I do not own the Boy/Girl Battle Series or these characters.
Caroline and Wally are in 9th grade. I'll let you do the math.
They didn't- they wouldn't- Wally thought. But how's did everyone know? Did Caroline know too? No! Not like this! Wally trudged out of lunch, making sure to tail Beth. He pulled her over to the side.
"How does everyone know?" Wally asked.
"What?" said a surprised Beth.
"Tell me." Wally said sternly.
"Dude, don't be paranoid." Beth said dismissively.
"That's my entire personality." Wally pointed out.
Beth laughed. "So, don't worry, you worry wart."
Wally looked at Beth's demeanor for any hint that she was lying.
"Why're you laughing so much?" Wally asked.
"That's my personality." Beth declared, walking away.
But it wasn't. Wally knew that as she walked off.
"What's going on with you guys? You're acting so weird." Caroline asked her sister.
"Nothing!" Beth and Eddie said at the exact same time. Caroline, however, could understand their language. The shifting of the eyes, the immense smiles, even the giggling. Her sisters never giggled, not once in their lives. Something was making them giddy and Caroline was going to find out, one way or another.
"They're acting weird." Caroline said to Wally as she sat down in her chair beside him. They were in math class, watching as Bill took a few extra seconds to talk to his and Wally's brothers.
"Yeah, they're planning something, and I have a feeling it's going to be hit towards us." Wally said. Caroline looked at him. She always liked the way he said things, plain and simple, but confusing and complex, all at the same time. He'd carefully chose his words to make it sound the best way possible. It's one of the main reasons she liked him.
"Yeah, it's not a good feeling. Especially since it's what, 10-2?" Caroline said, crinkling her nose. Wally chuckled lightly. She looks so cute when she does that, thought Wally.
Bill took his seat in front of Caroline as she bare holes into the back of his neck. She discreetly turned to Wally holding a note.
Bill came over to my house last night for some strange reason.
Wally wrote back, Why?
Homework help, he said Caroline wrote.
Wally looked at her with a confused expression. Caroline shrugged her shoulders. That was the end of the note passing as they were paying attention to class.
As Wally worked on the assignment, his mind couldn't help but wander to what Caroline told him. Is that why Bill was acting so weird?
"Bill!" Wally shouted. He started off towards his friend, running.
"What?" Bill asked, annoyed.
"What were you doing at Caroline's house yesterday?" Wally asked.
"Well maybe if you'd make a move quicker-"
"Bill, that's not cool! You know how I feel!" Wally exclaimed, exasperated.
"Hey, you bring this on yourself." Bill replied. Wally groaned as he watched his friend disappear over the swinging foot bridge.
During the weekend
Caroline was brimming with excitement. She had been waiting for this weekend. Not only was it Thanksgiving break, but she and her sisters would be seeing their bestest of friends again, the Lasheès. Felicia, Camilla, Lana, and Lily Lasheè, the friends they left back in Ohio, would be joining the Malloys, Hatfords, and Bensons to see the new Marvel movie.
Caroline got dressed into a white crop top with a high rise pink skirt with nylon tights. She put on some black boots with heels. Caroline decided to curl her hair slightly and put a headband on. As she left her room, she noticed her sisters' apparels. Eddie and Beth were both wearing sweatpants, Eddie with an athletic shirt on top, Beth wearing a plain hoodie. Eddie was wearing her trusty Vans and Beth was wearing her Converse.
"Oh c'mon guys!" Caroline whined. "Can't you at least try to look good tonight!"
"No." Eddie said, putting her hair up into a high pony. "We're meeting up with friends and the guys. What's the point of dressing up?"
"Don't feel like it. Besides we're also going to be going to Grandma's after. It's going to be cold." Beth reasoned.
Eddie looked over and saw what her youngest sister was wearing. "Go put on a sweater. You're not leaving like that."
"No." Caroline puffed out her cheeks and folded her arms.
"Now." Eddie warned.
"I said no!"
"Beth hold her down." Eddie grabbed Caroline and dragged her back to her room. Beth quickly grabbed her younger sister as Eddie looked through Caroline's closet, found a sweater and threw it at her sister.
"Meanie." Caroline muttered. Eddie walked over and shut the door.
"Now." She said.
Caroline grumbled. "Fine." Caroline took off her crop top and put on the sweater. Luckily it was a pretty sweater, white like her original shirt, but softer. It had peach colored lines across it and Caroline was grateful for the warmth.
At the movies
"Bethie!!!!" Squealed a voice, tackled Beth in a dash of red, and hugged the life out of her.
"Hey Cam." Beth said. "Ow ow ow, you're hurting me."
"Oh sorry sorry sorry! I'm just so excited to see you!" Camilla Lasheè said to her best friend.
"Where are your sisters and parents?" Eddie asked.
"Oh all the way down there!" Camilla said nonchalantly. "I ran up here to see you guys." Eddie smiled, shaking her head. As the rest of the Lasheè family came up to where they were, Caroline dashed to her friends, Lana and Lily. She engulfed them in a bear hug, careful not to break Lana's camera. The two girls hugged her back. Caroline broke away from the hug and gasped.
