As you may or may not already know, Emerald Green has been Tommy Halverson's archenemy for a long time, even back in Australia. It was never specified how Emerald became the lost cause she is, and neither does Tommy. Only one person knows why Emerald's the way she is, but that's a story for another time. Though ever since she was expelled from Birchwood Elementary, Emerald had started to binge eat pizza, French fries, ice cream, burgers, hot dogs, doughnuts, cookies, cakes, and all kinds of unhealthy foods with no consideration for her health, which now put her at 289 pounds.
Due to the fire Emerald had inadvertently started shortly before Thanksgiving, the police had come to take her away. Tommy and Scarlet stayed behind to watch her being carted away.
"Sayonara!" Tommy smirked.
"I never thought Emerald would do something so dreadful!" Scarlet said.
At the police station, Emerald was talking with the police along with her dad, while her mother wondered what to do about her. Outside the room sat Eugene, Emerald's little brother, and Jasmine, their little sister, as well as their mother Anya.
"There's no way Dad will let this slide." said Eugene. "If he tries to defend her actions….."
Riley, Emerald's dad, came out.
"I've spoken to the police and….."
"Yes?" asked Eugene.
"We can get her off if she learns about how to be safe with fire." Riley said.
"Are you insane, Dad?!" exclaimed Jasmine. "You're talking about letting Emerald back in the house! Couldn't you see the damage she'd done?!"
"Now, Jasmine…." Riley started. "She didn't mean to cause the fire."
"But still," said Eugene. "fire can kill people!"
The chief of police came out with Emerald.
"Now, Mr. and Mrs. Green." he said. "What shall we do as far as Emerald is concerned?"
"Let her free!" Riley exclaimed, wasting no time answering.
"Are you insane, Dad?!" exclaimed Eugene. "Sure, she only started a fire once, but she could start another one!"
"As I said." said Riley. "We'll have to teach her how to respect fire."
"Riley, dear." said Anya. "Please listen to our younger ones!"
"Emerald's come home, and that's final!" Riley said firmly.
Anya just shook her head.
The only punishment Emerald got for starting the fire was 2 weeks suspension from school. As Scarlet walked into the homeroom, she talked about Emerald's punishment.
"What happened to Emerald?" asked Charlie Brown.
"She's just suspended for the week." said Scarlet. "Her dad just paid the fine to stop her going into prison."
"What?!" exclaimed Lucy.
"So Emerald got off scot free?!" Linus added.
"I know! It's ridiculous!" said Scarlet angrily. "And her father's not helping matters! He's just encouraging her bad behaviour!"
"At least we won't have to deal with her for a couple of weeks." Tommy smiled.
"Though I fear the day she returns." said Frieda with worry.
The school week was over, and Tommy was walking with Charlie Brown home.
"So, what will you be doing this weekend, Charlie?" Tommy asked his round-headed friend.
"I haven't quite decided yet, Tommy." Said Charlie Brown. "It'll mainly be feeding Snoopy, maybe hanging out with Linus, Heather, and the others.
"With the money you gave me for my birthday, I'm going to find a model train to add to my collection." Tommy responded.
"That's quite an outing, Tommy." Said Charlie Brown.
"I can't wait to…."
but before Tommy could complete his sentence, he was snatched away from Charlie Brown.
"Tommy? Oh, good grief!" sighed Charlie Brown, surprised to see that Tommy had disappeared.
Tommy was surprised to see who had snatched him away.
"E…. Oh. It's you, Emerald." Sighed Tommy. "Any plans for the weekend?"
"No, but I have plans for you." smirked Emerald. "You are going to be my slave."
"Slave? Oh, good grief!" Tommy sighed, wondering how he'd gotten into this.
"I'll show you what you need to do for me this weekend." Said Emerald.
Emerald brought Tommy to her house, and as they got there, Tommy was most surprised to see that…..
"Emerald! You didn't tell me you were a sister!" Tommy exclaimed.
