It had been a normal day for one Naruko Uzumaki, she'd gone to the academy and listened to her teacher's boring lessons, afterwords she went to Ichiraku's Ramen Shop for a few bowls of Ramen, she then went home and was now lying on her bed staring at her ceiling.

Her thoughts were depressing, as she lamented about her treatment in the village plus the knowledge that if she hadn't pretended to be a boy, she'd likely have been treated worse, especially by the opposite sex, she shivered at the thought of her maidenhood being forcefully taken from her.

The 10-year-old was broken from her thoughts by a subtle glow emanating from the back of her left hand, raising it she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion when her birthmark began to grow, as she was staring at it something leaped from her shadow and spoke to her.

"So, you're Link's latest incarnation?" The newcomer asked.

Naruko jumped off her bed and landed on her back, facing her intruder, "Who are you?" She demanded, pointing an accusing finger at the imp.

The imp ignored her question in favor of circling her, seemingly looking for something, "Why are you dressed like a boy?"

Naruko winced at that and looked down at the ground, "That's personal…" she mumbled, inadvertently pulling her knees to her chest and resting her head on them.

The imp seemed to feel guilty, "Sorry…" it mumbled.

Naruko shook her head, "You couldn't have known." She said, her knife-like ears then twitched at the sound of rustling. Glancing through her knees she saw the imp rustling through her wardrobe, tossing her baggy orange tracksuits onto the floor in a large pile.

"All you have is this tracksuit?" It asked, skeptically.

If possible Naruko shrunk deeper into her knees and mumbled something that the imp didn't hear. "What was that?" The imp inquired, her tone soft as she once again felt guilty for being so blunt and making the incarnation of Link feel sad.

"That's all I can buy." The 10-year-old mumbled slightly louder than before, but the imp was able to hear her that time.

"Oh…" the imp said, her eyes full of pity. It then clapped its hands audibly, simultaneously gaining her attention, "That won't do at all." She remarked, before looking at the girl, "Where do you buy your clothes and armor?" She inquired.

"Th-Theres a shop nearby… but they won't sell anything to me." The girl stuttered, mumbling the last bit into her knees.

"Why not?" She questioned and saw the girl deflate further.

"I-I don't know, grandpa tells me he doesn't know either." She whispered into her thighs, where her head had migrated to.

The imp brought one of its hands to its chin, "Hmm." It hummed before using its magic to sense the girl's power and frowned when she saw three separate sources, one being the girl's, a bright silver which was unique, the other a crimson red, and the last being faint, but still visible, it was a pale blue.

It briefly pondered over what it could be before deciding to look at the larger crimson aura that dwarfed the girl's silver. It located the source of it to a location on the girl's stomach, but it wasn't able to fully determine what caused it due to the clothing in the way.

"Raise your shirt, please." The imp asked, causing the girl to look up at her, clearly puzzled.

"Huh?" The girl questioned.

"There's a large source of magic located on your stomach, I want to see what it is." The imp explained.

"Oh… okay…" the girl replied, still confused but complied with the odd request, leaning off of her knees and lifting her shirt till the fold touched the base of her barely budded chest, revealing her pale skinned stomach.

The imp flew a little closer and began to stare intently at her stomach, making the girl squirm uncomfortably, the imp seemed satisfied, nodding to itself and gliding back some. "Let's take care of your little tenant before we move on to other thing's." She remarked, before poking the stumped girls forehead and in a blink of an eye they found themselves in a dark location.

Using its magic to create a bit of light, the imp and Naruko saw a large room with strange designs on the walls, Naruko couldn't make sense of them, but they felt oddly familiar. She glanced at the imp and found a small smile on its face, as if it recognized the designs.

"Not surprising to see Hylian architecture in your mindscape." The imp commented, confusing Naruko even further.

"Who's there?" A deep but distinctly feminine voice demanded.

The imp turned to the newcomer, which appeared as a large 9-tailed fox and her eyes narrowed, "So, your the thing that holds all the magic I was sensing before?" It questioned.

The fox rose a furry eyebrow, "Magic? I haven't heard that term in a few centuries."

"It's been how long?" The imp asked in shock, it's jaw nearly on the floor.

