Catching Up
It has been three hours since Officer Galena, the sole survivor of New Toru City was brought to Obsidian Base, a Vehicle's Depot belonging to the Prune Defense Force. It was several yards away from New Toru City, he was given medical attention and an extended nap he awoke with enough energy to give a thorough take on the events in New Toru City. Galena was shocked to hear that by the time he had awoken that New Toru City was reduced to ash. He spoke to the commander of Obsidian base, the same location he was moved to in order to recover, his name was Jade.
He is quite well known even to the New Toru Police Department, being a war hero who defended one of their cities from an alien invasion several years ago. He wore the same armor as the Shield-Men except his shoulder pads didn't have the dip in the middle of them. He did however have a black tree emblem on his right breastplate along with a black metal likely something he earned from the prior mentioned alien invasion. Jade spoke in a deep, low voice, "So they are here to sell our world off, after wiping us out." Galena nodded and said, "The one we fought was upfront with us, h-he told us he had two more allies, both being stronger than him." Jade let out a low, controlled growl, "Hmmm."
He then looked at the bandaged officer and said, "That's scary but it adds up." Galena was confused, "What do you mean sir?" Jade gave the man a serious but conflicted expression but then said, "Officer, I regret to inform you that we lost both AmpaCity and Old Granite shortly before New Toru." Gelena blurts out, "What?!" He slowly looked down with a shocked expression. He muttered aloud, "All of them… we lost all of our cities in a single hour?" Jade nodded, he grimly said, "Our first sign of trouble was reports of strange objects landing in each city, just like New Toru. Before we even considered sending soldiers, we saw AmpaCity go up in smoke."
Gelena suddenly said, "So that was Ampa… that was the cause of that massive explosion west of Toru." Jade then said, "We immediately sent a squad of scouts to check the area for survivors." Three hours ago, with "Checkers Squad", they were a squad of six scouts. The squad was composed of a Lead Scout= the leader of the squad, a Recon Specialist=a Scout specializing in long distance surveillance and intelligence gathering. a Radio Scout who is equipped with a Mobile Radio=a machine which enables the squad to directly communicate with Obsidian Base. Without this member the squad has no means of communication.
The rest of the squad are grunts who only specialize in combat and even then, they are much weaker than the PDF combat specialist like Shield-men and Cannon-men. What's more none of the scouts have the gear which the Shield-men and Cannon-men possess which enables them to be more efficient in combat. This squad's role is simply to gather information and report it in with combat being a last resort. They approached a massive crater where AmpaCity used to be. They set up on a rocky cliffside east of the city.
Their Recon Specialist and the Radio Scout set up on the cliff's edge. The Radio Specialist set up the mobile radio he was carrying and soon had a direct line to Obsidian base, ready to provide any intel they could gather from this distance. The Recon Specialist got a pair of highly advanced goggles out and was preparing to examine the crater. The Scout Lead stood by the Specialist ready to record any info he may get from what Recon is seeing onto a piece of paper he had. The rest of the squad set up a perimeter hoping to ensure they don't get ambushed while surveying the area. One Scout Grunt stood by the Scout Lead acting as a bodyguard in order to protect him, without the Squad Lead the whole squad would fall apart. With everything set up the Recon Specialist began to examine the crater from afar.
The crater was massive and the surface of it looked as soft as sand. If this really was the remains of AmpaCity then nothing apart from the soil was left of the once great city. He repeated this information to the Scout Lead as he was examining the crater. That's when he spotted something bazaar at the very center of the crater. A bald, hairless man who was clearly not from Prune. He sat atop a large circular object looking very pleased with himself. The alien said to himself, "Alright, I can't wait to rub this into Kakarot's face. I made the boom so big he had to have seen it, heh he might have felt it."
He was a large burly man, and he had a thin mustache that wrapped around the top of his lip ending after going down both sides of his mouth. His existing hair was black, and he had black eyes. His skin was of a lighter tone, like Kakarot and Raditz and he had a brown monkey tail which was wrapped around his waist acting like a belt. He wore armor too, he wore a black and orange Battle Jacket which had big shoulder pads like Kakarot and Raditz, he also had the same battle skirt as well. He wore black short-shorts and black and orange boots. He also wore a device on one of his left ear which had a clear blue lens that covered his left eye rather than the green lens Kakarot and Raditz had.
