Chapter 12

"Elsa, I Need You to Fight"

Arriving in the Enchanted Forest, I had no idea of what Elsa was going to say on account that I was asking her to temporarily return to her former position as Queen of Arendelle. For some time, we had been visiting each other regularly, but this visit would be no different from the others…at least in my mind.

"Elsa!" I cried as she arrived on her frozen horse, seemingly sensing our arrival. "Elsa, how did you know we were coming?"

"Instincts, Anna," she replied, getting off her horse. "And a little frozen bird told me that there is a growing threat against our kingdom again. Who is it this time? Hans?"

"No, Elsa," I stammered. "It's not just our kingdom, it's all of Europe. Napoleon…"

"Napoleon Bonaparte? The guy that overthrew Louis XVII and killed him?"

This was a surprise for me to hear that Elsa would call Napoleon as a "guy." As Queen of Arendelle, she never had that kind of language in her vocabulary. But, there's always a first.

"Yes, that guy, Elsa," I said. "That's why I must ask something of you…even though you probably aren't going to like this."

Elsa then had a look on her face that meant she wasn't going to like what I would have to say. I couldn't just force her to fight. In fact, Elsa was one of those who didn't like being forced what to do.

She then turned around and proceeded to walk back into the forest with us following. As we walked, the spirits of the forest went about doing their usual thing of just being themselves.

"Anna, I know why you are here," Elsa remarked, as we proceeded to walk towards a frozen pond with our reflections in the water. "You want me to become queen again."

"Only temporarily," I said, trying to remain stedfast. "Many of our fellow rulers in Europe are being forced to either sever him or pay with their lives. Ariel and Eric…"

"What about them?" Elsa asked, turning around to face me. "Are they being threatened too?"

"Not yet, but they will be eventually."

"Mad King Frederick?" Elsa wondered, remembering of a growing threat that was going on inside of Denmark, even before she became queen. "Is he at it again?"

"He is, at least according to the latest intelligence."

Olaf looked at us with a sense of confusion.

"Who is made King Frederick?" the snowman asked. "Is he mad?"

"He's not just mad, Olaf," Elsa answered, using her ice powers to draw up memories of before she became queen. "Shortly before my coronation as Queen, there were rumors of him intending to seize Arendelle for himself…make it part of Denmark."

"But what about Hans? Your ex-boyfriend?" Kristoff asked. "Does he fit into this?"

"I don't know if he was," I answered, shrugging my shoulders. "But if he was, then he was probably planning to kill him after he would do away with us."

Hearing Hans' name let alone thinking of him made me develop a shiver down my spine, reminding myself of the true frozen heart that any of us have come to know.

"Elsa, all I'm saying is that I can't do this alone," I protested, trying to reach through to her. "I need you to temporarily assume the throne again. If King Frederick and Napoleon are both plotting to take Arendelle along with the rest of Europe…"

"Don't forget the Spanish, Anna," Kristoff added.

"Them too," I continued. "But Napoleon and Frederick are our greatest threat. If they conquer Arendelle, then they will try and kill us. If they kill me, who knows what they will do to you, Elsa, and this entire forest, too."

Turning her back to us, Elsa pondered the scenario that laid before her. So much was at stake, not just for us, but for her too.

"Not everyone believes that I was born with ice powers," Elsa said, stroking her elbows. "They think I am a sorceress."

"Well, you are," remarked Olaf. "But in a good way."

Elsa couldn't help but smile slightly at our snowman friend.

"Elsa, this could be the chance for you to get the world to know that you are who you are," I said, trying to use this confession to my advantage. "But if you aren't going to do it for me, do it at least for Ariel and Eric."

"Anna, I'll fight for you, even die trying to protect you," Elsa cried, clutching my hands with hers. "But what if we die…?"

"Then we'll die together," I answered. "But you will die not just as a magical protector of this forest, but a queen as well. And besides, all these spirits could be at the mercy of the enemy."

Elsa considered everything for a moment before taking a deep breath and sighing.

"All right, if it's only temporary, then I will become Queen of Arendelle."

"Co-Queen. Remember who is in charge of Arendelle right now."

Elsa produced a small chuckle and now that my sister was onboard, attention was now going to shift towards dealing with the dual threat going on in Europe.
