Man...how long has it been?
Unydne: Too long.
And how many times have I said this?
Alphys: Too many.
Good grief, this is a shameful display from me. I won't bother with excuses, either. I've been messing up, plain and simple, so I'll own up to keeping those who still muster up the patience to read this. This is technically one of my longer stories, with how it's got multiple parts series wise, and the third part being put through a reboot. After all that, I can't just let this go incomplete.
Toriel: Self-reflection tends to do wonders.
I'll just have to do my best and keep on going with this until I reach the end. Because even after all this time, with the constant writing burnout I have with this story, I refuse to outright give up on it. This story will have a proper ending. Even if I can't promise if it will be a good one, even if I can't shake off the rust I've gained along the way, I WILL get there. If IRL doesn't screw me over somehow, expect more updates for this story. I can't promise they'll be consistent, but I'm going to see this through to the end no matter what.
Count on it!
Undyne: (Smirks) Well, whaddya waitin' for, punk? Let's do this!
Chapter...START!
What the hell is happening?!
When Flowey arrived at the scene of the crime, there wasn't much he could think about aside from our outrageously, murderously angry he was. He felt like he was entitled to feeling this pissed off, honestly. Because something as severe as this could mean a lot of things and none of them spelled goodwill for the future in the slightest.
Temmie was seriously hurt, and Alvina was nowhere to be found.
And Adam was dead.
"Temmie! Temmie!" Flowey exclaimed worriedly, as his vines tenderly carried the injured monster, doing whatever he could to gently heal her. Inside, he was doing his damnedest to not completely and utterly explode with rage. He's never felt so angry before in his new life. Which didn't seem like that much of an accomplishment, but he felt like he's barely reached anger of such levels before now. "Temmie, please wake up! What the hell happened here!?"
Temmie slowly opened her eyes, with tears streaming down her face. Flowey sometimes found recovering new emotions to be a bit limiting and difficult to happening, because just the sight of her tears streaming down her face had him distraught, agonizing over having failed to prevent whatever had caused this within her. He cradled her in his vines as she struggled to say something, as more people came by in order to investigate the scene of the crime.
"...Tem...failed...to protect Alvina...she was...taken...away...and killed...her brother!" Temmie teared up, far too distraught to speak the way she usually does. "She was taken by...some kind of wizard...no... the instinctual fear I felt...I think he was...one of the Seven!" Temmie whimpered as her tears increased as she shook her head, one of her paws stretching to wipe her tears in vain, sobbing quietly. "There was...nothing...I could have done...!"
Hearing that one of the Seven was out there and had taken Alvina away and murdered her brother, seriously filled Flowey with a deep sense of apprehension. But after initially getting over that feeling of fear, it was still ultimately superseded by the feeling of fury he felt at the fact that he left Temmie in this state. Nothing could have made him angrier than this. Though he knew that allowed himself to be overwhelmed by these emotions of his was not going to help him resolve whatever was happening right now. He needed to think about what to do next with the current information that he had. Alvina being captured and her brother being killed was a strong indication that their enemies were done playing the long game. Whatever would happen from here on was bound to get Ebott and everyone else involved once more.
Though without the other Dreemurrs here, it wasn't likely that they'd be able to navigate through the crisis as well. But at this rate, they wouldn't be able to do so cleanly. They would just have to manage without them, for they were likely occupied with their own problems, and they wouldn't have time to make it back here, anyway. However, things were going to progress, Flowey has already decided on something rather specific: If no one else got them first, He was going to do whatever it takes to KILL the ones responsible. There was nothing more to it, he was going to kill the ones responsible and those who were involved.
"Temmie, listen to me." Flowey began as he gently caressed Temmie, his vines glowing and proceeding to softly heal her wounds, along with giving her some monster food to further rejuvenate her. "I might have a decent idea as to where they might have taken her. But we can't go and get her. We have to trust the others to help her and save her. You didn't do anything wrong." Flowey reassured as he lightly kissed her forehead, pressing his head against hers soon afterwards. "For now, we've got to handle everything here for when she comes back home. And she WILL be back home. Dreemurrs don't give up so easily, you know."
"...Flowey..." Temmie muttered, as her arms stretched around the flower as she hugged him for comfort, whimpering at her helplessness at the current situation.
