Chapter 1
From Prisoner to Chosen One
In the depths of the Undead Prison with the light barely shining through was a blond man sitting against a wall sighing at his predicament. While some of the people in this land were ghastly or almost just skin and bone. This man in question was a healthy-looking individual with bright blond hair that shines like the sun, blue eyes that were staring at the wall in boredom, and he is wearing an unusual orange and black jumpsuit that was faded and tattered in certain parts.
'Well, Kurama this is quite the predicament we are in.'
"No shit brat, I swear you use to have very good luck with everything."
'Don't I know it, but at least you are still here and that we can still communicate but are you sure about everything else?'
"Yeah, whatever the fuck is with this land is interfering with our chakra."
Naruto Uzumaki, age 20, could only sigh at what his life had become.
Flashback
Riding a boat, Naruto could only watch as the coasts of the Elemental Nations were getting farther and farther away and he could only scoff.
"Sacrificed everything and anything and still get the shaft well fuck them. Let them all fix their own problems."
Naruto turned and saw the captain driving outward and the further away they got the more he started to feel something off.
'What the fuck,'
The ship started shifting around, and he could barely use his chakra to keep himself upright but while he is rushing to the captain to help him steer the ship, he then felt an ominous presence and soon looked up.
A massive being was moving around in the water and he couldn't tell what it was due to the storm that was now forming around them and blocking off his view of the creature in question. But he could easily measure the creature was bigger than any serpent creature he has ever seen but not to the size of the Juubi if he was accurately guessing. The creature moved through the water slowly but soon submerged.
'Kurama can you sense whatever that was!?'
'No, whatever that thing was, I can't fathom it! The thing has a presence I have never sensed before, no it is even greater than the Sage and Kaguya, the power it radiated is off the scale and it feels like it wasn't even trying!'
'Seriously then we are fucked if that thing decides to make a meal-,'
"KIT BEHIND US!"
Naruto quickly shifted his head to the rear of the boat and saw the creature rising out of the water. But the creature itself was covered in darkness or at least scales that made it look like darkness. The being's eyes burned bright orange and radiated power he had never seen before. The creature's gaze was focused on him and he could see it craning its neck down to him and looking very closely at him.
Naruto could feel it in every bone of his body, the monster was beyond the Juubi. No, it was even beyond Kaguya, nothing he has seen up to this point could compare to this monster. It was as if he was in the presence of an all-powerful being that could swallow the world and no one could stop it.
The creature slowly opened its mouth and he could hear it hiss and the smell of its breath made Naruto gag and cough for air. He collapsed on the deck,
"KIT something wrong I can't stop the effect of this creature's breath!"
Naruto could barely keep his eyes open but he saw the captain freak and jump off the ship off the side, but then he heard the faint screams of the man figuring he must have been eaten by something in the water or he was swept up in the waves.

The darkness soon consumed him and Naruto passed out on the back of the ship while Kurama was screaming at him and then soon complete darkness overtook him.
Time Skip
The light shined brightly and Naruto waved his hand over his face and noticed that he was still alive.
'Kurama are you there?'
Silence.
Naruto frowned hoping that nothing bad had happened to his friend from that creature.
"Whatever it was, that thing is not something I want to encounter again any time soon." Sitting up Naruto noticed something was off and after trying something he was shocked, "My chakra, what the fuck just happened!"
"Look I found one!"
Turning his head Naruto saw some armored men walking up to him and before he could say a word he was sent into the darkness with the blunt force of a powerful strike to the face.
Flash back end
This is how Naruto now found himself in a prison cell of sorts. Sitting there waiting for something or someone to come and talk to him. But that was almost three days ago and honestly, he was getting tired and hungry from the lack of attention or care.
'Kurama, what do sense?'
"I'm not sure brat but I know for a fact that those things in the hallway, are not normal. More, they seem to be carrying themselves almost as if there is no hope or purpose to their existence and are only seeking the end."
'So suicidal huh? Well, I might end up like them if I don't find a way out of this shit hole, I mean no food, water, or any care? No one has come to confront me about my appearance and now I'm just waiting for, fucking something!'
