Before we begin: Hey guys! I saw the extreme lack of Kazumin fanfics and decided to write my own, but also make what I believe to be, an interesting story out of it. This is my first ever fanfiction in general. So please give constructive criticism! I hope you enjoy. I plan on making this a fairly long series and I've got the story mapped out! Also please keep in mind that English is not my first language, if you see any grammatical errors please make me aware of them!
Part 1
"EXPLOSION"
In the next instant my mind went blank.
I found myself in a room that I had grown far too familiar with, I was seated on a very comfortable throne like chair that wouldn't be amiss in the halls of the Royal Palace while being surrounded by a black void of cold empty nothingness. Facing me was a woman with silvery white hair wearing her iconic purple dress while sitting down on an even more regal chair with a concerned expression adorned on her face and tears lurking at the corner of her eyes, who were threatening to invade her face and damage its pristine beauty.
"Eris!?"
"You have two choices. You can move to heaven and spend the rest of eternity in comfort and luxury, or you can choose to be reincarnated back in Japan with all the luxuries you could ever dream of"
Surprisingly, the answer didn't come from Eris. It came from the loudmouthed blue haired Goddess next to her.
"Aqua!?"
"..."
She kept her face turned away from me
"If you are here… does that mean I killed him? The Devil King?"
"...yes"
That single word made my legs weak, the mission, the goal I had been sent here to fulfil… was accomplished? By me? I couldn't believe it! My entire body started uncontrollably shaking from my head all the way to my translucent legs. I was so happ- wait! Translucent? My entire body from my feet to my shoulders was translucent…
"...What happened to my body?"
"You have two choices. You can move to heaven and spend the rest of eternity in comfort, or you can choose to be reincarnated back in Japan with all the luxuries you could ever dream of. In either case you will be far away from party members that cause nothing but trouble for you, you'll be far away from taking the responsibility for debts gathered by your useless Goddess, far away from danger, far away from the nuisance of your party members. You will live a safe, happy life with no problems… that is what you're looking for right?"
Aqua answered me again, actually turning to face me this time but she couldn't stop the rivers of genuine tears that started flowing from her eyes causing her to hold onto Eris as support.
"I can't be resurrected now, is that it?"
"Yes" Eris replied, barely above a whisper
I slunk back into my chair, my body must have been destroyed alongside the Devil King's body. It must have been pretty bad if both the Goddesses couldn't do anything about it. My thoughts went back to wishes I had previously rambled on about, a life of luxury? Comfort? Peace? Why the fuck would I care about that now!? Compared to everybody else I lived luxuriously, I owned a mansion, had connections to the royal house and multiple powerful noble houses and had more than enough money.
I had comfort in my companions, Aqua's constant antics and insufferable personality made everything lively, Darkness was one of my closest friends even if she could be heavy handed in trying to get off with her fetish and Megumin.
I'll never see Megumin again, I won't have any memories of her. I wanted to progress things between us after this, I wanted to turn my full attention towards her but now… I'll never see her again. I will never go with her on an explosion trip, never see her smile or laugh, in fact I would lose all my memories of her. My brain was invaded by all sorts of emotions, none of them good. This is ten times worse than when I saw my crush riding on the bike of your typical high school bad boy, ten times worse than my Shut-in hikiNEET days.
Just as these emotions were threatening to invade my consciousness for good, a booming voice shouted out
"There is another option"
Man… if I looked and felt confused right now my companions were five times more confused.
"I am the supreme God, Nareum! Although this would never happen in any other scenario I will present you with a third option considering you managed to fulfil the task that thousands have failed at"
"What is it?" I replied not even trying to hide my irritation that was mixed with anticipation. If this guy was some "Supreme God" and could reincarnate me I would do anything. Make any sacrifice if it meant I could go back, If it meant I could see them again, If I could see her again.
I gulped awaiting his response
"I hear your resolve human, worry not for I can indeed reincarnate you back! As long as you fulfil my task"
"I'll do it!" I enthusiastically said while ignoring the fact that this Nareum guy could apparently read my thoughts.
"Very well then Kazuma Satou, you are to be reincarnated back into that world and by any means necessary kill the Devil king's daughter, the last standing Devil king general, and end the blood line which will end this cycle of blood and pain."
I was relieved. I wasn't scared or nervous, it didn't matter how difficult a task it would be I would do it.