The man's Scouter came to life as yellow markings and an arrow pointing to his far right appeared on his visor. He peered in that direction and smiled while saying, "Looks like I've caught some of the locals' attention." He stretched his shoulders and then said to himself, "Might as well kill some time, with the city taken care of I don't have much to do until Vegeta contacts me." The info about the alien was concerning. They were expecting the explosion to be from a bomb or a missile, in other words an orbital attack. In fact, they have several patrols of Cannon-men and Shield-men patrolling the orbit above their cities looking for a supposed warship that could be responsible for this attack but so far, they haven't heard anything on that end.
With no warship in sight and the presence of this individual at the epicenter of the AmpaCity crater it seems they have found the culprit. It wasn't anything concrete, but it was enough to deter the Scout Lead from ordering his men to question or attack the bald alien. The Scout Lead suddenly said, "Keep an eye on the alien and tell me if he does anything strange." The Recon Specialist let out a loud "Yes sir!" in response. The Scout Lead then walked to the Radio Scout and handed him the piece of paper he recorded all the intel they gathered from observing the crater and the alien.
"Send this intel to Obsidian Base, they need to know what we found." The Radio Scout nodded and did as he was asked. This is when the Scout Lead began contemplating their next move. One of the Grunt Scouts asked, "Are we going after him sir?" The Scout Lead immediately shook his head and said, "That would be too risky, we aren't equipped for a real fight." He already decided he wasn't going to send his men to meet the alien especially with how little they knew about it. The Grunt argued, "But we can't know if it's responsible until we confront it, how else are we going to find out?" The grunt may have had a point but he's being naive and rash. The Lead Scout shook his head and said, "Our mission was to check for survivors and report what we saw, not interview an alien."
The Radio Scout suddenly said, "Sir, we have orders to return to base immediately." The Scout Lead immediately said, "Good, everyone pack your things!" The naive grunt's shoulders slumped at hearing the news. The Recon Specialist suddenly yelled out, "What! Where did he…?!" The squad lead asked Recon, "What? What's the alien doing now?" In a shaky voice Recon said, "The alien disappeared, I don't see him anywhere." Getting a horrid feeling the Scout Lead barks out an order, "Never mind about the equipment, we need to leave now!" "Now, now don't leave on my account."
The squad heard a gruff voice address them from above forcing everyone's gaze upward. The alien from earlier was now floating above them staring down at them with a sinister grin plastered on his face. The Scout Lead stared back not knowing what to do next. The alien then said, "You must be what this planet passes off as warriors, heh." He examines their camp and after laying eyes on the mobile radio they had set up. He chuckled and then said, "Now do me a favor and don't go dying quite yet." He began to make a swiping motion with his index and middle finger, "I'd like to play with you all for a while!"
The Scout Lead yelled frantically, "Move now!" Suddenly a large explosion overwhelmed the camp and communications between Obsidian Base and Checker Squad was lost. Officer Galena felt his heart sink, it sounded like they got it worse than he or his colleagues. At least that first Saiyan they encountered was willing to talk to them, this new character seemed much more aggressive. The Officer then asked, "What happened to Old Granite City?" Jade said, "After we lost contact with Checker Squad, we assumed the worst and thanks to the intelligence they got for us we knew our enemy better. We sent Cannon and Shield squads to check on the status of both Granite and New Toru, that's how we came to rescue you."
The Officer asked if they sent anyone to rescue Checker squad, but Jade gave him a grim answer, "We sent a Cannon and Shield Squad, but we lost contact with them as soon as they entered the area." He let out an emotionally exhausted sigh and added, "We couldn't afford to lose any more men; we would need them for our eventual counterattack." Jade began to debrief him on what happened to Old Granite. He then said, "Just like the squad we sent for New Toru, we sent a full eight-man squad to Old Granite."
Three hours earlier a squad of Cannon-men and Shield-men were sent to Old Granite City; however, by the time they got there they were too late. The city was in ruins and the streets were littered with corpses. At this time, it wasn't wiped clean in an explosion like New Toru or AmpaCity. The buildings were still somewhat intact, they had been blown up and torn apart but at least the city looked like a city, granted a ruined city rather than a massive, empty crater. However, the fate of the city was much more horrifying to look at. While seeing a once thriving city reduced to ash is disheartening, a far worse sight is seeing streets full of dead bodies, men, women and children among them. Whoever had done this was the definition of a monster. That's when the squad eyed him, the culprit was another one of the hairless aliens.