"Calm yourself kit no point in getting yourself all worked up. We don't know how to break out of this cage and without our charka we are both sitting here with nothing helping our case. But I guess the good news is that I managed to sense out this unknown substance that is in our body now but I can't use it or manipulate it. Might be something unique to this region in the world."
'Well, how is that possible though I mean do you think that thing that we saw gave it to us.'
'It's possible but I'm not 100% sure so for now we need to play things by ear. I mean someone is going to do something or something is going to happen, and we are going to get out of his prison and find out where the fuck we are."
Naruto rolled his eyes,
"Yeah like a corpse will fall from the sky and free us."
A thud was heard, and Naruto saw it was a corpse, and around the being's neck was a key.
Looking up he saw a man dressed in armor that covered his head and body and carrying a shield in his hand with a long sword on his back, he looked at him and then walked away.
"Okay, thanks I guess?" Naruto stood up and walked up to the body and quickly took the key off from around the man's neck. Walking up, he quickly noticed something else hanging off the guy and he removed it, showing it to be a broken sword with just enough of the metal there to make it into a makeshift dagger.
"Well better than barehanded I guess." Naruto walked up to the gate and quickly put it into the locked door and walked out of the cell. Seeing some of the corpse people hanging around the hall, he quickly moved up to them and with one he slammed the blade into the back of his head sending him collapsing to the ground with his body turning to dust. Naruto gave a silent prayer until he saw the other corpse man shambling toward him and without warning, he darted to the creature and slammed the blade into his chest making it scream at first, but Naruto then put his hands on his head and with a quick twist, snapped his neck. The creature fell to his knees and turned to dust letting his makeshift weapon clatter on the ground.
Hearing a thud Naruto turned to his right after picking up his weapon and saw a giant green demon walking around on the other side of the bars. The creature easily towers over most small buildings and could almost reach the second floor of a larger building if he could jump up and grab the ledge. Naruto could see the creatures' horns stretching out in different directions before seeing his dark red eyes glaring around the room just waiting for something or someone to get in his way.
"That big hammer is something to end most arguments and not something I want to be hit by. But it looks like he is not mobile and those little wings on his back are not built to carry someone of his weight and height too high up in the sky so that might be something to remember if I run into someone like him in the future."
Naruto turned his attention away from the creature and proceeded up the hallway again and this time he came to a small opening where in front of him in a small puddle of water was another one of those near-death creatures and it looked like it either didn't notice his presence or didn't care. Naruto quickly threw his broken weapon up and without hesitation caught it and threw it with all of his strength right into its head. The creature moaned from the pain and then it again disappeared into dust letting his weapon fall into the water. Naruto slowly dropped down into the water and sighed,
"Not like this damn thing wasn't is going to get that much worse." Picking his weapon out of the water, "But why is it everyone is turning to dust after I kill them though? This bear investigation but first I got to find some way out of this fucking prison. Hopefully, the big guy doesn't come looking for me."
Naruto turned to his right and saw a ladder at the end of a small hallway and smiled,
"Well, the only way to go is up so up I go." Naruto walked to the ladder and before long, he manages to find the surface after leaving the final room. From there, he walks over to the gate and saw a sword in the middle of what looked like a bond fire and he frowned,
"Weird I wonder who set this up."
Touch it, ignite the flame and you shall find comfort.
"What the fuck Kurama was that you!?"
"No what are you talking about?"
"I swear I just heard a voice but I can't tell where it came from." Looking around Naruto frowned, "I mean I didn't just hear shit did I?"
"Who knows? Honestly whatever that THING did, it messed with us badly. I think it is best to just try and get this fire started and worry about getting out of this prison before worrying if we are going crazy."
"True." Naruto walked up to the sword and frowned, "Where the fuck am I supposed to get wood to light this thing?"
Hold your hand out and focus on it and the fire shall start.
'That fucking voice again.'
