Episode 1: Pilot Part 1
London

The entire area is under attack as an army of soldiers start shooting around the area. Leading those soldiers is the immortal dictator, Vandal Savage a man of Egyptian origins with black hair and a beard wearing a black coat over a red shirt and black pants with a pair of black boots and a dagger strapped to his belt. "Vandal Savage, an evil dictator blessed with Immortality. He has achieved what no one in human history ever has. He has conquered the entire planet." Savage arrives at a destroyed house where a woman and her son cower in fear. As the woman stands up one of the soldiers shoots her Savage then approaches the child. "What's your name son?" The boy stands up "Jonas." "Your mother was brave, just as your father was foolish. Which are you?" Jonas just spits in his face. "So you take after your mother, huh?" He then stands up and grabs a blaster. "Or not." He then pulls the trigger killing the boy.
Standing before the council was a british man with brown hair and a goatee wearing a trench coat over a dark brown shirt and blue jeans. On his feet were a pair of brown boots. This was Rip Hunter a long-time member of the Time Masters. "Caeser. Hitler. Per Degaton. Rank amateurs compared to Savage" His forces have already claimed the lives of billions. And if we possess the means to stop him, and again do nothing, then their blood is on our hands." One council Member spoke. "As a Time Master of long standing, you seem to forget our responsibility is to protect the timeline, not humanity." Another then interjected. "You wish to engage in the very sort of manipulation of time that we are sworn to prevent." Rip then retorted. "And yet, if we allow humanity to perish at the hands of evil, then what universe are we custodians of?" "We are not warriors, Captain Hunter. We possess no army." "And I'm not asking for one. Just a single timeship and your permission to change history before Vandal Savage puts an end to it. I'm not appealing to you as Time Masters, but as humans, please grant me the authority to change the timeline just this once."
Rip walked aboard his ship and spoke with the (female) artificial intelligence Gideon. "How did the council meeting go, Captain Hunter?" "Exactly as expected, Gideon." "So we are proceeding?" "Indeed." He then took his seat as the ship started up. "Prepare the Waverider for takeoff. Set a course. United States. January 2024." "Ah, the early second millennium A.D. The golden age of gasoline engines, online p*rn, and those silly little smartphones. What are we going to retrieve, Captain?" "Oh, not what, who. I need you to pull up some files, Gideon. The 9 men and women who will be joining us on our little crusade." The ship then took off and was ready to travel through time. "You usually prefer to work alone, Captain." "This time, I'll need a team."
Amity Park
2024
"First recruit: Danny Fenton AKA Danny Phantom. A 14-year-old boy with the powers of a ghost. These include flight, phasing, and shooting beams of echto energy from his hands."
Flying over the city was a 14-year-old with white hair and green eyes wearing a black jumpsuit with white gloves and boots and the logo DP on it. He was currently engaged in battle with a ghost wearing cybernetic armor. "I swear one of these days you are gonna hang on my wall Ghost-Child!" Danny Simply responded by hitting him with a blast of energy and sucking him into his ghost-catching thermos. "But that day's not today." He quipped before changing back to his human form with black hair and blue eyes wearing a white shirt with a red circle in the center as well as a pair of blue jeans and red sneakers. He then heard the sound of clapping behind him. He turned around to see Rip. "Oh, I am not an enemy." He then pulled out a device that flashed a bright light, knocking Danny out.
Mewni-Creek
2024
"Next recruit: Star Butterfly. Former princess of the dimension Mewni, who recently required the use of her magic. Her most powerful ability is being able to transform into a powerful butterfly-like creature."
Walking down the street was a 15-year-old girl with blond hair and blue eyes wearing a teal dress with a purple ribbon around the waist and a narwal on the lower left side with white cuffs over the shoulders as well as a headband with devil horns on them. She was also wearing a pair of purple boots over a pair of teal and purple striped socks. On her cheeks were hearts. She soon saw an innocent monster family being attacked be a human thief. "Give me any valuables you got on you." Star walked up to the thief. "Leave them alone." The thief just smirked and tried to hit her with his crowbar. Star dodged this and held her hand out. "Narwhal Blast!" She shouted as a beam of magical narwhals shot out of her hand hitting the thief. He got back up and tried to take another swing. She dodged it and threw a punch of her own knocking out the thief. The family thanked her and she was about to leave when Rip appeared in front of her. "Miss Butterfly, could we talk? I have come quite a long way to meet you." He then held out his flashing device, knocking her out.
Bellwood
2024
"Ben Tennyson AKA Ben 10: wielder of the Omnitrix, an alien device (that looks like a watch) that allows him to transform into a variety of alien species."
In the sky Ben was flying as "Jetray" chasing an armored truck owned by the Forever Knights. "Woah boys the speed limit is 20 miles not 200 miles." He then shot lasers from his eyes popping the tires and causing the truck to stop on the side of the road. The knights then came out and tried to attack but Ben shot more lasers at them disarming them and then used his tail to knock them out. He then changed back to his true form of a 16-year-old boy with brown hair and green eyes wearing a green coat with white stripes and the number 10 on it over a black t-shirt as well as a pair of blue jeans and a pair of black sneakers. "Add another win in the play book." Before he could bring them in, he heard someone say "Excuse me" and turned around to see Rip. "Who are you?" Ben asked. Instead of answering Rip just pulled out his flasher and knocked him out.