And she was. Emerald had a younger sister named Jasmine, and a younger brother named Eugene.
"Er…. Hello." Said Tommy.
"Eugene, Jasmine. This is Tommy, who will be doing my chores for the weekend." Said Emerald.
"Oh dear." Sighed Tommy. He didn't like the sound of this at all.
"Dad! I've brought someone here to do my chores!" shouted Emerald.
Downstairs came Emerald's pop Riley.
"Tommy Halverson, is it?" asked Riley.
"Yes, Mr. Green." Whimpered Tommy.
"Look, Tommy. You can call me Riley if you want." He said.
"Yes, Riley." Said Tommy.
"Now, the first chore you need to do….." Riley began. "Wash the dishes."
Tommy didn't like the sound of this, but he knew he had to do what Emerald was supposed to do.
"Hmm….. Yes, Riley." Sighed Tommy, giving in.
And Tommy went to the kitchen almost immediately.
"Great job, Dad!" smirked Emerald.
But when Tommy got there, he was shocked to see many dirty bowls, plates, forks, spoons, saucepans and knifes. Then, he looked towards the dishwasher.
"Why do you need to wash the dishes?" asked Tommy. "They have a dishwasher for cry…"
Tommy thought and thought.
"This gives me an idea." Tommy smirked.
So he stood back, and stared at the dishes for as long as he could. An hour later, Emerald's mother Anya came in, having finished work at the barbers for the week, surprised to see Tommy.
"Tommy?!" Exclaimed Anya.
"Oh….. Mrs. Green, right?" asked Tommy.
"You can call me Anya." She smiled. "And…. What are you doing here?"
"Your daughter has decided to make me her slave for the weekend." Tommy said sadly. "And Riley told me to watch the dishes."
"Did they?" said Anya. "Well, I'll have a word with them."
"Thanks, Anya." Said Tommy, and he put his eyes back on the dishes.
"Gee, there's so much dirt on these dishes." Tommy said in disgust.
As he said this, Riley and Emerald walked in.
"So, did you finish washing the dishes, Tommy?" asked Riley.
"No he didn't!" said Emerald angrily. "In fact, he didn't even touch the dishes!"
"Emerald!" said Tommy. "I was doing as you said! I was using my eyes to watch the dishes!"
"Eyes?!" Emerald said angrily.
Then, Emerald started to realise what Tommy thought her dad was telling him to do.
"NO!" shouted Emerald. "Not 'watch'! He said 'wash'! Wash the dishes!"
"Emerald's right." Said Riley angrily. "I mean scrub the dishes with soap and water."
"Oh…." Said Tommy. "You mean clean the dishes."
Then he looked towards the dishwasher.
"You don't need your own hands to wash the dishes either!" said Tommy.
"You wash the dishes, and you can have dinner." Said Emerald, as she and her dad walked away.
"Okay then." Said Tommy.
As soon as Emerald and her dad left the kitchen, he put all the dishes, one at a time, into the dishwasher, once he'd finished, he placed a tablet in, and then, the dishwasher went.
Emerald and Riley came in, shocked to see the empty sink.
"You washed the dishes?!" exclaimed Riley.
"I sure did." Said Tommy.
"So where are the dishes?" asked Emerald.
"In the dishwasher." Smirked Tommy. "See? You don't need your hands to wash the dishes."
Riley and Emerald were frustrated at this.
"The reason we ask you to wash dishes by hand," said Riley. "is so you can learn discipline."
"Well, why not ask Emerald to do it?" asked Tommy.
"Because….. she already knows discipline." Said Riley.
"Indeed I do, Dad." Smirked Emerald.
"Don't worry." Said Tommy. "A few hours and the dishwasher will have cleaned your dishes."
"Tommy. Once they're cleaned, put the dishes away." Emerald said.
"That chore I am willing to do." Said Tommy.