Naruto seeing nothing to lose did as the voice instructed and held his hand out. In seconds a small flame appeared at the bottom of the sword and he frowned,
"Well, this is awkward." Naruto looked at his hand before aiming it at the wall. He tried to will a fireball to appear and fire it, but nothing happened. Looking down he sighed,
'Guess it is just something I can do in this situation or with stuff like this.' Naruto took a seat at the bone fire and sighed,
"Okay, first got to get out of this place." Naruto looked down at his near broken weapon that was rusted up in the worst way, "But I need better gear than this little thing. I guess if the undead is walking around then I best take their stuff instead." Standing up he stretched out his back and walked up the stairs and pushed open the doors showing a small courtyard and he smiled seeing the doors straight ahead of him.
"Well, should be a straight shot of this if all goes well."
Naruto began walking forward and right when he thinks he is about to open the door,
LOOK OUT!
Looking up, Naruto sees something falling down and quickly rolls and runs backward away from the sudden explosion of dirt and debris. Looking through the dirt he sees the same creature from before but he got a clearer look at him and he says,
"Man your uglier up close, not even your mother could love you."
The creature released a grunt,
"You understood that?"
The creature lifted his hammer and swung it down causing a massive explosion of dirt and even causing some of the pillars to break down after the strike due to the pure power of the shockwave.
"Well fuck this." Naruto looked around the area and saw there was no other weapon in the immediate vicinity, but he did see a door that was open to the far left side. So, seeing the creature closing in on him he waited to see what its next move was going to be. Luckily for him, he saw the creature starting to fly up into the sky that allowed him a window where he ran to the left side of the area, against the wall, and into the door when the creature came back down, it rained another massive explosion of dirt and debris.
The door had closed shut behind him and he sighed before rushing down the door not wanting to test the creature if it could slam his club and bash the door down to get another chance to kill him on the spot.
Seeing another sword in the middle of a bonfire he quickly held his hand out again and had it light up before saying,
"Kurama we need better gear if I'm going to fight something like that."
"Agreed, that thing is not that powerful if I'm being honest but without our other skills there is no way we can take it up in a straight-up fight like normal."
'Wait what about just my physical skills? I mean I know I'm stronger and faster than this.'
"Unfortunately that was chakra that helped your body subconsciously. Meaning, that without it your body can't push itself beyond the limits that most humans can achieve when they are at their physical peak. However, it looks like your stamina and speed are higher than normal still so that is something but we are going to need to be careful with creatures like that. They might kill us with a single move and I don't know if I'll return if that happens."
Naruto sighed and nodded his head,
"Well first things first, finding better weapons and I got the feeling heading down this way, we might find some."
Exiting out of the darkened room he entered a long narrow hallway in the open air and he narrowed his eyes seeing some kind of undead being standing there at the other side. He widened when he saw him pulling back on some kind of weapon in his hand and knew right away it was a bow and now coming at him was an arrow. Without hesitation, he quickly rolled under the arrow and ducked into the right side next to a dead body that had something lying on top of his chest. Reaching over he smiled,
"Finally at least something that I can use."
"Naruto that is a fucking shield."
"Exactly." Naruto picked up the shield and seeing the undead at the end of the hall with his bow still aimed, he quickly started rushing toward the undead before having an arrow hit his shield and it just being stuck in place while he closes the distance. He quickly removes the small weapon with his right hand and slams the blade into the throat of the undead causing it to gurgle and then collapse while turning to ash by the time his knees touched the ground. Naruto sighed before seeing another corpse behind the archer and seeing an actual sword on him but with a small curve at the end of the blade, he walked up and quickly put it into his hands while keeping the dagger weapon to throw at his enemies.
Naruto turned the corner and walked up the hallway until he saw another archer it fired an arrow at him and he blocked with his shield.
"Oh to hell with this I'm done dealing with you assholes for one day." Naruto took the broken weapon and threw it at the creature and while the creature's eyes widened at this unusual attack, it didn't have time to register the means to dodge when the blade dug itself into its skull making it fall to the ground with a thud.
Naruto shooked his head while the body turned to dust and quickly picked up the weapon again and walked to the exit, after reaching the end of the balcony he saw that he was back at the courtyard where he started and that he could see the first bonfire. Running to his right he quickly went down the stairs instead of taking the stairs to go up, he found the gate door to his left and without any hesitation, he quickly pushed the door open swiftly and sat down by the fire and relaxed for a minute.