Beach City
2024
"Steven Universe: the half-human half-gem hybrid son of Greg Universe and Rose Quartz AKA Pink Diamond as well as the youngest member of a team of alien heroes called the Crystal Gems. His abilities include super strength, shield summoning, and err healing salvia."
On the shores of Beach City was a 16-year-old boy with curly black hair and a pink gem where his bellybutton should be wearing a pink coat over a black t-shirt with a star on it as well as blue jeans and a pair of pink sandals. He was currently dealing with a recently discovered corrupted gem and was trying to "poof" it. He was currently using his shield to protect himself from lava spit as the gem charged at him. He then jumped and formed a bubble shield with spikes to crush the monster and cause it to hide in its gem. Steven then proceeded to bubble it. "Alright buddy, lets get you healed." "I'm afraid that's going to have to wait." Steven turned around to see Rip holding his flasher, knocking him out.
Middleton 2024
"Kim Possible: teen hero prodigy who is an expert in martial arts as well as having access to a variety of advanced gadgets including a hi-tech battlesuit."
The town of Middleton was currently being attacked by a half-lizard half-skunk creature created by the mad scientist DNAmy. However she was soon about to be thwarted by an 18-year-old girl with red hair and green eyes wearing a purple shirt and dark purple pants with black shoes and brown gloves. With her was her boyfriend Ron and his pet naked mole rat Rufus. With Kim's martial arts skills and new hairdryer taser and Ron's expertise in monkey kung-fu they were able to beat the monster into a big pile of goo. Shortly after the police came to take Amy to jail. "Seriously Amy you need a new hobby." Kim critiqued. "So KP what do you say we celebrate with some Nacos." "Sorry young man but I need to borrow your girlfriend for a while." They both turned to see Rip with his flasher, knocking both of them out but taking only Kim.
Norrisville 2024
"Randy Cunningham: the latest teenager to take on the mantel of the Ninja of Norrisville. Abilities include martial arts and is skilled in the use of various weapons."
In the gym of Norrisville High, there were a bunch of robo-apes attacking a ninja wearing a full body black suit with red stripes and a red scarf. He was currently wielding a sword with a slightly curved black and red handle with the ninja logo on the side. "Ninja Chop." He said as he slashed at a robo-ape. "Ninja Scarf Grab." He said as he wrapped his scarf around another ape pulling it towards him so he can cut it. One after another he defeated every last ape. When the battle was over, he took off his mask revealing a 15-year-old boy with purple hair and eyes wearing a grey hoodie over a red shirt with a white stripe on it along with black sweatpants and purple shoes. "At this point it feels like McFist is just throwing his money away on crummy robots." "I don't know with the right modifications they could be useful on my ship." "Probably but… Wait who said that?" "I did." Rip said as he knocked Randy out with his flasher.
Tremorton 2024
"Jenny Wakeman AKA XJ-9: a robotic teenager created by scientist Dr. Nora Wakeman. Being a robot she possesses a variety of abilities including flight, different forms of vision, shooting energy beams from various parts of her body, shapeshifting, and is self-repairing. But with a bit of work she'll be able to do so much more."
A blue and white robot with pigtails and a screw for a bellybutton had just finished a battle with alien bikers when she had received a call from her mother/creator. "XJ-9, what were you thinking?" "Mom calm down I beat the bad guys and saved the day no harm done." "No Harm done 3 city blocks were destroyed in the process. Honestly would it kill you to try and be careful." "Would it kill you to say 'good job.'" As she hung up Rip appeared. "Have you two ever considered family therapy? I hear it's quite popular in this century." He then pulled out his flasher, knocking her out.
Gravity Falls 2024
"There seems to be an error, Captain. These last 2 candidates Dipper and Mabel Pines possess no special powers or abilities." "There's no error Gideon." In a cave 13-year-old twin siblings were looking for a monster.
The first twin was a male with brown hair and a birthmark of the big dipper on his forehead wearing a dark blue puffer coat over a red t-shirt with grey shorts black shoes and a blue and white hat with a pine tree on it. He was currently holding a flashlight while searching the area. The second twin was a female with brown hair, a red hair band and braces wearing a pink sweater with a shooting star on it with a purple skirt and a pair of black flat shoes. She was following her brother while eating chips and feeding some of those chips to her pet pig Waddles. "Dipper we've been here for hours lets just go home already." "Come on Mabel were close I can feel it." Their conversation was cut short when they heard a growl behind them. They turn around to discover a griffin about to gobble them up. They immediately ran out of the cave and started heading home on the Mystery Shack's golf cart. During their trip they noticed Rip standing in front of them. Dipper immediately hit the brakes while Mabel shouted "Look out." Rather than step out of the way Rip just help up his flasher knocking both of them out.