Flowey gently tightened his hug around the Tem, wanting to be there for her at a difficult time. This was going to be difficult for everyone given the current way of things. But he had to believe that they could all get through it, just like the several times they've been able to do so before.
But if they mess up, they wouldn't be able to do things over. These were their final lives, for real. This worry was always at the back of his mind, and it didn't feel more appropriate to worry about than it did right now, because it felt like their enemies were bringing out the biggest guns they had. He would have to be ready to defend Ebott. Though admittedly, he didn't have to stand ready, not alone at least.
He noticed a beeping on Alvina's desk or what was left of it, and quickly realized what it meant.
High above, airborne within Ebott, three cloaked figures were at the ready, each of them brimmin g with magical strength at the moment. They've set their eyes on the city at large, and they could sense a vast amount of monsters inhabiting the city. The thought of it bothered some of them to a degree, perhaps one more than the others. Regardless, this was the assignment that they wouldn't have any problems carrying out.
"I really can't believe we've been forced to come out here to deal with this ourselves..."
"It's perhaps fitting. We had to finish what we started. And how better to do it than return to the place where it all began? Though I think Revan has been taking it a bit too personally."
"It's not like it matters. We have our mission, and we have to see it done post haste." One of them looked down as they sensed something appearing before them. "Though, it seems like someone has come to greet us."
Standing in Ebott's defense, behind their own defenders, was something rather unexpected for them. As they could currently see a water dragon they're familiar with, a serpentine monster, and a nine tailed fox, all preparing to greet the three of them at hand.
"Alvina has been snatched away, and we can't even go to save her at the moment. We'll just have to trust the others to be able to manage it. But right now...right now..." Levi clenched his claws as water was flowing off of him in actual rippling waves. "There's no way we can just allow for this to happen."
"You're speaking for all of us, Levi dear. We can't forgive them for this. My sweet Alvina has been whisked away! I can't smell her presence in the city at all!" Cleo hissed angrily while shipping her tail.
"Who knew that such a crisis would happen upon our lands..." Tamotsu growled as his tails whipped about, brimming with power. "But enough people have been hurt by these people already. We've no choice but to confront them ourselves, and end this as soon as possible with our own paws and claws! What happened all those years ago will not be repeated today! I'm prepared to stake my life on it!"
With their High King and Queen not being in the area at the moment, occupied with things of greater priority, the trio would have to take charge in defending their home from the current menace. An explicit display of trust that everyone would be able to get each other through this, until they have safely returned. This goes especially true for Tamotsu, who had the memories and thoughts of his daughter in mind when thinking about the state that their kingdom should be in once she returns home.
The air around everyone sensed as the three mages skin descended onto the ground. Their eyes locked onto each other as Mettaton flew around getting everyone to evacuate the area. This would not be something safe to be close around, if they wanted everyone to stay safe. Whatever it took, they couldn't let things get any worse than they have right now.
"I think I'll start things off." Levi folded his arms as he raised himself upwards with a rising spiral of water. He soon pushed his palm outwards as multiple spirals of water shot towards the mages in question. With a grunt, he watched as they were immediately blocked with a hardened wall of rock. "Didn't put enough of my back into it..."
"It's so cute that you think you could stand up to us."
"What's even cuter is how you think we'll let you walk over us."
One of them landed majestically on the ground. "You're getting a bit too comfortable with your unearned freedoms. You've all forgotten how horrifically you've all lost in the last war between Humans and Monsters. You don't have a chance."
"Times have changed. And along with it, the game of chance." Levi espoused as he raised his paws, water surrounding him and shimmering. "And this new time, this new era, is not welcome to people like you. It's about high time you quickly realize that."
"This age has no place for you." Cleo agreed, bravely slithering to her husband's side. "It's about time someone knocked you all off of your high horses."
"My friends won't be able to live peacefully, so long as you exist." Valerie calmly deduced with a tilted head. "Will you truly not surrender before things escalate even further?"
Chunks of earth manifested around the group, and shot towards them like cannons. Valerie's water ended up slicing many of them into pieces before they could each of them. Valerie sighed softly, shaking her head. It would seem that she had her answer, and it was exactly what she expected it to be yet wished that it weren't.
"Once I sensed their presence upon this plan, I've already known that diplomacy would not solve this conflict. They're deeply set into their worldview, far more than I was." Tamotsu slammed the ground with his paws, snarling. "They would much rather see us destroyed than allowing us to exist alongside Humanity."
