"Do you really think he's going to go for it?" Julia asked as she read through the plan again as she rocked Kira in her arms. Tommy had been holed up in the infirmary with Kimberly for three days and there was no sign that he would leave her side until she was awake. "It's risky."
"But we're not enough to take Kiros out. Axel has done the most damage to him and he…we thought he'd be out for months. He was only out for a few weeks," Cameron said as Julia slowly nodded her head as she glanced over at Axel.
"If Ivan and Anise were helping him all along, maybe they helped him heal too," Shelby said as she felt the discomfort from the others. She knew that Tommy saw it as another betrayal and it made all of them hesitant about any new Guardians. "I'm just saying that maybe…"
"Shel. He's going to want in on this," Brandon said as she looked over at him. She had this feeling in the pit of her stomach that this was not something Tommy should even start. "His wife, his children…"
"I don't have a good feeling about this. About any of it," Shelby stated and Cameron let out a sigh. She hated that she didn't have a firm reason to tell them no, but everything in her said that this was less than ideal. "nPlease…maybe there is another way."
"You're not dying because of him, Shel," Cameron ground out as he stood up and then stormed out of the room. Shelby quickly wiped her eyes and let out a long sigh. She understood where he was coming from, but she didn't like how they were talking about going about this.
"He cares about you. I don't think he can stomach the thought of losing you," Julia said and Shelby barely nodded. She wished that he would just talk to her about it, instead he got angry and stormed around. "He's not handling this well though. None of us are."
"It's not you that could die from Kiros though. Kimberly and I should have a say in what the plan is. In what we're okay with you giving up to save us. And I can tell you that neither of us are okay with any of you dying to keep us alive," Shelby said as she stood up and then moved to get out of the Command Center. She needed fresh air and a chance to be away from what was going on, even if it was only a temporary reprieve.
"Well that went well," Patrick murmured as he looked over the plan and then looked back at Axel. He knew how skilled Axel was and they had seen some of Tommy's potential, but he was sure there was another layer that they hadn't been exposed to. "Dr. O is capable of this and more though. I think we talk with him, but Shelby's right. They should get a say."
"Their say is going to be that Cameron and Tommy don't get to go risk their lives for them," Julia said as she let out a sigh. "I see both sides here. I just know that we don't want Dr. O forced to come in. I think if it is going to happen- it would be better for us to have a plan and for us to know what we're going to do to help as well. He's strong, but he doesn't have powers anymore."
"Actually…he does," Rebekah announced as they all looked up at her. "I've been here for a minute. Tommy does still have powers, but he doesn't want to use them anymore and I can't say that I really blame him about that one. From what we can tell- he's just as powerful as she is, only on the ranger spectrum."
"Why would he stop using them?" Brandon asked and Rebekah gulped. She had thought that Tommy would have talked to them about this, but she also realized that she was told much more as a Guardian. Tommy had never told her about any of this, she doubted that he confided in anyone other than Kimberly and his therapist. "Rebekah."
"I stopped because I promised her I would. I promised I would leave this life- we all see how well that has turned out," Tommy said as they all jerked around to him and he gave them a weak smile. "She's not awake- I just wanted to check on them. She'll have my ass if I only sit by her side and wait for her to get better. What are you working on?"
"Cam and I have a couple ideas, primarily around taking this to Kiros as opposed to waiting for him to come after them again," Axel said as Julia hastily tried to stuff away the papers and he just shook his head at her. "It's not something you need to look at right now."
"But I have time to look at it, pass it on over, Jules," Tommy said and she just shook her head at him and he quirked an eyebrow. "Julia."
"No. Not right now. Not until she has a say about what you do and you have someone that will keep you from charging in there half-cocked," Julia stated and he gave her a perturbed look. "You'd still go exact revenge on your friends' siblings if it wasn't for what she'd do to you when she found out. We all know that she'll be much more willing to forgive you with a monster like Kiros. There's a reason you need to be alive. There's a reason you, alone, survived Atlantis."
"Point taken. Can I borrow one of you to help me set up a space for them in there? I'm thinking…I don't know…maybe having them in there too will help," Tommy muttered as Brandon stood up to volunteer and he grabbed Kira from Julia. "Axe- keep working on that plan. I'm going to want to hear it as soon as she's awake."
