The Dreyar siblings, Laxus and Lucy Dreyar, grew up with no mother. They had a father who was never satisfied with them, which understandably isn't really a good father figure. They also had their grandfather who was a wizard saint in his own right. They grew up in the shadows of their powerful grandfather and neglectance from their father. It didn't help that their father forcefully put a lacrima inside their frail bodies. They became bitter and closed off to everyone, treating their guildmates with no respect.
"Ne, ne, Laxus-nii-chan, Fairy Tail is so weak neh?" asked the smaller blonde of the two, with her head tilted adorably. But the guild members didn't let that fool them as they saw the crazed look in her eyes.
"Hmph, exactly Lu, when I become guild master the first thing I do will be to kick these fucking sore losers out," declared the older blonde, Laxus, as their team, the Raijinshu, flocked his side while they head towards Lucy.
Natsu Dragneel was filed with rage, "Laxus! Lucy! Fight me and let's see who's the loser!" Lucy could only giggle while her brother smirked as the angry Fire Dragon Slayer went flying towards them. However, before he could land a hit and, definitely, lose to the two siblings, a huge hand stopped him.
"Natsu, you brat, stop fighting!" an old man growled out, "And you, Laxus, Lucy! Stop provoking your nakama!"
The two blonde siblings could only let out a tch at their grandfather. Who does he think he is?! "C'mon Lucy, let's go." Laxus said. The younger blonde, and their team, followed her older brother as he walked out of the guild.
"Damned brats are giving me a migraine. They're starting to sound like Ivan, Sigh", stressed Makarov as he watched his two grandchildren strut out of his beloved guild. "There, there, Master. I'm sure they don't mean that," said Mirajane, though she knows that was just a fleeting dream. No one knew what happened to them, they used to be bright children who enjoyed with their nakama in the past.
"I hope for the love of Mavis that you're right Mira," responded the old man. He really missed his grandchildren who, in the past, used to run towards him, shouting 'Jiji' in their wake.
Natsu woke up from being hit by the Master and suddenly jumped up, "Where are they?! Let them fight me!" as fire spew out of his mouth. "You'll only just lose to them flame-brain," retorted a man who was wearing nothing more than just his boxers. This man's name is Gray Fullbuster.
"Watcha say Ice princess?!"
"Exactly what I said, are you deaf pyro huh?!"
Gray and Natsu clashed as they threw insults to one another. "Enough! Master just said that no fighting!" A beautiful scarlett haired woman smashed their heads together as she said that. Her name is Erza Scarlet. The people surrounding them could only sweatdrop at the, sadly, normal scene in front of them.
Unfortunately, Mira's words were proven wrong.
"Huh?! Help you against Phantom?!" asked Laxus incredulously at the white haired bar maid.
They were in a guild war with Phantom Lord. It was fortunate that they attacked during the night where nobody was present inside the guild hall. The real problem started when Black Steel Gajeel Redfox attacked Team Shadow gear on their way home. He nailed Jet and Droy to the park tree and kidnapped Levy. This made Master Makarov really angry and so, Fairy Tail stormed into Phantom Lord's guild hall. The fight was going well until they saw their master fall to the ground, really pale and devoid of magic. They were then forced to retreat, and managed to get back Levy on the way back.
And this is how they were in their current predicament, asking Laxus and Lucy to help them in defeating Phantom. Although, they were having a hard time in getting them to help.
"Tch, we'll only help if you become my woman, Mira," Laxus said smugly. "Oh hell no, c'mon Laxus aren't you worried for the guild?" Cana asked angrily at him.
"What makes you think I care about that pathetic guild?" Laxus shot back as he raised a blond eyebrow. Mira could only stare at Laxus before redirecting her question at Lucy.
"Lucy-chan, please help us," begged Mirajane at the more quieter blonde. She was silent so Mira silently wished she would at least come help them.
"Mira, Mira, Mira. Laxus refused to help you so why should I help you?" Mira was crushed when she heard that. She really hoped that Lucy would understand, though clearly she wasn't willing. Natsu, hearing their conversation, unconsciously destroyed the lacrima, his body trembling with rage. "Natsu!" exclaimed Mira but her scolding wasn't heard.
