Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! It's been another long year. Hope you are all doing well. I don't know what the next year will hold but life keeps moving.
Kenwyn walked through the halls of Providence with a clipboard.
"Hey Jack, straightened that garland. It's lopsided." She pointed out to the man on the ladder.
The grunt in the mask looked like he was about to argue before leaning over to fix the offending decoration.
Kenwyn nodded in approval as she moved along. Looking on her clipboard, she checked off "hallway decorations."
As she looked through the rest of the list on her clipboard, she frowned. This is the first year that White Knight had allowed the grunts decorate all of Providence. He put her in charge to make sure that everything remained tasteful, unobtrusive, and followapproved guidelines.
Kenwyn got to the cafeteria. When the doors slid open, she gasped. "What on earth happened here?"
Inside the usually immaculate eating area, there was blobs of goo everywhere. Tinsel was scattered randomly all over the room. The Christmas tree was tipped on the floor. The ornaments were on the floor. In the center was Rex and Bobo tangled in the string of lights.
"Hey, Kenwyn" Rex waved sheepishly at her.
"Here to join the party?" Bobo grinned at her.
"What? How? Huh?" She was speechless.
"Oh well, you see, we thought we can do a gingerbread house theme, so I told Bobo to make some icing…"
"Icing?" Kenwyn's voice squeaked out.
"I mean not real icing. You know something that looks like icing. We were going to spray the corners around the gingerbread…" Rex explained.
"Real gingerbread?" She interrupted.
"No, like this hard foam stuff that we painted brown. Come on, Kenwyn, give us some credit." Rex scoffed.
Kenwyn looked around at the mess. "Credit for what? This?"
"Don't get your knickers in a knot, sweetheart. We'll get this all cleaned up." Bobo dismissed her concern. He slipped out of the string of lights and dropped the tangle onto the floor.
Kenwyn glared at the chimp for a second before letting them have it.
"I can't believe you guys can create so much chaos doing something as simple as just putting up some decorations! You had one easy job… to decorate the cafeteria. And you can't even do that right!"
She continued her tirade. Rex and Bobo looked crestfallen by then end.
When she finally got to the end, she couldn't think of any other thing to say. She ended with, "I hope you're happy with ruining Christmas!"
She then stormed out.
"Well, she took that pretty well." Bobo said Rex who just stared at him.

Kenwyn stomped down the hall, but her anger was already abating. As she walked further, she stopped being angry and started feeling guilty. They didn't mean to make a mess. It was just Rex and Bobo. Their hearts were in the right place.
"Hey, Kenwyn, what do you think?",
She looked up startled. She didn't even realize that she was standing in the rec room. It looked fine but very generic looking.
"It's… fine." She said. Sure Rex and Bobo were unpredictable but they were creative.
"Excuse me." She turned around. Walking back to the cafeteria, she looked around. Everything looked nice but there was nothing special.
She arrived at the cafeteria. As the door slid opened, she gasped again. Rex was cleaning up the pile of goo with his Smack Hands. Bobo was putting the tree back up.
"Um, hey, Rex, Bobo. I want to apologize for what I said earlier." She said contritely.
"That's ok, Kenwyn." Rex said cheerfully. "I know you like running a tight ship."
"No, it's not just that." She continued.
"You're an uptight control freak?" Bobo asked.
Both Rex and Kenwyn shot him a look before turning to look at each other.
"Anyway," Kenwyn continued. "I'm sorry. You guys have a unique vision. So just keep doing what you're doing. Just try to keep the mess to a minimum."
"Sure thing, Kenwyn." Rex grinned.
"Great, and try to have the mess cleaned up before lunch." She added.
Rex gave her a thumbs up with his Smack Hands.
She left with a smile. As the door slid behind her, she heard a crash and yelling. She winced but said to herself. "It's Christmas. It's Christmas…" When there was another loud crash, she repeated the mantra louder as she sped away from the cafeteria.
It's been a rough year for me but I had to put something out.
Be well everyone.