Our heroes woke up disoriented and confused on a rooftop, unsure of how they got there. "Ow my head. Mabel are you okay?" "Yeah, but how did we get here?" Danny looked next to him and saw Kim. "Aren't you Kim Possible?" "Yeah, and your Danny Fenton do you have any idea what were doing here?" "I was hoping you would know the answer to that." Ben then got up. "I was supposed to be home 2 hours ago. My parents are probably worried sick." Jenny then joined the conversation. "I can relate." Star then interjected. "Me too." Steven then started asking the question that was on everyone's mind. "Does anyone know why were here?" Randy then had a suggestion. "Maybe we should ask the guy who brought us here. British dude with a flashy thing ring any bells?" "That would be me." The teens turned their heads to see Rip standing before them. "The names Rip Hunter. I'm from East London. Oh, and the future."
"Nice to meet you Rip." Ben said as he tried to go hero but failed. Jenny also tried to attack but even she couldn't access her powers. "Uh, while you were incapacitated, I may have tampered with your weapons." Rip explained. "Sorry for kidnapping you but I didn't think you would come if I asked." Danny stood up angry. "So mind telling us what's going on?" "I've assembled you all because I need your help. The future of the world is in peril because of a man by the name of Vandal Savage." They looked confused. "Who's that?" Steven asked. "A cruel and power-hungry madman who possesses the gift of immortality." "That's not possible" Kim exclaimed. "Yes, it is. I fought someone who's immortal before it's no joke." Star explained. "Me too." said Randy. "Getting back to the point, what does this guy have to do with us?" Ben asked. "In the future, he will employ the evil he's perfected over his long life, and the power he has amassed throughout history, to finally conquer the world."
"I'm a member of the Time Masters, an organization dedicated to protecting history. But in this case, they've granted me special permission to assemble an elite team to stop him." Rip explained. "How?" Danny asked. "To travel through time. To capture Savage before he grows into the monster he becomes." "You might have the wrong people for this job. I'm not much of a fighter." Dipper stated. "Me neither." Mabel said. "I know it's difficult for you to fathom, but where… when I'm from, the year 2166, you and everyone on this roof aren't just considered heroes… you're legends." Hearing that everyone's eyes grew wide with awe. "Legends?" Ben asked amazed by what Rip just said. "I, um, I hate to complain but doesn't a legend have to be dead?" asked Steven concerned. "Yeah, see, that's a deal breaker for me, so I'm still gonna say no." Mabel said afraid.
"It's dangerous for any of you to know too much about your own futures, but I am here because each of you, as individuals, is destined for greatness." "I like the sound of that." Randy said. Rip then grew stern. "And, because if you don't follow me, this is what is in store for your world 142 years from now." Rip said as he showed them a holographic projection of London on fire. People were running in fear and soldiers destroying everything in their path. Seeing this they felt a mixture of fear and sorrow. "I could have chosen any time and place. Of all the people who have ever lived I chose you nine. I certainly hope that you won't let me, and the world, down." Before leaving Rip handed Danny a card. "If your answer is yes, meet me at this address in 36 hours."
Danny knocked on the door of his girlfriend Sam. She answered asking if everything is ok. Danny then went on to explain what just happened. "I'm sure Captain Hunter will return me to the moment I left, but I thought, you know just in case, someone should I know I was gone and tell the others." Sam looked concerned. "Sounds like this Savage guy is bad news." "Well that's why he's recruited a team." "Yeah, but what do you know about this Captain Hunter?" Sam asked. "He's a Time Master from the 22nd century. It's not like I can look him up on Facebook." "So you don't know anything about him and yet you're willing to follow his lead." Sam asked angrily. "I'm not saying I trust him, but I saw what will happen if Savage isn't stopped. I have to help." Danny said trying to state his case. Sam kissed his cheek. "Just promise you'll be careful, ok?" Danny smiled. "I promise."
Kim was at Bueno Nacho with Ron telling him about Rip and his mission to save the future. "So are you gonna go?" Ron asked. "Why not? I've saved the world before and this time it'll be for the future." "Why didn't he ask me if I wanted to go, I mean we are a team after all." "I won't be alone there will be others with me." "Still maybe I should come just in case." Kim took his hand. "Ron someone has to keep an eye on things while I'm gone. And with your monkey kung-fu I know you can do it." Ron smiled. "You think so?" "I know so. And don't worry I'll be back before you know it."
Steven was at the temple to get advice from Garnett about weather or not he should go on this mission. "This does sound dangerous Steven." "It is. What should I do Garnett I want to help but at the same time I'm worried about what could happen to me not just physically but psychologically." Steven explained remembering his "episode". Garnett removed her shades took a deep breath and responded. "I think you should do what you feel is right and not worry about what I or anyone else thinks." "So I should go?" Steven asked confused. "If that's what you want then I'll support your decision." Steven thought for a moment then gave an answer. "Tell Pearl and Amethyst I'll be back soon. And tell Connie to keep Lion company until I get back." Garnett smiled. "I will. And good luck." Steven smiled back and hugged his mother figure. "Thanks."
