The house is bustling. So many people, so much food, it's a little overwhelming, even for how large this part of their residence is and how used to larger crowds he is, and the noise and general chaos that comes with it. Mike smirks and tilts his head towards Sofia as she bustles past him. "Hello, Sofia."
"Hola," she calls out, already halfway back towards the dining room, hands full of a tray of fresh tamales, just ready to be demolished.
Mike chuckles and shakes his head, taking a moment to peek in at where Heath, Maryse, Ricardo, Alicia, and all of their kids are hanging out, laughing and talking loudly in the dining room. In the entertainment room, AJ, Taya, John, Tamina, and George are clustered around a TV, yelling and laughing as they fight each other in the latest WWE game.
Mike is about to join them when he realizes something and wanders through a few rooms, before peeking into the kids' bedroom. Sure enough, Sara is sitting in a corner, her knees hugged tight to her chest as she rocks back and forth slowly, a pensive frown on her face. Mike exhales slowly and joins her, kneeling down on the thin rub that she likes to have tea parties on sometimes. "Hey, Sara Lou," he greets her quietly and she looks up at him, tears in her eyes.
"Daddy," she murmurs.
"Everything ok?"
"No," she pouts. "There's... too many people, it's too loud."
He sighs and hoists her into his arms, rocking her back and forth slowly. Strokes his fingers through her hair, gently. "I have an idea," he says. "Want to sneak outside and play in the yard a bit?" She thinks about it, then nods. He smiles and kisses her forehead. "Wanna go get George?"
She shakes her head at this, peeking up at him. "Can it just be you and me, daddy?"
Mike's eyes soften and he nods. "Of course, baby girl. Let's go do this thing."
She lights up, and even more so when they're outside and the majority of the noise and mess is left behind them, Sara cheerfully dancing around in the grass and enjoying the November sun on her face. Mike watches her with a small smile, and thinks about what the future may bring- in a few days, he's going against Gunther. There, he may walk out Intercontinental champion, or he may not. But either way, he won't miss out on moments like these, where he can make things even a little bit better for his children.
No matter what, nothing else matters more to him.