After Tommy put the dishes away after they were clean, Riley had called on his son, wife, daughters and Tommy for dinner.
Riley had order a Hawaiian pizza for himself and Emerald. Anya was having chicken and peas, but as he gave Emerald her pizza, Riley gave Tommy, Eugene and Jasmine their dinner….
"Eugene." said Riley. "Here's your dinner of kale."
"Ew!" groaned Eugene. "I hate kale, Daddy!"
"Well, Eugene! You need to eat it!"
Then Riley gave Jasmine a plate….
"Your dinner of spinach, Jas."
"Gross! I hate spinach, Daddy!" Jasmine groaned.
"Well you have to eat it!" Riley said sternly, and he gave Tommy….
"Your Brussels sprouts, Tommy."
"Gross! I hate Brussels sprouts, Daddy!" Tommy groaned.
"Well, you kids need to eat them!" Riley said angrily.
"Riley." said Tommy. "This is child abuse."
"How?" asked Riley.
"All you gave Eugene was kale, you just gave Jasmine spinach, and all you gave me was Brussels sprouts." Tommy said. "There's no balanced diet in these!"
"Well, kids need to eat their vegetables!" said Riley.
"They need to eat other foods too! You can't eat just vegetables!"
"Vegans only eat vegetables!"
"Well, vegans are weird!" Tommy said angrily.
"Tommy." said Riley. "Shut up and eat."
Tommy went upstairs with the Brussels sprouts, into the bathroom, and locked the door.
"Yuck! I'm not eating these disgusting green balls." Tommy moaned as he tossed them all into the toilet, and flushed it.
Soon, Tommy came back downstairs.
"Did you eat your Brussels sprouts, Tommy?" Emerald asked.
"Yes." Said Tommy.
"Are you sure?" Asked Riley.
"Surer than sugar." Tommy said innocently.
"Okay, Tommy." Said Riley. "I believe you."
"Now, give me a slice of p…."
Tommy was shocked to see….
"You ate it all up!"
"Yes." Said Emerald. "It was so good, I just couldn't help but eat it all."
"You! You should've saved some for me!" Tommy said angrily.
"Sorry, but….. maybe next time." Emerald smirked.
Riley picked up the pizza box and took it out to the recycling. Eugene and Jasmine, whom despised their meals, made sure their father was out of sight. Eugene picked up his plate of kale and tossed it into the garbage bin.
"Gross!" Eugene said.
Jasmine threw her plate of spinach into the garbage bin.
"Yuck!" shouted Jasmine.
Riley soon caught his younger offspring red-handed…. well, green-handed to be precise.
"EUGENE! JASMINE!" he shouted. "WHY DID YOU THROW THOSE PLATES AWAY?!"
"They slipped." said Eugene.
"They sure did." added Jasmine.
"They did not slip!" Riley growled. "You did that on purpose! Go to your rooms this instant!"
It was soon bedtime, and Emerald escorted Tommy to the room he'd be staying at for the night.
"Tommy. Here's where you'll be sleeping tonight." Emerald said.
Emerald opened the door, and…..
"This is where you sleep?" Tommy said. "This is amazing!"
Tommy jumped onto Emerald's bed.
"Hey! This bed is fun!" Tommy shouted, jumping all over it.
"STOP IT!" Emerald shouted. "STOP!"
Emerald pulled Tommy off of her bed.
"That's my bed! You sleep on the floor!"
"Er….. is that really fair?" asked Tommy.
"Of course it's fair!" snapped Emerald. "Now go to sleep!"
Meanwhile, Charlie Brown was sitting in the beanbag with a worried look on his face. Sally walked into the living room with concern.
"Let me guess, Sally." Charlie Brown sighed. "You want me to do your homework."
"At a time like this, I wish that was the issue, but that's not it." Sally answered.
Sally looked at her older brother's face.
"What seems to be the problem, Big Brother?" asked Sally.
"It's Tommy." Said Charlie Brown. "He's gone….. missing."
