First Casualties

Six officers stood before the Saiyans, the Sergeant yelled out, "Open Fire!" Each officer fired off three ki blasts at the Saiyan's only for both Saiyan's to disappear from view. Both volleys hit their pods but surprisingly took no damage. The officers on the ground looked left and right but before they could find him Raditz reappeared behind them. "Where are you looking?" says Raditz half-jokingly while he kicked the Lieutenant several yards into a building. Before the other two officers could turn around Raditz yelled, "Double Sunday!" He then thrusted both of his arms forward with his palms open.

Two purple ki waves were fired from his palms hitting both officers vaporizing both combatants in an instant. Regardless of the dead officers the beam continued until they hit solid ground and a building creating two large explosions which destroyed a highway and three other buildings. At the exact same time as the Raditz fight, Kakarot reappeared to the right of his position with his arms still crossed. He said, "Eyes over here." The sergeant and the other two officers looked his way. "Let's get started." Kakarot placed his arms in front of him, balled his hands into fists and leaned forward as he bent his knees, he let out a short yell. "Haa!"

His muscles bulged out slightly as a purple aura enveloped his body before disappearing. Kakarot then flew forward, his right fist outstretched in front of him while he reeled back his left fist, preparing to strike one of the officers the second they got in range. The sergeant barked some orders to his subordinates, "Follow me but only act when I give the signal!" The three charge Kakarot head on. Kakarot was just about within arm's reach of the sergeant when the sergeant circled around to Kakarot's right and fired off a quick ki blast. Kakarot swiftly deflected it to his left, but the sergeant immediately aimed a punch for his stomach.

Unexpectedly Kakarot caught his fist with is left arm, which is when the sergeant, in the matter of three seconds, release his grip on the trigger of his ki cannon, tilts the trigger to the right freeing space for his hand, push the nose of his Ki cannon against his other arm pushing it further down his cannon arm and then grab Kakarot's hand locking him in place. He suddenly yelled, "Go for his free arm!" Suddenly the device on Kakarot's face comes to life pointing an arrow to his right. One officer appears at Kakarot's right side, coming from behind him. Kakarot acts without hesitation and with surprising flexibility manages to connect his right fist past the officer's jaw jerking his head to the right.

For two seconds the officer doesn't react, seemingly stunned from the blow but he suddenly springs to life, blood dripping from his chin. Without hesitation he takes both of his arms and wraps them around Kakarot's free arm, tightens them and pulls his arm behind him, locking it there by pressing both of his feet against his back and pulling hard on his right arm. Kakarot lets out a strained grunt. In this moment of confusion, the sergeant did the exact same maneuver, locking Kakarot's arms behind his back and tightening his grip with all of his strength.

The sergeant then yelled, "Now's your chance!" The last officer appeared in front of Kakarot and began throwing a barrage of punches and kicks at Kakarot aiming for the sides of his ribs, his chest, his stomach and his face. Raditz on the ground below, having already dispatched his opponents, is watching Kakarot struggle from below. For a second, he looks worried but then he presses a button on the side of his Scouter and his face drops. He lets out a quiet sigh and says to himself, "He still hasn't kicked that habit." Raditz then pressed another button on his Scouter and said, "Do you want any help?" Speaking to Kakarot through the speaker in his own Scouter he hears Raditz question.

Kakarot, through pained grunts from each blow from the officer, tells his brother, "Hell–argh–no. This is–aargh–just getting good!" The officer catches what Kakarot said and realizes he's communicating with someone. He stops and looks down at Raditz, "D-did he get them!" Raditz flashes the man an amused grin and says in a raised voice, "Come down here and you can find out!" Raditz does a back-and-forth motion with his right hand aimed at the officer in the air. Kakarot grits his teeth and yells, "No, hey! The hell are you doing dropping yer' guard for?!" The officer immediately turned around only for Kakarot to head butt him so hard he lost focus and began to fall to the ground.

The sergeant yelled out in anguish, "No!" Kakarot ignored him and yelled down at Raditz, "Don't you dare interrupt my fight! I hadn't had a good beatin' since that desert world a month ago." The sergeant gave Kakarot a look of revulsion which Kakarot scoffed at saying, "Don't look at me like that, I hadn't had a real fight in a while." Raditz spoke to Kakarot through his Scouter again but with a playful tone, "Kakarot if you don't get a move on, I might blow this poor fool away before he can even hit the ground." Raditz aims an open palm at the officer as he slowly falls to the ground desperately trying to get enough control back to stop his descent.

