The class observes jellyfish and other unusual species that reside in the twilight zone. They learn about coral reef studies and how the sun and moon influence the sea. They all participate in an ocean chemistry exercise. Logan and George excel right away since they're thrilled about the pH component of the experiment.
After the activities, they go to a cafe for lunch before returning to the hotel.
Katie joins Jesse at the arcade entrance later that night, as agreed. "Where are you taking me?"
"Somewhere fantastic. Come on." Jesse exclaims enthusiastically. They proceed to the hotel's roof, which has public access. There are lawn seats throughout, as well as a bar.
"Isn't this a beautiful view?"
"It certainly is. All of the lights and noises. It's amazing. Thank you for demonstrating. It's just so soothing. Despite the freezing cold." Katie states.
"Jamie always tells me not to let the pressures of Hollywood consume me." And I believe I've accomplished it. Even in Colorado, it's just a way to get away from all the chaos. Do you ever experience that kind of pressure as a celebrity child?" Jesse states.
"Sometimes, yeah. The guys are fantastic, and I love living in Los Angeles. "I never expected my life to change so quickly." Katie states.
"I comprehend. Did you truly mean those words when you confessed your hatred for James? Was it just a moment of anger or did you genuinely feel that way?" Jesse asks, genuine concern coloring his voice.
"It's a complex situation. I don't want to hate him, but I truly do in this moment. I'm just lost and unsure of what to do," Katie responds, her voice heavy with a sigh as she instinctively seeks solace in her hands.
"No worries, Katie. I'll be right by your side, guiding you through this storm," Jesse assures her, his words laced with unwavering support.
"Thank you," Katie whispers in gratitude, only to be abruptly startled by a mysterious noise. "What was that?"
Jesse follows her gaze and points, "It seems like the mischievous wind has toppled a cup."
"Phew, that's a relief. But wait, I hear something else," Katie exclaims, her senses attuned to a faint sound.
"I can't hear anything," Jesse admits, straining his ears.
"Listen closely, it's like the soft footsteps of a presence," Katie insists, her voice tinged with both concern and intrigue.
"I do hear it now. Whoever it is, reveal yourself! We won't tolerate any lurking shadows," Jesse declares, instinctively positioning himself protectively in front of Katie.
As the tension builds, wind chimes tinkle playfully, casting a gentle spell of anticipation. Suddenly, a face materializes, followed by two hands raised in surrender, and a familiar voice speaks.
"James?!" they both exclaim in bewildered confusion.
"Yeah, it's me," James admits, a mix of vulnerability and remorse etched in his voice.
"Why in the world are you lingering here?! Is it because you tracked our footsteps? Were you stealthily observing our every move?!" Katie's voice grows sharper with each inquiry.
"I stand as your sentinel, protecting you from whatever hidden agenda he possesses," James asserts.
"Pardon me, but what exactly is this concealed agenda?" Jesse queries, his confusion blending with a tinge of distress at the unfounded accusations.
"Frankly, I haven't a clue. But it could be something utterly sinister and malevolent," James replies, his words carrying an air of caution.
"Do you not comprehend the essence of this? We ascended to these heights solely for repose! My goodness, you're abominable!" Katie angrily bellows.
In a huff, they all retreat inside, and she storms into BTR's room with fervor. "It appears that someone is missing," she declares, forcefully thrusting the tall brunette into the room.
"James! Where on earth were you? You didn't even bother informing us of your departure! Are you out of your mind?!" Kendall exclaims, his dismay evident.
"Allow me to enlighten you on his whereabouts. This deranged creep shadowed Jesse and me all the way to the rooftop, obliterating our tranquil moment and unjustly accusing Jesse of malicious intent towards me!" Katie reveals.
"I explicitly instructed you not to involve yourself, James. You assured me you wouldn't! You've deceived me. How can you ever regain our trust?!" Kendall yells.
"I don't know. I apologize," James mutters.
Katie scoffs, her eyes piercing his. "I can't believe you. You're absolutely insane," she says, her voice laced with frustration. "If it's what you always strive for, fine. Jesse, we can no longer continue our friendship. As long as we stay connected, he will forever inflict emotional, physical, and mental harm upon you. There's no way out but to sever all ties. I am truly sorry it has come to this. It's the end."
Jesse pleads, his voice trembling. "Please, Katie, don't do this."
"We have no other choice," Katie says sorrowfully.
Jesse gazes at Katie, his heart heavy with sadness, then shifts his gaze towards James. "Alright, I understand. It was good while it lasted. I hope you find joy in this, James. I am gone from her life forever, and I will never speak to her again. It must bring you immense pleasure to break her heart, because for me, it's unbearable agony. But now, you have complete control over her existence." He sighs. "She was the best friend I've ever known." Jesse retreats to his room, while Katie withdraws to hers.
One by one, they all retire for the night, hearts burdened with the weight of their decisions.