"Hmm…. Where did you see him last, Big Brother?"
"As we were walking out of school, asking what to do for the weekend, he suddenly vanished." Charlie Brown answered.
"This looks like a job for Snoopy." Sally smirked. "But we'll worry about his whereabouts tomorrow."
The next morning, Charlie Brown got up, and saw Snoopy lying on top of his doghouse.
"Snoopy! Here's your breakfast." Charlie Brown said, holding out his regular doggy dish of dog food.
"Oh?" Snoopy questioned.
"While you eat that up, I'll tell you what happened." Said Charlie Brown. "You know Tommy?"
"Huh?" Snoopy wondered.
"He's another round-headed kid." Said Charlie Brown. "He's gone missing."
Snoopy thought and thought.
"Ah ha!"
Snoopy went into his dog house and came out, dressed as a detective, and holding a magnifying glass.
"There goes the World-Famous Detective on the case." Sighed Charlie Brown.
Back at the Greens' place, Emerald and her siblings were debating what to watch. They fought over the remote.
"I wanna watch Beagle Man!" Eugene added.
"I wanna watch Bunny Wunnies!" shouted Jasmine.
"I wanna watch After!" Emerald said angrily.
Tommy came into the room to see the Green siblings fighting.
"Beagle Man!"
"Bunny Wunnies!"
"After!"
Tommy grabbed the remote and tugged it towards him.
"Bunny Wunnies." He said.
"Yay!" cheered Jasmine.
As the two little Green siblings sat on the couch, Emerald was about to walk off, due to how much she hated this particular show.
"By the way, Emerald." Tommy said. "It's called Arthur."
"Huh?!" Emerald was confused.
"The show you wanted to watch is called Arthur, not 'After'!" Tommy said sternly.
Emerald was surprised. Due to the way Australians pronounce "After", it and "Arthur" sounded a lot alike.
"Really?!" Emerald said. "I don't care. I wanna watch it anyway."
But before Emerald could fight over the remote again, a kick at the door was heard.
"Hark. Who's at the door this early?" Wondered Emerald.
Emerald answered the door, and was surprised to see it was the World-Famous Detective Snoopy.
"Oh. It's you, Sniffy. What do you want?"
Snoopy got out his magnifying glass to find traces of Tommy, only to see the TV with Eugene and Jasmine watching TV. On the TV was Bunny Wunny.
"Yay!" cheered Snoopy.
Snoopy took off his detective outfit and parked himself in front of the TV.
"Good grief! It's Charlie Brown's dog…. Sniffy, is it?" Emerald sighed.
Then Emerald remembered…..
"Ah ha! Dad's rule!"
Emerald picked up Snoopy, and escorted him to the front door.
"Emerald, No!" Tommy shouted.
Emerald dropped Snoopy onto her foot and kicked him out.
"NO PETS!" Emerald shouted as she shut the door.
"Hmm….." Snoopy thought.
"Emerald, why did you just kick Snoopy out?" Tommy asked.
"My dad has a rule of no pets in the house." Emerald said. "And Sniffy there…."
"His name is Snoopy." Tommy corrected.
"Whatever." Said Emerald. "Sniffy broke the rule; No pets!"
"Rules are made to be broken." Tommy smirked.
"Tommy. Dad says you need to take out the garbage." Emerald said.
"Take out the garbage?!" Tommy exclaimed. "Why….."
Then, Tommy got a naughty idea.
"Yes." He said. "I will take the garbage out."
Tommy went over to the garbage bin, and pulled out the bag, and saw Emerald walking to the door.
"Where are you going, Emerald?" Asked Tommy.
"I'm going to…."
Then Emerald thought and thought.
"Phone Scarlet." Emerald decided. "Want to find some new clothes for this season."
So Emerald went to the phone to call Scarlet.
"Hello. Scarlet. It's Emerald. Wanna come clothes shopping with me? Of course clothes that fit me! Okay. See you there."