"Even so..." Valerie clasped her hands and sighed, as several of Cleo's snakes gently pushed her away and out of the line of sight.
"It was commendable for you to try, dear. But your father and I already knew what their answer would be. It hasn't changed before, and it's not going to change now."
"Or ever." Levi uttered grimly, the water around him pulsing with a glowing blue hue. The glowing water wrapped around the nearest magician like a tendril and slammed him into the ground in a bright blue explosion of water, his eyes focused on his enemy. "And that is exactly why we can't let them leave this place alive. They will never stop. They threaten a potentially prosperous era with their refusal to change."
"Some changes were not meant to happen and need to be stopped. This is one of them." The magician scoffed as he slashed the water tendril off of him, feeding himself as more earth surrounded him and began to glow. "Now then, Leviathan. Are you prepared to die?"
"I'll let you know when I'm finished living." Massive blasts of water and rock crashed against each other, the sheer force behind either of them managing to cancel each other out.
Meanwhile, Tamotsu snarled as one of the other magicians landed in front of him, her smile spread across her face. Several of his tails lashed out against her, which she leapt over with a graceful ease, before buffeting him with forceful winds, pushing him back a decent deal. He clawed at the ground to keep himself from being blown away further.
"You will submit to us, 'King' Tamotsu." She declared with a soft smile. He scoffed at her demand, the fox fire swirling around him and expanding, spreading out to attempt to engulf her. They weren't so easily snuffed out by her winds, but they did struggle to attempt to reach her.
"You come here making demands of such a nature to us and expecting them to be met without question. You all really haven't changed at all." Tamotsu snarled as she slashed his claw, a wave of fox fire shooting towards the magician. She immediately swirls out of the way with a graceful gist of wind, smiling the entire time. "My daughter's era will thrive, and I will not allow you to obstruct that."
"Will you feel better about these current events if I waited to kill her first?" The response to that was for the flames to grow exponentially stronger and briefly overpower her winds, though she manages to take it in stride and avoid the sheer heat. "I'm guessing you're not in favor of that option either, hm?"
"Enough of your taunts. It's already very clear that none of us are ever going to see eye to eye." Tamotsu's tails caught fire, and he lashed each of them towards his opponent, with how she uses a barrier of wind to push them back a bit, before ultimately flying upwards to avoid the multiple lashes. "You won't ruin this age with your selfishness. I refuse to allow it to happen!"
Flowey, after gently handling Temmie to the side, was being faced by one of the other magicians. He winced as he turned his head towards him, his fangs appearing slyly on his face.
"Hey. How about you back off? I won't hesitate to kill you."
"A talking flower is issuing empty threats. This is truly a strange world." The magician stoically utters as Flowey dug underground, barely avoiding a massive blast of energy that tore it apart. He reappears a few feet away, shaking his head at the close call.
"I used to be like that once, kind of fearing getting destroyed completely. And I've seen that fear actually getting realized, and it wasn't a fun thing to witness. And this was before me, and that Fluffy eared moron separated and became our own distinct identities." Flowey shit forth several vines, with the mages dodging around nearly all of them and approaching Flowey in a flash of light, only for even more vines to shoot upwards and impale them from below the ground. "But now, I've got much more to live for, and now I have the kind of body and soul to appreciate those things. So, I don't think you're going to understand how much you've pissed me off by trying to ruin all of that and get in our way."
"You're the ones who are in our way." The mage responded by slamming their palms onto the ground and causing geysers of energy to erupt from below, nearly making Flowey lose his momentum. But he took advantage as he used his vines to grab some of the glowing debris, magic surging through his vines and around the debris, until he tossed them all towards the "You monsters have always been in the way, even way back then! It just took us far too long to realize or do something about it. And now you all have the gall to come crawling back from the dark depths like the maggots you are!"
"I'm a flower, not a maggot! I can see why everyone from our side of things wasn't a fan of you!" Flowey exclaimed as multiple vines shot forth. And they all began to sprout sunflowers on their extensive flora; the flowers began gathering energy from the sunlight and blasts the mage from multiple angels, sending them crashing into the ground in a heap. Flowey huffed, flower pellets glowing around him. "Your biggest mistake was thinking Monsters were going to go down the same way as last time. Monsterkind isn't as weak to humans as they were back then; the gap is a LOT closer. You feel threatened by us. And yes, some of us don't have good intentions, some of us are even managed to embrace what they're called." Flowey extends his vine, as it was glowing with bright energy, and shoots it forth, smacking the mage across the face. "But trying to wipe us ALL out over something like that is stupid!"
