Prologue

One night in the town of Mobius, there is a palace located near a beach. This belonged to a wealthy King, Queen, and their only child, who is a Prince.

The King's name is Jules, who is a dark cobalt blue hedgehog, with light green eyes, and a blue fringe. He wore a red cloak, a red tunic, brown boots, and he wore a crown around his head, that which indicates his place in the palace as King.

The Queen's name is Aleena, who is a violet coloured hedgehog, with long dark purple hair, and emerald green eyes. She wore a yellow clock, a pearl white dress, white shoes, and she also wore a crown on her head, which represents her place in the palace as queen.

And the Prince's name is Sonic, who is a normal shade of cobalt blue hedgehog, and emerald green eyes just like his mother. He wore a sky blue coloured tunic, red boots with a white stripe on the foot locked in place with a gold buckle, and like his mother and father, he also wore a crown on his head, which represents his place in the palace as the Prince.

"Are you looking forward to meeting your bride to be, Sonic?" Aleena asked.

"I'm not sure, Mom. Like, don't you think you're rushing me into marriage? I have never even met her before, nor do I know what she's like." Sonic wondered.

"We know it feels rushed, Sonic. And we know you want to marry someone you feel a connection with, but me and your mother are not getting any younger. So the sooner you take over as king, the least we have to worry about it later." Jules explained.

"I know, Dad. But even then, I'm not sure if I'm ready." Sonic sadly stated.

"You'll be ready, my darling. You'll see." Aleena smiled.

She then kissed Sonic's cheek in support, while Jules placed a hand on Sonic's shoulder. Meanwhile, they heard trumpets being played by the front gate of the palace.

"Your Majesties! The Royal Acorn family have arrived in your Kingdom, and are approaching the gates!" the gatekeeper called.

"Oh, really? Well, you know what to do, my good man. Open the gate!" Jules called out.

And without any hesitation, the gatekeeper pulled on the wheel to open the gate. The gate slowly opened, and as soon as the gate fully opened, a white acorn shaped carriage made its way through the gate, and inside the palace walls.

Now that the carriage is inside the palace walls, the carriage stops in the front yard of the building. And while Jules, Aleena and Sonic were making their way towards the carriage, three figures came out of the carriage, once one of the servants opened the carriage door.

First to come out was a tall squirrel named King Nigel Acorn. He has sky blue eyes, brown fur, red hair, red moustache, and a long bushy tail. He wore a blue tunic with gold shoulder pads, blue boots, and a gold crown on his head.

Next was a chipmunk named Queen Alicia Acorn. She had brown fur, long orange hair, and dark blue eyes. She wore a long orange dress, brown shoes, gold hairband, and also wearing a gold crown.

And last, but certainly not least, there was another female chipmunk, a little more shorter than Alicia, and her name is Princess Sally Acorn. She had brown fur, short hair that has a fringe, and sky blue eyes. She wore a long purple dress, with purple shoes, and a gold crown on her head. The three hedgehogs approached the Acorn family to greet them.

"It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Sir Nigel." Jules greeted.

He approached Nigel, and he shook his hand.

"Pleasure is all mine, Sir Jules." replied Nigel.

"Welcome to our palace, Lady Alicia." Aleena greeted.

She friendly exchanged European style kisses to each of Alicia's cheeks.

"Absolute pleasure to be here, Lady Aleena." Alicia replied.

Sonic gulped nervously, as he looked at Sally. But it wasn't due to lust, it was due to him not knowing what to expect. But he shook off, and took a bow in front of Sally.

"It's nice to meet you, Milady. I am Prince Sonic the Hedgehog, of Mobius." Sonic started.

Sally chuckled to herself, and she did a curtsy towards Sonic.

"Nice to meet you also, Misour Sonic. My name is Princess Sally of Nuthole. Now seeing who my King to be is, I now know that my life is gonna lead to a happy life." Sally stated.

"Uh, yeah. Likewise." Sonic replied, trying to sound honest.

"And for some bizarre reason, Jules, because we were so bored while traveling, we started telling stories about Merhogs." Nigel said.

