With the 100th Games quickly approaching, the excitement for the Games has reached record levels. Katniss struggles to be happy for Annie and Finnick in District 4 for reasons that make her uncomfortable to think about. When she learns of Annie's death, she has to confront that discomfort in ways that she never imagined.

The 75th Hunger Games are announced. To prove the powerlessness of even the beloved victors, the Tributes are chosen from the families of previous victors. Panem is prepared to grieve the loss of Primrose Everdeen. The Rebellion is posed to use it. But there was a victor before Haymitch and her daughter will make a choice no one is prepared for.

Katniss and Peeta have been eliminated and Panem has now reached a new quarter quell: "As a reminder to the rebels of the children who were made orphans during the rebellion, parents with at least one child under age 19 will be sent into the arena." With this twist being President Celestia Snow's first Quarter Quell, will she be able to hold the nation together?

There's a difference between living and surviving. Those in the Capitol might live, but those in the districts never get the chance to. It is their children who will be reaped, sent off to be slaughtered for the enjoyment of their oppressors. They will starve and grow sick. And who helps them? Who cares? Nobody. The arena is no place for love, especially when the one you fall for is only looking for the fastest way to snap your neck. I knew that love in the Hunger Games wasn't safe, evidently I was too blinded to remember.