"About nine I believe." The fox supplied. "But forget about that, what are you doing here?" It asked, glaring at the imp, the glare softened when it turned to Naruko. "Oh, you brought her with you?" A sad look entered the fox's eyes, "Before this continues, I want to apologize to you." It said looking at Naruko, who took a half step back.

"Whaa?" Was Naruko's intelligent reply.

The fox blinked, "Are you stupid?" It bluntly asked.

A tickmark formed on Naruko's brow, "No! I'm not! It's just…" the girl trailed off, looking at the ground, "No one wants to teach me anything, and it doesn't help that everything is happening fast… I'm still trying to catch up to all that's happened in the last few minutes."

This statement made both beings in front of her feel guilty, one for barging in out of nowhere and not explaining things properly while demanding things, the other for the pain and misery it had inadvertently caused the girl.

"I'm sorry." The pair said in unison, causing the girl to look up, tears forming in her eyes.

"There it is again, that's twice today someone's said sorry to me… no one's said that to me in the last month." Naruko was thoroughly stumped at why these two were apologizing to her.

This, however, only made the two feel worse. After a pause, the fox cleared its throat, "Anyway, back to the main topic. What are you doing here?" It asked.

This also brought the imp from its funk, "Oh…I was curious about the power I was sensing from the girl that wasn't her own and I found you."

The fox nodded, "I see, what do you intend to do now that you've found me?" It asked, prepared to fight if necessary.

The imp only shrugged, "I don't know, if you'd had been evil I'd probably would have destroyed you… but you don't seem to be, however…" She said in a serious tone, immediately putting the fox on edge. "You can't remain inside of her as she won't be able to properly grow by herself of you remain."

The fox tensed, "What are you getting at?" It asked.

"I suggest we remove you from this place and set you free, but you won't be entirely free as death himself has linked your souls meaning that you can't be fully separated as well as Naruko won't die as you remain alive."

The fox blinked, as it hadn't considered that option, "Wait, you mean her lifespan is the same as mine?" It got a confirmative nod, "But I'm immortal!" The fox shouted.

"Yes, and so is Naruko meaning she is the latest as well as last incarnation of Link to exist."

"Wait!" A quiet voice echoed throughout the room, instantly gaining the pair's attention. "You mean I can't die?" Naruko asked in a chillingly quiet tone.

"Erm.. yeah." The imp answered slightly unnerved at the tone.

"I see…" Naruko said, looking up, causing both beings to recoil at the dead look in her eyes. "That's why I've never died after the villagers' more brutal beatings."

The imp and fox looked at one another and an understanding passed between them, they'd no longer allow people to harm the girl. But the first step is to get her away from her abusers so she can properly heal.

"Naruko…" The fox began, gaining the girl's attention, "What is your dream?" She asked.

"That's simple, to protect those I care about!" She declared, life once again entering her eyes.

"I see, who do you care about right now?" The fox asked.

"Well… There's Grandpa, Ayame, and Teuchi… that's all." She said, sounding depressed at the end.

"I see, and who is your grandpa?" The fox asked.

"He's the third Hokage." She answered.

"Okay, has he told you who your parents are?" It asked, the fox really hated doing this, but she has to break the girl's trust of the Hokage, who was probably using her to be the weapon of the village, even if by chance he didn't realize it himself.

The girl lowered her head and shook it slowly, "No… he said they died as heroes but he didn't know who they were."

The fox nodded, expecting that answer. "Well, I know who they were. Want me to tell you?" It felt disgusted with itself for praying on the girl's feelings Ike this, but the fox didn't know another way to get the girl to leave the village willingly.

"Who were they!" The girl shouted desperately.

"I'll tell you if you hear me out about an idea I have" The girl's head nodded so fast the fox thought it would fall off, "I want you to leave the village."

"What!" Naruko shouted in panic.

The fox simply raised its paw, "I said hear me out… I didn't mean permanently, only for six or seven years and if you want to by then you can return."

The girl crossed her arms in thought, and looked ti the floor, "I'll accept, however, will you both at least tell me your names?" She said before adding hastily, "...and tell me who my parents were!"

The duo of magical beings blinked in sync, before looking at one another. "Did we really never introduce ourselves?" The fox asked the imp.

"I don't think we did." The imp responded before turning to Naruko. "I'm Midna."

"I'm Kurami." The fox replied.

