I've been haunted by the lines 'What's the wi-fi password?' 'There is no wi-fi' for years when I finally got around to breaking free of writer's block to work out a story around it. And well, sure is convenient that TMS got added to Heroes. :P

All of my tiny bit of knowledge of Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE came from the Fire Emblem wiki and I'm currently in the middle of Book 6 of Heroes so take whatever I utilized on Itsuki's background with a grain of salt. But if it makes you feel better, I accidentally learned of a Book 7 spoiler trying to look up the spelling of Breidablik lol

An Important Question To Ask When You Find Yourself In Another World

By Bilbo-sama

The sudden brightness cleared away from Itsuki's vision and he could finally see again. He felt Chrom bristling warily as the Mirage looked around through Itsuki's eyes.

Instead of the familiar cityscape of Tokyo, Itsuki found himself surrounded by a ring of pillars with intricate designs chiseled into them. An orb within one stone behind him slowly dimmed as if it was drained.

"Greetings," said a voice and Itsuki whirled around to see a hooded figure in a white robe with the same symbols from the pillars in golden thread slowly approaching him. A red haired woman in a white and gold uniform stood nearby balancing a large axe on her shoulder.

"Um," Itsuki managed in his bewilderment. The woman and the hooded figure wait patiently for him to regain his bearings.

"Ah, my name's Itsuki Aoi!" Itsuki blurted out nervously. "I'm, uh, not sure how I can help you but I'll give it my best shot!"

"You have been summoned to the kingdom of Askr, Itsuki Aoi," the hooded figure replied in a tone that says they have done this many times before, "to help protect it by joining the Order of Heroes."

Oh.

It's actually happening. It's not just a thing in anime (then again, his life lately has been a bit anime - no offense Chrom).

He has legitimately got sent to another world (because apparently becoming a Mirage Master to fight monsters wasn't enough). He's in an Isekai.

"Wow," said Itsuki and he internally cringed. He became an Isekai protagonist and that's all he can say about it?

"I am Kiran, summoner of Askr. This is Anna, commander of the Order," Commander Anna waved with her axe free hand, "Prince Alfonse and Princess Shareena are waiting outside of the Eternal Sanctum as guards."

"Is that safe?" asked Itsuki, "What if I was someone dangerous?" Hypothetically. He did not want to wipe out the royal family he was now tied to.

"Don't worry about it!" said Commander Anna cheerfully, "Breidablik - " Kiran helpfully holds up what appears to be a gun shaped object, " - wont allow any harm come to us. Well, probably mainly him."

"Convenient," Chrom said as he at last emerged which surprised Itsuki because he couldn't detect any background Performa in the Eternal Sanctum, "does it just apply to my Mirage Master?"

"Both of you," replied Kiran in his toneless voice that somehow conveyed that he was unconcerned with this turn of events. "I have summoned people accompanied by spirits before."

"Yeah they somehow count as one person," shrugged Anna, "We've learned not question Breidablik's...quirks with summoning."

They were interrupted by the sound of armored footsteps from the entrance to the interior workings of the Eternal Sanctum. Itsuki watched as a blonde haired girl peeked into the room.

"Get anyone yet?" she called out.

"Sharena!" shouted a male voice in the distance.

Oh. This is the Princess of Askr isn't it? How do you greet royalty?

"Hello," attempted Itsuki.

"Greetings, Your Highness," said Chrom in a surprisingly formal way, "its an honor to be in your service."

"What he said," added Itsuki.

"Nailed it," someone said quietly with amusement and it took a moment for Itsuki to realize it was Kiran of all people.

"How many times?" lectured a young blue haired man "as he rushed over to the Princess, "How many times must I say to not go in unless Kiran and Anna say its safe to do so?"

"That's alright, my dudes," called Kiran, causing Itsuki to double take as the man dropped the Mysterious Cloaked Figure vibes and forgoing all sense of formality while still hooded, "we got what we came for. Check it out! A duo!"

"Splendid!" said the young man, "Welcome to Askr! I am Prince Alfonse and this is my sister, Princess Sharena. Do you still have any questions?"

Before Itsuki could answer, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and noted that one of the game apps left a notification. Oh. That one.

"Um, what's the wi-fi password?" he asked half-heartedly as he held it up, pretending to not notice the princess leaning forward to see the phone better. It was useful as an expensive brick in this world and will become that within a day. But still, this place could still surprise him.

"There is no wi-fi," replied Kiran in an ominous yet mournful tone, briefly returning to Mysterious Cloaked Figure mode to do so. "As far as I can tell, the furthest this world has gone with technology is steam powered machinery but only in Niưavellir."

"Huh," blinked Itsuki, "neat."

"Unfortunately Niưavellir currently wishes to conquer us with the power of steam punk," added Kiran.

"That...doesn't sound so bad?" tried Itsuki.

"I suppose," shrugged Kiran, "but I suppose it could be worse."

I had planned for this to somehow segue into Itsuki and Kiran talking about their world's differences with a JoJo joke (Kiran knows it as 'we' do but in Itsuki's world its called 'Dio's Baffling Odyssey') even though I have never seen that show in my life but it refused to manifest and so I ended the fic there.

I guess this is set before Eitri captures Kiran because boy he just jinxed himself didn't he?