Star and her boyfriend Marco were in the middle of a fight with some rogue soldiers that supported Mina Loveberry's radical ideas. "Well what do you think?" Star asked as she blasted one of the soldiers. "Well when you came to Earth for the first time it was a big adjustment but you did great in the end." Marco responded while karate chopping another guard. "Well this'll be a little different." "Time travel. I can't believe were talking about it as if it's real. But then again, I thought the same thing about magic." After the battle Marco faced Star with a serious look on his face. "I think you should go." Star looked at him with despair in her eyes. "Marco I just got my magic back; I'm still trying to get used to that. You really think it's a good idea for me to go when I'm having a crisis?" "That's exactly why you should go. Saving the world might be just what you need to get your groove back." Star smiled for a second but then she began to worry. "But who knows how long I'll be gone." Marco the walked up to her and gave her a kiss. "Don't worry, I'll be here waiting when you come back."
Randy was at his best friend Howard playing Grave Puncher. "That guys crazy if he thinks you going on with him." Howard said. Randy nervously laughed. "Yeah crazy." "Howard noticed this and got angry. "Oh my god you want to go, don't you?" Randy looked towards his friend. "Look as the ninja I have a responsibility to help people. And people in the future are still people." Howard sighed. "Fine, but you better bring back a cool souvenir." "Deal."
Ben was at Mr. Smoothie with his cousin Gwen. "Well we've dealt time travel before so I have some experience." Gwen looked at him annoyed. "Yes, and that experience taught us that when you mess with time it tends to mess back." "True, but after what I've seen I can't imagine things could get worse." Gwen sighed. "Even so, are you sure about this. I mean your talking about fighting an immortal super-villian." Ben smiled. "I've faced the worst the universe had to offer I'm pretty sure I can handle this."
At her home, Jenny was having an argument with her mother. "Mom for the last time I'm not going." Dr. Wakeman looked aggravated. "And for the last time I created you to save the world and what better way to do that then by saving the future." Jenny was starting to get annoyed. "But what about my life? I have friends, school and I'm just supposed to give that up because some stranger shows up and asks me to travel through time?" "How about either you go on this mission or you can spend the next six months grounded." Jenny was about to argue back buy she held her tounge and reluctantly agreed.
In the Mystery Shack Dipper and Mabel were debating on going. "Come on Mabel this is the opportunity of the lifetime we can't pass this up." "Dipper were not super-heroes." Dipper started packing as he countered her argument. "So that did't stop us from stopping Wierdmageddon and saving the town." Mabel still refused. "That's because be had friends we could trust we don't know these people or if they'll risk their lives for us." Dipper sighed. "Fine stay I'll go alone." Mabel started to get really angry. "No you're not. I'm not losing my brother to time travel." Dipper finally gave in and poured some soda for himself and Mabel. "Fine you win. I'll just spend my time reading books and hunting magical creatures like I always do." Mabel smiled. "Great knock yourself out." Mabel said as she drank her soda. Dipper then smiled. "You took the words right out of my mouth." Mabel was confused by what her brother said until she started to feel light headed and finally passed out.
The next day our heroes arrived at the address ready to start their adventure. "Hey guys." Danny said as he landed. Ben noticed Mabel unconscious. "Is she ok?" "Yeah, she just drank something that disagreed with her." Star noticed Jenny looking upset. "Everything alright?" Jenny sighed. "I don't want to talk about it." Rip the arrived happy to see the young heroes. "Well, I see you've all decided to come. Well then, we can be on our way." "So where's your time machine?" Randy asked. Rip just smiled. "A Time Master's sacred charge is to do no harm to the timeline. Can you imagine what s timeship would look like in, say, Victorian England?" Kim's eyes widened. "Cloaking tech." "Indeed." Rip then pushed a button revealing a huge ship. "It's called the Waverider. It's been my ship for over a decade. Shall we?" The team then proceeded to make their way on to the ship.
The teens couldn't believe their eyes; the ship's interior was the most technological space they had ever seen. "This is so bruce. It's like we're in a sci-fi movie." Randy said in awe. Dipper agreed. "Right? Do think it has a hyper-drive?" "We can only hope." Kim looked at Mabel. "What exactly did you give her?" "Just a little sleep powder from a mushroom that grows in Gravity Falls. Don't worry she'll wake up soon."
Danny observed the main deck. "Have you ever seen anything like this?" he asked Star and Jenny. "No." Star answered. "No. And considering my mother is a scientist that is saying something." responded Jenny. "How do you pilot a ship like this without a crew?" asked Ben. Rip smiled. "I don't need one I have Gideon." "Who's Gideon?" asked Steven. Shortly after asking that question a blue holographic head appeared over the main table. "Welcome aboard. I am Gideon, an interactive artificial consciousness programmed to operate this vessel's critical systems and aid Captain Hunter in his mission."
"Gideon's been working on helping me locate Vandal Savage." Rip explained. Danny looked confused. "I thought he said he's pretty active in the 22nd century." "He is. But engaging him at the height of his powers isn't the best strategy." Rip explained. "Unfortunately, Savage has kept his movements hidden throughout history, not even Gideon can determine where or when we can find him. But I have the next best thing: the man who can. Professor Aldus Boardman." Star tilted her head. "Who's that?" she asked. "He's the world's leading…well only expert on Vandal Savage. Were going to pay him a little visit." Gideon prepared the ship for takeoff. "Course plotted for St. Roch, New Orleans. October 17th 1975."
