Episode 2
The Gang successfully manage to escape out of Valencia, but are stranded in a creepy forest that they just can't seem to navigate. They are stranded until they meet Barry, who's been stuck inside quicksand for a while. Turns out, after the death of Wormwood, he managed to escape but barely. Now his life hangs in the balance, and he needs their help. He tries to persuade them, but is unsuccessful; he notices how any plea he makes is shot down. Finally, he tells them the truth; that he wants to become his own man and stop being a lowly henchman - and while Gareth doesn't care, this strikes a cord within Sid, who lets him go.
The B-plot:
The Jester is discovered to be 'Fake Gareth' underneath a bunch of makeup, and he begs for his life.
Meanwhile, Galavant tries his hardest to enjoy married life but can't, since there's so much chaos going on with his friends. He enlists Pete the Pillager to help the Jester out; but he declines, saying he needs a reward if he's going anywhere near a mission like that. Also, he's kind of sick of being on land.
Meanwhile, the Jester encounters Petey's adolescent daughter, a plain Valencian laundry maid named Shelly. She was abandoned by her father when she was born, and grew up as an orphan, never truly feeling like she belonged. She, ofc course doesn't know about her father.
Seeing the Jester perform, she falls in love with the Jester and asks the Valencians to forgive him if he marries her. They agree; since, if you marry a Valencian, you become Valencian by default; and foreigner laws don't apply to you anymore.
The Jester doesn't want to get married, and least of all to Shelly; but she saved his life, and finally, his cowardly side kicks in and he goes along with her delusions for now. Izzy asks Galavant to help him, but he declines, saying that it's none of their business, and the Jester will pull through. In reality, it's more due to the fact that they've never really talked and he finds speaking to him awkward.
