Summary: [One-shot] Set during season 6. Faith finds out Buffy is alive and breaks out of prison to go see her, leading to a fiery confrontation between the two women with some…unexpected results.

A/N: First off I'd like to say I'm not dead, I've just taken a long break from writing but recently I've felt compelled to get back into it. I'm not too great at writing Buffy stories so please be kind. I'm mostly writing this as a surprise present for my good friend, Danielle. ( catrahark on Twitter)

A low groan fell from the brunette's woman's lips as she sat up in bed, dark eyes looking over disdainfully at the set of metal bars not too far from her, keeping her confined to this tiny ass cell. She knew she deserved it though, after what she did to Buffy and her friends.

Buffy. The name caused a wave of emotion to surge through the girl's body, remembering how only a few months ago she got the news that Buffy died to save the world. A few years ago, she would have rejoiced, having wanting to kill the girl herself, but an unexplained sadness filled her when she heard the news, though she wouldn't dare allow herself to be vulnerable in a place like this. Her and Buffy had a complicated relationship to say the least. First they were friends, then enemies, but she wasn't sure what they were before Buffy died. Now, she would never know.

"Faith."

Jogging her out of her thoughts, Faith looked up at the officer standing outside her cell, the usual emotionless look on his face as he addressed her. "You have a visitor."

Wonder who this could be? Faith thought to herself as she rose from the bed, dainty fingertips adjusting the disgustingly orange jumpsuit that hung around her body. God she wished she could wear real clothes in here, it would make being stuck in here just a bit more bearable. Disregarding the thoughts for now, she exited the cell, not even bothering to look behind her as the guard closed the door to her cage. Her mind was more focused on who this visitor could be.

Willow sat awkwardly in the chair as she awaited Faith to show up, hands gripping the phone she would use to talk to Faith. It had been a few weeks since they brought Buffy back, and she knew Faith had a right to know Buffy was alive and well, even though their last encounter was more or less not a great one. Willow still hated Faith with a passion, and she wasn't sure if her feelings towards her would ever change, not that Faith would ever really change herself. She knew Faith was willingly staying in here on some sort of path towards redemption, but a stubborn part of her refused to believe that Faith would truly turn over a new leaf. She would always be who she is at her core.

Hearing the metal door swing open, Willow's eyes darted in the direction of the sound, seeing Faith walking towards her. A look of surprise was visible on the young girl's face, but she quickly tried to cover it up, doing her best to remain stoic in front of the redhead.

Taking a seat, she hastily reached forward and grabbed the phone, a small smirk stretching across Faith's features as she leaned slightly forward towards the thin glass separating them. "Well well well, if it isn't little miss redhead. Came to pay this deranged killer a visit?"

Willow let out a sigh, having expected this reaction from her. Faith wasn't exactly known for being polite, or for showing a range of emotions, unless if you counted anger and arrogance. "Faith…how have you been? Is rehab going well?"

Rolling her eyes, Faith lazily twirled a piece of her hair in her hand, quickly becoming bored already by this unannounced visit. "Oh you know, five by five. Made lots of friends. We were in the middle of braiding each other's hair when you came by."

Willow looked down, not entirely sure how she should start. It was easy for her to deliver the news to Angel, since she was far more comfortable around him, but Faith was an entirely different story. She had no idea how she would react to the news. "Well, I'm glad to hear it's working out for you."

Slamming the phone down roughly, Faith glared heatedly at Willow, not in the mood for these games. She would rather be back in her cell than conversing with one of her ex dead friend's friend. She knew the witch had a reason to be here, and she wanted nothing more than to get this awkward interaction over with. "Enough with the idle chitchat. What are you doing here, Willow?"

Jumping at the sound, Willow took in a shaky breath, trying to ignore the few people looking at them now due to Faith's small outburst. Okay, she would just come right out and say it. The sooner she did, the sooner she could get back to her friends. "I have something I need to tell you, Faith. It's hard to believe at first, but I promise you it's the truth. It's about Buffy….she's alive."

Faith just stared at Willow for a moment, before shaking her head, letting out a bitter laugh, an amused tone saturating her voice as she spoke, "Wow, and here I thought you had something important to tell me. Y'know, jokes really aren't your strong suit."