Rip started to buckle up in his seat. "I suggest you all strap yourselves in. Temporal navigation isn't something one wants to be standing up for." The others started to buckle up. "This is gonna be fun." exclaimed Ben. "Some of you may experience some slight discomfort. In Very rare instances, there will be some, uh, bleeding from the eyeballs." Rip added. Steven got scared. "I'm sorry, what?" "The human body is used to time unfolding linearly. So there will be some side effects for the reverse." said Rip.
As the ship the ship was taking off Mabel started to wake up. "Oh, Mabel you're awake. I was afraid you were gonna miss it." Dipper said excited. "Miss what? Mabel asked groggily. But her question was soon answered when she looked out the windshield. "What the…Get me off this thing!" Mabel said as she tried to remove the lap bar. "Oh, no, I wouldn't unfasten that if I were you." Rip warned. "Good luck explaining this to her." Jenny said sarcastically. "I was doing her a favor." Dipper retorted. "She doesn't look all that grateful." said Randy. "Just hang on and remain calm All your words are about to change." Rip said as the Waverider warped away to the past.
On the ground two friends watched with amazement as the Waverider took off. "Whoa." "That was Insanity." Suddenly out of knowhere a man wearing black body armor and a cape armed with a laser gun appeared. "Whoa, that is some serious Darth Vader going on there." one of the friends said. "Chronos to command. I am closing in on Captain Hunters position." the man known as Chronos said as he spoke into a communication device. He then proceeded to use a wrist computer. "Hey, what are you doing there, bro?" asked one of the friends. "I am determining whether you are integral to the timeline." Chronos answered. "You are not." He then proceeded to blast them to death.
St. Roch, New Orleans 1975
The ship landed in 1975, cloaking itself to avoid detection. The second they landed though Star threw up. Rip cringed. "Oh, I should have mentioned it before. Nausea is one of the side effects of time travel, along with…" Rip was interrupted when Kim fell over. "Aah!" "Vertigo." Dipper started to panic. "I can't see." "And temporary blindness. Don't worry it should only last a minute. After all, that was a mere jaunt. The further back in time you go, the worse the side effects." Rip explained. Mabel was still furious. "I can't believe you kidnapped me. I want to go home." Good news then 2024 will be around in 49 years." Rip responded. "Now, Ben, Steven, and Star feel free to make yourselves comfortable here on the ship, while the rest of you are coming with me to find Professor Boardman."
"Wait what? You're benching us?" Ben asked. "I thought we were a team." said Star. "We are. But this mission doesn't require your particular skills. Yet." Rip stated. "Meaning you don't need any magic, alien heroes, or healing spit." Steven realized. "Precisely." "You sure these guys can be trusted here alone?" Kim asked. "Uh, deafness wasn't one of the side effects." Star said annoyed. Rip got back to the point. "We better get hurry up. Professor Boardman will die in less than 24 hours." The team was surprised by this. "Why are we cutting it so close?" Danny asked. "Because if he's supposed to die today, then he doesn't have a future for us to alter and his impact on the timeline will be minimal." Dipper explained. "Talk about depressing" Randy commented. "How does he die?" "Uh, he's found dead in his university from unknown causes. Come on."
"Wait, I can't go out in public. I'm a robot." Jenny realized. "Way ahead of you." Rip said as he handed her a watch. "Push the red button." Jenny did as she was told and a holographic image surrounded her. Who stood before them now was a girl with black hair blue eyes and freckles wearing a yellow shirt with a red skirt and green shoes. Jenny looked over her new appearance. "Amazing. How did you…?" "Holographic camouflage. It allows you to blend in with a crowd. It can also be reprogrammed with new designs and doesn't interfere with your powers. Now let's get going."
As Rip's group was leaving Dipper noticed that Mabel wasn't following. "You coming?" Mabel shook her head. "I'd rather stay with the people who didn't drug me." "Fair point." Walking through the university campus the team couldn't help but be amazed by where they were. "This really is amazing. I can't believe we're in the '70s." Kim said. "Right." Danny agreed. I mean who knows what else we'll see on this mission." "You know I've never been to 1975 before. It's rather colorful." Rip commented. "So where's this professor?" asked Randy. "Most likely in his lecture hall." Rip answered.
When they arrived, they found a man in his late-50s-early-60s with white hair and a beard wearing a pair of glasses and a beige suit passed out on his desk. "Oh, man. We're too late." Dipper said in sadness. Professor Boardman then suddenly woke up. "This is…I'm, I'm sorry." he said hazily. "Professor Boardman?" Jenny asked. "Yes, who are you?" "Let's just say I'm a fellow historian and these are my students." Rip interjected. "And were here to talk to you about your work on Vandal Savage." The professor's eyes widened. "What's your interest in him?" Rip sighed. "Let's just say it's a matter of helping people."