Raditz fires a basic purple Ki Wave at the falling officer. Kakarot suddenly yells, "Don't you dare!" Suddenly Kakarot lets out a short yell, "Haaa!" Kakarot creates a shockwave with his Ki knocking the two restraining him several feet away. Kakarot immediately disappears and reappears between the Ki wave Raditz fired and the falling officer who just then manages to stop his descent. Kakarot stops the blast with one hand not even being pushed back by the attack.

Kakarot then presses a button on his Scouter while rolling his left and then right arm in circles to loosen them and speaks to Raditz through his Scouter, "I know ya' like messin' with me but back off." Raditz chuckles and says, "Fine, fine." Suddenly both of their Scouters lit up, an arrow on Raditz Scouter pointed to his left drawing his eye that way. Kakarot then said, "Besides, you ain't done yet."

Raditz faced the building he kicked the Lieutenant into and saw him limp out of it clearly shaken from the blow Raditz gave him. Raditz said, "You know, it would have been easier if you had just played dead. It wouldn't have saved you, but it at least would have been less painful." The Lieutenant let out a fierce cough before speaking through panted breath, "You…huff…bastard! You won't…arch…get away with this!" His back was in bad shape, but he was working through the pain.

The Lieutenant takes another step forward after which Raditz grumbles and shakes his head, "And he only has a measly 150, what a waste of time." Suddenly the Lieutenant takes a deep breath and then powers up flashing a light blue aura before charging at Raditz at full speed. While Raditz is dealing with the Lieutenant below, Kakarot deals with the officers in the air. Kakarot places his right open palm in front of the wounded officer and fires a Kiai Blast, a Ki based technique where you use your ki to create a shockwave which is more effective at sending your opponent flying rather than directly damaging them like a standard Ki blast.

The shockwave knocks the officer toward his allies, the sergeant catches him and holds him up allowing the officer time to recover. "Are you alright?" says the sergeant and the officer replies with, "I'm fine sir, my head's just spinning." While the officer confirms his status, Kakarot flies up to them, stopping when he reaches the same altitude as them. Kakarot begins to roll his right shoulder attempting to loosen it. As he does this, the officers realize something horrifying. The officer with the damaged jaw says through a panicked stutter, "S-somethings not right." They looked on as Kakarot nonchalantly checked his arms. The sergeant sets his Ki cannon up, preparing it for another engagement with the Saiyan.

"W-we restrained him and spent a solid t-two minutes beating on him b-but… b-but…" The officer couldn't will himself to finish the sentence so the sergeant finished for him, "I thought with how easily we were able to hold him still we may have a chance but there isn't even a scratch on him!" Kakarot, having finished checking his arms said, "As much as I'd like ta' go another two or three rounds, I might get in serious trouble if I keep dragging my feet. Kakarot locks eyes with the sergeant and says, "I'll make this quick." Suddenly the air around Kakarot began to be pushed away from him in all directions. Raditz murmured to himself, "He's finally taking this seriously."

The sergeant and his officers barely registered that Kakarot had disappeared and before they knew it, one of them was already dead. The sergeant heard a scream and looked behind him. Kakarot was behind him with an open palm having fired a Ki wave at the officer with the bloody jaw. Kakarot immediately turned around aiming a palm at them. In the sergeant's perspective time had slowed down, his life was flashing before his eyes. He only had time to do one thing, he fired a Kiai blast at his wounded Officer, sending him flying out of the way of the blast. The Sergeant didn't have time to dodge however and was killed by it.

The wounded officer looked on in horror as his superior was killed saving him. After gaining enough control to stop his descent his gaze drifted down and saw the other alien, Raditz, who was stepping on the dead Lieutenant. All sense of hope, of chance for victory left him at that moment. He peered behind him and saw Kakarot standing before him with a grim look on his face. He began to reach for the officer when suddenly he was hit with a steady stream of Ki blasts forcing him to turn around and using one hand to block the blasts from hitting his face while he used his other arm to block his chest pointed horizontally.