They were gonna win this guild war, with or without their help. Natsu swore that on his life.
After the Fight with Phantom
The Fairy Tail guild were celebrating their win against Phantom Lord. Having the cured Master Makarov defeat Jose Porla really turned the tide at them. Also, with Natsu defeating Gajeel, needless to say Phantom was disbanded. So no one could really blame the Fairies' when they partied to their hearts content as they rebuilt their destroyed home.
Though this merry time was broken by a voice they didn't wish to hear. "The losers managed to win against Phantom. Guess not all of you are weaklings after all," boomed a voice. Some turned to the table far from the cheerful group of mages.
"Laxus!" shouted Erza. Now this got the attention of all the mages. "Why didn't you help us?!"
"Scarlet, we had to see who was deserving to stay inside the guild when Laxus becomes master ya' know," answered Lucy in the stead of Laxus. This comment made Erza angrier and she threw a barrel at the quintet. However, instead of hitting them, purple runes glowed and redirected the flying barrel towards the other side of the still in construction guild hall, which subsequently hit Natsu and Gray.
"Miss Scarlet, please take your barbarian-ess elsewhere. Laxus-sama and Lucy-sama nearly got hit by the barrel," cooly said Freed, as the other members of the Raijinshu, Evergreen and Bickslow, stood with him, forming a sort of barrier between the Dreyar siblings and the rest of the guild members. The two blondes could only smirk at the mages.
That's when Natsu decided he wanted to fight. "Fight me you cowards!" The siblings looked at each other and then back to the enraged Dragon slayer. "With pleasure," said Lucy, smirking, as she fished out a golden key from the pouch attached to her waist.
"Open, gate of the lion! Leo!" she chanted. What they saw truly shocked them. Their missing guildmate, Loke, came with a bright light, with mane like hair, dressed in a black and white suit, completed with navy colored glasses.
The lion spirit looked at the guild as his fist started to glow. "I'm sorry for this," was what he said before he launched at the slayer. Before Natsu's fist could collide with Loke's, however, a giant hand, not unlike their guild master's squashed both of them, sending the spirit back to the spirit world and making Natsu pass out. The watching members felt deja vu at the scene.
Lucy tore her gaze from the spot where her beloved spirit disappeared. She touched Leo's key, sending a mental sorry to the spirit. She then looked at her grandfather in rage. How dare he!
"Laxus! Lucy! I had enough of you both! Get out of the guild right now, you've caused nothing but trouble!" the Master angrily demanded at them. He was going to have a heart attack one of these days.
The Raijinshu with their Leaders walked out of the guild, not before glaring at the rest of the guild.
"Man, I wonder what happened to the sweet Lucy-chan we knew of," complained Macao as his drinking buddy, Wakaba, agreed with him.
Timeskip to Fantasia
It was that time in Magnolia. Confettis and decorations hang up on the streets, people from all over the country coming to celebrate Fantasia. People were chatting merrily, shopping various of things, soaking in the liveliness of the town.
Although, arguably, the guild of Fairy Tail was the liveliest of them all. With their newly built guild hall, lots of people were able to fit inside as they host Miss Fairy Tail.
First to come out was Erza Scarlet, requiping on a lolita black dress. This earned her a lot of cheer from the males.
Up next was Fairy Tail's poster girl, Mirajane Strauss. She showed the crowd her transformation magic, transforming her face into Happy's and then Gajeel's, which made many of them hurl.
Next was Levy Mcgarden, showing them her solid script magic. Then Bisca came out, requiping her gun. Cana made her appearance wearing her usual bikini making the other boys noses bleed. Finally, it was Juvia Lockser's, previously from Phantom Lord, now a Fairy, turn. She was wearing a polka dotted purple bikini, which made the crowd roar with delight. "Juvia is sure to win this pageant," she said with confidence before adding " and Gray-sama's love!" as she used her water magic. The now naked ice user could only shudder at the thought.
