Morning came and the harsh rays of the sun had woken up Sakura.
She came back to her own apartment the day that Kakashi signed the annulment paper, as if nothing happened between them. As if he never cared.
Sakura's hand cupped her mouth as she felt bile rise up her throat. She ran towards the bathroom and heaved the contents of her stomach.
She didn't drink the night before. But he heard Kakashi was drinking at the bar, so she tried to stalk him. But something told her to stop and let the man alone, so she went to sit with her friends, where Sai was dared to kiss her. She didn't want to but thought that it would take her mind off of her failed first marriage. Probably her only one.
Her hand gripped her stomach as she finished spilling out her dinner.
"I thought we had this conversation already, bud." Sakura murmured to her stomach. "I thought we agreed that you won't make it hard for me? I'm a single parent as it is, don't make it hard for me please."
But the life in her stomach answered her with another bile rising up in her throat. Sakura took a few deep breaths to calm herself, as the nausea subsided, she wiped her mouth with a tissue. Her thoughts were a chaotic mix of emotions and uncertainty. The events of the past few months had taken a heavy toll on her, from her unexpected marriage to Kakashi, the threats from the Daimyo, the finalization of her annulment, and now the life growing inside her.
Sakura's head was spinning with a whirlwind of emotions, from heartache to confusion, and now the overwhelming realization that she will raise her kid alone. She knew that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't fully grasp, and it left her feeling both vulnerable and scared.
"Will you forgive me if I ever decide to terminate you?" Sakura asked. But she knows that even if the child can't answer her, it will never forgive her. She felt her eyes stinging with the unshed tears. "What am I going to do now?" she asked herself.
Sakura stood up, wiping her tears away. She can't decide now. And even so, she knew that she will cannot kill the child. Its the only good thing at the ordeal. Its the only thing that assures her that even for a moment, even a flitting moment, Kakashi did care for her.
Sakura's musing were interrupted by the hurried knock on her front door. She took her time answering it, but just crossing the distance between her front door and her bathroom seemed to annoy her unexpected guest. More knocks sounded on her door.
"What is - " Sakura's question died in her throat as she stared at the disheveled Kakashi. She opened her door wider. "Kakashi." Sakura acknowledge the man that hhad been haunting her dreams. "What are you doing here?"
But Kakashi didn't answer her. One look at her red-rimmed eyes and he pulled down his mask to kiss her. He felt her responding to his kiss as he entered her home, using his foot to close the door.
"Sakura," he moaned her name as he kissed her. Kakashi's kiss was passionate and filled with a raw, unspoken longing. It was a kiss that conveyed all the emotions that had been simmering beneath the surface, the pain and confusion, but also the love and desire that had never truly disappeared. The way he held her, their bodies pressed closely together, spoke of his need to feel her warmth and presence once more.
Sakura responded to his kiss, her arms wrapping around him, pulling him even closer. Her tears, once a symbol of her heartbreak, were now mixed with a torrent of emotions - relief, love, and hope. She could feel Kakashi's heartbeat against her chest, a reminder that he was real and here, and that their connection was undeniable.
Their kiss was a desperate attempt to bridge the gap that had grown between them, a silent plea to rediscover what they had lost. It was a promise, unspoken yet understood, that they were willing to fight for their love despite the obstacles that had come their way.
As they finally broke the kiss, their foreheads rested against each other, their breaths heavy. Kakashi gazed into Sakura's eyes, his voice filled with sincerity. "Sakura, I can't pretend anymore. I love you. I love you more than anything, and I want to be with you, no matter the challenges we face." He declared as he holds her face in between his hands. "Sakura, please don't turn your back on me."
Sakura gazed at the mismatched eyes she grown to love. Her hand caressed the side of his cheek. "Kakashi." She cried out his name. "I love you."
Kakashi's heart beat faster as he heard Sakura's words. "Sakura, I love you," Kakashi whispered, his voice filled with sincerity. "I thought I was doing the right thing by signing the annulment papers. But I was wrong. I realized that I can't live without you. I don't want to live without you."
Sakura's eyes were filled with a mixture of surprise, hope, and vulnerability as she looked into Kakashi's eyes. She had never expected to hear these words from him, especially since it was him who signed the papers first. Her heart ached with a longing to believe him, but her fears and doubts still lingered.
"Kakashi," she whispered, her voice trembling, "what about what I saw last night? You were celebrating the finalization of our annulment. It looked like you had moved on."
Kakashi shook his head, his eyes never leaving Sakura's. "What you saw last night was a misunderstanding. I was there with Asuma and Iruka, drowning my sorrows in whiskey, not because I wanted to move on, but because I was drowning in despair after signing the annulment papers. I saw you with another man, and I thought I had lost you forever."
Sakura's heart ached as she understood Kakashi's perspective. The realization that he had been in pain too, that their misunderstanding had brought them both to this point, overwhelmed her. She reached out and cupped his cheek, her thumb brushing against his skin.
"That was Sai." Sakura said. "He was dared to kiss me, and I thought, it would distract my mind from thinking the annulment." she explained. "I love you, Kakashi," she confessed, her voice filled with emotion. "I never wanted this annulment, but I thought it was what you wanted. I just want to give you what you want."
Kakashi closed his eyes and leaned into Sakura's touch, savoring the warmth of her hand against his skin. "Sakura, I was a fool for not talking to you, for not considering your feelings. I thought I was doing the right thing, but I was only hurting both of us. I don't want to lose you."
Sakura looked into Kakashi's eyes and saw sincerity there. She wanted to tell him that she wants him back. But she doesn't know if he is still going to like her in her condition.
Seeing the indecision in Sakura's eyes, Kakashi pulled back slightly. "Sakura, don't you want to be with me again?"
