Back with Timber Wolf's group the three were walking through the jungle to check out what's going on. "Mal, any ideas?" The acting leader had questioned.
"It's only a theory, but something is clearly wrong here. Perhaps whatever is happening involves some sort of nanomachines of sorts." The Techno Organic hero stated as the three of them were continuing forwards.
"It's as good a theory as any right now." Timber Wolf stated back as they'd met back up with the others. "Anything to update?" He'd then questioned as the others shook their heads no.
That was when tendrils shot up out of the ground and grabbed Bouncing Boy and Triplicate girl dragging them underground as underground. Lightning Lad blasted where they'd been and we see that the two were trying to use their powers to slow down the thing dragging them along wich was some sort of machine with tendrils. This machine was dragging them down a crude tunnel of sorts still trying to drag them away.
They'd jumped down going after the thing and we see strange robotic creatures of sorts trying to defend the thing taken their friends. "Thise machines appear to be techno organic in nature. Possibly some sort of evolutionary phenomenon." Mal stated to them as he'd scanned what these things were.
"Right, then we take them down, but not out. We may be able to reason with them somehow." The Legion's acting leader called out telling them to stop them but not destroy them.
Lightning Lad blasted a hanging Stalactite that crashed down into the one that was trying to take Bouncing Boy and Triplicate Girl, which had freed them in the process. The others had managed to scare away the rest of the drones that were around and they began to invesigate just what made the thing tick checking out their circutry that was glittering strangely letting out an odd light.
"It appears to be some sort of Bio-electronic virus of sorts." Mal stated to the group checking out how it was reacting. "It seems to be mutating without pause, that means it may be near impossible to formulate a cure of sorts."
The thing reacted to Mal and tried to zap them but he'd dropped it with Saturn Girl asking "You alright Mal?" worried about her friend.
"I'm okay. I think the Virus was trying to infect me but I was able to catch it in time and reject it's influence. I've never seen a virus act this aggressively before." He'd answered back telling them that he was okay and avoided the attack to his system. "Something just set off the alarm system we set back in the control center, we can't allow the missiles or this virus to spread."
"Right, we all need to get off this island. before the United Planets blows it out of existence." Timber Wolf stated to them as Amalgam had bashed open a hole for them to get out through and everyone had flown out.
They'd gone back to the command base and discovered that Astral had taken some of this strange circutry and was trying to escape with it. They were going to engage when more of the strange new droids had appeared one of which had a tree trunk as an arm and part of their body with a mossy cape.
"Okay now that's just wrong." Amalgam stated as he blasted the one with the tree arm with his laser eyes causing their arm to catch fire and start to burn up and heating up the circutry of them at the same time.
"So, you've discovered out little secret. What a shame, soon every machine will come to life and rebel against all those organic fools." Astral stated to them as he'd flown into a ship.
"Not if we bury the virus here." Lightning Lad stated flying over towards them "And you along with it!" He'd then blasted them with electricity and Astral released defensive attacks on them trying to escape in his ship.
However as they were attempting to get away something blasted at it with Bouncing Boy having already gotten the Legion Cruiser and blown Astral's ship out of the sky causing them to crash down onto the facility and the others began looking for them but found nothing. The group then left as three large missiles had shot past the cruiser and struck the island research facility destroying it and causing most of the island to sink beneath the waves.
"I don't think that's the last we've seen of Astral, and if he managed to take a sample of the virus." Amalgam sighed watching from the window as the island had been swallowed by the large body of water.
