Phase 31: Sewer Surfing Pt 1
Ren is not happy with the current conditions of his saferoom with his lovely city falling to the undead and monsters. "I am struck within this hellhole, I want to take my funds and get out of here but crossing the Overseer is not a good idea," Ren said as he looked through the cameras within his building.
"Once we kill off those buggers in my city. We can keep this place a secret and I can get out of here," Ren said as he had one of the keys to the Redford Lab complex deep underground.
Elsewhere the Overseer and Linda are overseeing the training center and see the Valkyries working together to go through firing ranges. "I don't trust Ren to keep his end of the bargain," Linda said.
"Yes, he is unstable. His actions made the city a perfect cover making it harder to get to the main lab complex but this could be used against us. He can make a deal with the Americans to save his skin," Overseer said.
"He will be dealt with, how about your dream city Paradise?" Linda asked.
"Perfect, it's coming up swimmingly. It's all coming together, once the world is in flames. We will gather our resources and plan for the future there," the Overseer said.
"The world is covered in delusions and falsehood. Your leadership will be needed to reshape the world into something much better," Linda said.
"Yes groups like the Northern Stars and New Dawn don't deserve to be within my new world," the Overseer said.
"Of course, we will be there to aid you in shaping it," Linda said as they kept their plans in movement.
Back with Rachel and others, the others are tired but she is full of energy and ready to go. "You guys can take a break, I will go after the first key which is nearby in the sewer systems underneath the city," Rachel said.
"I heard about the sewers here; they are quite large in scale. Better be careful, who knows what crawls down there," Elza said.
"I will keep that in mind," Rachel said as she went into the Armory to switch out her loadout to the full assault variant which has her fully kitted out M8A2 assault rifle, MAG7 pocket shotgun, and XDM pistol. She puts on a suppressor which helps dampen the sounds, raises accuracy, and lessens the recoil making it shoot like a laser.
"Well Sunshine, good luck out there," Jack said to kiss her on the lips.
"I will be back before you know it," she said with a smile as she got out the window to leap onto the streets to see a bunch of Ooze to flip the magnifier of her hybrid sight only using the holo sight. She places quiet shots into the bodies and heads of the Oozes to kill them off.
"Okay Rachel, from the map. There should be a manhole you can use to get into the sewers from there," Elza said.
"Thank E, I will get there right away," Rachel said as she went around the corner to see an Ooze Brute smashing through cars and tossing them to the side. "Calm down big boy, I just want to get past," she said as the beast emitted a big shriek to charge at her.
She rolls to the side to dodge the strike as the Brute crashes through the building leaving a hole behind. She loads a flame round into the rifle's M320 to set the beast on fire. The Ooze screams to rush in as Rachel kicks a car to see it speed towards the Brute to stop it in its tracks.
She lobs another flame round to engulf the beast and the car. The flames lit up the gas within the car making it explode blasting the Brute apart. "Gee, smells like burned rotten fish," she said as she looked to see a manhole nearby to pull it open.
She sees a ladder which she grabs and heads down inside. "So, you are tracking down the first one. Miss Busty?" Peter asked on the radio.
"Oh, hey there, yeah I am going inside the sewers," she said.
"What are you using?" he asked as Rachel landed on the solid ground for a foul smell hit her nose.
"Goodness, this scent is insane," she said feeling uneasy from the nasty smell. "I am using the M8A2 assault rifle as my main gun," she said.
"Oh, that weapon has an interesting history," Peter said.
"All I know is that this weapon replaced the M16/M4 family of rifles in 2007. What's so special about it?" she asked.
"Well, this was born from the events of Raccoon City," Peter said as Rachel groaned at this.
"Everything seems to come from that," Rachel said.
"For good reason, this is the first time the US has engaged with bioweapons at a mass scale. Various data and research have shown army reports about soldiers engaging zombies and other bioweapons within the city while trying to figure out the crisis at hand. The M16/M4 along with its ammo the 556 were not effective against the undead and other monsters within the streets of Raccoon City," Peter said as Rachel remembered about her training with how to deal with zombies and other bioweapon threats effectively and swiftly as possible.
"Makes sense, those weapons and ammo were developed to fight a different enemy back in the day. Even in the early 2000s, they were showing their age," Rachel said.
"Yes so the US military wanted a standard issue rifle and ammo which can push the military into the 21st century battlefield. So, army weapon testing started in the early 2000s to replace the M16 family of rifles. There was the German-made XM8 prototype which is based on the G36 platform with various improvements and changes from the original design," Peter said as Rachel looked down onto her rifle which is hardy and light.
"It is a handsome gun to be sure," Rachel said as she began to go down the tight corridor to see running water down the middle flowing with dank sewage.