This alien, body wise, was the exact opposite of the bald Saiyan. He had thick black hair that rose upward but leaned back a bit until it ended pointing upward. He was also much shorter and undoubtedly skinnier than the big one. Of course, like the previous aliens he had black hair, black eyes and a monkey tail which wrapped around his waist like a belt. His outfit however was the most different compared to his compatriots. He did wear the same set of armor as the others, but it used white and orange rather than the darker colors of the other aliens. What's more, instead of gauntlets he wore white gloves along with pure white boots.
The biggest change is the blue jumpsuit he wore under all that armor. He also had a device on his face like the others however this one had a red visor over his left eye. He was holding a dead man by his arm and examining it. The Squad surrounded the alien at all sides taking up their Cannon-Shield formations. The alien paid them no mind as he continued to examine his kill. The captain of the squad barked an order, "Are you the man who killed everyone here?" The captain was only saying this out of regulation. The mere fact he was holding one of their murdered citizens was proof enough he was responsible.
The alien chuckled at the order and spoke with a smooth yet deep voice while continuing to examine the corpse in his hands, "It would seem I am." Angry at how the alien continues to defile the dead body he held in one hand as well as at the aliens' nonchalant attitude despite what he's done he screams at the alien, "What the hell are you doing?! Put that man down, now!" The alien doesn't even flinch, he spoke in a calm voice, "The rations Freeza issues me are crap. I was hoping I could eat this thing, but fur is so bothersome to deal with." The alien shrugged and tossed the dead body to the ground, after which he said, "It probably would have tasted like crap anyway."
He then folded his arms and waited patiently for the captain's response. This was the last straw for the captain. He barked an order in a voice seething with rage, "The Toru people aren't "things" for you to toy with or treat as food, men, kill this bastard!" The whole squad opened fire on the alien who was soon overwhelmed with a massive Ki Blast Barrage from all sides covering him in smoke obscuring his body. After a solid minute of sustained fire, he ordered his men to hold their fire. The captain smiled and said, "That was for Old Granite." A voice suddenly comes out from the smoke, "Is that really all?" The captain among others screams out in shock. "What the hell!"
The smoke clears and reveals the alien completely unharmed and in the same spot as before. Now he's scowling, "I was hoping Freeza had actually sent us to a decent world, but it looks like he still underestimates me." He then grins and says while looking at the captain, "You are out of your depth, fur ball, to me you are all "toys "." Suddenly a purple aura appears around the alien pushing everyone back by a foot. He then said, "Allow me to show you what that means." In a single instant every single soldier surrounding the alien aside from the captain dropped dead with the alien being nowhere in sight.
The captain frantically shifted his gaze upon each and every one of his men. Some had holes in their chests while others were missing their heads. Suddenly the Captain spun around and saw the alien sitting on a building while holding a dead Shield-man. He let out a loud laugh as he looked down at the dumbstruck Captain. The alien then said, "See? I only showed them a little of my strength and they all fell apart." Vegeta dropped the dead soldier letting his body hit the ground. He then tilted his head and asked, "By the look of things you couldn't even see me move." The alien disappeared once again only for the captain to realize where he went because of the pain he felt in his lower back.
The alien had delivered a lethal blow to his back with a single punch. He then leaned in and said, "I hope the rest of this planet isn't this easy." After that all comms were lost and the Cannon-man and Shield-man squad were presumed dead. Jade then said that after that series of events he sent a small recon unit to see what happened only to report that the city was reduced to a smoking crater just like the other cities. Jade then said, "And that was all the details I am aware of." Officer Galena suddenly asked with desperation in his voice, "Sir what is being done about these invaders?"
Jade informs him that the whole of the Prune Defense Force is assembling to take on this invasion. He told the officer that he has already given all this intel to the Onyx Air Base and that they are preparing to assemble their air fleet, but it will take time. "Until then I am to stall the invaders with my 105th Artillery unit and the 101st Cannon and Shield Battalion. Hopefully they can hold their ground until the Air Fleet is ready." Jade then looked at the clock in the room and said, "Right about now they should be just about to engage the invaders." As if on cue he received a transmission from a radio on his body. "Commander Jade, we have engaged–" Suddenly the transmission ends after the sound of a boom and static takes its place. Jade immediately stood up saying, "That's impossible."
The officer suddenly said, "What's going on?" Jade spoke in a dead serious voice while waking out of the room, "Stay here and recover!" Galena immediately replied, "While you do what?" Jade stopped and said before leaving the room, "I'm going to rescue my men!"