Back on the Waverider, Star, Ben, Steven, and Mabel were sitting down watching some 70s TV. "Well I'm bored." said Ben. "Me too. What do you say we go explore the 70s and have some fun." Star suggested. "Now that sounds like a plan." Ben agreed. "I don't know guys. Rip said to stay on the ship." Steven said concerned. "Come on Steven, don't tell us you're not even a little curious to see the '70s." Star said. "Maybe a little but still…" Ben put a hand on his shoulder. "Relax well stay together and blend in." Eventually Steven gave in and they started heading out. "Mabel, are you coming?" Star asked. "No thanks." said a clearly upset Mabel.
At the university, Rip and the others were at Professor Boardman's office as he gathered his notes. "4,000 years ago, Vandal Savage was an Egyptian priest, who was secretly planning to overthrow the Pharoh Rameses the Wise." the professor explained. "One night Savage or Hath-Set as he was then known killed him and his wife by stabbing them and tried to seize control of Egypt but a meteor shower decimated the middle kingdom destroying everything. Before the palace was destroyed, he prayed for the god, Horus, to damn the objects of his hate for all eternity. However he rose from the destroyed remains of the palace unharmed for he had become immortal."
"Woah." said Dipper amazed by the story. Professor Boardman continued. My theory is that the meteorites contained a mutative element. And when they landed, his exposure to them altered his DNA and that's why he's immortal." "Well that's interesting. But do you know if he has any weaknesses?" Kim asked. "Actually yes." Professor Boardman answered. "The meteorite also affected certain objects with the same radiation as Savage. Using them could in theory undo the effects and kill him."
"That's amazing. How exactly do you know this?" Danny asked. "I've dedicated my life to learning about Savage…ever since he murdered my father." The professor answered sadly. The team was shocked to hear this. "What happened" Jenny asked. "He was a police officer who was investigating the theft of a stolen artifact. He tracked the thief (who turned out to be Savage) down and was killed trying to arrest him." "Since then I have dedicated my life to learning about him so that someone could bring him to justice." Rip then approached him. "Sorry to interrupt, but we were hoping you could tell us a bit more where to locate Savage's present whereabouts."
Professor Boardman walked over to a slide projector and turned it on. "He hides in the shadows, never drawing too much attention, but every lifetime, placing himself near the seat of power, sowing seeds of destruction. Who remembers the name of the man who whispered in the ear of Gavrilo Princip, and convinced him to start World War I?" Randy looked confused. "Why, I mean what does he have to gain from that?" Dipper then snapped his fingers. "Because the more the world is focused on destroying itself, the less it notices an immortal psychopath in it's midst." "With the ultimate goal of subjugating the entire planet." Professor Boardman added. "He killed your father Professor Bordan. Something tells me you know where to find him." said Rip. "I have an educated guess."
Meanwhile at a local club Steven, Star, and Ben were sitting at a table drinking soda. "See Steven nothing to worry about." Steven smiled. "Ok this is pretty fun." The DJ then played the song "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Captain &Tennille. "You guys wanna dance?" asked Star. "No thanks. said Ben. "I'll just watch." said Steven. Star proceeded to the dance floor where she was approached by a punk teen dressed in leather. "Can I help you?" she asked. "Yeah, how about we ditch this place and go somewhere quieter." "Hmm, tempting but I'm already spoken for." Star responded. "Maybe you didn't hear me." he said as he grabbed her wrist. Star responded by twisting his arm and punching him in the face. "Ahh son of a bitch." The punk and his crew started to attack. Star turned to her friends. "I got this." Star continued to fight back blasting one punk. Kicking another in the face. And punching the third in the gut. Soon more punks showed up. Star turned to the others. "Now I could use some help." Steven and Ben got up and to help her. Steven pulled out his shield while Ben turned into "Echo-Echo." The three friends then proceeded to fight back.
Back on the ship, Mabel was getting fed up. "Uh, Gideon?" "How may I help you?" "Can you fly the ship?" Mabel asked. "I can." Gideon answered. "Great. Can you take me home? I'm not supposed to be here." "Captain Hunter told me you'd try to do this, and he also told me not to listen to anything you say." "Oh come on." Mabel said angrily. "You seem overwrought, Ms. Pines. If you'd like to go to the MedBay, I'd be happy to prescribe a sedative." "I don't need to be drugged again." Suddenly the ship was shaking. "What was that?" Mabel asked scarred. "A thermite grenade. It seems someone is trying to breach the hull." Outside, Chronos kept firing at the ship. "His name is Chronos. He's a temporal bounty hunter." Chronos fired again. "The ship is taking heavy fire." Mabel pulled out her phone and started texting Dipper.
Back at the university, Professor Boardman handed Rip a journal. "A lifetime of research on Vandal Savage that all points in this direction. This should help you find him, and the vengeance that has eluded me all these years." Dipper heard a ding and pulled out his phone. "Guys, Mabel's in trouble. We have to go." We seem to have a little problem back at the, uh, vessel." Rip started to leave. "Thank you for everything."
Jenny walked up to Rip. "Wait. We can't just leave him here." Danny agreed. "You said he's going to die in 24 hours. Maybe we can stop it." Rip turned around looking annoyed. "Are either of you a Time Master? I didn't think so. I've spent years studying the implications of chronological alteration." "Danny walked up to Rip. "Good for you, but we're not leaving him here to die."