"Mehogs?" Jules wondered.

"Yes. Apparently these are a mythical sea creature of legend thousands of years ago, that were claimed to have been spotted. People believe they are real, some believe they're just a myth." Nigel explained.

"What do they look like?" Aleena wondered.

"They're said to look like hedgehogs from the waist up, but fishtail from the waist down. But I don't see how they would be real." Nigel mentioned.

"Oh, of course not, my friend. After all, it's an urban legend. It's all a myth." he replied.

"But even if they were real, why would it matter? What would we do with them, if they did exist?" Sonic cut into the conversation.

"Well, good question, young Prince. If they were real, we won't do them any harm. Unless they're as dangerous as sharks, then we will also kill them, or just capture them for seeing how they function." Nigel replied.

"Anyway, we all had a rough journey. I think it's time we head off to bed. We shall talk more in the morning." Alicia stated.

"That's absolutely fine. You'll need the rest after that long journey." Aleena responded.

"Well, my handsome Prince to be, I shall see you tomorrow. Can't wait till the day we are married." Sally stated, and as she winked.

She then walked away, along with her parents. As they went to their rooms, Jules and Aleena approached Sonic.

"So, what did you think of her, Sonic?" Jules asked.

"Not gonna lie to you, she is beautiful, but she seems a little too forward. Like, we only met for like five minutes, and she's already talking about how happy her future is gonna be now she's marrying me, when she hardly even knows me, and I know nothing of her." Sonic nervously responded.

"That's a good thing, isn't it? She is taken to you." Aleena wondered.

"That's not the point, Mom. The fact she said she's looking forward to marrying me, makes me wonder if she's marrying me for who I am as a person, or how I look." Sonic sadly stated.

"My son, I know you mean well. But we are running out of options, and this is our last chance. I'm not trying to be harsh on you, Sonic. I never have been. But I want our famaly legacy to continue, and this is our final chance to allow it." Jules softly told him.

"I know you do, Dad. I just need more time with her. I mean, it's not like we're getting married tomorrow. Gives me more time to see what she's like. "Sonic told him.

"Just have a think about it, sweetheart." Aleena told Sonic, softly.

"Try and get some sleep, son. Goodnight." Jules told him.

"I'll be there soon, Dad. Just need some air by myself for a while." Sonic responded.

Jules nodded. After that, Jules and Aleena made their way towards their bedroom, while Sonic walked towards the back of the palace towards its own personal beach.

"It doesn't feel right. I don't think she wants to marry me for who I am. I want to marry someone for me, and love me for who I am. What if there is someone else out there for me? Someone who will accept me for who I am?" Sonic wondered.

Sonic kept walking towards the beach, and sighed sadly.

.

(Sonic singing)

We were wrapped up in this blanket

Red wine buzz now kicks in

A little Mobian moonlight

The wood fire's burning

.

She's on a break from Mobius State

And they were down there selling para sail rides

Just another summer day

Until I strapped her in and watching her fly

.

Talk about a sunset

All I can see are purples and reds

And her silhouette waving goodbye

She did not come here looking for love

And the cool thing was

Neither was I

And neither was I

.

She dipped right into the water

As I slow down, holding that line

Wet t-shirt on a two piece

We ditch the boat, and hung outside

.

As we walk ankle deep in ocean

You know, the place where footprints disappear

Just like that evening, she drives away

It will be burned in my mind for a million years

.

Talk about a sunset

All I can see are purples and reds

And her silhouette waving goodbye

She did not come here looking for love

And the cool thing was

Neither was I

.

Talk about a sunset

All I could see were purples and reds

And her silhouette wavin' goodbye

She didn't come there lookin' for love

And the cool thing was

Neither was I

.

But neither was I

Ooh ooh, ooh ooh

.

Sonic then sat on the sand, and stared into the ocean, and sighs nervously.

"Nigel said something about a mythical sea creature called a Merhog. What if they're not an urban legend? What if they weren't a myth? And what if they actually do exist?" Sonic wondered.