"Indeed, it is. They developed the 6.8x4.3mm SPC ammo which was created to surpass the 5.56 rounds putting out 50 percent more energy than the old 5.56 while maintaining excellent stopping power at close range and still hitting hard at longer ranges. Both the XM8 Rifle and the 6.8 SPC ammo developed along with each other making the original M8 rifle in 2007. Giving the common US soldier a flexible yet strong rifle in the modern fight against bioweapons and foreign/domestic threats alike," Peter said.
"Makes sense, this thing hits pretty hard. The 6.8 SPC has the power between 556 and 762 rounds, potent and modern," Rachel said.
"Great choice by the military to up our guns to meet the challenges of the modern world after Raccoon City. The newest model the M8A2 has big improvements like the new custom suppressors gaining them better accuracy and tightening up the recoil making its laser focus, new smart scopes to allow soldiers to hit further than our enemies, new 6.8 SPC ammo which can tear through the highest known military-grade body armors, 4 position tactical rails and new ACR based stock which can fold, retractable in several positions and an adjustable cheek well making it very comfortable to shoot," Peter said.
"Only the best for our troops," Rachel said.
"Sorry about unloading like that, weapons' development post Raccoon City is very interesting," Peter said.
"It's no problem, I got my nerdy interests too. I thought they developed a portable railgun acting like a sniper rifle," Rachel said feeling interested in how that would work.
"Yeah, Umbrella made some experimental weapons that got into the military space. Very interesting stuff, better keep moving. You are going to need that rifle since there are some nasty things down there," Peter said.
"I can handle it," Rachel said as she looked down the hallway to only hear running sewage water and moans in the distance. "Pretty tight down here," she thought.
"Well, I will call you if anything comes up. Good hunting out there," Peter said as Rachel nodded her head to go through another hallway to see a bunch of Ooze within the waterway.
"Away buggers," she said placing shots onto the heads of the Oozes to put them down to see a Sea Creeper pop out of the water to slam into Rachel. "Damn it," she said to knock the water fiend away to put rounds into its body to shed blood onto the walls. She sees more Sea Creepers in the water down the middle of the waterway.
"Gee," she said as she switched to her pistol to be able to use her agility better. She kicks an incoming Sea Creeper back onto the floor to put 10mm rounds into its exposed stomach easily tearing up its body. The Sea Creepers let out weird groans trying to jump onto her wanting her sweet flesh.
She slides under the barrage of leaping monsters to put precise shots with her XDM pistol taking them out in mid-air. She kicks the Sea Creeper into a wall and stabs her Tanto into its exposed belly. "What an ugly girl," she thought as she went into a set of rooms hearing machinery in the background.
"No water but the sewage is etched into the air," she thought as she pulled out her MAG-7 mini shotgun to see a doorway blocked by several pieces of debris. She begins to pull away the pieces to hear something behind her as she swings around to aim her MAG-7 to see several Abyss Lurkers appearing wanting to swallow her whole.
"Down froggers, down," she said as she dodged incoming tongues with her blasting buckshots into their heads to tear open their bodies. One of the mutant frogs leaps towards Rachel to kick it to break its skull instantly killing it on impact. She wields both her Tanto and pistol to blast and slice apart any froggers in her way.
She cleared out the rest with her pocket shotgun to see the whole room was covered with blood and guts. "Nasty," she thought as some blood got onto her navy blue bodysuit. She gets the debris out of the way to enter through the doorway.
"Please someone help me," a citizen shouted.
"Oh, someone is down here," Rachel runs at full speed to head for the screaming. She arrives at the room to see a person getting gutted by a weird shark-like humanoid via its bone-like spear attached to its arm.
"Oh, gee these things.Scarmiglione, a shark humanoid with a bony spear and a shell-like arm shield. Like a twisted mutant knight," she said as she opened fire for its hull around its shoulders and neck is as tough as an armored vehicle not showing any damage. "I need to strike its head or midsection, it's vulnerable there," she thought.
She raises her rifle as the bioweapon raises its shield arm to block the incoming bullets not being able to pierce the thick dense arm shield. It rushes in to bash her with the shield to knock her onto the floor. It lunges forward with its bony spear arm about to stab her face.
She rolls away from the shark humanoid and she fires onto its midsection to hurt it as it holds its shield to block her shots to cover its weak point. She pulls out a MAG-7 to lob a few Dragon's Breath shells into the monster to set it on fire.
The Scarmiglione screams in pain to start swinging its long bony arm spear trying to slice her to pieces. She draws out her Tanto dagger to deflect and parry its strikes to kick it away to fire rounds from her M8A2 into its torso until it splits apart. The upper half is on the floor while the lower body is still standing with a long tentacle coming out emitting electricity.
"Not good," Rachel said as the lower half lunged forward to strike Rachel with its tentacle giving her a painful shock. She screams in pain to have her muscles stiffen to drop her rifle onto the floor. The upper half tackles Rachel to bash her with its shield to knock her across the room.