The Waverider continuing to take damage from Chronos' attack. "Why is Chronos attacking us? "Perhaps Captain Hunter is best suited to answer that query." "Fire weapons." "Only Captain Hunter is authorized to fire the weapons." "Where is Captain Hunter." Rip, Dipper, Randy, and Professor Boardman were running towards the Waverider. "Mr. Cunningham, please tell me…" "I didn't leave my mask on the ship? Okay, but I'd be lying." Chronos was about to fire again when from the sky Jenny (holding Kim) flew down punching Chronos in the face. Kim then proceeded to kick him in the chest. Before Chronos could respond Danny came down in his ghost form blasting him with echto blasts. "Who is this guy?" he asked.
Rip and the others took cover by a nearby rock as Rip pulled out a blaster and began to fire at Chronos. "Is that a laser gun?" the professor asked in amazement. Chronos started to fight back, proving to be a fierce opponent. "I gotta get to Mabel. Cover me!" Dipper shouted. "Cover me too." Randy added. The two began to run towards the ship while Chronos fired at them. Mabel watched with fear and envy as they approached the ship. "Woah."
Randy managed to push Dipper out of the way from being shot. "Thanks Randy." "Don't mention it." Dipper approached Mabel with a hug. "Are you ok?" "Yeah." Chronos fired again on Rip and Professor Boardman causing an explosion what sent them flying back. He was about to throw a grenade when suddenly a car hit him from behind. Stepping out was Steven, Ben and Star. "We leave for five minutes and you guys manage to pick a fight with Boba Fett." Ben exclaimed as he turned into "Swampfire."
Star assumed her butterfly form and proceeded to blast Chronos while Steven summoned his shield deflecting blasts from Chronos' blaster. Randy shortly came out of the ship in his suit. "Ninja Rings." he said as he threw sharp discs at Chronos' chest causing them to get stuck. As Rip and Professor Boardman ran towards the ship, Chronos fired again causing the professor to be injured. Kim and Danny proceeded to carry him onto the ship while the others prepared to retreat. "Professor Boardman has sustained severe internal injuries. Prepare the MedBay to receive Professor Boardman and get us out of here." Rip commanded. "Course heading?" "Anywhere but here. The Waverider took off and Chronos was left behind.
The Waverider stopped in a strange place as the team fled. "Our cloaking shield and aft entrance have been significantly compromised, Captain." "Yes, I can see that, Gideon. Station us in the temporal zone while I work on repairs." "Temporal zone?" Jenny asked confused. "Yeah, it's essentially a time limbo. We can hide out there for a bit another temporal jump would risk revealing our position." "A time limbo? That's amazing." Danny said. "Oh, there's something you people don't know about time travel. That's surprising, isn't it considering none of you have ever time travelled before." Rip said angrily. "Brining a university professor from the past onto a timeship. Breaking out and partying around the 1970s. We've barley begun, and already this is the worst, unmitigated disaster of my career."
When Rip turned around, he saw Kim and she punched him in the face. "Woah, Kim what are you doing?" Steven asked. "Getting answers. Professor Boardman got hurt and we almost died because of you. Who was that guy and why did he attack us?" Kim asked. "It's something of a long story." "Better tell it fast Rip She looks mad." Ben stated. Rip sighed. "His name is Chronos. He's a temporal bounty hunter who works for the Council of Time Masters. My former employers." "Former employers?!" Randy asked. Star got angry and walked up to Rip. "I thought you were a Time Master?" "As I've expressed, time's not a linear thing. At some point I was, in fact, a Time Master…" before he could finish Star punched him in the face.
"Will you people please stop hitting me?" Rip shouted. "Then stop lying and start telling the truth." Star demanded. "I relinquished my position as a Time Master when I commandeered the Waverider." "Commandeered?!" Steven asked. "That means to take." Dipper added. "I know Dipper. You said the Time Masters granted you permission for this mission." Rip looked down. "They refused but I went ahead and proceeded anyway. Chronos was clearly sent to bring me in." "You lied to us." Jenny said disappointed. "Of course I lied to you. I needed your help…you all barely said yes as it was." Rip explained.
"What about the part about us being legends?" Randy asked. Rip continued to look down. "You lied about that too, didn't you?" said Danny as he put the pieces together. Rip took another deep breath. "The real reason I chose you was because, a hundred years from now, despite your heroics, your lives have a minimal impact on the recorded timeline. I needed to assemble a team without disturbing the history of 2166." The team looked sad. "So basically we're like the opposite of legends." Mabel said. Randy grew angry. "Give us one good reason we shouldn't throw you off this ship right now." "Same." Dipper agreed. "Because Gideon wouldn't listen to your commands and you'd be stuck here forever." Rip explained.
