Disclaimer I in no way own Harry potter or Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. I'm just having some fun.

2: The champion's selection
PIOUS reaches towards the Claw of Chattur'gha. Suddenly, red lightning leaps out of the artifact and fills him. It bursts out his hands and eyes and he collapsed to the ground, screaming. Some time Later, Pious grabs one of the pedestals and struggles to his feet. However, Jasmine sees he is now different. His skin is ravaged. His armor is black. The view around Jasmine fades, and she hears Pious's voice, as though from a grate distance.
"Aeons have passed since then, and I have learned much. Chattur'gha's power filled me, invigorating my dead body. With a touch, I could level buildings, rend the ground asunder, and channel power such as mortal men could only dream. Face me and you shall surely perish!"

Jasmine awakens from what seems like a dream. Gathering her wits, she glances around. Somehow, she is now in the grate hall.
"And just how did I get here" she asks herself.
Pulling out her wand, Jasmine checks the time.
"Four 30" she mutters. "Where did the time go?"
Slipping her invisibility cloak over her night clothes, Jasmine starts walking toward the exit of the grate hall. She needs to get back in bed before Filch, or 1 of the professors catch her out this early.
Just as she reaches the doors leading back out into the corridors of the school, she spots some writing above the doors that she had never seen before.
"To see the dancer,
seek the lost child,
1 who has the riddle's answer."
Jasmine frowned. "The riddle's answer? What a riddle. And what does it mean by the lost child?"
Deciding to think about its later Jasmine leaves the grate hall, and heads back to Gryffindor tower.

Throughout the day Jasmine kept an eye out for anyone who set off her senses. She still didn't know what the message meant, but she wasn't giving up just yet. Before she knew it, it was dinner time.
The hall was lit as always by floating candles. Although since they were holding a feast there were more candles lit than normal.
Jasmine glanced around the hall as she ate some shepherd's pie. The Gryffindors were chatting with each other over the latest quidditch stats. Jasmine wondered, not for the first time, why she had allowed herself to be placed in this den of nearly complete idiocy. Then she remembered that it was either this, or that pit of backstabbers known as Slytherin.
Speaking of Slytherin, Jasmine spotted the boy who thought he was her rival, Drako Malfoy holding court near the center of the table. Glancing at the others sitting near the pompous wind bag Jasmine noticed 1 of the girls subtly roll her eyes when ever Drako wasn't looking in her direction. Jasmine knew who this was, even though they had never spoken. This was the so-called ice queen of Slytherin, Daphne Greengrass.
Looking away from the Slytherin table, lest she draw Drako's attention, Jasmine next glanced at the Hufflepuff table. To her surprise she noticed 1 of the puffs sitting alone. This puzzled Jasmine. She had heard the puffs were always a closely knit bunch. So why was Susan Bones sitting apart from her housemates? Before she could look away Susan caught Jasmine's eye and blushed before looking away.
"I wonder what that's all about" Jasmine muttered to herself.
At last Jasmine's eyes landed on the Ravenclaw table. It was here she spotted a girl a year younger than her also sitting alone. She had long flowing blond hair, silvery gray eyes, and wore a necklace of some kind around her neck. She seemed to be picking at her food, while watching the rest of her table with wary eyes. It was while she was watching that Jasmine spotted what looked like a page of the tome sticking out of the girl's bag.
Before Jasmin could reflect on all she had seen, all the food vanished, and the headmaster stood, snuffing out half of the candles with a wave of his wand lowering the light level down to just above twilight.
"The Goblet is about to make its decision. I guess it requires about 1 minute. Nowe just as a reminder any whose name is chosen by the Goblet of Fire will be entered into a magical binding contract that must see that person through all of the tasks. If I call your name, will you please come up and enter the door behind the staff table here."
As soon as the headmaster finished speaking a piece of paper was shot out of the goblet. Dumbledore caught the paper and glanced at it. "The champion for Durmstrang is, Victor Crum."
Cheers rang out as the boy Jasmine had seen catch the snitch at the Quidditch World Cup stand and walk up the hall. "He doesn't look like he wants fame either" Jasmine thought as Crum disappeared behind the door behind the staff table.
Without warning the goblet spit out another piece of paper. Dumbledore caught this 1 as well, although he nearly dropped it out of surprise. "The champion for Beauxbatons is, Fleur Delacour."
Jasmine noticed most of the Beauxbatons students shooting the chosen champion dirty looks as she followed the same path as Crum. "Hum, this 1 doesn't seem very well liked by her schoolmates. I wonder why that is."
As soon as Delacour had disappeared behind the door, the goblet shot out another piece of paper. This time Dumbledore was ready for it and caught the paper with ease. "The champion for Hogwarts is, Sedric Diggory."
Jasmine was the only 1 to notice as Sedric walked up the aisle between the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw tables that the Goblet of Fire had gone out.
"Thank Morgana. I was worried I would be pulled into this stupid tournament."
At last, the cheering died down. As the headmaster gave a speech about supporting each of the champions, Jasmine's mind turned to the adventure she was already involved in. "Now I just need to find the next chapter."
Jasmine's thoughts were interrupted as the headmaster finally noticed the goblet's flames had gone out. Nobody else was watching, but Jasmine noticed the headmaster's eyes widen then narrow in Jasmine's direction. "Oh well" she thought. At least they couldn't force her into the competition now.
With that thought Jasmine followed the other Gryffindors out of the hall.

The grate hall was empty as Albus Dumbledore checked over the Goblet of Fire. He was sure Jasmine Potter's name had been entered into the goblet for the tournament, but for some reason her name hadn't been chosen. What was going on, and how could he take advantage of whatever it was?

An: and that's the chapter. Those that have read my other stories will have noticed that I kept Jasmine out of the tournament. Jasmine has something far worse to worry about than Voldemort, and keeping Jasmine out of the tournament is something I only see in oneshots, not a multi chapter story. Anyway next chapter Jasmine will meet her first partner, and we will see the second chapter of the Tome of Eternal Darkness. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, and I will see you all next time.