After getting his bearings he proceeded back through the door and walked back up the stairs, even going up the second section of stairs leading him to the third floor. Hearing something he saw a metal ball of death rolling down the stairs and without hesitation he rolled to his right and dodged the oncoming sphere of death letting it roll downward and slam through the wall behind him. Looking over after climbing back up the stairs after not checking where he was rolling and landing on a pair of steps injuring his back he saw the ball resting against the wall. Walking up to the hole he was shocked looking into it and saw the man from before.
Rushing over to the man he asked,
"Are you okay?"
The man in the helmet looked up and coughed,
"Oh, your not a hollow are you? In fact, you seem, more human than anyone I have seen before."
"Uh yeah, I came from across the ocean, the Elemental Nations."
The man tilted his head before coughing again,
"No matter, I'm relieved to see you're not a hollow like the other poor bastards in this place and soon me as well. Listen I have a small favor to ask, I need you to try and escape this place."
"Already on it man, but seriously do you need a doctor I can try and-,"
"No," he coughed, "It is too late for me, I'm dying and as soon as I die I'll return as one of those things. You have to escape while you still have a chance. Please, head out and find the light you might be the one that the world has been waiting for to complete the journey to return the light to this world."
"What the fuck are you-," Naruto saw the man coughing and Naruto sighed, "Alright whatever I'll do whatever you're asking me for but I think you got the wrong guy for this."
"I don't know if I do or not but it is up to you now." He coughed, "Hit the bell of Awakening and complete the great pilgrimage, it is the only way." He then held out two things in his hand, "Here take this these will aid you in your journey."
Naruto grabbed the items, one being a drinking container for some kind of gold substance and the other is a key and he was sure it was to some kind of area of the prison that he has yet to see.
"Now go, I would hate to hurt you when I turn."
Naruto frowned,
"Do you want me to end your life?" He showed him the broken weapon and his curved sword but the man shook his head and without warning put a dagger through his own chest making him groan in pain. He soon turned to dust as well and faded away and Naruto could only scratch his head,
"So it is not the guys from before, EVERYONE can do this shit? Man, what a weird place I wonder if I would turn to dust then?"
"Let's not find out anytime soon."
Naruto nodded his head,
"Right let's get a move on." Naruto turned back around and proceeded through the hole in the wall and back up the stairs again. This time he managed to reach the third floor of the building. But standing there was one of the undead who is brandishing a short sword and clumsily rushing at him with the weapon over his head. Naruto quickly smashed the shield into the being's face sending him falling backward before Naruto stomped on his throat breaking his neck in an instant. Naruto sighed before walking forward and trying to open the door normally but it failed. So pulling out the key he got he put it into the lock and after a quick turn, he pulls the door open before walking through the corridor outside. Naruto admired the blue sky and smiled before seeing another one of the shambling monsters rushing at him with the weapon above his head. Naruto shook his head,
"Too easy honestly."
Naruto rushed the monster and after smashing the shield across his face, the creature hit the wall with a thud and fell down in a sitting position. He tried to get up but Naruto quickly kicked him in the neck leaving the creature rolling on the ground gasping for air. This ultimately lead to Naruto just stomping on the back of his neck killing the creature in one fell swoop.
Naruto heard more shuffling and saw another one of the undead rushing at him and without hesitation threw his shield into his face causing it to fall back a bit before Naruto pulled out the broken weapon with his left hand and slammed the blade into his neck before turning him to block an oncoming arrow.
Pulling the broken weapon out he threw it at the archer nailing him right between the eyes.
The archer turned to dust a second later and Naruto could only sigh before walking into the new room where instead of the usual undead he saw one carrying a large shield in his left hand while holding a sword in his right. Naruto seeing this, pulled out his sword and held it with both hands waiting to see what this creature could do.