Admittedly, Flowey wasn't one to talk, some of them truly weren't. But that was before. This was now. And so long as they had their way, things would never go back to those times again. So, there was no way he was going to let these people waltz in and screw everything up. They've all come too far and done too much for it all to be just swiped away again as if it never happened. This time he was going to make things count.
No matter how much pain he had to endure.
With a surge of magic, Flowey allowed his vines to extend and expand, breathing heavily as he was surrounding himself in them, as the ravages of battle swirled around him, everyone fighting for their lives.
"We've all been through and even done terrible things to get to this point. I won't let them be made meaningless!" Flowey shouted as significantly more pellets and vines manifested around him, followed by a glowing visage of Omega Flowey right over him. "Everyone here deserves far better than any of you!"
And that was something he meant completely. He would prove it, right here and now.
Chara was floating in a dark and empty space. His red eyes were looking into nothing, but he similarly felt like he was looking at everything. His hair flowed slowly in front of his face, his poncho waving around him slowly. A soft sigh left his lips; he couldn't move a muscle, even though he technically wasn't being restrained by anything. He had no idea what any of this means or what it entails, but the basic idea he managed to gather was that he was currently unable to act right now. Which felt a bit frustrating as this was the last time, he could afford being able to not so a thing about his situation, but there wasn't much he could do or say about the matter. But he was aware of one thing that was a definite given considering everything he could feel and everything that he currently knew.
My family needs me.
It was a bit of a difficult effort, trying to pull himself back up from the depths of unconsciousness. He was pretty sure that he even heard the subtle mutterings of him being so horribly beaten down that he was in a coma. Well, that definitely wasn't any good. Chara can't let himself be trapped by something like a coma, so he tried to find a way. He closed his eyes and sighed.
I have to think. Anything beats sitting here helplessly. If I'd known any better, I'd say I was lost in the Void. I'm not feeling the crushing weight of nonexistence all over me, so that's not it. Chara shook his head quietly as he tried to think of something. His soul pulsed for several moments, brimming with Determination. Dig deep. Real deep inside. I need to help my family out of this mess. What can I do...?"
Chara opened his eyes further as his soul pulsed yet again. Then it pulsed again. And again, and it was glowing brighter with every pulse. With his soul glowing brighter and stronger with every pulse of Determination, Chara felt something swelling within him. He wasn't quite waking up, but it was something similar to it. He felt himself rising up from the depths, and his focus grew every second that passed. An ethereal rush passing by his face, his hair bristling with the motion. And as he felt like he was traveling far yet at the same time going at a slow and steady pace, a shining light could be seen on the other side of the wall, and he reached out his hand towards it. The brightness shined like a star, much like the Save Points that used to exist more often. And when he felt enveloped by the shine, the radiance spread everywhere...
He found himself floating over his comatose body, eyes widening in surprise. But after a moment of adjustment, his eyes lowered as the familiarity waved over him.
My soul is separated from my body...done this plenty of times throughout the various RESETS...but it feels so far away now. And yet so close.
Chara felt liberated. Not in the sheer fulfilling sense of freedom, in that sense. But the idea that whatever was keeping him bound was no longer restraining him, and now he's able to do something about the building crisis. He would just have to do so without the aid of his physical body, which was still deep in a coma. He even wondered if being so deep in a coma helped make this process easier. But there was no time to wonder about the intricacies of that. His family needed his help, and the one he sensed could need it most was Asriel himself.
Okay, let's see what we can manage here. If I'm not too late, and I make it in time, I'll be able to help turn this entire disaster around. I don't the conditions to be need perfect; I just need workable. And I can work with this.
With that in mind, Chara allowed himself to levitate more in his soul, before he ends up soaring across the skies, leaving his current location behind. As his soul was taking off, Muffet could be seen sighing softly, resting a fist on her chin with a brief puff-cheeked pout.
"...Dummy. He thought I wouldn't be able to sense what he's up to? Diligent spiders like me pay attention!" Muffet shook her head with a sigh. There wasn't much that could be done about it now, since he's already taken off. Oh Chara-Dearie. After everything that's happened, I do find your dedication to your family to be rather sweet...but goodness, at least tell your girlfriend that you're literally leaving your body behind to help them!