"When you reincarnate you are to take Aqua, since she was the original cheat that you picked when you first came here"
I glanced over at Aqua who wasn't moody or sulking like I had expected her to be, she seemed genuinely happy as she threw me a serene smile.
"I see that you are ready to go back, if you have nothing to ask me then I shall be heading off-"
"Wait!" I hastily shouted while deliberately trying not to think about the idea that suddenly crossed my mind, so that the mind reading God couldn't deny it instantly.
"Hm? What is it, Kazuma Satou?" Good, it seems he wasn't reading my mind at that particular moment.
The two Goddesses looked towards me with a look of shock and nervousness on their faces. It seemed they really admired but also feared this Nareum guy, maybe I shouldn't go through with this after all…
"No, I am intrigued. Tell me what you are trying to hide from your thoughts"
Ah right… he could read my mind. Mentally preparing myself to barter with a God, I turned to look at the void and while putting my best business voice I asked him.
"Technically speaking this is my second time being reincarnated into this world, correct?"
"Yes, previously you have only been resurrected as your body was still in the world, but know you are to be reincarnated fully with a brand new body"
"My task still has not changed right? I must defeat the Devil king, in this case the Devil king's daughter who is now the holder of the title of "Devil King" or "Devil Queen" or whatever?" I carefully elaborated as I established important points for my argument.
"You are correct"
"If that's the case and I'm being fully reincarnated into this world to defeat the new Devil King… doesn't that mean that I get to pick out a cheat before being reincarnated to help me out? Since this is my second reincarnation I should get a second cheat right?"
"..."
"..."
"..."
Several seconds passed as I went over my previous actions, had I been too hasty? What if he doesn't let me reincarnate anymore? Will he give me divine punishment?
"Hahahahah"
I ignored these thoughts and instead focused on the booming laughter that I heard.
"I see why the Devil king lost to you, Kazuma Satou! You are a cunning man"
"Thank you" I awkwardly replied.
"Very well, you have made a good point and have thoroughly entertained me. I shall allow you to take another cheat"
"Well then I pick Eri-"
"You are not allowed to pick any Gods as cheats"
"What!? Why?"
"Aqua's absence has put a lot of extra work on everybody else's shoulders, so much so that they forced me to make a new rule that reincarnates cannot pick Gods as cheats"
Oh, my bad!
"You can pick any power or weapon that Eris has available. Aqua since you haven't been here for a bit I give you permission to stay in heaven for a couple days before going down to join Kazuma Satou on his journey. Eris, show this boy the available options. Kazuma Satou as always, if you fulfil this request you can make whatever request you'd like of the Gods! Now with that I must go! I shall be looking at your progress boy! Hahahahaha!"
And with that the voice abruptly cut off. As I was reflecting over the events that took place in the last few minutes the two Goddesses pulled me into a tight embrace.
"I-I'm sho glad… sho glad that shings worked out for you in the end" Aqua was crying tears of joy and spreading snot onto my translucent green tracksuit. In any other situation I would have been extremely pissed off, but now I'm as happy as ever.
Aqua slowly pulled away from me and wiped her face with her hand and smiled at me
"I should get going now, I've got a lot of people to catch up with… I'll see you back at our mansion, okay?"
"Sure-"
"Oh and don't do anything reckless while your all powerful Goddess isn't there alright?"
"I heard you call yourself useless a bit ago, you can't deny it now can you?" i teased her
Aqua made a pouting face for a bit but it quickly disappeared.
"I was really scared, Kazuma… I though you had genuinely died and that it was all my fault! I don't even want to know how I would be feeling right now if Lord Nareum didn't interfere. So I'm extremely glad that you have another chance! Anyway, I should go now, I'll see you back at the Mansion, I'll get you souvenirs from Heaven! " she said as she flew off into the void.
It was a very rare occasion when Aqua would admit her mistakes, so she must've felt horrible after I had died. I'm glad I was able to make it out alive, for both our sakes.
"I sometimes envy how fast senpai can switch between emotions… sometimes" Eris said as she addressed me with a smile.
"I have to agree with you, it is impressive! So anyway, can I look at my cheats now?"
"Yes, of course! Sorry for the delay" Eris replied while snapping her fingers. A large and thick book fell into my hands, the same one I looked through when I was first reincarnated.