"Great, so we're not an elite team of heroes on a sanctioned mission, sent to rid the future of its most horrific bad guy. We're just a collection of nobodies who time really doesn't care about." Ben said depressed. "I didn't lie to you about the mission itself. Or the brutality and ruthlessness of Savage. Or my need for you help." Rip retorted. "But why?" Danny asked. "Excuse me?" "I don't imagine you're the kind of guy who quits his job and takes on this kind of threat because it's the right thing to do, so Rip, tell us: what did Vandal Savage do to you?" Rip closed his eyes for a second and answered the question. "The Time Masters discourage marriage. They urge against procreation even more. A time Master should be free of any personal entanglements that might compromise him. But…I fell in love, and we had a child. A boy. Jonas."
Rip then thought back to London, where he returned to his home and found his wife and son on the ground dead. He held them in his arms as he cried in pain. "Savage killed your family." Kim said in realization. "He slaughtered my family. And thousands of other families." Rip said in agony. "And the body that I swore an oath to serve turned a blind eye. They continue to turn a blind eye. I won't." Rip turned to the others. "The last thing my child saw in this world was that monsters face. Well you can be damn well sure that when Savage dies, the last thing he sees will be mine." The group looked upset. Rip sighed. "I understand given, the circumstances, if you wish to return home. We can make the jump once the repairs are done, if and when Professor Boardman stabilizes." The team looked at each other before Steven spoke up. "I think we need a little time think about it."
Jenny stood in the MedBay with Professor Boardman. "Just get some rest. I'm so sorry." The professor smiled. "It's ok, in a way this is a blessing. I'm finally going to see my father again." HE gripped Jenny's hand. "Promise me something. Promise me that no matter what happens, you'll stop Savage before he hurts anyone else." Jenny simply nodded. "Thank you." Professor Boardman closed his eyes as he passed away. Dipper walked up to Mabel. "I'm sorry Mabel. I shouldn't have forced you to come, I mean you died today and it was all my fault. Its just, Rip was offering the adventure of a lifetime. A chance of a lifetime." "Don't get all nerdy on me now." "I mean I don't know what the future truly holds but I do know that when my time comes what do you think I want to be remembered as; a nerd or a hero?" "Hey, you are a hero. I saw you run through a battle field to save me. You are a hero and you'll still be one." "Yeah, back home." Mabel smiled. "What if I don't want to go home. Yet?" Dipper looked surprised. "What changed your mind?" "When Chronos attacked I saw everyone risking their lives to protect each other. Seeing that, I think we can trust them. Plus I kind of like being part of a team." Dipper smiled. "Me too."
The others were in the hanger recuperating from their fight with Chronos. Finally Ben spoke. What's the point of us even giving this a second thought? Rip's already seen the future. He knows exactly what's in store for each of us." Danny turned to him. "Come on it's not like our lives are that lame." "Right. You're a half ghost, you're an ex-princess, you're just another ninja in a long line of ninjas, you're the son of fake hero, and you're just a girl trying to prove her worth." Ben said. Steven looked down. "Well when you put it like that it seems pointless." "So I guess we have to accept it." Star said depressed." "I can't. I can't live with someone putting a cap on my destiny. I spent years helping people, being a hero, and some guy comes along saying that my heroics mean nothing." Kim then stood up with a determined look in her eyes. "That's not what he said. Rip said in 'his' future we're nobodies, but this mission is about changing the future. I mean, if we have the power to change the world, don't you think we have the power to change our fate?" Danny, Randy, Star, Ben, and Steven looked at each other and smiled. "For better or worse." Randy said with newfound hope.
Rip was just still working on repairs. "What do you think, Gideon?" "I calculate a less than 6% likelihood that they decide to go on with the mission." "I meant about the repairs." "And there has been another unfortunate consequence of Chronos' attack. Care to hear about it?" "Not really." Jenny then walked into the room sad. "He's gone. Professor Boardman is gone." "I'm very sorry." "Actually, you don't get the blame for this. This was my fault." Jenny then sat down. "If I hadn't insisted on bringing him with us he might've died peacefully, in his sleep maybe." Rip walked up to her. "Don't torture yourself with recriminations. One of the great lessons of time travel is that many things cannot be changed. Time wants to happen. Chronos, even Vandal, won't be the only enemy we face. Very often, it will be time itself.
As the rest of the team walked in Danny spoke. "Whether it wants to happen or not, we're gonna change time, erase Savage's future, and earn our rightful place in history." Steven Spoke next. "Danny's right. We may not be legends in your time, Captain, but we are going to decide our own fates." Jenny then interjected. "I don't care if I'm remembered as a legend. But I made a promise to Professor Boardman and I intend to keep it." "I can get with that." Randy said. Ben turned to Dipper and Mabel. "What about you guys?" The twins looked at each other and nodded. "We're in." Mabel answered. "So how do we find this guy?" Dipper asked. Rip took his seat. "Professor Boardman had a theory about that. I've already had Gideon plot a course." The ship then proceeded to their destination.

Savage was walking towards a crate. "You know what this is?" he asked as he opened it revealing a nuclear bomb. "An instrument to make this world a better place. History teaches us that the cause of humanity is caused through strife. There's no Renaissance without the Dark Ages." He then turned to his men. "Man had no interest in splitting the atom until World War II. I'm just trying to make this world a better place, one war at a time."