Muffet could only shrug and shake her head. Dreemurrs. Even ones not related by blood. They can't help but be relentless stubborn, no matter the odds. Sometimes to their detriment. But she couldn't deny that very determination was rather inspiring when it was channeled towards a more benevolent direction. And it was for that reason, that Muffet decides to trust that Chara knew what he was doing.
Even if she had tried talking to him beforehand, his mind would have been made up. She sheepishly conceded to that.
"I suppose I'll have to watch over your body until you get back." Muffet sighs as she spins her webs, which began to glow as several glowing sparkles entered the fray, and foes began landing in front of her. All of her eyes shifted between her various enemies with a glimmer of ferocity slowly making their way into them.
Yes.
Chara's body won't have a scratch on it by the time his soul safely returns.
She'll ensure that, personally.
Faryn had a bad feeling. She could sense it in her tails.
While things have been running somewhat smoothly for the moment, she could just tell, even as she was eating more snacks given to her by those who graciously showed her hospitality, that there was something even worse coming for them all. A deep part of her had hopes that she would be wrong on that gut feeling of hers, the gut feeling that wasn't simply her belly growling for more food, but she knew better than that. For the bad feeling even made her tails bristle just slightly. Enough for her to feel, but subtle enough that nobody who's paying attention would have a difficult time noticing.
The real indicator would be the soul.
She could feel in her soul that something was wrong. She couldn't directly pin it down, but she knew that it was there. She looked up towards the skies, munching on grapes, wiping her mouth slightly before she then turned towards Frisk, who was resting quietly with Toriel. Lowering her eyes softly, she eats the rest of her grapes quickly, before she moves over to Frisk.
"The atmosphere feels rather suffocating, does it not?" Toriel utters, and Faryn manages to get that Toriel could sense it too. She clutched her paws around Frisk, her eyes lowering. "Frisk, my child. Are you feeling alright?"
"I think so..." Frisk muffles softly, sinking softly against Toriel's soft and plush figure. "I hope nothing else happens to this Kingdom. It's been through enough as it is, it doesn't need any more trouble coming to it because of us."
"I hardly think that it would be because of us...bah, who am I kidding?" Undyne grumbled while rolling her shoulder, flashing her fangs in a snarl. "I think we got to get outta here soon. We don't exactly have a lot of luck when it comes to things like this. I don't want to give these folks anymore either." She folded her arms under her breasts and turned to Alphys. "Whaddya think, Al?"
"It might be our best course of action. We have a good idea of where to go, but we'd have to prepare in full before we can do so. We won't know what we'll run into on the way." Alphys lightly pawed her chin, her tail swaying anxiously, her eyes nearly closing in a wince. "And even past that, we'd also need to let the others know where we're going, and we're all still separated. Everything is a mess, even though we were able to suppress Behemoth. I wouldn't be surprised if things got even worse."
"Gut things like this are usually right on the money, but I don't like having that anxiety interferin' with my focus in a fight." Undyne rolls her shoulders and cracks her neck. "The best we can do is what we've always done, which is our best! Nothing is going to keep us down!"
"How about some more snacks to ease the spirits?" Faryn offers with a smile as she lends some to Frisk, who takes some offered grapes with a smile and nod of thanks, as they proceeded to eat together. The texture and flavor of their fruit manages to soothe their souls, even if only for a little bit. Enough for them to regain themselves. Collecting themselves and nuzzling one another, Toriel has them both in a warm and gentle hug while letting her breathing be their current ambience. "Frisk, how are you feeling?"
"I'm alright. I have that feeling too, but I don't want it to freeze me in place." Frisk wondered as he sits up a bit while munching on his grapes, contemplating on the next move for everyone to make. "I think it would be best if we were to all leave, if only because we don't want to put anyone in even more danger." He eats another grape while turning to Faryn, who's eaten a majority of her own grapes already with her tail flicking about. "Though if we do leave, we might have to prepare for someone to hunt us down, too."
