Frosted Dragons

Jack was flying through the air enjoying the freedom the wind helped provide him with. He was heading to Canada to the area a nice little blizzard, to ensure the children had a snow day. Winter was starting to come to an end in the Northern Hemisphere. Jack made it his mission to give one last snow day to all of the children before Bunny ushered in spring.

He whopped with glee going in and out of thick clouds, having the water freeze around him due to him being a winter spirit. All in all, tonight was a great night, nothing went wrong it could even be considered a perfect night. wrong. Chaos seemed to follow the frost child like a magnet. As the harbinger of winter, Jack had few enemies in the spirit world, although they did not seem to like him much due to his mischievous nature. The fall spirits didn't seem to mind having Jack around, mostly because when he was near the fall spirits he would help them paint the leaves and complete other responsibilities for Fall.

Jack made it to his destination, and added more snow to the slush on the ground, leaving it a pristine sparkling white. This was his favorite part of the job when spreading snow, watching the snow glow in the moonlight. The beauty of the winter wonderland, made Jack smile at his handy work.

With the task completed, Jack took flight once more, to bring snow where he could in the United States. Jack had made it to Maine, and he was just getting started with spreading more snow when saw the northern lights in the sky.

'Welp, this can't be good,' thought Jack.

He looked back at the ground devoid of snow. Some things were more important than spreading snow, and he could always come back later. Shaking off a bit of guilt he told the wind to take him to the North Pole to attend the Guardian meeting and to find out what was up.

Jack flew with abandon trying to reach the North Pole as quickly as possible, the last thing he needed was to be teased by Bunny for being late again. Making his way across the Atlantic Ocean he was on track to make it to the North Pole. He was about a little more than halfway there if he had to take a guess. Judging by the ice burgs that decorated the dark ocean, reflecting the moonlight, sparkling like beacons in the dark abyss.

Jack shivered at the sight was one big iceberg in particular, it was an area that he knew all too well, and felt despair when he saw it. The iceberg itself was a reminder of past mistakes resulting in the sinking of a grand ship back in 1912. He could still hear the screams and cries of the victims, as they fought for life just to be taken by the sea. Jack lost in the memory of the fateful night as something that only took 2 hours and 45 minutes, seemed like a lifetime.

Jack being distracted with his thoughts, did not notice the shadow following close behind. The creature was silent as the dead, and slowly made its way over the shadows of the iceberg to not be seen. The shadow was tasked with following the frost child, but if it could bring down the winter spirit its master would be pleased.

Without hesitation, the shadow struck out at the winter spirit leaving the safety of the iceberg. Taking to the air the shadow creature made ready to strike Jack. Unbeknownst to the shadow the wind was faster and scooped the child in its embrace out of harm's way. Once Jack located the shadow, he responded with an attack of his own. Shooting a bolt of ice at the creature was all it took to forever encase the creature in ice. The shadow fell from the air into the water below, becoming another beacon in the night.

Jack glided down to the now frozen shadow to inspect it, no doubt it was Pitch but the question was how? The guardians and himself had sealed Pitch in his lair along with his nightmares. The shadow did not take the form of a horse; it looked more like a black blob with talons that served as feet and hands. It was a grotesque-looking thing even just looking at it Jack felt shivers up and down his spine. Wasting no more time on this Jack took to the skies, and continued onwards to his destination.

It was a great calm day on Dragon's Edge, the dragon riders were taking a long deserved break to collect themselves. The Hunters now had the Dragon Eye in their possession after going toe to toe with the hunters for a bit the Riders seemed to be on a pretty heavy losing streak. Hiccup woke up rather early, the sun starting to rise, and the early morning made for perfect flying conditions.

"Hey bud shall we go for a flight around the Edge?" Hiccup asked Toothless. Toothless was excited at the aspect of going for a flight to stretch out his wings, and spend time with his friend.

"Okay, bud let's go," said Hiccup getting Toothless's harness ready.

The duo were getting Toothless settled in his flight equipment. After the equipment was strapped on properly, Hiccup noticed Astrid came in and was greeting Stormfly.

"Good mornin' m'lady" Hiccup greeted Astrid.

"Hiccup, good morning! What are you doing up so early?" Astrid asked giving off a little giggle at Hiccup's antics.

"It's been a while since Toothless went out for a morning flight, and I see that you and Stormfly have the same idea?" Hiccup explained.

"Yeah my girl and I have been trying to get in some morning flying; we started doing this the same time that we ran into the hunters" explained Astrid.

"What do you say we go for a flight together? After all, with the Hunters out there, it may be a good idea to stick together?" Hiccup offered. Toothless just shook his head, it was no secret that Hiccup was smitten with Astrid, and although she wouldn't show it, Astrid was smitten with him too.

"That sounds like a great idea, I would like that. But, you're going to have to keep up," with that Astrid walked away to get Stromfly ready. Once Astrid was done getting Stromfly ready, they took to the skies enjoying the freedom that came with flying.
