A/N: For the poll, just need 9 more to keep it up but in case it continues and the top 3 are still close together I'll end it when getting to s4 of USM as that's mostly 3-4 part episodes and I like doing those as one Ch and start the new on of the top 21.
Chapter VIII.
Last Time.
"Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-"
Weiss then turned to Ruby who spoke up. "Stop telling me what to do!"
Ruby looks hurt at Weiss' rebuttal. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leaps into the air and rolls into a ball, and launches itself at Weiss. It comes closer and closer, but Weiss activates one of her blue-white circles and blocks the roll, leaping up into the now-black snowflake symbol and turning it blue again so she can drive the blade into the Boarbatusk's stomach.
Port nodded at that and clapped his hands. "Bravo! Bra-vo! It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress-in-training! I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!"
Weiss glares and turns away, walking hurriedly to the exit past her teammates. "Sheesh, what's with her?"
Naruto turned to see Jaune who was walking down the steps. "She needs to learn to take orders now."
The remaining members of Team RWBY look at each other before getting up to leave.
Now.
Beacon Academy.
Weiss, still storming off in the hall turns a corner before Ruby runs up and stops her. "Weiss!"
"What?" Weiss asks as she turns around.
"What's wrong with you? Why are you being-?"
"What's wrong with me?" Weiss interrupted her. "What's wrong with you? You're supposed to be a leader, and all you've been so far is a nuisance!"
Ruby scoffs at that. "What did I do?"
"That's just it! you've done nothing to earn your position! Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so!"
"Weiss, where is this coming from? What happened to all the talk about 'working together'? I thought you believed in acting as a team." Ruby said to the heiress.
"Not a team led by you. I've studied and trained. And quite frankly, I deserve better." Weiss then turns her back to Ruby, who tried to reach out but dropped her hand with the following words. "Ozpin made a mistake." Weiss then walks away as Ruby looks dejected before turning to see Ozpin standing with a cup of hot chocolate in one hand and his cane in the other
"Hmm... Now that didn't seem to go very well."
"Is she right? Did you make a mistake?" Ruby asked Ozpin who closed his eyes for a moment.
"That remains to be seen."
Naruto walked around the corner, hands behind his head before hearing Ozpin explain to Ruby that Ozpin confesses that leaders are rarely perfect. He admits to having made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child on this planet, but also states that he does not believe making Ruby a leader was one of them.
He then tells her that being a leader is a badge that she will wear constantly, and if she does not perform at her best, others will not have a reason to follow her.
Outside.
Meanwhile, Weiss walked into Port and explains her belief that she should be the leader of Team RWBY, but Port disagrees. Port states that he has worked underneath Ozpin for many years and the headmaster has never given him any reason to question his judgment. Port continues explaining to Weiss that she has gotten everything she has ever wanted her whole life, and now that something she wanted has been given to someone else, she is throwing a temper tantrum.
He goes on to tell her that, instead of fretting about what she does not have, she should savor what she does have, by being the best person she can be. Although Weiss insists that Port's statement about getting everything she ever wanted is not entirely true, she considers what Port has told her.
Dorms Night.
Later that night, Weiss returns to Team RWBY's dorm room to find Yang Xiao Long, Blake Belladonna, and Ruby already asleep. Ruby is surrounded by several textbooks and papers, implying that she fell asleep studying. Though Ruby apologizes for her sloppy behavior, Weiss, taking Port's advice to heart goes to get Ruby a fresh cup of coffee and admits that she has always wanted bunk beds. Ruby smiles as Weiss leaves to change into her nightgown.
Next Day, Afternoon.
Naruto in his gym clothes laid on a hill looking through the scope of Fox Bolt with Ruby who was also in her gym clothes with Crescent Rose in its gun form with a scope took shots with other students that uses a sniper rifle did the same to hit metal Grimm targets that are 200 meters away as young men and women sat behind them with spotter scopes on tripods.
Walking the line is a woman with tan skin, long blonde hair pulled in a ponytail in a black baseball cap. She has a black eyepatch over her left eye with her right showing it's blue wearing a green shirt, black pants, and boots. (1.)
"Alright class, I'm Sunny, your long-range instructor. Now, this class will be teaching you how to use your sniper rifle outside of the blade portion." Sunny explained before stepping on an upturned foot of a boy so it was now laying flat. "Don't give your enemy anything that they can see." She said to the student before continuing walking and came across more upturned feet that she pressed down.
"Feel your breath filling every cell in your body." She said as several students took shots. "This is a sniper's ritual. We master our breath, we master our mind. Pulling the trigger will become an unconscious effort. You will be aware of it, but not directing it. And as you exhale, find your natural respiratory pause… And the space between heartbeats." Sunny finished as she got to the end where Naruto and Ruby lay.