Kakarot descended while the volley followed him, not stopping for anything. The surviving officer looked on and saw two Prune Defense Force soldiers heading his way. They grabbed him and while they were taking him away from the battle zone he spoke in a weak voice, "How did you know we were in trouble?" One soldier only said, "We'll tell you when we get out of here." They soon left the city and flew further and further away. Back with Kakarot he was now on the ground and being overwhelmed with that volley. He muttered under his breath, "These ain't all that powerful however." Kakarot suddenly screamed out creating a Ki barrier, "Their damn annoying!"

After a few seconds of sustained fire, it stopped. Raditz suddenly appeared next to Kakarot. They both looked up at the enemy reinforcements. They saw a group of eight soldiers with more advanced armor than their previous combatants had. These new soldiers wore white and black body armor that covered them head to toe. The whole squad was in a strange formation with half of them seemingly latched to the other half. Half of the squad were armed with Ki Cannon's, much more advanced looking than the one the sergeant had on. These Cannons were slotted into the shoulder pads that the other half of the squad were wearing. The pads seemed specifically made so that this combination was possible.

The "Cannon-men" would use the "Shield-men" as a floating mount to allow them to focus their cannons on an enemy. Kakarot and Raditz, without saying a word to each other both fired a barrage of one-handed Ki blasts at the Squad. The Cannon-men immediately detached themselves from the shoulder pads of the Shield-men and crouched behind them. The Shield-men suddenly stood upright and placed their open palms in front of them while yelling out loud in unison, "Haaa!" Suddenly the whole squad was covered in a large blue Ki barrier which stood strong even under the Saiyan Brothers barrage.

After a few seconds the barrage stopped and there was a short pause in the fighting. They were at a bit of a stalemate, neither side could seemingly cause any damage to the other. With a pause in the fighting the Saiyans were able to get a full view of the soldiers and their armor. The design of the Shield-men's pads looked metallic and the armor had the emblem of a black colored tree on their chest and right shoulder, the words "Prune Defense Force" printed below it.

The Cannon-men did not have any shoulder pads and instead wore helmets with some sort of device installed into it that had a small visor that covered one eye. Their equivalent to the Freeza Empire Scouters no doubt which was troubling. Raditz thought to himself, "How do they have such advanced equipment? We were told they only had gen four armor, typical for a backwater world like this. Instead, they are wearing something much more advanced, I don't even recognize these models." On the dominant hand of the Cannon-men was the Ki Cannon's mentioned earlier. They were black and were attached to their arm which completely covered their hands unlike the sergeants which was seemingly removable.

There was however a metallic mechanism that seemed to be what would separate their arm with their cannon in case of an emergency. These mechanisms seem more permanent than the model from the sergeant so removing them might not be a valid option for them. Kakarot began to go over his options. Kakarot noted that close combat shouldn't be a problem, each of them had a power level of 500 and while that is impressive compared to their previous foes it isn't anywhere near strong enough to defend themselves from his or his brothers' attacks. The shield on the other hand is another story.

Raditz side-eyed his brother and spoke in a low accusatory tone, "Kakarot…" Kakarot, not particularly caring for what his brother was about to say, side eyed him back. "You better not be holding back." Kakarot looked at his brother with surprise and then agitation, "Of course I wasn't, I gave it everything I had!" Raditz then said while pointing at them, "Then why aren't they dead? They have power levels of 500, they should be scattered by now!" Kakarot faced his body toward the squad while keeping his face toward Raditz. Kakarot said, "It's not me." he then crossed his arms and looked at the squad saying, "I think it's their tech. It isn't normal, my blasts should have broken their barrier but as you can see it hasn't even been scratched."

Raditz grumbled saying, "Yeah, their tech has caught my eye already." Raditz with his arms crossed, said while looking at Kakarot, "Do you recognize their gear?" Kakarot shook his head and said, "If you don't recognize it then there's no way I'll know what it is." Raditz re-checked their power level, but it still read 500. Raditz thought to himself, "Their barrier obviously isn't normal if our Scouters can't detect them." Kakarot thought to himself, "I might be able to brute force my way past it but who knows if that'll wear me out, can't go and drain myself otherwise I'll miss out on the rest of the mission."