Naruko nodded, a slight smile on her face, before it vanished, replaced by a frown a pleading look in her eyes. "Who were my parents?" She questioned, her full attention on Kurami.

"Your mother was Kushina Uzumaki, and your father… was Minato Namikaze…" she said, before mentally preparing for the outburst… that never came. Looking at the girl she flinched when she saw the angry scowl that mared the young girl's face.

"He lied to me?" She asked in a whisper.

"Huh?" Midna asked, not fully aware of who she was referring.

"The Hokage lied to me… he knew who my parents were… hell he picked my father to be his successor." She raged, throwing her hands up in the air and stomping her foot.

The girl continued ranting for a full 20 minutes before she finally calmed down. She looked at Midna and Kurami, "How do I leave the village without being noticed?" She asked.

"That's simple…" Kurami started, gaining the two's attention, "I'll give you the fox summoning contract and you can have them reverse summon you, then re-summon you somewhere outside of fire country."

"Huh… where should we go?" Naruko asked, looking at her two new potential friends… friends… she'd never had one of those before.

"I'm not sure, we'd have to send some foxes to spy on each country to find the one most suitable, with the least dangers." Kurami answered.

"What do we do in the meantime?" Naruko asked.

"Train of course, we have to get you up to snuff as this village has been hampering your growth." Midna said.

"Yes, we'll take you to the summoning realm of the foxes for a while then when we find somewhere to settle down we'll train you for 5 or 6 years, and if you wish to return to Konoha by then we will." Kurami added.

"Okay, I'm ready." Naruko said, determined.

"Good, now before you leave your mindscape I wanna teach you the Shadow Clone Technique." Kurami said, before showing her the hand sign. "When you leave the mindscape make that hand sign and spit your chakra evenly and you'll summon a clone of you. Then have it henge into a girl around your age and send her to buy you some sealing scrolls."

Naruko nodded, "How do I get the summoning contract for the foxes?" She asked.

"Oh right…" Kurami said, and a scroll materialized in front of her, "This is what it looks like, you won't be able to sign it using this as we're in your mindscape, but I know where it's located in the real world."

"Where is it?" Naruko asked.

"In a cave on the outskirts of Konoha, I had one of my clan hide it there centuries ago, long before Konoha was even established." Kurami explained.

"So, I should send a Shadow Clone to fetch it?" Naruko asked.

Kurami nodded, "Yes, and once the clone returns we can get out of this village."

Midna chimed in, "We also need to get you some new clothes."

Naruko looked down at her orange tracksuit, "What should I buy?" She asked since she'd never actually shopped for clothes, these tracksuits were the first thing the shopkeeper gave her when she went shopping.

A mischievous smirk crossed Midna's lips and she said, "I have an idea of what you can wear." Naruko tilted her head like a confused fox, before she was assaulted with the image of a blonde-haired teen wearing a green tunic, a white shirt under it, what appeared to be dark tan tights, brown knee-high boots, and brown fingerless gloves with brown gauntlets attached to them, a long green cap adorned his head, flowing down to the middle of his back.

Naruko didn't know why, but she felt like a deep part of her soul had surfaced, and she stared in awe at the outfit, "It's so cool!" She chirped happily.

Minda smiled, glad to know that Link's reincarnations' love of this outfit hadn't diminished over centuries. "We'll probably have to have this custom made though, so we'd need some money."

"That should be easy…" Kurami said, gaining the two's attention, "Now that Naruko knows who her parents are, she can claim her inheritance and inform the Hokage of her leaving."

"Good idea, when she gets the summoning contract, we'll have them prepare to reverse summon her and go to the Hokage in person, get her inheritance and scrolls, explain her leaving, and vanish before the old man can properly react." Midna said.

"Plus, the shock of the whole event will momentarily stun the man, making it easier." Kurami added.

"Well, let's begin." Midna said, gesturing for Naruko to leave the mindscape.

Hiruzen Sarutobi sat behind his desk doing paperwork, idly wondering where Naruko was, she'd normally have kicked his door in by this time to greet him. He was broken from his thoughts when she did just that… 'Speak of the devil.' He thought, chuckling externally.

"Old man…" Naruko said, her tone the most serious he'd ever heard from the girl, instantly worrying him.

