Author's Note: Hey Guys! Just wanted to drop on in and make a few updates on Shinsei.
First up, this will be the last time that I will be using the Power Levels in this story, or rather as a comparison to other characters. Just like the original series, it would have inevitably impossible to consistently come up with power levels as the series progressed. So, with that said, the 2nd half of Arc 3 will be the last to have this implemented, and I will no longer use power levels from here on out. There's a very low chance that I will continue to do so in Arc 4 and onwards, but I will definitely drop some information regarding how they are in the story. I will be getting rid of Power Levels, but I will at least throw some tidbits or hints here and there.
Second, I want to seriously thank you guys for over 1,500 total views on this story! I am very grateful that you guys have been tuning in to this story from the very beginning and keeping up with the Neo Z-Fighters. I still have plans for what's to come after Arc 3, and that will be the last announcement
Finally, I will let you know that we have completed the storyboarding for Arc 4 and it is now in the works! The story is gonna keep going up from here, and I'm happy to take you guys through it!

Chapter 20:
After Kobra's last words had been uttered from his mouth, those words had been followed by silence. The blast from Ryuko had faded away, leaving nothing but a crater the size of what could have been a mountain. Ryuko would set his hands back to his sides and clenches them deeply. His golden hair would blow through the wind as he peered down at the center of the crater. He'd begin his descent to the ground as Oritsu pointed up at him, saying: "Guys! Ryuko's coming back down!" In that instant, Oritsu quickly makes his way to Ryuko's location. Letuce and B'az follow right behind him. Saito and Vejin would be shortly behind the three having their own conversation. Vejin tells him: "To really believe that it was real..After thousands of years, I never thought I'd get to see it with my own eyes..Twice" Saito responds: "I understand…And it seems I was right." Vejin raises an eyebrow at that statement: "Oh? Right about what exactly?" Saito continues: "Seems he's controlled that rage. Despite witnessing the death of his grandfather, he never lost his sight." Vejin questions Saito: "Has something similar happened to you?" Saito tells him: "That's an answer for another day."
Saito and Vejin catch up to the others and stand in front of Ryuko. Ryuko sits down on the ground and powers back down into his normal state. Ryuko would take a few deep breaths before seeing his friends coming his way: "I did it….Grandpa…." B'az would be the first to make it: "Ryuko, that power of yours is truly astounding!" Letuce follows up on that statement: "Yea, it was like our eyes couldn't stay a minute away from it." Oritsu adds on: "Especially that Kamehameha of yours! It was the size of a massive cluster of clouds! It was amazing!" Ryuko just laughs this off and lays on his back. He'd put his head up for a second to see Vejin and Saito in the back. Vejin would smirk proudly at the warrior, and Saito gives him a thumbs up.
Ryuko finally tells the group: "Well, in all honesty…It was all thanks to him…" Up in the sky would be a silhouette of Goku Jr smiling down onto Ryuko. Of course, this was something only Ryuko could see, before the silhouette disappeared. Oritsu grabs Ryuko and carries him over his shoulder: "Let's get you back and tell old man Vegeta and my Sis' the news." Ryuko nodded as the two flew off back to Capsule Corp. The rest of the Neo Z Fighters would do the same.
After about thirty minutes, they made it back to Capsule Corp. After the doors automatically opened for them, Oritsu nodded to the others as he went to the recovery chamber alone while the other four sat in the common room. Oritsu placed Ryuko within the recovery chamber and pressed a few buttons on the pad next to it. Ryuko would recover from his injuries in a few hours.
While they did indeed end up with a victory, it left a somber, bittersweet feeling in everyone's hearts. They didn't know how to break the news to Kiki and Vegeta Jr, or even mention it. However, they weren't expecting them to arrive so soon. Vegeta Jr entered the room: "Seems like you boys made it out just fine. Good to see you all back in one piece." Vegeta Jr was happy to see the boys end up coming back alive, but noticed that the atmosphere was tense. He tried to talk to the boys once more: "I can tell that even with you boys coming back safe, something's amiss. Start talking." Vegeta Jr sat down with a mug in his hand. It seemed like he and Kiki were in the midst of some office work.
Letuce stood up from where he sat and looked his grandfather in the eyes. He would be the one to break the news to the two. Letuce would take a deep breath in through his nose and out of his mouth, and tells his grandfather: "Grandpa…" He paused. Lettuce felt reluctant, he was struggling to find the courage to break the news. Finding his courage, he'd resume: "Grandpa…Goku had died during our battle."
Vegeta Jr was left with a distraught expression. Kiki would gasp before hovering her hands over her mouth after hearing the morbid news. Kiki interjects: "But…Goku couldn't have!" B'az chimes in: "I'm sorry, but he is telling the truth. Goku had been killed by the mercenaries after his battle with someone from his past." Vegeta Jr pauses before telling the boys: "I see…As soon as I sensed that power heading towards the planet, I should've known it'd be too much for Goku to handle alone. Listen well, boys…While victory is a desired trait for a warrior, defeat, pain, and sorrow further strengthen you in your future. Never forget that." Vegeta Jr would get up and leave. Heading to the gravity chamber and closing the door behind him.
Vegeta Jr gripped the mug tight, shattering it into several pieces. Shards of the mug would be stuck in Vegeta Jr's hand as it began to bleed. The sound could be heard by the others just outside the room. Letuce, hearing the noise, would get up to check on his grandpa, but is stopped by Vejin. "Leave him…I know he's your granddad, but he needs time…" Vejin remarks. Letuce hesitates for a moment before sitting back down.