"Shit, that hurts," she said as she feels her body healing the damage from the electric shock. She draws her XDM pistol to take out the lower half with the upper half trying to stab her but she managed to avoid the attack. She puts several rounds into its head putting it down.
"That was close," Rachel said as she took her fallen rifle to put it on her back. She can hear the moaning to see the man who was cut in half on the floor. His guts and blood flowed into the concrete floor as she approached him to see fear in his eyes.
"You, you are one of those women who can't be killed. Monster," the man moaned not wanting to be near her.
"Sir, I wanted to help you," Rachel said as the man showed hatred for her in his wounded eyes.
"You can't help but let me die in peace," the man said as he went limp seeing no light within his dead eyes.
"He must be talking about the Valkyries. Yo Peter, did you hear reports about the Valkyries and their actions within the city?" she asked on the radio.
"Oh yeah, those hard bitches are wiping out pockets of people trying to survive the T-Abyss outbreak here. A lot of them went into the sewers which runs very deep underground. Perfect place to hide and seek shelter but more Ooze types, bioweapons and Valkyries came in soon after and wiped them out," Peter said.
"That is terrible, no matter if he was scared of me. I can't blame him, those Valkyries are quite scary," Rachel said.
"It's all the fault of Ren, the mayor of this city. Infecting the city with the T-Abyss virus. He works with the Connections but he only cares about himself. He will betray the Connections if it means saving his skin," Peter said.
"We need to deal with him at some point," Rachel said.
"Yes, there are five keys. He has one of them once you grab the four keys. You need to find his safe house and wipe him out," Peter said.
"First I need to find this first key," Rachel said as she went through the tight hallway to hear something nearby. "What is that?" he wondered as she saw the Wall Blister fall from the ceiling to roar at her from behind. Then another one popped up in front sandwiching her between them. Both monsters rush in trying to crush Rachel as she fires her shots into the Wall Brister's face putting it down.
She enters into a slide to fire her M8A2 at it and slips between its legs. She gets behind it as the beast falls onto the ground dead from the gunshots to the face.
"Do not like these buggers," she said as she keeps moving to be within a large area which is knee-high with dirty water. "Good, good thing my suit is waterproof," she said as she went into the water the smell becoming unbearable.
She sees Abyss Lurkers and Abyss Gamma 1s leaping out of the water using their tongues trying to latch onto Rachel's body. She does their attacks to look through the Hybrid sight to kill off the frog mutants putting 6.8mm rounds into their skulls.
"So many froggers," she leaps on top of a dry pile to lob a shock grenade into the water frying the bioweapons with electricity. She sees Sea Creepers and Abyss Lurkers coming out of the pipes nearby to track her down. "I need to get to the other side," she said as she got back into the water to mow her way through the bioweapons trying to bite and slash into her.
She managed to push them back and wipe them out with a burst of bullets or stabs from her Tanto dagger. "So annoying," she thought as she was blazing her assault rifle to cut down the incoming bioweapons. One of the Lurker leaps towards Rachel but she kicks it in mid-air to break its body on impact.
"Almost on the other side," Rachel said as she shoved a Sea Creeper away to hop on a platform. She tosses her last shock grenade to zap everything in the watery area killing them off.
"Hey Sunshine, how are you doing down there?" Jack asked.
"I am fine so far. Went through sewage, not great. I will live that," Rachel said.
"Yeah, going through shit water would put someone in a bad mood," Jack said as Rachel laughs at his silly joke.
"Yeah I am going to take a shower after this mission," Rachel said.
"Indeed, I heard from Peter that there were rouge Bioweapons down that which could be quite nasty. Hope you are ready," he said as Rachel put new dual magazines into her rifle.
"Big sister, I have found you," a familiar voice said with Rachel not happy to hear this.
"Not you again, little sister," Rachle said as the Rachel Ooze slitters through a pipe to appear before her.
"I am so happy to see you, let me give you a big wet kiss," the Valkyrie Ooze shows her long sucker out of the slip from her forehead.
"Damn it," she unloads a ton of bullets to tear into her body with her still coming with reckless abandonment. All her wounds are rapidly healing with Rachel running away from her.
"Come on big sis, don't be shy. I don't bite, much," Rachel Ooze said as she aimed her arm to shoot out bone spikes to strike her back but her armored vest easily blocked it.
"Oh, she can shoot bone arrows like those Tricornes can," she thought as she turned around to see several Oozes blocking her path. "I don't have time for this," she rapidly places precise shots into the heads of the Oozes.
Two Arrowheads appear as she puts her 6.8 SPC rounds into the heads of the two Arrowheads. She does so much damage with the powerful rounds that the Arrowheads' healing factor can't keep up and dies from her assault.