I quickly sat back down on my chair and started excitedly flipping through pages. Minutes ago I was overridden by depression but not anymore! I get an actually useful cheat! My own power! No one back home can make fun of me anymore. I will pick a cheat that will make me more powerful than the Devil King himself. Should I get a weapon? Or an innate ability? I've never felt so spoiled for choice in my life!
Seconds passed into minutes as I sped through the book. I wanted a general overview of all the cheats before I looked in depth at specific ones, and narrow it down from there. That was the plan until an ability caught my eye, one near the end of the book.
Energy Manipulation
Similar to your mana store, if you pick this cheat you are given an energy store. People with this cheat store energy within their very cells. Energy naturally replenishes over time from the surroundings, location doesn't increase or hinder it's regeneration.
As the name implies, the person with this cheat can manipulate the energy in their cells in any way they wish. The more control and practise one has, the more powerful this skill will be.
Energy can be used to fire beams of energy at your enemies, it can also be manipulated into any shape and solidified so one can make actual weapons of energy.
The same technique can be used to create a shield or protective layer.
If an individual has high levels of skill and control, it is possible to use energy to control every atom in an area (size of are depending on individual skill) this is known as "Total control" and is the most powerful ability that you can access with this skill.
"Hey Eris, I've got a question" I said to the Goddess who was patiently waiting for me to pick my skill (unlike a certain someone)
"What is it?"
"On paper this skill sounds amazing, it's impossible that I'm the first person to notice it, so why is it still here?"
"Energy Manipulation? I actively deter people from picking that cheat"
"Why?"
"It's incredibly powerful but also incredibly dangerous, not only to the world but to the user as well. Energy Manipulation requires a lot of practice to use, if one goes past what they are capable of using at that point they will go through excruciating pain, if they lose control over the energy it will rip through their body and blow them to pieces. In the wrong hands, this skill could be used in a manner so devastating that the Devil King's antics would be seen as mercy. So it was our policy to deter people that we had little faith in and people that we saw as too weak from acquiring this cheat"
"Is that so?" I absentmindedly replied as I weighed the pros and cons of this cheat, while I wasn't the biggest fan of experiencing excruciating pain and being blown to pieces and spending hours practising to improve my control. I couldn't deny the fact that the pros outweigh the cons. It may take time to get used to it, but if I plan properly I can maximise my procrastination to skill improvement ratio, I could master this skill!. I can't let a skill this powerful go to waste.
"I'll take it"
"A-are you sure!?"
"Yes, definitely. Unless the Gods don't have faith in my morals?"
"No, that's not what I meant. Just… are you sure you can handle it?"
"I can't make promises but I will try my best" I said as I put on my confident voice and beamed at her.
"I-in that case… Hero! I wish luck upon your journey and mission and pray for your successful return to the realm of the Gods to receive your reward, now go forth and step into your world!"
As she said that a door made of the purest light appeared before me. I smiled at Eris as I stepped back into the Devil King's castle.
Part 2
The moment the white light disappeared I got tackled to the ground with brutish force. I almost thought the Devil king's army was back and were trying to take revenge for their leader until I noticed the short brown hair that I loved to brush through and the distinct golden blonde hair of a certain masochistic crusader. These were my party members, they were not attacking me, they were pulling me into a loving (but still painful) embrace.
"Megumin!? Darkness!?"
"K-Kazuma?… i-is that r-really y-you?" Megumin asked me with tears streaming down her face.
"Kazuma! What happened! Are you Okay!?" Darkness screamed at me
Huh!? What were these guys so worried about?
I looked around my surroundings and understood. Just a couple metres away from me lay the remains of my old body, it had been ripped to shreds by the explosion and my face was barely recognisable. The Devil King's body was in bits and pieces, scattered around the room along with my own.
I spent so much time talking to that Nareum guy and picking a cheat so they likely came here to find me but found my remains instead.
"Yes it's me, I'm fine, I'm A-OK, I just spent some time talking with the Gods. I'm sorry it took so long and that I worried you so much."
At my words Megumin and Darkness both hugged me tighter, we stayed like that for a few moments before I pushed them away and they (unwillingly) stepped back.
"Let's go home first, back to Axel. This was way too tiring" I said as I smiled
Both of them returned it with serene smiles of their own and nodded. Just then Yunyun burst into the room, her face filled with worry and desperation.