"I'm going with my dad to buy some new clothes, and Scarlet will be there." Said Emerald. "My clothes are starting to feel tight on me."
"Hmm….." Thought Tommy.
"Well, gotta go now. Remember, do my chores for me." Emerald said as she and her dad left.
"Okay." Said Tommy. "I'll take out the garbage."
As Emerald left the house, allowing her siblings to watch Bunnie Wunnies, Tommy had a naughty idea on his mind.
"Oh, I can't wait until I get my new clothes." Said Emerald. "After all, I want the boys to think I look mighty fine."
"I'm sure you look fine already." Said Riley.
Emerald and her dad arrived at the mall where Scarlet was waiting.
"Hi, Scarlet." Said Emerald.
"Oh. Hi, Emerald, Riley." Said Scarlet.
"Emerald really needs to buy some new clothes." Said Riley. "This shirt is starting to feel tight on her as she says."
"Yes. I just wanna look good for the winter season." Said Emerald. "Though it'd be summer for us in Australia."
"Try to lose weight." Thought Scarlet, eyeing Emerald's figure. Scarlet didn't dare say what she'd thought to Emerald.
Snoopy had arrived back at the Browns' place, feeling dejected.
"Found Tommy?" Asked Charlie Brown.
Snoopy looked up and nodded.
"Good work, Snoopy." Said Charlie Brown. "Lead me to his whereabouts."
So Snoopy walked ahead of Charlie Brown, and all the way to Emerald's place. Heather the Little Red-Haired Girl watched Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
"Where is Charlie Brown off to now?" she thought.
Fifi looked over the fence and decided to follow on.
At last, Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Fifi arrived at the Greens' place.
"This is Emerald's place?" Charlie Brown quizzed.
Snoopy looked at Charlie Brown and nodded.
Back at the mall, Emerald was trying on different clothes. One piece of winter clothing was a green duffle coat.
"Hmm….. I am rather big, but this is too big for me." Emerald decided.
Next, Emerald tried on a woolly jumper.
"This kangaroo sheep is too woolly." she decided.
At last, Emerald tried on a coat that was leaf green with spring green woolly fringes.
"At, this is perfect." Emerald said. "May we buy this, Daddy?"
"Certainly." said Riley.
As Emerald spoke with her father, Scarlet decided to try on some winter clothing. She tried on a coat that was scarlet red with coral red woolly fringes.
"This is the one!" Scarlet decided.
"Now, we can buy these coats for ourselves." said Emerald.
Back at the Greens' place, Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Fifi walked in, and there was Tommy, sitting at the dining table with the garbage bag.
"Tommy!" Charlie Brown cried.
"Oh. Hey, Charlie." said Tommy.
"What are you doing with the garbage bag?"
"Emerald told me to take it out before she left." said Tommy.
"Where is Emerald anyway?" asked Charlie Brown.
"She went clothes shopping with her father, and Scarlet went with them." Tommy explained. "Emerald says her clothes are starting to feel tight on her."
"Well, she wouldn't have to buy such big clothes if she'd tried to lose weight." Charlie Brown said. "Anyway, we're here to free you."
"Oh, you are?" Tommy said. "Thanks, Charlie! But before you get me out of here….."
Before Tommy could finish his sentence, Emerald and her dad got home. Emerald and her dad were shocked to see…..
"Charlie Brown?! Sniffy? Fluffy?" Emerald exclaimed. "What on earth are you three doing here?!"
"Come to free Tommy." said Charlie Brown.
"Nuh uh!" said Emerald. "Tommy, did you…."
But Emerald was alarmed to see…..
"Tommy! What are you doing here with the garbage bag?!"
"I'm taking out the garbage like you said." said Tommy.
"But why is it on the chair?" demanded Emerald.
"It's a candlelit date." Tommy said.
"No!" Riley shouted. "When Emerald said 'Take the garbage out', she didn't mean take it out on a date! She meant take it out and throw it in the bin!"