"I don't want these, big sister. I want your blood. Your sweet, tasty blood," Rachel Ooze said as she used her raw speed to bounce off the walls to tackle Rachel knocking her onto the floor.
"Crap, she is fast Rachel turns around to aim her gun but the Valkyrie Ooze slaps it away. She tosses a flashbang to blind her as she draws her MAG-7 pocket shotgun to load up triple buckshot shells which have three times the pellets within the shells.
She pumps all five shells into the Valkyrie Ooze's body with blood and pus scattering all over the place. She loads up dragon's breath shells into the gun. "It hurts," Rachel Ooze moans as Rachel fires at her to set her ablaze. "Sister!" she screamed to run towards the water wanting to put out the flames.
"Time to get out of here," she said as she grabbed her rifle to make a full run trying to distance between her and the Valkyrie Ooze.
"I am all burned by it will clear up quickly," Rachel Ooze heals her wounds to keep chasing after Rachel.
"This is getting tiresome. Her healing is nuts," she thought as she remembered acid grenade would be able to negate her healing for a bit to do some real damage. "I need to find some Undertaker Grenadiers if they are nearby," she said as she saw a slope covered with sewage. "So gross but I need to go deeper," she said as she slung her rifle to slide downward using her boots to guide her movements avoiding piles of trash and sludge.
"I will find you big sister!" the Valkyrie Ooze shouted as Rachel could see several Tricornes on ledges aiming their crossbow arms and shooting bone bolts at her.
"Shit," she said as she grabs her pistol to fire rounds into the heads of the Tricornes taking them out. An Aqua Licker lunges at her from the shadows to duck under to avoid getting her throat torn out. "Oh boy, that was close," she thought.
She stops at the bottom to see dead Undertakers along with Survivors lying on the floor. "Seems like there was a big battle here?" she thought as several weapons were on the floor.
She collects the ammo from them for her guns. She sees two machine gun turrets set up by the door with sandbags around them. "A defensive line that has been broken," she thought as she couldn't find acid grenades.
She enters through the door to see more dead bodies on the floor to see this place was a shelter for people of the city.
"Damn, they lived in here. Trying to escape the nightmare up top and they sadly didn't make it," she said with sadness in her heart to see makeshift houses made from scrap and barrels lit with flames to keep people warm. There were beds on the corners of the little houses along with the belongings of people who wanted to be safe from the bioweapons.
"So sad," she said.
"Hey Rachel, you okay do there?" Jack asked on the radio.
"Yeah baby but I found a camp down here and everyone here is dead," she said as she looked through the crates nearby to find more ammo and grenades.
"Yeah, those Valkyries are leading groups of Undertakers taking out survivors and bioweapons alike. Those citizens don't stand a chance against them," Jack said.
"Yeah, my clone is down here chasing me again but her healing factor is insane. Blow off her limbs and they rapidly grow back," she said.
"Gee, sounds like a mutant Starfish. Acid grenades should do the trick to slow that healing down," Jack said as Paleheads and Arrowheads have crazy healing factors but Acid grenades negate it leaving them vulnerable to damage.
"Yeah I am looking for them now in these crates before she shows up again," Rachel said as she found acid grenades to feel happy about this. "Yes," she said feeling excited as she heard groans nearby.
"Big sister, I am here," that voice made her spine stiffen to see the twisted version of herself standing on the other side of the room.
"Taste this," she tosses an acid grenade to splash the white liquid onto the beastly lady with the acid burning her body.
"Oh acid," Rachel Ooze screams in pain trying to reach out to Rachel. She tosses away to use M8A2 to put those 6.8 SPC rounds into the body of the Valkyrie Ooze tearing into her doing real damage against it.
"Please sister, help me," the Valkyrie Ooze moaned as she fired a bullet that blew off her limb which was being eaten away by the acid.
"I will be putting you down," Rachel said as she lobbed a grenade from the M320 to blast the Rachel Ooze to knock her into a makeshift house.
"Embrace me," the Valkyrie Ooze transforms her arm into a fleshy blade to lunge at her. She uses her Tanto dagger to deflect the sword strike. They get into a sword fight with Rachel Ooze trying to slice her throat with Rachel parrying her slashes.
"I rather not," Rachel mule kicks the monster across the floor. She tosses another acid grenade to burn her flesh to follow up with several shots into the head and chest. The monster screams as she flops onto the floor unable to move.
"I need to get out of here and find that," Rachel said as she moved to another room with Rachel Ooze slowly regenerating her body.
"I will make you love me even if I have to force my love onto you big sister," Rachel Ooze whispered as she waited for her body to fully recover from their attack.
Rachel goes into a waterway to see something big swimming in the water. "Oh boy, what is that?" she questioned. "I need to keep moving and find that key here," Rachel thought as she kept pushing forward in this damp labyrinth of death and despair.