"Please hurry! Mitsurugi is in really bad shape!" That was all she said before she ran off.
The others and I quickly followed her through the hallways and rooms of the Devil King's castle until finally we made it to the room where Mitsurugi was. There was a deep wound into his stomach and his face was as pale as the moon, he was lying on the floor clearly in pain with his harem of two girls crying over him.
"Please! Please help him, we will do anyth-"
"Spare the NPC dialogue, he's in bad shape. Aqua isn't here right now… Yunyun, do you have enough mana to teleport people to the capital?"
"I should have enough, I can use it to teleport him"
"Alright, I'll use Heal on him. That should temporarily seal his wounds, when I do that teleport yourself and Mitsurugi's party to the capital and ask for medical aid, the doctors there can make him better"
Yunyun simply nodded while I went closer to Mitsurugi.
"Heal"
A green light emerged from my fingertips that wrapped around his body, the wound got sealed up and he got a bit of colour back on his face but it was obvious this would only last a couple minutes before he went back to his previous condition.
"Alright Yunyun, quick, use Teleport. Meet us in Axel afterward-"
As I was finishing Mitsurugi let go of his sword to grab my hand
"The… Devil..King?" he asked in a strained and weak voice.
"He's dead, I used Explosion on him. He can't be revived"
"A-And… Lady…. A-Aqua?"
"She's safe, now stop wasting energy!"
Upon hearing my words he let go of my hand and clutched his sword once again. Yunyun quickly made her way over to them and used Teleport.
After Mitsurugi and his harem left I turned to my party members.
"We should get going as well, come here. I'll teleport us back to the mansion"
Upon hearing my words Megumin and Darkness came closer to me. I then used Teleport to bring us back to Axel, the town of beginners and onto the front door of our mansion.
As we entered our house Darkness asked me
"Kazuma, what happened to Aqua?"
"She is spending a couple days in heaven catching up with friends, don't worry. She will be right back to cause more problems for us in a couple days"
Both Darkness and Megumin breathed a sigh of relief and smiled.
"I'm so glad the party won't be incomplete no-"
"Hey, how many times do I have to mention that you shouldn't trigger Flags!?"
Both of them giggled at my comment.
"You're right Kazuma, I shouldn't say stuff like that. But I am glad that you are back with us"
"Glad to be here!" I beamed at Darkness.
As we were laughing, Chomosuke ran up to Megumin and jumped on her.
"Woah! Hey there, did my familiar miss her beloved master?"
"She seems pretty energetic, looks like Vanir has taken good care of her"
"Speaking of which, where is he?"
"He probably saw us coming back and went back to the shop"
"Yeah you're probably right, we should thank him for looking after everything while we were gone"
"Yeah we should go see him tomorrow"
Even though my soul had been through a lot, being killed twice in a difficult battle, being fully reincarnated in a new body and immediately using magic afterwards, I was weirdly not too tired. But I wasn't sure if I should tell them about my reincarnation… that would make them worry too much, they must already be pretty tired. I'll tell them when they're energised.
"I'm extremely tired, I'll skip the bath and dinner for today and head straight to bed. Don't wake me up for at least two days" I lied.
The other two nodded in agreement.
"Agreed, I'm tired as well. I'll be heading to bed as well. I cannot wait to hear about your fight with the Devil King and the tortures he put you through!" Darkness said the last part with a small blush appearing on her face.
I glared at her as she made her way upstairs and entered her room. Honestly! How can she be more perverted than me?
After that I slowly went upstairs and into my room. I was so focused on going over today's events that I almost didn't notice the other person that followed me in.
"Oi, Megumin… what are you doing?"
"Kazuma… can I sleep with you tonight? P-please?" Megumin asked with her crimson eyes burning bright..
After what I had gone through when I had died, I wasn't about to refuse her..
"...Okay"
I didn't bother changing into my nightwear and jumped straight into bed. Megumin quickly followed. As she got in under the sheets she wrapped her arms around me and pulled herself close to me and nuzzled her face against my chest. She used one of her hands to sift through my hair while the other was tightly wrapped around me. I wrapped my arms around her small frame and sifted through her hair as well which caused her to release sighs of relief and pleasure indicating that she was very much enjoying this. Not that I wasn't enjoying it, I most definitely was. Anybody would if the girl they love clung to them like this.