Sakura's heart was torn between her love for Kakashi and her fears about their complicated situation. She knew that Kakashi had signed the annulment papers because he thought it was the right thing to do, but now she understood that he never wanted to lose her.
With a mixture of hope and vulnerability, she took a deep breath and spoke softly. "Kakashi, I love you more than anything, and I want to be with you too. But there's something I need to tell you."
Kakashi's eyes searched hers, filled with concern and anticipation. "What is it, Sakura?"
Tears welled up in her eyes as she began to share her secret. "Kakashi, I'm pregnant. I found out last week. I didn't know how to tell you, and I was afraid of what you might think."
Kakashi's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, he was speechless. The news of Sakura's pregnancy hit him like a wave, and he struggled to process it.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner, Sakura?" Kakashi asked, a hint of anger lacing his voice. "Do you even plan on telling me?"
Sakura, a bit scared of his upcoming anger, steeled herself. "I don't know what to tell you, Kakashi! You decided to sign the paper, I thought you didn't want anything to do with me. How can I tell you that you're going to be a father when I thought you wanted to leave me?" Sakura asked. "I have to think to think of ways on how to survive this alone, Kakashi. I even thought about killing my own child."
Sakura felt Kakashi gripped her arms tightly. She angered him. She can see it in his eyes. Her heart raced as she looked at him, his blood red Sharingan eye looked ominous.
"You what?" Kakashi asked. "You planned on - " Kakashi cannot finish his sentence, his mind is drifting to her earlier words. A sense of protectiveness rose in his chest. "Don't do that!" He shakes her lightly. "Don't do it to my child."
Sakura's tears were flowing freely now as she met Kakashi's intense gaze. His reaction was not what she had expected, and the concern and protectiveness in his eyes took her by surprise.
"You're hurting me." Sakura whimpered. "If you're just going to hurt me, just leave, Kakashi."
Kakashi immediately released his grip on Sakura, his anger replaced by guilt and regret. He had acted without understanding her perspective, and he knew that he had caused her more pain.
"I'm so sorry, Sakura," he whispered, his voice filled with remorse. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I was just scared and overwhelmed by everything. I don't want you to do anything like that. I care about you and our child."
"Kakashi, you have to understand. I - I didn't know how to tell you," Sakura stammered, her voice filled with regret. "I thought you'd be angry, or that you'd want nothing to do with me. We did it once then you were apologizing the next day. Then you just decided to annul our marriage without looking at me. What do you want me to think?" Sakura exclaimed as tears started to stream down her face.
Kakashi reached out to gently wipe away Sakura's tears, his expression soft and filled with tenderness. He understood that he had caused her a great deal of pain and uncertainty with his actions, and he needed to make amends.
"Sakura, I'm so sorry for everything," Kakashi said, his voice sincere. "I was wrong to not communicate with you and to make assumptions about what you wanted. I don't want you to feel alone or afraid. I care about you, and I want to be there for you and our child. I love you, Sakura, and I want to make things right between us."
"And the next time that we need to decide?" Sakura started to ask him. "Are you going to decide for the both of us again? Without asking me?" Her hand was in her stomach, almost as if protecting it. "What if one day you have to decide, me or my baby? Are you going to decide again without asking me?"
Kakashi listened to Sakura's words, and he understood the depth of her pain and fear. He knew that he had made a grave mistake by not consulting her about their marriage and that he needed to be more considerate and understanding in the future.
"Sakura, I promise you," Kakashi said with conviction, "I won't make decisions like that without talking to you and considering your feelings. I've learned my lesson, and I don't want to hurt you again. I want us to make decisions together, as a team, especially when it concerns our child." he vowed. "Take me back, Sakura, please."
Sakura gazed into Kakashi's eyes, her own filled with a mixture of emotions. His words, his sincerity, his promises—they all struck a chord deep within her heart. She could see the genuine regret and desire to make things right in his eyes. Tears continued to flow from her eyes.
Kakashi's visible eye searched Sakura's face, waiting for her response with bated breath. He knew that their path wouldn't be easy, but he was willing to do whatever it took to mend their relationship and be the partner and father she needed.
Sakura took a deep, shuddering breath and nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "Okay, Kakashi, I believe you. I love you, and I want to be with you."
Kakashi's heart soared with joy as he heard Sakura's words. He leaned in to kiss her, a gentle and tender kiss filled with love and relief. Their lips met, sealing their promise to each other, a promise to face the challenges ahead as a united front.
The kiss was a symbol of their reconciliation, a pledge to work through their differences and fears, and an expression of the love that had never truly faded. Kakashi knew that their journey wouldn't be without its hurdles, but he was ready to face them with Sakura by his side.
As they finally broke the kiss, Kakashi held Sakura close, his heart full of gratitude and hope. "Thank you, Sakura. I promise I won't let you down. We'll face everything together, no matter what." He took out his mother's ring from his pocket and carefully slid it on Sakura's finger. "This ring is yours, Sakura. Don't ever give it back to me." He said, willing her to understand the true meaning of his words. He doesn't want to lose her again.
Sakura gazed down at the ring that Kakashi had placed on her finger, her heart swelling with emotion. She understood the significance of his gesture, and it meant more to her than any words he could have spoken. The ring represented their renewed commitment to each other, and it symbolized the love that had brought them back together.
Tears of happiness welled up in Sakura's eyes as she looked into Kakashi's gaze. "I'll never take this ring off, Kakashi. I love you, and I'm ready to face whatever challenges come our way together."
Kakashi's smile was filled with warmth and affection as he held Sakura close. "I love you, Sakura. Our journey together starts now, and I promise to cherish every moment."