"Your hair!" She said. Lana and Lily's hair were now their true color, strawberry blond. However, Lana's hair seemed tinted purple and Lily's seemed tinted pink. Lana still had purple highlights at the bottom of her hair and it'd been curled. Lily had pink highlights streamed throughout her hair from top to bottom, and her two front strands of hair were dyed a even lighter blonde than her natural hair.
"Yeah," said Lana shyly. "Recently, we just tried dying our hair a new way."
"It looks ah-maze-ing!" Caroline said, emphasizing on the syllables. Lily smiled.
"Let's join the others!"
"Hey Fi," Eddie said to her friend. "How're ya?"
"Good Eds." She replied with a warm smile.
"These are your friends?" Jake asked with a broad smile.
"Yeah, you got a problem with it?" Eddie asked slightly holding up her fist.
"No," Jake said, holding up his hands.
"And what those two, dating?" Tony asked, gesturing to Beth and Camilla. Camilla had her arms wrapped around Beth's waist from behind, her head resting on Beth's shoulder. Josh visibly winced at Tony's words.
"Duh, Bethie's my pookie!" Camilla declared.
"Okaaaay." Steve said.
"Eddie, Beth, lookit!" Caroline called. Her two sisters turned and gaped at Lana and Lily's hair.
"Oh it looks so cute!" Beth gushed. She ran over, pulling Camilla off of her.
Eddie smiled. "Looks good on you guys." Wally turned to look at the other guys. Steve didn't even seem like he was looking at the obvious twin girls. Neither did Tony. And definitely not Jake and Josh. No, they weren't. But Bill and Danny definitely were. Bill's mouth was slightly agape, almost unnoticeable. Danny pressed his lips tightly together. Wally, Bill, and Danny made eye contact, and Bill and Danny quickly looked away from Wally. Wally smirked.
"Let's go in now," Lana said.
"Hold up. Wallace." Beth said. Wally looked at Beth. "Do you know any of these girls names?"
Wally shrugged. "Not really, why?"
"Ok, the oldest is Felicia." Beth said. The girl with dark hair put up into a high bun waved. She was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, and Converse.
"This gremlin is Camilla." Beth continued. Camilla was wearing a tight red dress with a white cardigan, black tights, and white Nikes.
"The one in purple is Lana, and the one in pink is Lily." Beth finished. Lana waved and so did Lily.
"Why'd you just ask Wally?" Jake asked annoyed.
"'Cause if Wally knew, he could tell the rest of you dimwits who was who." Beth explained without apology.
"By the way, the dumbos from oldest to youngest are Steve, Jake, Josh, Tony, Wally, Bill, Danny, Peter, and Doug." Caroline said, gesturing to each boy.
"Ok, now that we're all aquatinted, let's go!" Beth shouted. They headed off to the movie theater.
"Remember guys, my number two rules, don't have lice, and don't get hit by cars." Beth said proudly.
"Whatever." Jake muttered.
(Nothing happens during the movie except them just watching it so time skip)
After the movie
"That was fun." Lily said, with emphasis on fun.
"What was everyone's favorite part?" Beth asked.
"The cats!" Everyone said in unison. (Iykyk) (If you saw the Marvels movie)
Eddie chuckled. "Now who's ready for the even more fun part?"
"What's that?" Josh asked.
"Grandma's house!" The Malloy girls exclaimed.
The kids got on the escalator going down in almost complete silence. That is, until, Wally spoke up.
"What happens when you fall on an escalator? Like how bad are the injuries?"
"That's what I always think!" Beth exclaimed.
"Dude, when do you see a person fall on an escalator?" Bill asked.
"Well, I suppose when your shoe gets stuck-" Beth wondered aloud.
"Then you'd be stuck, you wouldn't fall." Wally said.
"Can someone get eaten by an escalator?" Beth asked.
"Well when your shoelace gets stuck, you might lose you shoe-" Camilla added.
"Guys! Stop talking about dying on an escalator!" Eddie, Jake, Tony, Steve, Felicia and Josh exclaimed.
"Is this some kind of middle kid syndrome?" Danny asked hesitantly.
"I think the escalator would stop if someone gets stuck. So they wouldn't die or fall off or get eaten by the escalator." Mr. Hatford piped up. All the other parents were trying their best not to crack up.
"Dad?" Peter asked. "What-?"
"I'm a middle child too." Mr. Hatford said. A smile tugged on Caroline's face. The smile turned to a chuckle, a chuckle to a giggle, the giggle to a laugh. Soon everyone was laughing with her.
Over the river and through the woods; to Grandmothers house we go
"Grandmaaaa!" Caroline cried as she left the Malloys car. She ran up to the woman standing at the door frame and engulfed her in a bear hug.
"I'm so happy you girls are here! We're going to have fun!"
See you guys in the next chapter!