"K-Kazuma?"
"Yes I'm Kazuma"
Slightly smiling the girl looked up at me with her crimson eyes still flared up. The moon light bounced off her face and perfectly highlighted her beauty, all the way from her eyes to her nose to her cute short brown hair. In this moment she looked absolutely divine.
"I'm so… I'm so glad t-that you're a-alive… I don't know what would have happened if you had been dead for real" she softly spoke while tears streamed down her face.
"I don't ever want to lose you Kazuma. When you killed the Devil King, Aqua suddenly disappeared, then we found your body i-in that state and I was sure that you were unrevivable… I guess you had to use Explosion to kill the Devil king huh?... You probably don't know what I'm talking about… but I never want to experience that again"
"I know exactly what you're talking about"
"Huh!?" She looked up at me confused.
"When I was talking to the Gods I was initially told that I could not be revived. That thought crushed my soul, the prospect of never coming back, never seeing you again put me in such a bad state that I almost lost my mind" I decided to tell Megumin a bit of the truth since she was opening up to me like this. I wanted to return the favour.
She looked at me, unable to speak. So I continued.
"When they said there was a third option I took it without hesitation. Because I didn't want to leave you behind, lose my memories of you. Even if I'm tasked with killing the Devil King's daughter"
"That moment made me realise something, realise how important you are to me. I can't evade it any more… I-I Love you Megumin, as a lover. I love your determination to pursue something even if you meet resistance in every step along the way, even if it might be annoying at times your chuuni act can be quite cute. I love how you care for all of us and give me special treatment. I love it all!'' I said everything in a surprisingly good flow before my face was attacked by a blush so strong the colour could rival megumin's eyes.
She looked at me shocked. So I took advantage of the opportunity and sat up in second I was offered the chance to reincarnate, I decided that I would pursue Megumin with everything I had. Now is as good of a time as ever to tell her how I feel.
"M-Megumin… will you be my g-girlfriend?"
Seconds passed as Megumin just looked at me. My heart started racing and I began to sweat profusely and thoughts filled my head. Was I too hasty? What if she changed her stance on our relationship? Would she be even willing to be in a relationship with a HikiNEET like me?
Just as those thoughts were filling my head Megumin sat up in bed and embraced me, I hugged her back. Then she slightly pulled back and used her hand to push my face towards her face, more specifically, towards her lips. Noticing her intent I slowly moved my head forwards and closed my eyes as our lips made contact.
I passionately kissed Megumin as she returned the favour, although this wasn't our first time kissing; the ambiance, mood and passion made it ten times better than the first one. As time passed we stayed in that exact same position for Eris knows how long. After a while I felt her tongue against my lip, understanding what she had in mind I let her tongue enter my mouth.
We waged war on each other's mouths as we fought with our tongues exploring every centimetre of available space. This went on for a while but I had to pull away as I was short on air, Megumin tried to keep going but stopped when she noticed why I pulled back. As we pulled back a single strand of saliva bridged her lips and mine. After catching her breath she sent me the widest smile I have ever seen her give anyone.
"D-Did that answer your question?"
"W-well yes… but I wanted to hear you say it!" I replied.
"Geez Kazuma! Are you that desperate for me to confess to you?"
"Well I poured my heart out to you, so I at least expect you to return the favour, and maybe even do a couple more favours in the future"
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that last part… and I already poured my heart out to you long before this happened after we fought Wolbach!"
"I know that! I'm just saying it would be nice to hear something back once you confess, you know?"
"Ugh if you're that compliment starved I guess I can do it" she said with a smile
She needs to drop the tsundere act already.
"A-alright then… K-Kazuma.." she began
"How can you change from confident and assertive to shy and submissive that quickly?" I interjected
"Sh-shut up, do you want to hear it or not? And I didn't think you would have a problem with me being submissive, I was clearly mistake-"
"I offer my deepest apologies, I will not repeat my insolence again. I would like to make it clear that I have no problem with your submissiveness"
"Er.. anyway… K-Kazuma, I love you… I love you for the fact that you never abandoned me, even if you had every right and every chance to do so, I love you for the fact that even though you scream at us and get easily annoyed by us you still deeply care about all of us. I love you for the fact that no matter how many times you asked me to learn advanced magic, when I offered it to you, you made me stick to the path of explosions. I love you for the fact that you are you, a perverted lazy man that deeply cares for his companions and would do anything for them. I would love to be your g-girlfriend"
"Ah yes I was wondering when the backhanded compliments would show up" I said
Megumin giggled at my response, although I had heard it thousands of times by now it sounded like music to my ears. Right then and there I made a promise to myself. I have to protect her laugh.