"It's true." Willow said simply, no hostility or anger in her tone, just saying it like it was a fact, and it was. It really wasn't any concern of hers that Faith didn't believe her. She had delivered the message, and now she could go. Without another word, Willow stood up, managing to catch the brief flash of surprise on Faith's face before it quickly vanished, her expression now unreadable. She half expected Willow to argue, try and convince her that she was telling the truth, but she just said her piece and left.

The guard gestured for Faith to stand up, and she did so obediently, heading back through the large sets of doors where she originally came. Her mind was swarming with thoughts, all of them thinking how ridiculous Willow's words were and how silly it was to come all the way down from Sunnydale just for a prank. But, a small voice nagged at her. What if Willow was telling the truth, and Buffy was really alive? Faith wasn't sure how to process it, or bring herself to believe that reviving someone who had been killed was a possibility. It sounded insane, but the more she thought about it, the more it bugged her. She would never truly know if Willow was telling the truth unless if she went to Sunnydale herself. The thought of breaking out unnerved her. She had made a promise to Angel, and to herself that she would stay in here to try and atone for the sins she committed, but now with this new information hanging over her head, she wouldn't be able to rest until she knew if Buffy was alive or not.

Making her way into the courtyard, Faith lifted up a hand slightly to shield her eyes from the blinding sun, her eyes taking some time to adjust after being stuck inside all day. Breathing out a rough sigh as the officers walked away, she surveyed her surroundings, seeing a bunch of prisoners standing around with cops watching their every move, all of them on high alert in case if an altercation broke out. The fenced in area was high, but it wasn't too high for her to quickly maneuver over and escape. That part would be easy. The real bitch of all of this is that she would be on the run again, not able to stay in one place for long. That wouldn't be an issue for long. She would come back, all she wanted to do was see if Buffy was alive and kicking like Willow claimed.

It was now or never. Breaking out into a sudden run, she headed straight for the fence, ignoring the guards who began chasing her, ordering her to stop. They quickly pulled out their firearms, prepared to shoot just as Faith climbed the fence and made it to the other side before they could get a shot off. A few shots rang through the air, but Faith was already out of their line of fire. "Sorry boys, there's an old girlfriend I need to see. I won't be gone long." Sirens blared loudly as Faith continued running, eventually getting a good amount of distance between her and the prison. There was no turning back now. She was on her way to Sunnydale.

"Hang tight, B. I'm on my way."

A young blonde haired girl stood in the middle of the familiar looking cemetery, eyes hastily scanning the area for any vampire threats. She had been out here for nearly thirty minutes and there was no sign of anything suspicious. Maybe they were taking the night off. Sighing, she made her way over to a random tombstone, lazily sitting on top of it, a low sigh leaving her lips. Ever since she had been brought back to life, she felt like her life has been one big daze. She never got any real enjoyment from anything anymore, and she tried her best to put on a brave face for her friends and her sister, Dawn. But if she was being honest with herself, she didn't feel attachment towards any of them. Not like she did before. She felt more at peace when she was dead, and that realization chilled her to the bone. Buffy knew people counted on her and needed her, and she should be glad that she was alive, but she wasn't. She felt hollow, and lately the only person who had been able to make her feel anything was Spike.

Her skin crawled in disgust at the thought of his name, and she hoped to god he wouldn't make an appearance tonight. That was the last thing she needed, was to be surrounded by him making puppy dog eyes at her. She hated herself for getting lost in those brief moments with him, for allowing him to treat her the way he does, but it was the only thing that made her feel even just a tiny bit of emotion.

Hopping down from where she had been perched, Buffy was officially done waiting for vampires to show up, and just wanted to go home and take a nice, long shower. Before she could get very far, however, a low growl stopped her in her tracks. Breathing out a heavy sigh, she turned around to the vampire standing there. "Seriously? You have the worst timing ever. I was just getting ready to leave. Can we do this another night?"

The vampire suddenly charged at Buffy, but she was able to react in time by sidestepping him and kicking him hard in the torso. She rained more blows down on him, but he eventually got the upper hand and struck her, sending Buffy flying backwards onto the hard ground. She quickly moved into a standing position, but the vampire was faster, and grabbed her before she could fully recover. Letting out a gasp, Buffy quickly tried to get away but he threw her to the ground, pinning her there as he leaned his monstrous visage close to hers, preparing to take a bite out of her neck when his eyes went wide as a stake plunged into his chest, causing an explosion of dust to shower down on Buffy. However, Buffy was too busy focusing on the person standing in front of her to care about the now dead vampire.

