Chapter One: Urban Legend?
Sonic sat at the beach for five minutes to clear his head. He finally met the princess he is to be married to, but he believed that something is off with her. So he wasn't sure if she was the right one for him to marry. Sonic sighs heavily.
"What on Earth am I going to do?" Sonic wondered.
Suddenly, he heard a female voice that was vocalising. It was in the key of F major, and it sounded faint, but loud enough that Sonic could hear it. Sonic's ears perked upwards as he heard the voice.
"What is that noise?" Sonic thought.
He then stood up, and walked slowly towards where the voice was coming from. As he got closer, the voice got less faint. He then saw a rock just at the beach, and as he looked closer, and he saw a figure sitting on the rock. And it was that creature who was singing.
He only saw her from the waist up. It was a pink female hedgehog, with jade green eyes, and seashells that covered her breasts. Her quills were long, and flowing. Sonic walked closer to see who she was.
"Excuse me, Miss, who are you?" Sonic asked.
The female was startled, and she turned and faced Sonic. And she gasped in surprise. For whatever reason, she was scared.
"A hedgehog! They are real!" she screamed.
After that, she dove into the water, and Sonic ran towards the water, as he was worried about this girl.
"WAIT! You can't jump in there! It's too dark, and it's dangerous at this time of the night!" Sonic called.
This mysterious girl slowly emerged her head from the water, and looked into Sonic's eyes.
"It's OK, Miss. I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm here to help you. Who are you, and what are you doing here?" Sonic asked.
She didn't say anything, however. She still stared at Sonic with fear.
"I promise I'm not gonna hurt you. I'll introduce myself. My name is Prince Sonic. I am the Prince of this Kingdom of Mobius. Do you have a name?" Sonic asked.
"A... Amelia. Princess Amelia. But everyone calls me Amy." she replied.
"You're also a Princess?! Well, this is interesting! And you're also a hedgehog like me as well!" Sonic stated.
"Uh, actually, I'm not a hedgehog. I'm far from a hedgehog." Amy mentioned.
After that, she jumped out of the water, and took a seat next to Sonic on the rock. Sonic's eyes widened with shock. From the waist down, she has a long glittery pink fish tail, with fins at the end.
"Mer... You're a Merhog?!" Sonic explained in shock.
"Yes, I am indeed a Merhog." Amy stated.
"This can't be, because Merhogs are a..." Sonic was cut off.
"An urban legend? We can say the same about you Mobians above us." Amy added.
"OK, fair enough. But, wow! This is actually incredible. For centuries, people were told about Merhogs, and here you are. Merhogs do exist after all." Sonic explained.
"Glad to have met your expectations." Amy smiled.
"You even speak the same language as me!" Sonic exclaimed.
"Well, of course. What language did you expect Merhogs to speak?" Amy wondered.
"Fair enough, again. I just assumed Merhogs spoke their own language, but this proves otherwise. And not only that, before you got scared of me, I heard you singing. And your voice is actually really beautiful." Sonic complimented.
"Well, thank you. My mother taught me to sing when I was really young." Amy happily explained.
"Is there any chance you are able to demonstrate this? You got a song for me to sing?" Sonic asked.
"You really want to hear me sing? Why is that?" Amy wondered.
"I heard you humming earlier, and because I was so fascinated by your voice, I just have to hear more of it." Sonic explained.
"Well, I guess I do have a song I can do. But be warned, this song is quite personal." Amy warned.
"Just start in your own time, Amy." Sonic told her.
Amy took a deep breath, and thought long and hard.

"Wow. Not entirely sure what that song was about, but your voice is absolutely stunning. I could listen to you sing all day and night." Sonic complimented.
"Well, thank you, Sonic. As for what the song is about, it's about the fact that back in my kingdom, my Mother and Father are making me marry someone I don't love. So that's just how I express myself to know I don't love him." Amy explained.
"I know the feeling, because I just met a Princess today, who I am more or less being forced to marry." Sonic told her.
"Me and you are not so different after all. What is it about her that makes you not want to marry her?" Amy wondered.
"Well, we only spoke for five minutes, and she was already talking about how happy she is about our future, without even knowing me personally. Giving me the impression that she's only wanting to marry me because of how I look, and not for who I am." Sonic explained.
"That's what I'm looking for as well. The Prince I'm pretty much forced to marry is quite suspicious." Amy mentioned.
"How do you mean by suspicious?" Sonic asked.
"Well... " Amy started.
She was cut of by some horns that were playing in the ocean.
"What is that?" Sonic asked.
"That's my Father calling for me, and my sisters. I'm sorry, but I have to go." Amy sadly said.
"Will I ever see you again?" Sonic wondered.
"Would you like to see me again?" Amy asked in surprise.
"Well, of course. I have so much to ask you, about your people, and where you come from." Sonic explained.
"Well, I think I can arrange another meeting. I also have questions about your people." Amy smiled.
"Well, I'll be looking forward to seeing you again, Amy. Whenever that is." Sonic smiled back.
"Until then, goodbye, Sonic." Amy said.
She then blew a kiss towards Sonic, and she then dove into the water making her way home.
"Yeah, goodbye, Amy." Sonic shyly replied.
After that, Sonic jumped off the rock, and made his way back towards the palace to get some sleep.
"Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Merhog are real creatures after all. She is absolutely nice, and very beautiful. There's no way I could be falling for her though, because how would it work between me and her? I'm a Mobian, and she's a Merhog. But whatever the case is, I wouldn't mind seeing her again." Sonic stated.
After that, he finally entered the palace, made his way into his bedroom, and he went to bed to get to sleep. What will become of Sonic, now he knows the existance of Merhogs?