"It's a troublesome possibility that has happened it's fair share of times, but it's important we keep note of it." Toriel agreed while lightly caressing Frisk's hair. "I'd want you to stick close to me as possible, my child. There is telling what dangers might befall us next, especially with Revan actively seeking to end our lives. I don't want you to be too far from me after what happened." Toriel hummed as she looked towards the horizon, her eyes softening to the slightest degree. "Regardless of the danger that might befall us, I'll remain steadfast in protecting you, my child."
Frisk gently hugged Toriel back, and Faryn similarly hugging Frisk in turn. Undyne and Gerson watched over them both with solemn faces, while Alohys was scratching the back of her head when Undyne began patting the top of her own. Gerson soon narrowed his eyes first, as everyone soon felt a wave of unease washing over them. His eye narrowed as he turned towards the direction, his hands clutching onto his hammer. Faryn's ears twitched as she eats the last of her grapes, before setting things to the side and hopping onto her feet, with Frisk standing next to her. Toriel narrowed her eyes as she could easily sense the sheer malevolence in the air. And then, she could immediately sense exactly who the enemy was.
A clap of thunder.
Toriel immediately moves in front of Frisk and blocks something with both of her paws infused with flames. Lightning crashed around her but kept at bay by Toriel's flames, tinted with ice-fire. She pushed back as a wave of cold flames swirled around her and blasted the attacker back several feet before they landed roughly. Her eyes narrowed towards the offending presence; her form placed diligently in front of Frisk. At first, she was immediately at the ready for conflict once she realized the origin of the presence.
Then she briefly faltered when she realized what was happening.
"Toriel..." Alvina uttered as she was tattered and electrocuted, with Revan holding her up by the neck in the process.
"...Unhand her, now." Toriel glared heatedly as the cold flames around her intensified.
"You're in no position to give me orders, inferior creature." Revan growled while tightening his hold on Alvina. "This is the new directive. You're going to stand there and allow yourself to be executed alongside the boy, and you'll both die forgotten and vanquished from this world. It's the best way to ensure that your corruptive influence cannot spread any further."
"Yeah, like we're going to listen to that shit." Undyne scoffed as a spear of water formed in her hands, as she was reaching to lift her eye patch. "We know where this kind of standoff goes, I've watched enough to know that you're not a man of honor at all. You're going to kill everyone here no matter what we do." Undyne held her spear towards her enemy before her. "And we're going to stop ya, no matter what you do."
"Hmph. So, you would rather your human 'friend' here die for the sake of your convictions?"
"That's not going to happen, old man. You might as well leave her alone."
"She has nothing to live for." Revan's eyes flashed with lightning. "I've already killed her brother."
Alphys gasped as Undyne's eye widened, then she flashed and grit her fangs in righteous fury. "You fucking did what?"
"Oh no, Adam..." Alphys paws reached up to her mouth as she fell to her knees, seeing the misery on Alvina's face at being reminded that the one blood relative that still loved and cherished her was now gone from this world.
Toriel's eyes ignited with fury at this, as the whimpering sobs from Alvina the moment after Revan declared this proves it is not a bluff. Her paws swirled with flames and launched themselves towards Revan. His eyes widened as he held Alvina in front of him to take the brunt of the attack, only to have the woman swiped from him, by Faryn grabbing her with her tails and sliding across the ground, holding her in her arms. Revan nearly decried her interference as the blast of flames slammed into him, before Undyne's spears launched towards him and impaled him through his arms. He snapped them in half and shook off the damage taken.
But still, Undyne had even more spears thrown his way, and many of them exploded in vast blasts of water. Revan easily dodged out of the way of some of them, vanishing in multiple flashes of lightning. But soon enough, his back met a glowing wall from behind. A barrier was formed; Frisk being the one responsible for the glowing green shield to keep him from getting away for a few seconds. But it was more than enough. Toriel blasted him with an even more powerful torrent of flames, which managed to give him a few burns from the sheer intensity of them. He didn't falter; however, moments later he flashed black lightning and struck Toriel in her stomach.
Toriel rolled across the ground several times before she pressed herself up with her paws and jumped upwards, a blast of lightning crashing down where she was initially lying down, the blast devastating the landscape before her. He attempted to zip towards her, and he stabbed her through with his lightning infused dagger in her chest. Toriel briefly sputtered blood from this, only to grit her teeth. Taking a cue from Undyne's book, she gripped Revan by the shoulders as she pulled back and slammed her forehead into his, a blast of fire accompanying it. They pushed away from one another, with Revan growling at his scorched forehead, and Toriel panting at the bloodied dagger wound in her chest.
