Chapter Three
The Tunnel of Love? And Anzu's Broken Heart!

How did they get into this situation? These were the thoughts of the teenagers as they sat next to each other… going through the tunnel of love… Anzu closed her eyes angrily as Jonouchi had his eyes closed and his arms crossed over his chest. Why did they agree to go with Michelle and her boyfriend Max? And why the hell did they agree to go to the tunnel of love? Well, they kind of agreed to it - okay, they were against it, so what! Michelle forced them to go (with the help of her boyfriend.) after failing to convince Michelle that they were no longer an item (not like they were to begin with…) Anzu sighed. 'Sometimes I really hate Michelle… this whole thing wouldn't have happened if Jonouchi hadn't asked me to be his fake girlfriend.' She thought to herself. Jonouchi opened his eyes and glanced over at her, only to receive a glare that said: Your-Dead-Meat. He grumbled and looked the other way.

"You do know this is your fault."

"What!?" He turned back to her as he glared at her. "What the hell do ya mean by that!?" he asked irritated. "You know what I mean! If you didn't ask me to pretend to be your girlfriend in the first place, we wouldn't be in this situation!"

Anzu was frustrated with this whole situation! She knew she shouldn't be taking it out on Jonouchi, but dammit - she was angry! And at Michelle and at this pretending thing! She then saw Jonouchi sigh. "I know." Her eyes softened when she saw the regret in his eyes, she also saw sadness in them. She felt bad for him, this was the first time she had seen him so worked up over a girl before (well maybe besides Mai, but she was more of a friend, and she was older than him.) And he was turned down before he could even confess his feelings. He wasn't actually turned down, but the fact remained - he wasn't able to tell her how he felt.

'I bet it hurt to find out that the person that you love is in love with someone else.' She thought sadly.

"Jonouchi, I'm sorry - I didn't mean it like that… I'm just mad at Michelle." she said softly as she looked at her friend. "It's okay, Anzu; don't worry about it." He said with a small smile, and for some reason, she liked it when he smiled like that.

After a VERY long ride in the Tunnel of LOVE, Jonouchi and Anzu started to walk around to look for Michelle and Max, but so far, they couldn't find them. "Hey Jonouchi, why don't you look-" Anzu froze. Jonouchi blinked when Anzu stopped and paused. "Anzu what's wrong-" he then turned to look at what she was staring at. "Oh hell." He whispered. Not too far from them was his sister Shizuka and Atem (who had decided to not go to the afterlife) and they were… kissing, at least he was being gentle with his sister… but since when were they an item? Why didn't they tell him? Or Anzu… Anzu! Their group of friends knew how she loved Atem, everyone knew - well all except for Atem that is, or he just brushed it aside. He looked at Anzu, and he saw the tears begin to well up in her eyes and she turned away from the scene and ran. "Anzu!" Jonouchi called after her as he chased after her.

Unknown to them, Atem had noticed someone near them, and he let go of Shizuka's lips. He had got someone running away out of the corner of his eyes. 'Was that Anzu? Did she have tears in her eyes? And was Jonouchi chasing after her?' he thought with narrow eyes. "Is something wrong, Atem?" Shizuka asked and Atem blinked as he looked at her, he then smiled. "Nothing is wrong, love." He kissed her cheek and she blushed. "Nothing at all."

How could she be so blind? He wasn't in love with her, why couldn't she see it? Tears went down her cheeks as she cried. It was only a crush after all… but why did it have to hurt so much?

"Anzu!"

She stopped when she heard a familiar voice and glanced over her shoulder and saw Jonouchi, he ran up to her and he saw tears running down her pretty face. Worry was written all over his face as he stared at her, she turned around to face him and looked down, her face in pain. "Anzu…" he said again, but more softly this time. He placed his hand on her shoulder. "Are you alright?" he asked. 'Okay Jonouchi, that was a stupid question to ask! She is clearly not okay!' he thought to himself. Anzu said nothing. She just leaned closer to him, buried her face in his chest, and wrapped her arms around his waist, which partly surprised him. He then placed his waist and back and then she cried.

The one hand that was on her back, he started to rub her back slowly, trying to calm her down. He then placed his chin on top of her head. He waited until her body had calmed down from the continuing sobbing before he spoke up. "Are you okay now?" he asked.

"No." She hiccupped. "Do you want to talk about it?" he asked her.

"…" she was silent for a moment. She hugged Jonouchi, not sure if she wanted to or not - but Jonouchi was her friend, she could tell him her feelings, right?

"I-It hurts Jonouchi!" she said as she slowly looked up at him, her once beautiful azure blue eyes that were always happy with joy were now red and puffy. "Is this how you felt with Michelle?" she asked softly as she looked up into his soft brown eyes. He nodded his head. "Yeah…" he said softly as he nodded his head. "But another girl told me once that there are other girls out there in the world, I just in to find her" he said softly. And she blinked at him. "Anzu, maybe Atem isn't for you… maybe there is some other guy out there just for you and you don't know it?" 'What the hell am I saying?' Thought Jonouchi as he watched Anzu's face.

Anzu blinked again and then she gave a small smile. "Maybe, but it still hurts."

"I know it does… forget about it right now and let's find Michelle and Max!" he said as Anzu nodded her head, she then hugged him, and he blushed a deep red color. "Thanks, Jonouchi." She said with a smile. He hugged her back- she felt… warm, for some reason, and safe being in his arms like this… bad thoughts, Anzu! They then parted from the hug.

"Well, what are we waiting for!? Let's find them! I'm hungry!"