"Thank you Megumin" I said as I pulled her into another passionate making out session
After some time we quickly laid back down in bed, our arms tightly wrapped around each other like ribbon on a present as we gazed into each other's eyes.
"Kazuma?"
"Despite everything, I'm still Kazuma"
"Does this mean that we have graduated from the 'more than friends less than lover' thing?"
"Y-Yeah I suppose we are… so do you wanna go public with our relationship then?"
"I see no problems with it, besides I have to show off to Yunyun that I'm in a relationship now!"
"Right…"
"Kazuma now that we're in a relationship I would like to set some ground rules"
"Okay, I understand"
"Good. First, no flirting with other women. That includes using Steal to get their panties!"
"Yes, yes. I'm the type of guy that can only handle one girl, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I cheated. But the last part is ridiculous! Using Steal is my style! It might be entirely luck based but using Steal and suddenly experiencing the heavenly feeling of holding the cloth that acts as the only barrier between a woman's privates and the outside world is something else! I cannot easily let that go"
"I-in that case… You can use Steal, but the target can only be me. Okay?"
I felt my face get hot and the feeling of my Son waking up as I looked at the blushing Megumin who sported a smug grin on her face.
"Wow you are so easy to arouse" she smugly said as she likely felt my Son waking up and pressing up against her.
"Since you're so eager to get me aroused, why don't we move onto the next step then? You can use your hands can't you"
"W-what!?"
It was my turn to smugly grin while looking at Megumin whose face was as red as her eyes.
"Like I s-said before… I-I don't mind helping you out… or even going f-further, as long as you take responsibility" she timidly said as she looked into my eyes
Huh!? What? Is this an invitation, I thought there was only a 10% chance of handjob because of my previous declaration but… is this an invitation to further? Is this it? Am I finally going to lose my virginity? Oh thank Eris! I will be making a great donation to your Church.
"But… I don't want to go that far today, I just want to talk and set up the ground rules I mentioned before…"
That damn temptress! Blue-balling me AGAIN? I scream these thoughts in my head but not wanting to ruin the mood we've been building, I stopped myself from saying them- Wait! What does she mean 'that far'? How far is she willing to go? I'll keep this going for now and see how it progresses.
"Okay that's fine, we'll progress at your rate… so what's the next rule?" I sighed and said, which caused Megumin to smile at me. She Blue-balled me but I could still relieve my pent up urges in another way. Looks like I'll pay a visit to the succubus cafe tomorrow!
"The next rule is about your visits to that Succubus cafe-"
"Hold it you damn temptress, you can't just Blue-ball me and expect me to live with it. I need to relieve my urges somehow! You can't take away my rights!"
"I-is it really that bad?"
"YES!"
"Fine, we can update the rules later on in our relationship anyway. So for now, whenever you go there… could please request dreams of me and no one else? That would keep my mind at ease" Megumin said timidly
"Deal! From now on I will only request dreams of you, what a wonderfu-... wait… how do you even know about the cafe?"
"I'm the once in a century genius from the Crimson demon village, do you not think I would be able to unravel such a simple mystery"
I guess there was some truth to that whole 'genius' thing after all, the cafe was a very well kept secret among the men in Axel.
"I suppose you're right, I accept this condition from now on I will ravage you and only you in my dreams"
"Is it too late to reconsider this relationship?" Megumin asked teasingly. I nodded.
"But I have to thank you Kazuma, I understand my requests, at least the last one can be hard for you. I understand that you might still need the cafe even when we start getting intimate because my body isn't your ideal type… but please put up with th-"
I quickly held a finger up to her lips and stopped her from continuing.
"Don't. I hate it when you sell yourself short, when I said I fell in love with all of you, your body was included in it as well. I love it."
Megumin quickly started blushing and fidgeting.
"I-is that s-so… w-what do you like about my body then?"
Huh!?