"Why must you come and actively cause us such misery, Revan?!"
"There's no use explaining such things to wretched monsters!"
As soon as he said this, more of his allies appeared in flashes of lightning, and went on the attack. Undyne gasped as she blocked a strike that was infused with heat, which her water began to sizzle and steam against. Undyne grit her teeth as she gripped her spear and slashed outwards, forcing the attacker on the backfoot. She recognized them as a mage, but even worse than that.
"So, he brought some of his allies for the ride...one of the Seven, I'm guessing?" Undyne bared her teeth with a ferocious smile. She had already managed to fight one already, one focused around swords. This one seemed to revolve mostly around heat-related magic, at least so far. It was enough to where her water was slightly steaming and boiling from their presence, and how she was already feeling slightly dehydrated, before a splash of water washed over her and refreshed her nicely, thanks to Frisk. "Appreciated, bud. I'm going to kick their ass really quick!"
"You're acting like you have a chance of pulling it up, fish monster. Hopefully you don't mind being grilled!" The mage, coined Agni, declared heartily as a wave of heat blasts Undyne's way. Frisk hurriedly placed a green shield around Undyne before she was hit full force, and managed to heal some of her burn wounds while he was at it, restoring her close to full health before she got back into the clash. A spiral of water surrounded her, and she tosses it towards the mage, with their heat shield defending against the massive wave, resulting in an explosion of sheer steam that blew away both parties.
Off to the side, Toriel and Revan faced off, as flames met lightning, neither completely giving into the other. At one moment, Revan shot a thunderbolt at Toriel, which she deftly managed to dodge by moving to the side. But then Revan vanished in a flash of lightning, and suddenly before her, his dagger poised for her head. Toriel had a second to react as a burst of flames spiraling around her, and they blasted away from each other again. Toriel stumbled across the ground, crashing into the wall behind her. She slumped slightly, groaning from the sheer impact. A line of blood appeared diagonally across her face from how close it was, indicating a rather fierce wound.
"I could have pierced through your skull at that moment. It would have been swift." Revan utters while gazing at his dagger. "But I'm glad you didn't die from that. You aren't worthy of a painless end, monster." He nearly blasted her again with lightning, full force. Faryn intercepted it with her fox-fire taking on lightning, sliding across the ground as her tails swayed around her. "You're interfering with me again, hybrid?"
"Yeah. As many times as I need to." Faryn declared resolutely as she stands up, her eyes flickering to a beastly glare. Frisk was very quick to join her, his green barrier surrounding him as he prepared for the oncoming threat before him. "You're not going to hurt anyone else."
"That is not within your control."
Revan blasts a massive wave of lightning towards the duo, which Faryn holds out her hands to deflect most of it with her electric fox fire, growling as she was pushed back slightly from the sheer output of it. Frisk managed to help by pushing his green shield forward and deflecting most of the lightning heading their way. Faryn blasts a spiral of flames towards Revan in retaliation, which he waved to the side with another wave of lightning. He was briefly taken off guard when Frisk shifts to yellow soul mode, shooter mode, where a golden gun appears in his hands and fired multiple times in his direction.
He zipped around most of them with ease, but a wave of fox fire from Faryn briefly blocked his progress, allowing for three of the bullets to pierce through his shoulder. He grimaced at this while glaring angrily at the two adolescents. His face twisting into a thunderous glare, his dagger extended into an electric blade, and slashed horizontally, the blast rending the earth in front of him. Frisk formed a shield around himself and Faryn, but it was destroyed near instantly after defending against the brunt of the blast. Faryn landed on her feet, catching Frisk in her arms. He sighed as he was dropped to his feet, a slash scar appearing across his left cheek.
"Give up." Revan ordered, his gravelly voice striking like thunder.
"I refuse." Frisk calmly but resolutely declines, his hands imbued with flames as he prepared to face Revan again.
Toriel's unconscious form slumped still, as even unconsciously, she was trying to move so she could reach out and help her son. Her child. And not only that, but someone also needed to act in Alvina's defense, after hearing that her only remaining blood relative has been callously killed before her eyes. She couldn't forgive Revan for such slights; she couldn't. She needed to bring Revan down, no matter what it took. She needed to do something, she needed to act, she needed to move. No matter what it took, she needed to burn Revan away from this world so that he couldn't harm her loved ones ever again.