Anzu had to laugh at this as Jonouchi pumped his fist in the air. Even though she was hurting on the inside… Jonouchi seemed to make her feel better - she was glad that she had him as a friend. 'I should do something nice for him.' She thought to herself as she watched his smiling face. 'Yeah, something really nice.'

Anzu sighed as she crashed into her bed, even though today had turned out to be horrible for her because she found Atem kissing Shizuka, Jonouchi's little sister… she was so heart-broken when she saw that, the kiss between the two - but on the bright side of things, she was glad that Jonouchi was there with her. He had made her feel better and after they had found Michelle and Max again, they explained they were not a couple and they were just friends, and Michelle seemed disappointed that Anzu and Jonouchi were not together. Afterward, they went to Burger World and got something to eat. And during the whole time, he was with her Jonouchi tried to make her laugh and keep her mind off Atem and his sister.

Jonouchi maybe an idiot at times, but he is a good friend. She then hugged her pillow as her silent tears began to fall. 'Will I be able to face Atem… now that he is with Shizuka?'

Jonouchi was about to pull his blonde hair out of his head… well actually he was… two things were bothering him.

1. His sister or Atem haven't told him that they are going out and

2. Anzu.

He sighed as he flopped on his bed. When she hugged him, she made him feel weird… different than what Michelle made him feel… everything was just weird! Lately, all that he had been thinking about was Anzu! And in a way that he shouldn't. She was his friend, for crying out loud! He grumbled, what was wrong with him? It wasn't like he actually had feelings for her… his eyes widened, he so didn't just that…

"Arrrgghhhhh!"

"Katsuya? Are you okay?" Jonouchi blinked when he heard a soft feminine voice, a girl of two years younger them him with long soft brown hair and beautiful green eyes, ran into his room. It was his sister, Shizuka… what was she doing here? Not that he wasn't happy about it… but he ended up smiling anyways. "I'm fine, sis. Just tired out." he said truthfully. Shizuka blinked and mouthed an "Oh" but then she smiled. "Guess what!"

"What?" he asked as he stared at his sister, as he sat up in his bed. 'I wonder if this is about her and Atem?' he thought. "Me and Atem are going out." She said blushing. He stared at his sister for a moment. 'Thought so.' "I already know…"

Shizuka's blush deepened. "Did Atem tell you?" she asked him. Jonouchi shook his head no. "No, I found the two of you kissing today." He explained.

"Oh! … you're not mad or anything are you?" she asked, worried that he may not approve. "No, I'm happy for the both of you, sis." He said with a smile on his face. She hugged her brother tightly. "I'm so glad you approve!" The smile that he had on his face didn't reach his eyes as he patted the back of his sister. What was he supposed to say? That he was against it? Well, a part of him was happy for them but the other part? He thought how much it hurt Anzu for them to be together…

"How about we go out and you can tell me how you ended up with Atem. I want details!"

"Katsuya!" his sister said with a blush. "I'm your big brother, I have the right to know these things!" he said in a serious tone. She gave a nod and parted from their hug. "Okay." she said softly. She then walked out of his room. He looked out of his window as he stood up and a worried look went across his features. "Anzu…" He said, mostly to himself.

{The Next Day}

Anzu sat at her desk, her face in her hands as she gazed out at the window. Yugi, who had been watching her afar - frowned. Anzu had been like that all day like she was staring into space, and he was becoming worried. There had to be something bothering her… "Anzu?" Anzu blinked and saw Yugi standing in front of her desk with a worried look on his face. She stared at him for a moment - he looked so much like Atem, besides the fact that he looked more innocent looking with his big innocent violet eyes and childish looks… but those childish looks were starting to go slowly away, but Yugi was still Yugi at least… "Hi Yugi," she said softly. Even though it was Yugi, she really didn't want to talk to anyone. "Are you alright?" he asked with worry.

"I'm fine, Yugi; just tired." She explained with a smile, but that smile didn't reach her eyes. Yugi frowned; he didn't buy it - but he wasn't going to push it out of her to find out what was wrong either.

"Class! Get to your seats!" said their teacher, everyone did as they were told.

{Later}

"You will be paired in pairs, you may pick your assignment, but each one of you has already chosen who your partner is." The teacher explained to the class, groaning was heard from the classroom. "Now quiet! Now then… let's start off…" As the teacher went down the list, some were overjoyed, while others… you could hear the groaning in the background.

"Mazaki Anzu and… Jonouchi Katsuya."

Both teens' eyes widen. "What!?"

Anzu muttered something under her breath. She was sure that she was going to fail. The only thing that Jonouchi didn't get an "F" on was P.E. Well at least this would help keep her mind off of things, like Atem and Shizuka…and the fact that Jonouchi was making a fool of himself, again… but she would rather think about him making a fool of himself then what she saw yesterday. She grumbled. But so far, they were trying to find a subject for the assignment, but they couldn't think of anything! She was doomed! Jonouchi blinked as he looked at her. "Ah, Anzu. What's wrong?" he asked her.

"I'm going get an F." she said flatly.

"Don't worry Anzu! Leave this to me!" he said with a big grin on his face. She let out a sigh. "That's what I'm afraid of…" she muttered under her breath. Why her?

Well hopefully someone liked this, sorry that I have not updated this in a long while. But things happen and writer's block happens -_-; Like I said before I don't know when chapter four will be written, but I'll try to get it up as soon as I can, hopefully sooner than 11 years… man that is a long time…. It doesn't feel that long… to me at least, I dunno. Anyways please review if you like the chapter. Until next time, Marik's girl.
