Sorry, this was a short one.

At home Ash and Pikachu are taking a break from battling and decide to relax on the couch, sit back and watch some TV "man it is good to take a break right buddy" Ash asks Pikachu and he agrees, while literally doing nothing his mother comes by and is disappointed with how lazy her son is "Ash Ketchum you are not going to just sit around all day doing nothing" she says however Ash replies "come on mom I don't have any World Coronation Battles coming up and all the Pokémon are tired from training so there's nothing much I can do". Deliah didn't want Ash to sit around the house all day but she didn't know what to do with him but as he picked up the mail she looked through it and found a letter for Ash "well I hope this gets you off the couch".

Ash opens the letter to see that it's a personal invite to witness a Ping-Pong tournament so he reads it and it says, "dear Ash Ketchum by personal request by one of our competitors humbly invite you to witness the Kanto Region's largest Pokémon Ping Pong tournament being held at the Ping Pong Training Centre in Vermilion City." Ash then notices in the letter is an old picture of him, Pikachu and Aipomtogether. Ash then gets off the couch and grabs his hat and bag, Pikachu then jumps onto his shoulder and head out the house in which mother wanted to know "well what's got you so fired up" Ash then tells his mother "me and Pikachu are going to see an old friend".

After a quick bus ride Ash and Pikachu arrived in Vermillion City he headed towards the Pokémon Ping Pong Training Centre but before he got there his phone then chimed in which he had a look to see that another trainer in the World Coronation Series was on their way and wished to battle with Ash personally, so Ash agreed to this and later would have a battle. With that taken care of Ash and Pikachu continued their way until they ended up at the Training Centre in which Ash was impressed by and then heard a somewhat similar voice "hey Ash over here" Ash looks over to see none other than Ping Pong Champion Legend O who had once met up with in Sinnoh, Ash then over and greeted him "hey O thanks for the invite so is she here" the expression on O's face changed as then explained "well actually this is serious I truthfully invite Dawn but she was busy so I assumed you might be able to help instead" Ash then became both confused and concerned about what was going on "is everything alright" O then asked "follow me and you'll see".

O lead Ash into the facility where he saw all sorts of trainers and Pokémon practising ping pong using all sorts of special techniques, Ash was then shown into the locker room where none other than Ambipom was sitting on a bench looking very sad. Ash however called out "hey Ambipom over here" Ambipom looked up and was beyond happy to see Ash and Pikachu again so much so that she hugged them tight. Ash then noticed that though Ambipom was happy to see them again she wasn't feeling quite herself so he asked O was wrong "O is Ambipom okay what exactly happened" O then explained "well you recently Ambipom has had a sort've bad run with ping pong matches in which it's being in a losing streak, I was hoping maybe that Dawn might be able to help get it's confidence back but since Dawn was unavailable and that you were its original trainer maybe you could help", Ash obvoisly agreed to help but wondered how until he then remembered "well I do have a World Coronation Series Battle coming up today so maybe that could help Ambipom get it's confidence back up" O then asked Ambipom "what do you say Ambipom you think a Pokémon battle could help you get your spirits up again". Though she hadn't battled for a while Ambipom accepted Ash's offer to help him battle for old times' sake.

Later at a Pokémon Centre Ash, Pikachu and Ambipom had been training really hard and Ambipom was feeling a little bit better but that was mainly to do with seeing Ash and Pikachu again. Ash set up multiple punching bags for Ambipom to strike at and even got a tennis ball machine for him practise her skills for ping pong, some real progress was being made "you feeling a lot better now" Ambipom gave a faint nod it was still feeling a down thinking it couldn't be great at ping pong again but it's confidence was slowly gaining again. When they had just about finished training Ash has a look on his phone noticing how his opponent should've arrived by now "man where is he" just then he heard a familiar creepy and cocky voice "forgive my delay I just needed to go over the perfect strategy for victory".

Ash looked behind him to see none other than Conway who was doing his usual thing by walking slowly and holding his glasses, Ash was a little surprised to see him "it's Conway" in which he replies "the one and only and as you've no doubt found out I'm currently entered in the World Coronation Series at rank 200th place" Ash then says "cool I'm ranked 184th" Conway then becomes a little off guard hearing Ash is a higher rank but now "no matter my strategy is full proof and once done with you I shall later face my rival Dawn" Ash then corrects him saying "uhm Dawn isn't here either just her Ambipom". Conway grew annoyed and just wanted to start the battle already "look let's just do this", both their phones chime and announce, "a Battle Challenge has been issued do you wish to accept it or reject it" in unison they both say, "I accept".

A few seconds later after taking their place a drone arrives and announces, "you have been approved for an official Pokémon World Coronation Series Great Class battle, the challengers today we have Ash Ketchum verses Conway" the drone then displays a scoreboard "each of you is allowed to use one Pokémon each so will both challengers please bring out your Pokémon, 3…2…1…go", Ash asks Ambipom to head out onto the battlefield "Ambipom let's do this" Ambipom nods and gets onto the battlefield while looking determined and Conway comments "this is perfect though planned for Dawn I have just the counter strategy, Dodrio let's go" Conway then sends out a Dodrio which surprises Ash as he had never seen Conway use this Pokémon before "a Dodrio huh" the drone announces "battle begin".

Conway made the first attack in which Dodrio started the battle off with Tri Attack and as it came towards Ambipom she was quick on her feet then darted and weaved narrowly avoiding the multi-coloured beams of energy, Ambipom then used Double Team and confused Dodrio on which one was which. All three heads became confused on which one was which all of them pinpointing a different target which disoriented them so seizing the opportunity Ambipom launched a Double Hit before striking Dodrio before it could react. Dodrio shook off the pain and lunged forward while all three beaks used Drill Peck however Ambipom maneuverer itself using its acrobatic skills to evade the Drill Peck and struck with Focus Punch in which Dodrio struggled to withstand the assault, however Conway grinned and had Dodrio use Roose to recover from the damage but Ambipom didn't let up and leaped forward and shot a Swift Attack disrupting Dodrio's recovery and dealing significant damage which caught Conway off guard and made him worried "WAIT WHAT JUST HAPPENED". With Dodrio weakened and visibly fatigued Ambipom then used Double Hit and delt the final blow causing Dodrio to pass out. The drone then flies closer and announces "Dodrio is unable to battle, the win goes to Ambipom which means the victory goes to Ash.

Ambipom couldn't believe her eyes on what just happened, it wasn't a ping pong match but she still managed to win, Ash was so happy that she won that he and Pikachu ran up and hugged her "you did it Ambipom" Ambipom was so happy that she hugged them tight, the drone the announced "as a result of today's battle there has been a change in the Pokémon World Coronation Series rankings". Conway returned Dodrio into its Poke Ball and said to Ash "well it seems you are just as unpredictable as ever but another piece of battle data has been inputted into my vast knowledge filled brain chow" as Conway leaves Ash comments "man that guy is weird". Ash's phone then chimed showing him that he was now ranked 109th place which made him happy but then told Ambipom "well it seems you still know how to battle after all this time" Ambipom then chuckles and Ash then says "I guarantee you'll do great in the ping pong tournament tomorrow" feeling so happy Ambipom grabbed Pikachu and Ash's Hat and constantly kept tossing both into the air.

Our Hero battled valiantly today and restored faith into an old friend so what else is yet to come, as the journey continues.