'Heavier armor than the other ones meaning he has to be slightly stronger than them in most regards. But I can tell the armor and heavy sword are slow to move so that means,'
The undead rushes him with the shield in front but then quickly pulls it back to throw the blade in a piercing motion. But before the blade could reach him Naruto directed the blade downward throwing the creature's footing off and making it fall forward. Without wasting a second Naruto got around the armored undead and slammed his blade straight through his chest making it cough for a second before Naruto kicked him off his blade and pulled the blade backward. After the undead fell to the ground and died Naruto sighed but noticed that like in prior fights he could see these tiny flickers of light that were coming off their body. But unlike the ones before he noticed these ones quickly floated to him and entered his body.
"Kurama did something happen to me? I noticed with this one that light-,"
"No it looks like whatever that stuff is, it is just sitting there. Like it is waiting for something but I don't know what."
Naruto frowned and shook his head with a sigh,
"I guess we'll deal with it in time."
Naruto proceeded to the locked door and tried to open it but saw it wouldn't budge. Sighing he proceed out of the room and saw to his right that it was a balcony. Walking over tentatively, he looked down and saw the creature from before staring up at him and it didn't look like it forgot his earlier comment. Naruto walked away from the edge and sighed,
"Okay looks like I got to go through him to get the fuck out of this place." Walking to the ledge again, he smiled down at him and then leaped into the air before aiming his sword straight down.
The creature screamed in pain when it felt Naruto dig his sword into his skull before pulling it out and jumping away from the creature. The creature stumbled for a second and Naruto didn't hesitate, he pulled out his broken weapon and waited for it to take straight at him.
When the creature did and roared with a mighty swing, he threw the weapon and jumped backward avoiding most of the shockwave that would have sent him flying if it. The creature too busy trying to smash him, never noticed until the broken hilted weapon pierced its right eye that it screamed in pain. It reached for the weapon, allowing Naruto to get enough of the distraction that it rushed forward and slid underneath its girth, and slashed at its ankle making the creature lose balance. He fell to the ground on top of his hammer and his wings flapped wildly. Naruto smiled,
"Time to end this." Naruto jumped onto the creature's back right as he lifted his head to try and get out from underneath him, the blade went through the back of his neck and he quickly dragged it through the muscle and fiber. All the way up to the tip of its skull leaving the creature screaming in pain before collapsing face-first into the floor again. This time, the creature's body exploded in a large powder of dust with many orbs of light floating around Naruto and him being filled up with whatever it was.
Shaking his head he sighed after seeing the hammer still on the ground but it seemed to have shrunk down to his size and a key was also there in the ashes. Naruto quickly picked up the hammer but found it was too heavy for him to use so he just put it on his back.
In a quick flash of light, the hammer disappeared and Naruto couldn't find any trace of the weapon.
"Okay I seriously need someone to explain this place to me but for now let's get out of here." Naruto walked up to the gate with his key and after putting it in, he pushed the door open the massive doors leading to a path going upward to what seems to be nowhere. Naruto could only sigh at the sight, just ruins. So walking around the ruins for a bit he picked up some minor stuff including this white ball of light he didn't understand how but it merged with his body like the rest of the stuff he got off killing most of the undead.
Walking to the peak he saw nothing but the mountains and could only fathom how he was going to get out of here without dying in the process, that is until he heard something flapping in the distance. He looked but before he could react, a giant crow appeared before him from down below and quickly grabbed him with his claws and started flying off in an unknown direction. Naruto could only wonder,
"What the fuck is up with this new world?"
Inside of the seal on the other hand Kurama was having his own crisis. When Naruto mentioned a voice in his head that wasn't him he started exploring more of his new surroundings and trying to pinpoint exactly where it was. Figuring it must either be with the new energy that had emerged recently, he started there. But when he got there he was shocked to see all the floating orbs around what looked like a woman but one he couldn't help but stare at two specific parts of her anatomy. They just bounced inside a very thin white toga and she had long red hair and seemingly this calm and serene aura around her. He could feel the power coming off of this woman, it was on par with his own but he was not worried. If it comes down it he was sure he could take her still with what remains of his power.
"Who are you?"
The woman turned to him and she smiled,
"My name is-,"