Vegeta Jr punches the wall of the gravity chamber, cursing himself: "DAMMIT! DAMMIT! DAMMITTTTTTTTTTTTTT! GOKU YOU SON OF A- GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!" Vegeta Jr punches the wall once again in the same spot: "HOW COULD GO AND GET YOURSELF KILLED! THIS WASN'T HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO! YOU PROMISED THAT WE WILL SETTLE THE SCORE WITH ONE LAST BATTLE!" In the midst of emotional turmoil, Vegeta Jr powers up into Super Saiyan instantly. Everybody was able to sense this power, it was tremendous. No wonder why he was a close rival to Goku Jr. However, the group would dare not to go in just yet. Vegeta Jr's eyes began to appear cloudy and tears started forming: "IT'S BECAUSE OF MY MISTAKE! IF I HAD GONE WITH HIM, HE COULD HAVE LIVED! WHY DID I STAY BEHIND!?" After that burst of emotions, Vegeta Jr catches his breath and powers back down. Vegeta Jr tells himself in silence: "Goodbye…Goku…"
Letuce would get up from his seat and head towards the gravity chamber. However, Vejin sets him back down. Instead, he is the one to go to the gravity chamber instead. Vejin opens the door to see Vegeta Jr in a vulnerable state. Matter of fact, this is the first time he ever recalled the old man to be like this. Vejin walks over and looks down to see the old man lamenting over the loss of his rival and best friend. Vegeta Jr meets his cloudy gaze with Vejin's. Vegeta Jr says under his breath: "Of all the people to enter…" Vejin sits down next to the old man and tells him: "It's not your fault…" Vegeta Jr instantly fires back: "Tch…Like you're one to give me advice on what happened…" Vejin says nothing and just looks at Vegeta Jr. Vegeta Jr was about to say something, but stops. Vejin continues: "I blamed myself for the loss of my love…Even now, I still think about it here and there…" Vegeta Jr sits in silence. Vejin continues once again: "It's true…I'm sure you've felt this way before, but, I just wanted to let you know, that it's alright, old man…Oh, also, Ryuko had finally become a Super Saiyan." Vegeta Jr smirks after hearing this: "I see…That's very good news…But, either way, I would like to be alone for the time being…" Vejin nods and leaves the gravity chamber.
As Vejin leaves the gravity chamber, he has reconvened with the others and leans alongside the wall. The others would have their injuries treated by Kiki. "I just don't get it…" Kiki tells them. "How come you guys always get yourselves running head first into these types of things!? Next thing you know it could spell certain death for one of you!" Oritsu interrupts his sister: "Sis, we all know that, but-" Kiki cuts him off: "But what, Ori!? One day, there could be a threat that comes to this planet, and I could end up losing someone I care about! I could lose you!" Oritsu snaps back once again: "If it weren't for us, then who will protect the planet!?" Kiki pauses for a moment. Oritsu then continues to rant to his sister in front of everyone: "This is what they've been teaching us sis, we've been taught to deal with opponents that are much larger than us! Goku is gone now, and Vegeta doesn't have much time left either! Sooner or later, who's going to protect the Earth with them gone!? The military!? We need to fill in their shoes and take their place as the protectors of Earth!" Kiki is speechless. She knows her little brother is right after all. She continues to patch up everybody, including Vejin who had just arrived onto the scene.
Tensions have died down since earlier that day. A couple hours later, everybody has physically and mentally recovered from the events that have transpired with the Venom Mercenaries and the mysterious Kurvos. The group would finally be able to take a breather once again as they all left one by one. B'az would go back to the lookout and meet with Dende to tell him the events. Oritsu, Letuce, Vejin, and Kiki would all go out and have some dinner. Ryuko and Saito ended up staying behind. Saito heads over to Ryuko: "Excuse me..Ryuko." Ryuko looks over his shoulder: "Hm? Oh, hey Saito! What's up?" Saito responds: "If you don't mind, could I talk to you? In private?" Ryuko raises an eyebrow, but just shrugs it off: "Alright, sure." Ryuko gets up from his chair and follows Saito into another room. Saito closes the door behind him. Ryuko asks the man: "So what's up? Got something on your mind you wanna tell me?" Saito's tone drastically shifts as soon as he tells Ryuko this: "...How are you affiliated with him?" Ryuko is confused at what exactly Saito is talking about: "Sorry? I don't get what you mean…" Saito explains to Ryuko: "I know why the mercenaries were sent after you, and you, yourself, already knew that as well. But, to clarify just to make sure, someone hired the mercenaries to personally kill you…A higher force, if you will." Ryuko stays silent as he looks down and begins to anxiously sweat. Saito slams his fist on the table: "I know you're playing dumb, Ryuko! You know why those mercenaries were after you! How do you know him!?"
After about a minute, Ryuko begins to collect himself fast and takes a deep breath: "...Alright, I'll tell you…" Saito takes his hand off the table and tells Ryuko: "I'll ask you again, and this time, with his name…How do you know Bruzzell?"
Ryuko takes a second before answering: "Okay. The first time I heard that name pop up again was from Kobra…He told me that they were hired by Bruzzell to come kill me…Kobra wasn't the worrying part. It was hearing his name again…I didn't think that after all this time, he'd still be alive. But, I guess I was wrong…"
"Bruzzell…That man….He is my brother…"