Suddenly, they were interrupted by a female laugh as Evergreen, dressed in a green dress, hair held up in a side ponytail style by a rubberband, and glasses on the eyes. They eyed her warily as she took off her glasses. Juvia made the mistake of looking at her and promptly turned to stone. Then the backdrop fell to the floor and the crowd saw the rest of the girls turned into stone. This action made the non magical crowd fearful as they stormed out of the guild.
The rest of the Raijinshu came out with Lucy and Laxus at the center.
"Evergreen! Turned them back to normal this instant!" demanded their master angrily.
"Hahaha," Laxus and Lucy both laughed obnoxiously at the order, "What makes you think we'll let her do that?" with a smirk, Laxus announced this to the mages, "There will be a battle of Fairy Tail, last one standing is the winner. Defeat us and your precious nakama are safe."
"Not abiding the rules with result in one of these statues getting smashed," added Lucy crazily, "Or you know, we could just destroy them right here." Cue laughter.
"Don't you dare!"
"C'mon Gramps, defeat us if you can," Laxus said that tauntingly. With that, they disappeared with a flash of light and lightning.
The rest of the mages, fearful for their friends, rushed out of the guild. The Master trembled with raged. He looked around the guild and saw only Natsu and Gray remaining.
"I'm gonna knock some sense into those brats!" Just as he was about to exit the guild, a barrier stopped him from doing so. Try as he may, no matter how hard he pushes, he couldn't go through.
"Gramps, what's the matter?" questioned Gray when he saw that the Master couldn't get out.
That's when they saw words starting to form from the entrance. It read "Ages above 60 aren't allowed to participate." This only led to the Master getting more angrier.
"Don't worry Gramps, I'm gonna defeat them," declared the Ice-Make mage as he, too, rushed out with Happy, who wanted to help, following after him.
Natsu, who was quiet, suddenly piped up. "Gramps, I didn't think Laxus and Lucy would go this far."
"I know Natsu, I know," responded the elderly, solemnly.
With that, Natsu tried to rushed out after Gray. However, he was stopped by the runes too. "Gah?!?"
Makarov's eyes widened. "Natsu, you're 60 years old?!"
"Obviously not, Gramps!" Natsu tried to defend himself.
That was when they heard metals scrapping at the bar area. They saw the Iron Dragon Slayer eating the utensils. "Gajeel?!"
"Metal freak, what are you doing here?!" shouted Natsu at the unsuspecting slayer. "I'm munching on some snacks, can't you see huh?!" the slayer hotly replied. Thus came the insult war between the Fire Dragon Slayer and the Iron Dragon Slayer
Makarov snapped out of his reverie and became frustrated at the two. "Nevermind that, Gajeel go out there and beat them!"
"Okay, okay, I'll beat them in your place seeing as you and Salamander can't get out, gihi." He ended the phrase with his usual weird laugh. Only to bump into the same runes that wouldn't let the Master and Natsu out. "Huh?!"
"GAHAHAHA, you can't get out too," laughed Natsu, which started a bicker session once again. Makarov could only facepalm at the two. He hoped that his other brats would win.
Watching his brats defeat one another was incredibly painful for the Master of Fairy Tail. He couldn't bear to see his precious children attack each other all for the sake of entertainment by his grandchildren.
For Natsu though, seeing Gray and Happy lose to Bickslow (that ice prick and Happy?!) was the last straw. "That's it Gramps! I'm getting Erza out!" With that he sped towards the stage where the said girl was. He laid her down and let his hand flame up. Master Makarov watched the action warily. Was it really a good idea to do that to Erza of all people?
It was going well until the stone cracked. Gajeel, Natsu, and the master all panicked. What were they going to do?! Finally the cracking stopped and they let out sighs of relief, only to panic again when the crack spread simultaneously.
Luckily for them, Erza was only half affected by the spell because of her artificial eye, though she did beat up Natsu because of his way of freeing her. With Erza free, they were able to defeat Evergreen and the hostages were set free.