"...Toriel Dreemurr."
Toriel blinked as something appeared before her in a flash of light. It immediately became clear to her that she was viewing something within her mind, and what she saw before her, stunned her beyond all belief. She blinked one more time to ensure she wasn't hallucinating due to her injuries, and her eyes widened in sheer disbelief once she was sure that what she was seeing was real.
"It can't be...Freya. You're Frisk's..."
"Mhm. It's me." Freya hummed calmly with her hands clasped, her eyes closed serenely much like Frisk usually does. "I was resting, content and at peace in the afterlife. But with the last of Adam's strength, he called my soul back to this world. I already knew what this meant, that my aid was needed. So, I went to find you as soon as I could." Freya smiles softly. "So that I can help my fellow mothers. The two people who took care of Frisk when I couldn't."
Toriel wondered, as the area around them glittered and shined with the sheer potency that was Freya's soul. And it clicked immediately with Toriel as Freya held out her hands, and her soul was levitating towards her. Toriel shook her head rapidly, immediately seeing what she was getting at. "No, no. I can't. I shouldn't. You were at peace and in the afterlife. You've been deceased for years. If you let me do this, you'll..."
"I know full well what will happen to me. And I'm at peace with that. Besides, I couldn't find a better person to make this decision with. Not as a human, or as a monster. But as a person." Freya held out her hand as her soul began to pulse in-between them. "Toriel, it's okay. Stay determined. Let me help my friend, and my son, one last time. Do me this honor of doing this through you."
Toriel softly blinked, as she wiped a tear from her eye. She took a breath, as she reached out her paw and grasped her paw around Freya's hand. Freya's soul pulsed brightly within each of them, and they were surrounded by a bright flash of light.
Toriel opens her eyes once more, and she found herself levitating off of the ground, pulsing with sheer magical energy emitting from her in waves. Her dress slowly repaired itself, and her flames seemed even brighter and more refined than ever before. Her power has more than multiplied; it's become something utterly tremendous, and at the same time, improved and fine-tuned. Her eyes glittered with a reignited flame, and she held out her paws as they emitted a brighter shade or crimson red, a beautiful shade of it at that. Waves of determination filled her soul, and the pulsatating image of a red soul appeared in the center of her chest, before vanishing from view. She briefly placed her paw above her bust, as she clenched it tightly.
"...I will ensure that this gesture is not wasted. Freya...Adam." Toriel uttered, as she raised yer paw, before she turned and throws a fireball glowing crimson red.
Revan was on the verge of blasting a tired Frisk and Faryn again, before he turned around and attempted to casually block the attack but found himself utterly shocked as the flames vanished before it made contact, and completely slammed into his stomach as it appeared behind his barrier, blasting him away from Frisk and Faryn several feet. He skidded across the ground while falling to his knees, holding his side which was tinged with severe burns that were glowing from the intensities of the injuries. He looked up to glare at Toriel, but was shocked at the sudden change in her demeanor.
She looked even more determined than ever before, and she had the energy brimming from her drastically empowered soul to match. And with a bit of a closer look at to what this entails, he could sense the familiar aura that her soul was giving off, the feeling that she had just began housing a soul of immense power. The soul of one f the beings that he hated most.
"You absorbed Freya's soul...but how?" Revan demanded, in a mix of disbelief and rage.
"Adam's final act was to summon her soul back to this world. And she chose to give herself to me, so that she can live on as a part of me, while I watch over Alvina and continue to nurture Frisk. You are a dangerous obstacle to that desired future, Revan." Toriel clenched her fist as brightly glowing red flames burned with renewed passion, which reflected the sheer intensity within her eyes which sharped with a fierce glare towards her opponent, the one who caused her such grief in the past and was remorseless on attempting to do so again. "I acknowledge the fear and devastation that your lightning brings, Revan. The mercilessness of your deeds and the suddenness of them are ferocious and swift, akin to a clap of thunder. I hope you've cherished that legacy you left in your wake, up to today. And realize that I refuse to let people suffer it anymore."
This time things would be different, no one would be harmed by Revan ever again, so long as she was alive. Frisk was watching her, with the soul of his birth mother settling into her knew dwellings within her. Failure was not only an unacceptable option, but an irreconcilable shame.
"After this day is done, it will be silenced forever."