"Yes, Naruto?" He asked, using the version of her name she preferred to be called out loud.

"When were you going to tell me?" She asked, confusing him.

"Tell you what?" He asked.

"Who my parents were!" She shouted, finally looking up since she entered the room, and the glare the girl sported made him visibly recoil.

'How'd she find out?' He asked himself, 'I can't lie to her again, or all trust she'd have in me would vanish.' He finally sighed, "I'm sorry…" he began.

"No, you're not!" She exclaimed, "But I don't care if you are! Cause I'm leaving this village and I don't know if I'll come back." She said, coldly.

Hiruzen's mind shut down, 'She's leaving? How do I make her stay? She's not a ninja of this village so I have no jurisdiction over her and the council wouldn't stop her from leaving since most of them want her gone!'

He was broken for his panicked thoughts when Naruko said, "I want my inheritance, which means both my mom and dad's money along with their scrolls containing their techniques."

Hiruzen didn't know what to do, she was the clan head of both clans since she wasn't a Shinobi the ranking system couldn't be applied to her, not to mention that if she left Konoha as a civilian with the intention of joining another village he can't give her her inheritance.

"Old man!" I'm waiting!" Naruko's voice hit his ear.

Gathering himself, he said, "Why are you leaving Konoha?" He needed to know why in the hopes of fixing it.

"Why should I stay?" Was her immediate reply, instantly shutting down his question, as he didn't have an answer to that.

Letting loose a deep sigh, he leaned back in his chair and decided to see how thought out her plan to leave was. "Where will you go? If you plan to head to another village I can't give you your inheritance." He watched her eyes narrow.

"I haven't decided yet, but I have no intentions of joining another village."

He hummed, I can use that to convince her to stay, "Naruto, it's dangerous out there, you won't survive alone."

"Just give me my inheritance, Lord Hokage…" she said quietly, and with that Hiruzen realized he'd lost all her respect and any further effort to keep her here would only make things worse.

"Can I at least send a guardian with you?" He asked, feeling dejected.

"No, I already have one." She said cryptically.

"Who?" He asked, thinking the girl was being manipulated.

"None of your concern, Lord Hokage." She spat out, clearly growing impatient… "Just give me my inheritance!" She exclaimed.

Hiruzen had opened his mouth to speak again, but it snapped shut with an audible snap, placing his hands on his face he pulled them down his face and looked at the girl.

"Fine…" he said, finally relenting, "On one condition." He said, continuing when she looked up at him, "You must return in 2 years to graduate from the academy."

"I refuse, if anything, I'll return in 5 or 6 years." She said, glaring at him.

Hiruzen didn't like it, but he figured it was the best he'd get, "Fine, I'll set up a special exam when the time comes to make you a chunin if you prove your fit for the role."

"That's fine, Lord Hokage, now please give me my inheritance."

Hiruzen reluctantly got up and approached the hidden safe on the wall took out her inheritance, and handed it to the girl.

"Thank you, Lord Hokage." She said, before disappearing in a puff of smoke.

"Shadow clone? No, the scrolls are gone, that was a reverse summoning. But when did she get a summoning contract?" He mused out loud.

"He was trying to keep me in the village even if I said I didn't want to…" Naruko said, sitting across from Midna and the recently released Kurami, even though they were linked via their souls she doesn't have to remain inside the seal as long as a link of her chakra is being sent to Naruko to keep the link strong.

"It seems he really does see you as the weapon of the village." Midna said.

"So, do you plan on returning?" Kurami asked.

"I don't know, I'll wait until I'm older and decide then." Naruko said.

"That's wise." Midna said before a serious look crossed her face, "It's time to begin your training." She said, a mischievous grin on her lips.

Naruko felt a shiver run up her spine…

(A/N) I know adding another story to my long list of stories is foolish, but I found myself slowly adding to this idea in between writing chapters for the other ones and eventually it got long enough to post a 1st chapter so I decided to go for it and see if you guys like it. Once again, it's been a while since I have watched/played Twilight Princess, and seeing as I don't have a copy currently I plan to binge a playthrough on YouTube to refresh my memory on the enemies and bosses.

Let me know if I need to fix anything character-wise as I could have unintentionally botched their personalities. Anyway, hope you enjoy... Love Ya!
