PAST

There was glass shattered all over the hotel kitchen floor. It was a disastrous sight. Hermione couldn't afford to pay for the table, hell she couldn't afford to keep an apartment. They were staying in this one-bedroom motel for a couple of weeks because Hermione had just been let go from her last job because she failed to provide a vaccination card, which she had forgotten at her parents' house oh so long ago. It was surely an accident. Rose was only four, and she had been left alone for just over seven hours; she was bound to become antsy, and Hermione didn't blame her. Hermione felt such a deep shame every day, when Hermione left Rose alone in the cramped motel room, with a couple of toys and books, leaving the TV on. She had to do what she had to survive and provide for herself and her daughter, but it was times like these when she pondered what Hermione was thinking of keeping Rose, and keeping her in these conditions. She had just worked a long shift with pushy customers and a nagging boss. She wanted to come home to Rose asleep, but instead, she was on the floor crying.

"Mummy, Mummy, I'm sowwy I didn't mean to, I was just trying to race myself when I broke the table." Rose pleaded as Hermione stood with her hands on her hips. Hermione couldn't be mad at Rose, she couldn't expect her to just stay still the entire time, children were bound to play, and be balls of energy which Rose certainly was, so she couldn't get mad at her she had to get mad at herself. If Rose were to fall into the shards of glass she could get severely hurt, how could Hermione not think of this?

"No it's alright Rosie, mummy will fix this. Why don't you go run the bath and get all of your favorite bath toys? I'll fix the table, everything will be alright. " Hermione offered. Rose's face lit up at the mention of a bath. She could spend all the hours of her days in the bath.

"Okay," Rose replied excitedly running to the small cramped bathroom. Then Hermione got down on her knees and reached for the safety case that she brought to every place she had lived, of which there were eight places. She then heard the sound of the bath water running. She entered the code which no one in this world could know and then grabbed the wand within it. She had only used the wand a handful of times. Throughout these four years, they were only used in desperate measures, and this was a desperate measure. If she had to spend a hundred pounds on a damn motel table, she wouldn't be able to pay for this room if she spent her money on that. Hermione then approached the hazardous glass and aimed her wand at the scattered elements.

"Reparo," Hermione muttered under her breath. At her words, the glass began to lift from the carpet floor and repair back into its original form. After the process is finished Hermione sighs and places her wand back into the safe, locking it, then placing it back in its place under the bed. She still heard "Rose, is the water full enough?"

"No," Rose answered quaintly, leaving the water to continue to flow. Hermione didn't believe her daughter so she walked towards the bathroom to find the bath almost overflowing with water, toys, and bubbles.

"Rosie baby you can't let it get this full. First of all, we cannot afford to take baths this full every time and secondly, it can overflow. Only let it get to about halfway. That's right there. Does that sound alright?"

"Yes, Mummy," Rose replied, nodding.

"Are you ready for a bath?"

"Alright now you're all clean, mummy's gonna take her shower. Then I'll warm up some meat and cheese." Rose was too distracted playing with her toys to reply when about 5 minutes into the shower she heard a shout.

"Mummy the table!"

"Yup, Mummy's magic what else can I say?" Hermione shouted back, at which she heard a giggle. Oh, how little Rose knew. When Hermione finished her shower she put the single Kraft mac and cheese, in the microwave, then when it was finished, she split the food in half and put them into plastic bowls she was running out of. When she handed the bowl to Rose she looked displeased but didn't say anything.

"Rosie, is there something wrong?" Hermione pondered.

"I'm really hungry," Rose admitted. Hermione then looked down at the extremely small amount of food she was feeding her child. This was the last cup she had, there was no other food she had, they had just had mac and cheese all week because that was all Hermione could find within her limited price range for the week. Earlier in the week Hermione and Rose each got one cup but today she fell short. Hermione hadn't eaten all day besides the raisins and granola she had this morning. Before she left for work she made sure Rose was full with all of the food she could eat, then she left Rose with bananas within her reach, so she could feed herself throughout the day. Hermione's stomach hurt from how little she ate today. It hurt to walk. This day left Hermione extremely guilt-ridden.

"Oh, silly don't feel bad for being hungry here, have the rest of mine. I ate a great deal at work. I'll be fine." Hermione lied, then immediately dumped all of her food onto Rose's plate.

"Are you sure?" Rose asked innocently, not wanting to upset her mother.

"Yes of course, do you want to watch the Great British Bake Off?" Hermione asked teasingly to cheer Rose up. On accident one day Hermione left on the cooking channel instead of the kid's channel when she left for work, ever since then Rose has developed a love for the Great British Bake Off.

"Yes, of course" Rose responded like this was a given.