Kakarot was stumped but an idea popped into Raditz's head, but he felt hesitant to share it with Kakarot. "Knowing him he'll reject the plan on principle but given our current situation maybe he'll be reasonable." Raditz closed his eyes, cleared his head and took a deep breath before letting it out. "I have an idea." Says Raditz with a clear tone. Kakarot looked at his brother and said, "I'm listening." After explaining the plan Kakarot vehemently rejected it saying, "Hell no!" Raditz argued, "It can't be that bad, you won't even be the one doing it!" Kakarot looked away from his brother and said, "There ain't no way I'm taking part in such a cowardly plot." Raditz balled up his fists and said angrily, "Then what's your plan?" Kakarot remained silent, unable to give a response.

Raditz let out an exasperated sigh and said, "If we don't get this over with then Vegeta won't be pleased with us being slowed down by your stubborn attitude… again!" Kakarot grumbles for a moment and then looks at Kakarot and then the squad and then back at Raditz. He finally said, "Fine, but next time we do it my way!" Raditz let out another sigh and said, "Deal." The soldiers watched on, wanting the Saiyans to make the first move. They were well aware they were powerful, so they chose to take a more cautious strategy.

They planned to wear them down with a massive counterattack. This is when the Saiyans suddenly flew into the air at high speeds though the squad was able to track them and follow them. The Saiyans stopped high above the squad with Kakarot firing a strong Ki wave with both of his hands. The barrier remained up but the blast was starting to push them closer to the ground. This is when one soldier noticed something, "Where's the long haired one?" They realized Raditz was missing, which is when they looked behind them to see Raditz standing on the ground directly below them. The same ground they were falling toward thanks to Kakarot's attack. Raditz held a large pink Ki blast above his head with one hand, it was crackling with lighting. Raditz said, "This is how a real warrior fights, Saturday Crush!"

Raditz threw the Ki blast at the back of the formation ending in a large explosion after which Raditz dashes to his right avoiding the Ki wave that barroled through the formation after their Ki barrier dissolved. The entire squad was annihilated leaving only two survivors who couldn't even stand up, instead they slowly crawled away from the crater Kakarot made which was now full of their fallen comrades. Raditz appeared in the area and stood over a wounded soldier. He gave them a swift kick to the head, killing them. Kakarot fired a ki blast killing the last soldier as he dropped down next to Raditz.

Raditz looked satisfied since his plan went off without a hitch. Kakarot went over the plan in his head, Kakarot was to go above and hit them head on with a Ki wave strong enough to push them down toward the ground. Using his blinding speed Raditz would outflank them and as they get closer to the ground hit them with a powerful attack while their back is turned. Raditz's attack would do enough damage to take out the Shield-men while Kakarot's attack would finish off the rest. Kakarot scowled at the thought, "A Saiyan doesn't need to rely on surprise attacks, back shots are fine but this plan…" Kakarot spoke in a low, barely audible voice. Kakarot let out an agitated grunt. Raditz's smile dropped as he put a hand on Kakarot's shoulder only for him to shake it off.

Kakarot just said, "I'm fine, let's finish the city and move on." Raditz looked troubled. His brother usually prefers to destroy the city the old fashion way, destroying it building to building with Ki blasts, they would attract attention and he could get a good fight in. Raditz worried his plan might have stomped on Kakarot's pride. Raditz personally finds it silly to fight "fair" but his brother naively believes it's the best… no, the only way a Saiyan should fight. He has a real romantic sense of battle and it doesn't jive with Raditz's win by any means necessary, way of combat.

They have had a number of big arguments but it's never seemed to bother him to the same degree as right now. Raditz followed his lead and flew up far above the city. It was relatively unharmed, the only real damage is the center with a few craters from their landing the few attacks of theirs that hit the ground. Raditz took out a remote controller which was stored inside the front of their chest armor. If they were somehow destroyed there are extra remotes inside the pod and any remote controller in the squad can be used to open any of their pods. Kakarot did the same and they pressed a few buttons on it after which their space pods flew up into the air and landed in a far off jungle.

They were durable enough to take whatever they could throw at them but a crater they created is a poor place to hide them, they could get found out, potentially damaged or more-likely moved elsewhere. With their means of leaving the planet secured the Saiyan brothers unleashed their full power, being enveloped in a massive purple aura the two Saiyans fired off a massive Ki Blast Barrage at the city after a minute passes the city is reduced to a massive, jagged crater with small pieces of buildings and architecture littering the crater.

After the barrage Kakarot fired a stronger Ki blast which created a large explosion which flattened the crater making it look like brown flat lands with nothing in it. After this Kakarot and Raditz looked down at their handiwork.