"Riley, that's very rude. The garbage is right here."
Emerald then turned to Snoopy and Fifi.
"Sniffy! Fluffy!" Emerald sneered. "What did my dad say about dogs in the house?"
"Nothing." said Charlie Brown.
"No!" Emerald said. "He said no dogs in the house! I told him about Sniffy coming to school! Daddy!"
Riley then came to Snoopy and Fifi, grabbed Fifi by the collar, and was just about to toss her out when he felt a bite on his left hand.
"Ow! Hey!"
Riley looked down at Snoopy, seeing him bite his hand.
"Bad dog!" Riley shouted. "Very bad dog! Let go of me!"
Snoopy bit even harder.
"Good dog!" called Tommy. "Extremely good dog!"
"I'm out of here!" said Charlie Brown as he went home to tell the others.
Emerald was furious at what Snoopy was doing to her dad. She was even more furious at Tommy for encouraging him. As Riley fought the two dogs, Emerald prepared two plates of food, unbeknownst to her, Tommy had already gotten out a packet of Doritos.
"Alright, Tommy!" called Emerald. "Your lunch is ready!"
"Yep!" said Tommy. "Time for Doritos!"
But Riley smacked the Doritos out of Tommy's hand.
"NO, TOMMY!" shouted Riley. "No Doritos!"
"You," Emerald said. "Are going to eat….. 2 plates of spinach!"
"GROSS!" shouted Tommy. "I DESPISE SPINACH!"
"I can tell you don't like spinach." said Riley. "But they'll make you big and strong!"
"Doritos will make me big too!" Tommy retorted.
"They'll make you big as in fat!" Emerald replied.
"Then I'll be just like you!" Tommy shouted.
"TOMMY!" shouted Riley.
"Look, Tommy." said Emerald. "Spinach reduces hypertension, improves your eyes, relaces your body, and it takes away your weight."
"Alright then!" said Tommy. "How about you eat it!"
Tommy picked up the plates of spinach, and threw one in Emerald's face, and the other in Riley's face.
"Now's my chance!" Tommy cried, as he took the packet of Doritos, and made a break for it. It was lucky that he threw the plates in their faces, just enough to blind Emerald and Riley for long enough for him to escape.
"Yuck! Spinach in my face!" Emerald shouted.
Anya came downstairs, confused as to why Emerald and Riley were covered in spinach.
"Goodness! What happened here?" she asked.
"That blockhead Tommy threw it in our faces, Mum!" Emerald explained. "He was trying to eat Doritos, but I stopped…."
"That's enough, Emerald!" said Anya. "You go to your room and…."
"Anya, No!" Riley shouted. "You leave poor Emerald alone! She's been through enough today!"
Anya shook her head. She wanted to discipline Emerald for her actions, but Riley always stopped her.
"I'll get him next time!" Emerald said angrily. "Eugene! Take out the garbage!"
Tommy got out of the Greens' place, and there were Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Sally, Wally, Woodstock, Heather, Janice, Linus, Lucy, Rerun, Katie, Mary Stewart, Frieda, Scarlet, Franklin, Schroeder, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Violet, the other Patty, Pig-Pen and Shermy.
"Tommy!" Frieda cheered as she hugged him. "Are you alright? How is it in there?"
"Awful!" Tommy said sadly. "Emerald always hogs the treats, fights with her siblings, made me sleep on the floor, and makes me do her chores for me! If only she'd do them herself….."
"There there, Tommy." said Frieda, hugging him. "It's all over now. You're safe with us."
"How I wish Emerald would change her ways." sighed Scarlet.
"So who wants to play with model trains?" Tommy asked.
"I do!" Shermy called.
"Let's!" Katie cried.
So everyone made for Tommy's house, leaving the Greens' place. Eugene took out the garbage.
"If only Emerald would do this stuff on her own!" he sighed.