"I guess the rumors are true after all. Little miss Buffy Summers rose from the dead."

Faith towered over Buffy as she rose to her feet, unable to hold back the surprise on her face at seeing her former friend now alive. A million emotions ran through her, but she tried to force them to the back of her mind, doing her best to appear nonchalant. "Can't believe you almost got yourself killed again. You should know that honor is reserved for me."

"Faith." The low whisper left Buffy's lips as she stared at the woman who caused her so much grief and heartache, the woman with whom she used to be so close to, and now they couldn't be further apart. Ever since she was brought back, she often wondered how Faith was doing, knowing the girl had a long road to recovery ahead of her. She still wasn't sure if she completely forgave Faith for all the atrocities she committed, but now, seeing her standing here, all Buffy felt was an immense wave of relief flooding her, along with some confusion. What was she doing back in Sunnydale? "Don't take this the wrong way, but what are you doing here? Last I heard you were serving hard time up in LA."

Fixing her leather jacket, Faith shot Buffy a sly grin, leaning her slender body up against one of the graves. "Heard you were alive, and I wanted to see if Red was telling the truth. Turns out she was."

"You could have called." Buffy countered, but deep down, she was glad Faith was here, even though she wouldn't admit it out loud.

"Where's the fun in that? I needed a break from the big house anyways." Suddenly advancing towards Buffy, Faith flashed the young girl a cat like grin, watching as she backed up until she was pressed up against the side of a crypt. Suddenly slamming her hand up against the wall, Faith stared into Buffy's eyes, able to tell plain as day that there was something different about her, but she didn't know what it was. "You're different now, I can see it."

The thick tension swirled between the two girls as Buffy opened her mouth to retort, to deny and say that she was the same old girl Faith knew before she died, but she couldn't refute that something had changed within her, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to embrace it or run from it. "You may be right." Buffy mumbled, her eyes staying locked on Faith's. She couldn't deny the mixed feelings she felt towards her, and the longer she tried to keep them at bay, the more they threatened to break free. Suddenly, without even thinking about it, Buffy leaned forward and captured Faith's lips with her own, momentarily surprising the brunette but she was quick to return the unexpected kiss, grasping the side of Buffy's face firmly but gently.

"Wow B, I never knew you had it in ya." Faith breathed out in between kisses, one of her hands moving into Buffy's long hair, caressing it carefully while the other was wrapped around her waist, pulling the young girl closer and deepening the kiss. Buffy moaned against her, feeling a spark light up inside her that she hadn't felt in a long time.

She let out a sudden gasp as Faith roughly pushed her away, causing her to stumble and fall on one of the tombstones, breaking it in half as Faith jumped on top of her. Planting kisses down the column of her neck, Buffy closed her eyes as she allowed herself to get lost in the pleasure Faith was giving her. Every kiss was like a jolt of electricity shooting through her body, breathing new life into her that she didn't even know she needed. It was similar to the effect Spike had on her, but on a much grander scale. Her body craved Faith in a way it never did with Spike, and she was going to make sure she savored every moment of it.

Using her slayer strength, Buffy flipped both of them over, now with her on top as she straddled Faith, her hot breath tickling Faith's neck as she smirked up towards the blonde girl. "Who knew you liked it on top. Too bad you won't get to enjoy it for very long."

"Shut up." Buffy hissed, a playful grin crawling on her features as she leaned back in for another passionate kiss. Faith returned it with equal passion, figuring she would let the little slayer have her fun, for now. Her nimble fingers moved up and down Buffy's body, wanting to roam over every square inch of her gorgeous physique.

Breathing out heavily, the girls pull away after awhile, needing some much needed oxygen in their lungs before they took it any further. Laying on the now flattened grass, Buffy turned to look at Faith, and without even realizing it, cuddled up against her. Faith wasn't a cuddle person, at all, but she didn't pull away from Buffy. Instead, she lazily draped an arm around her head, kissing the top of it gently. "I really missed you, B."

Faith detested showing emotion to just about anyone, and years ago she would have never dreamed being this emotional in front of Buffy, but now, laying here next to her in the dark, feeling her body curled up in her embrace, it wasn't so bad. Buffy let out a small sigh, those sparks she felt still surging through her strongly, reminding her what it was like to be alive, to feel something again, and every time she looked at Faith, she felt at peace.

She felt at home.