Of course, the Dreyar siblings weren't happy by this development and activated the Thunder Palace. They prepositioned that the only way for them to deactivate it was for Master Makarov to give the title of the Master of Fairy Tail to Laxus. Master Makarov, gravely stricken by rage and anger, suddenly got a heart attack.
Bisca tried to shoot one of the lacrima in the sky, and successfully succeeded so, only to get hit right back. They then found out that the lacrimas were embedded with Body Link Magic.
With Bisca and the Master out of the game, the other girls, minus Levy, split up to try and defeat the remaining members of the Raijinshu.
"I'm going to let you guys out of here. So, Natsu, Gajeel, do your best." Levy declared as she started to work on the runes placed at the guild door. "Yosh!"
As the two slayers waited for the petite bluenette to get them out, they saw that Juvia and Cana were defeated by Freed Justine, one of the members of the Raijinshu. They were getting desperate to get out of there.
The next battle report made them sigh out of relief. Erza managed to spot Bickslow and was able to subdue him soundlessly. They, also, both cheered when they saw that Mirajane was able to defeat Freed. They didn't know how but they weren't complaining.
With the three members of the Raijinshu defeated, only Laxus and Lucy remained as the only members to defeat. And timingly, Levy was also finished with her decoding of the runes.
"Okay guys, this is it! Do your best out there and defeat Laxus and Lucy!" With that, the slayers were let out and sped through the streets of Magnolia.
•Kardia Cathedral: Lucy and Laxus•
"Damnit! How were they able to defeat them?!" roared Laxus when he found out that the rest of his team were defeated by the lousy fairies.
"Nii-chan, calm down. We still got a chance. You do realize that you and I are still standing right? Also, we still got the Thunder Palace. So chill." calmly assessed Lucy. That got Laxus to cool down. His sister was right, they were the strongest, why was he so hot headed?
The doors of the cathedral suddenly flew open and Natsu, Gajeel, and Erza (who met up with the former two on the way to the cathedral) faced off against the two siblings.
Erza, who changed into her Lightning Empress Armor, charged towards the Dreyars. Lucy, quickly thinking off her feet, summoned a spirit. "Open, Gate of the Scorpion! Scorpio!" With that, a barricade of sand was send towards the trio and cancelled Erza's lightning. "We are!"
After that attack, Lucy sent her beloved spirit back to the celestial world. "Hmph, you really think that you lot stood a chance between me and Lucy? Hah!"
"Laxus! Lucy! Stop this!" Erza said angrily. The siblings looked at each other. Is she serious?
"Titania, you really are stupid!" exclaimed Lucy as she rushed towards the red haired girl. This of course left Natsu and Gajeel to stand up against Laxus.
Blow after blow, the quintet that were battling all out were getting nowhere. Laxus and Lucy got frustrated because the three losers WON'T go down.
"Okay I had it!" roared Laxus, as he did some incantation. Thunder Palace: 5 minutes till activation was heard across the town. This prompted the two blondes to let out a maniacal laugh.
"Watcha gonna do now losers. Fight us and lose or helplessly evacuate and save the citizens," gloated Lucy. Either way, they were going to win.
After a split second decision, Erza commanded the two slayers. "Gajeel, Natsu, defeat them while I destroy the lacrimas." Without waiting for a response, she ran out of Kardia Cathedral.
Lucy was about to chase after Scarlet but was stop by Natsu. "Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" She was then forced to move back to Laxus. "Tch, how troublesome."
"C'mon lil' sis, let's show them our real power." With that, the two siblings were wrapped in incredible magic aura. Gajeel, predicting that it wouldn't end too well in their favor if he let them continue, attacked. "Roar of the Iron Dragon!"
Unluckily for them, they were a second behind. The magic dramatically made a shock wave, throwing the two known slayers to a pilar.
"Roar of the Lightning Dragon!"
"Roar of the Celestial Dragon!"
Were heard, as the two roars sped towards the other Dragon slayers. Fortunately, even in their shocked states, they were able to dodge the two attacks that, they swear to god, would have knocked them out.