PRESENT

"Mum look, look, this contestant just dropped all of her cupcakes on the floor," Rose laughed at the TV from the luxuriously comfortable living room sofa. Hermione sat on the other edge of the sofa deep into her laptop writing something for work, which she told Rose was a lie. Hermione was fitting a day off into her schedule so she could go visit the wizarding world, she could repair all that she broke sixteen years ago.

"Mmmhmm" Hermione replied clearly not listening. Rose then quickly became annoyed at her mum's lack of attention so she did what she could to get her attention.

"A bunch of guys asked for my number today," Rose blurted.

"How cool," Hermione responded, again not listening.

"Yeah, they all were like 'Oh Rose come over tonight' and I was like 'I can't, I have to spend time with my mum who doesn't even listen to me'" Rose declared sarcastically.

"That's nice" Hermione added mindlessly. At that Hermione left the room to go upstairs back to her room, giving up her efforts. When Hermione saw Rose was gone she pulled out the Dailey Prophet that she was hiding between the sofa cushions. She continued to reread what she read at least fifteen times since she got the paper.

THE DAILY PROPHET JUST IN HARRY POTTER & CO FINALLY DEFEATS VOLDEMORT AFTER 34 YEARS

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Harry Potter has strongly advocated for the abolishment of blood hate groups and discriminatory blood laws which Harry promises as part of his victory he will make happen. He has fought to find the missing half-bloods and muggle-borns, all these years alongside his good counterpart Ron Weasley who has been responsible for finding the truth of what happened to over 1000 missing and murdered muggle-borns and half-bloods, bringing justice to many relieved and grieving families. We can say confidently that the death eaters have been finally disempowered and jailed, who were responsible for many of the kidnappings and disappearances of innocent muggle-borns and half-bloods.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

Harry Potter finally finished the mission that the great Dumbledore assigned him just over 16 years ago, by slowly but surely finding all seven Horcruxes which honestly none of us believed he could do, especially after losing so many of his allies both to death and abandonment. But he did persevere and he didn't accomplish this alone, the Hero is not too prideful to admit to the help of his friends, he credits in one interview that he has been successful only due to the support of his loyal friends and he calls his "found family", more specifically he credits the Weasley Family, his new wife Ginevra Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Professor Mcgonagal, Now dead Remus Lupin Luna and her father Xenophilius Lovegood, and lastly "all those he has lost along the way". We can't help but honor Potter for not only his Heroism but his humility. He is so down to earth and he makes us feel like he's just one of our mates, not The Chosen One.

Each time Hermione read the article she felt more proud of Harry. She knew right now he was celebrating with those close to him. She knew he must have felt so relieved to finally be at peace because he had never been all of these years. She yearned to be with him right now, tell him how proud she was of him, and apologize deeply for abandoning him all those years ago. Hermione pined to know what he had been up to all of these years. She pined to know how his and Ginny's wedding was. But Hermione couldn't dwell all of her days on what could've been. She had a new life now, which sadly didn't involve him or Ron. Hermione lived two lives, one before Rose with her family, friends, and the wizarding world, and her second life was her life with Rose. The two lives were never connected. There was never a moment of sameness between the two lives, the two worlds. Although she sacrificed and struggled so much for her new life she honored and loved it just as much as she loved her "easy" life. She was a mother first, and second now, and she dedicated her life to Rose. Although Rose didn't always see that, Hermione loved Rose first. Hermione structured her entire life around Rose, which she wasn't ashamed of but Hermione felt resentment for. She was turning sixteen in a couple of weeks and was begging for independence at every opportunity she could, but that's just what all teenagers do right? It wasn't that Rose needed her mother less. That could never be the case, right? Rose does something every day that reinstates she could never survive independently, and that she of course couldn't survive without her mother. It was just a couple of months ago on the first day of summer break when Rose lied about where she was going and went cliff diving with her friends then sprained her ankle. Then she spent three days hiding her sprained ankle by wearing long socks and walking on a growing infected hurt foot but she couldn't hide the limping. Hermione soon caught onto Rose's act so when Rose was exhausted from a day at the pool and took a nap, Hermione took off the socks to find Rose's once pale white ankle turned green and purple. Rose woke up from her nap to the sounds of Hermione throwing up in the kitchen sink from the sight. Rose was grounded for three weeks after that. But Rose was growing older, and Hermione couldn't just ignore that. What would be of Hermione's life when Rose moves out? She can't use being Rose's mother as an excuse for the rest of the time. Could she return to her old life? Now that oppression and violence against muggle-borns and half-bloods are being eradicated, Hermione knew she needed to return to her old life, to make amends. Ron deserved to know Rose, Rose deserved a father. She knew what she had to do.

She needed to go to the burrow.