"Why do we need to do this?" Ruby asked looking over her shoulder.
"For any regular mission of protecting someone. A sniper's role is to protect from afar, you do reconnaissance and get the threats in the backline for your comrades." Sunny replied before looking to see Naruto hit a Beowulf target on the lower chest. "Aim small, miss small. If you aim for a shirt button you might miss by two inches. You aim for a shirt, you might miss by two feet." Naruto took another shot before she looked at him. "Close those groupings Uzumaki."
"Yes ma'am."
Naruto took another shot and missed before Sunny looked at the spotter who sighed. He has black hair wearing a black shirt and dark green pants with black boots. (2.)
"Are we looking at the same target? You're spitting dust. Got your off-eye shut?"
Sunny looked down and saw Naruto had both of his eyes open before he spoke. "If I close my off-eye, I can't see what's out there."
"There's nothing out there but the target." The spotter said as Naruto pulled the bolt back on his gun.
"Negative, sir. There is something out there."
The spotter stood at that and looked at the blonde. "Show me."
Naruto moved his gun to the left and shot a small bird-sized Nevermore.
In a room of the academy, the rest of Team RWBY, SHNN, and Team JNPR was hitting or cutting dummies for their training with Vajo. "Jaune, a little faster on the downswing," Vajo said to the tee who nodded as he hit a dummy with his sword as Haru followed with his.
Yang, Natsu, and Shiki were hitting/kicking their dummies as Weiss got in her stance and stabbed hers in the chest. Blake was hitting her dummy before jumping back and threw them at the head and slicing it off.
Beacon, Morning.
On a stage, Naruto in his new combat attire looked across from him to see Cardin.
Naruto's new outfit is an armored dark orange jumpsuit that's black on the stomach, with shin guards, armor on his forearms, and top of his hands with black fingerless gloves. (3.)
Naruto picked up Sage and Shisuithat changed into their knife form before dashing at Cardin and swiped at his chest. Cardin blocked with the Executioner before kicking Naruto onto his back. Naruto followed by spinning to get back on his feet, kicking Cardin before landing on his feet and gripping the knife in his right-hand reverse grip. He dashed forward again and clashed with Cardin's weapon with both of his.
Naruto smiled before kicking Cardin in his knee and spun kicked him onto his back before dropping down on his knee and placing Sage at Cardin's throat.
Buzz!
A buzzer rings out, as the lights came on before Naruto heard Glynda. "That's enough!" Naruto pulled his knife away and stood up as Glynda comes onto the stage, tapping her tablet. "Students, as you can see, Mr. Winchester's Aura has now dropped into the red. In a tournament-style duel, this would indicate that Cardin is no longer fit for battle and that the official may call the match."Glynda turns to look at the losing warrior before looking back to the class.
Yang was punching the air in anticipation; Weiss was shaking her fists with an excited smile, and Ruby's whole body was shaking with enthusiastic energy while squealing softly. "Remember, everyone, the Vytal Festival is only a few months away! It won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale!"
Rrrriiiinnnggg!
The bell rings, and students start leaving for lunch.
Later, Naruto and his team were sitting at a table beside Team RWBY's and JNPR as Nora was telling them a story. "So! There we were, in the middle of the night..."
"It was day," Ren said with a sigh from his spot.
Blake was paying no attention as she is lost in her book, and Yang, who was hanging on her every word with her hands cupping her face. "We were surrounded by Ursai..."
Ren then picked a coffee cup up. "They were Beowolves."
Nora then stands at that with her arms raised. "Dozens of them!" Weiss was also ignoring Nora while filing her nails, Ruby and Pyrrha are listening politely, while Jaune is messing with his food.
Ren then closed his eyes before speaking. "Two of 'em."
"But they were no match... And in the end, Ren and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs!"
"She's been having this recurring dream for nearly a month now," Ren said dropping the cup to rub his face.
Naruto then turned to see the members of Team CRDL, standing around Velvet with Cardin laughing at her, and Sky Lark holds up his hands to his head in a mock interpretation of her unusual features.
Naruto walked over and stood in front of Velvet. "Better than your ugly mug that even your mother can't stand."
"What'd you say?" Cardin asked standing as Naruto crossed his arms before Vajo and Sunny appeared.
"Team CRDL, report to Ozpin's office, now," Vajo ordered before pulling the team up as Sunny pointed to the door.
While they left, Cardin looked back at Naruto who smiled giving a mock salute.