"You two are Dragon slayers?!" exclaimed both Natsu and Gajeel. They were Dragon slayers so maybe they know where their dragons went.
"Don't get us wrong, a dragon didn't raise us. We were implanted with lacrimas," Lucy revealed coolly.
That was when Freed, who clearly had been defeated with the scratches and injuries littered on his body, stepped up and made his presence known. "Laxus-sama, Lucy-sama, you've got to stop this! They destroyed the lacrimas. It's time to give up."
Levy, who also just arrived, stepped in too with tears threatening to fall. "Laxus, Lucy, you got to see Master. Porlyusica came and said that he doesn't have that long to live!"
"Hah! That's good news to me! Now, I'm gonna be the master and you losers will follow my commands!" Laxus' laughter boomed around the cathedral. Lucy's reaction though, was the opposite of her brother's. "Jiji..."
Gajeel, seeing the smaller blonde distracted, took advantage of the situation. He knocked her out with a "Iron Dragon's Sword" and she was immediately knocked out.
When Laxus saw his little sister get knocked down by the Iron Dragon Slayer, all he saw was red. "You damned brat!" was all he said as he positioned his palms into a familiar move, previously casted by Master Makarov.
"Fairy Law!"
"Laxus, stop!" screamed Freed as a bright light surrounded the Cathedral. When the light burned out, another crazy laughed was heard from the now known Lighting Dragon Slayer.
However, in opposite to what he wanted, Freed, Natsu, Gajeel, and Levy were unaffected by the attack. "How?!"
"Fairy Law only affects people when the caster considers someone their enemy. You might be thinking that they are your enemy but your heart says otherwise!" Freed declared.
Taking advantage again by his opponent's confusion, Gajeel set out to attack. Unfortunately for him though, Laxus wasn't Lucy. He quickly got over it and tossed Gajeel with a "Lightning Dragon's Crushing Fang!"
With that, Gajeel was thrown aside. Seeing this, Natsu released an on slot of attacks to the standing blonde.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"
"Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!"
"Fire Dragon's Crushing Fang!
"Roar of the Fire Dragon!"
But it was useless as Laxus either evaded, defended, or cancelled it with his own attack. Damn it! This would have been easier if that metal freak didn't knock Lucy out!
Laxus finally had enough with Natsu. Lightning surrounded him as he prepared his attack. He was ready to knock Natsu out.
As he released all his magic into one attack and directed it to the tired Natsu, he didn't see Gajeel stand up. Just as the lightning attack was about to hit Natsu, it change trajectory and hit Gajeel instead, who used his iron as a rod to attract it.
Natsu's rage bubbled up when he saw his nakama fall to the ground. He release a series of attacks yet again, and this time, it successfully hit Laxus.
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"
"Fire Dragon's Sword Horn!"
"Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!"
"Fire Dragon's Crushing Fang!"
"Roar of the Fire Dragon!"
"Fire Dragon's Flame Elbow!"
Hit after hit, Freed and Levy could only watch in amazement and awe as Natsu pushed back Laxus of all people! Finally, Natsu landed the final blow to the nearly unconcious blonde.
"Flame Lotus: Exploding Flame Blade!"
And with that, Laxus fell to the ground and Fairy Tail's battle royal was over.
Fortunately for Fairy Tail, Master Makarov pulled through from the near death experience. Everyone was bandaged up, Natsu and Gajeel the worst of them all. Even Laxus and Lucy, the instigators, weren't that injured as compared to the two idiots.
However, what shocked most of them was that the Master declared for his two grandchildren to be excommunicated. Natsu tried to defend them but no one really understood him with bandages on his mouth and promptly ignored him.
The two blondes gracefully accepted their punishment as they said goodbye to the crying Raijinshu, who were allowed to stay in the guild, granted that they make it up to everyone.
The Fantasia Parade went on and as both Laxus and Lucy went by, they saw their Jiji do the signature Fairy Tail hand sign. This action made them both cry as they exited the town of Magnolia.
"Ne, Nii-chan, we're going to come back someday, aren't we?"
"Yes, lil' sis, we definitely will."
