Jaune Arc: Vampire Hunter
Prologue: Divine Bloodline
There is a legend in remnant, one that tells the story of an ancient evil, one not born from gods nor man but from something beyond human comprehension. This evil plagued the night and every hundred years it returns to wage a war against those who dare brave the darkness.
And now the time for the return of this evil has come, and the servants of darkness gathered everything that was needed to complete the ritual, one such servant had taken a trip towards the Grimm lands where the great witch Salem awaited.
The hooded figure knelt before the throne of the great witch and bowed his head, Salem watched on with the slightest hint of curiosity. This one seemed to be younger than his predecessors "It is a great honor to be granted an audience before you my lady"
"Flattery and manners… your cabal certainly has evolved, I remember the last time one of yours walked in here and made demands. He was sent back with a missing arm and a missing leg"
Looking up towards her, the boy took off his hood. Dark red hair cascaded down his shoulders as his yellow eyes seemed to shine with the lights of the room "A lesson we have not forgotten, where it not for your great generosity we would not have been able to bring our lord back from oblivion"
Salem nodded "And now you kneel before me, searching for what? An alliance?"
Shaking his head the man stood up and reached into his coat, placing a small scroll on the floor the man gestured towards the outside "We know you do not care for us, but the resurrection of our lord has always proven beneficial to your own agenda. I assume that is also the only reason I am alive at this moment"
"Go on boy"- "This scroll contains information on the city of Vale, blackmail material and information on the weak points of the city" Salem narrowed her eyes "Ah, so you knew of my plans for Vale, may I ask how?"
The boy simply shrugged "There was a vision given to one of our witches, she saw Vale in flames as Beacon was destroyed under the strength of the Grimm" this made Salem smile, a twisted smile that made lesser men flee in fear "Fate. Always such a tricky thing, but this prophecy I do like. What is it you want from me then? You did not walk all the way here just to aid me"
"You have in your position something that belonged to our master, it would be a catalyst to accelerate his resurrection" Salem chuckled as she brought out a small box "Ah yes, my children collected this after your lords latest attempt at returning to the land of the living. Such a horrible thing too, I think you can hear it still beating" the soft sound of a heartbeat reached the boy as he stood up.
"May…"-"Take it" Salem threw the box at his feet "Your master's wake always bring fear and destruction. Something that I can always use to my advantage. But know this James Fortner if I even suspect you of stepping out of line no amount of dark magic will bring you or your master back" James bowed his head as he retrieved the box with his master's heart on it.
As he exited the fortress a wicked smile made its way onto his lip, the Witch had no idea. The vision that their group had been having for decades now only showed one thing and one thing only, the city and the academy all falling to pieces underneath the shadow of his master's castle. Dracula's return was imminent and the world will once again feel fear strike their hearts and mind.
"Come on! Faster Jaune" practice made perfect, that was something that Jaune had heard many times.
He prepared to strike and adjusted his footing, but once again his strike met air as he was pushed to the side by a blur of red and gold.
"Not bad! That was close."
That saying could not be more personified if it tried, because if it tried, they would be defeated by Pyrrah Nikos. Every movement so precise it seemed machine-like and yet so fluid that it resembled water, he was lucky that she had not only forgiven him for acting like a jackass but offered to train him.
Help him catch up to his peers and not be a burden to anyone, but the childish side of him complained that he had to get beat up every single night like a sad punching bag "Think fast!" his shield barely had the chance to block the attack as he was sent back against one of the walls.
Groaning in pain he felt his aura soothe his wound as he smiled at Pyrrah "Sorry! Did I hit you too hard?" genuine concern could be heard on her voice making Jaune chuckle a bit "Nah I think I am getting better at this! Could barely feel it, all thanks to you Pyr!" a small blush made its way into the unbeatable champion's cheeks at the nickname that he had given her.
"M-my pleasure, I am glad to help"
The moon shone down on them from the windows as the pale light made Jaune's blue eyes shine with it. It had been long since he had stared for so long at the moon, it reminded him of… his sister.
"Is everything ok Jaune?" the concerned voice of his partner snapped him out of his thoughts "Oh yeah, sorry I was just lost in memory there for a bit, sorry about that. I… I think I want to take a small walk, lots of things happened this week hehe"
Pyrrah narrowed her eyes but nodded at him nonetheless "I will wait for you back in our room then" and with that Jaune was alone. Taking his time he walked along the empty halls of Beacon as the moon to shine down on him even brighter, no matter how shattered it was it was always there.
A reminder of her "Oh Julia, where are you?" he remembered the fight she had with father like it was yesterday, how she had sworn that she will never carry the name Arc for as long as she drew breath and then she ran into the night. Surprisingly his mother was the one that had steadied his father worries.
"She will be fine I know she will" she had said and after that he also left home but unlike Julia he had taken father's sword and last name. A small part of him had hoped to see her here in Beacon, he and his twin had always wanted to be heroes and Julia had everything a huntress in training could need, but alas here he was Jaune Arc hunter in training.
But there was still that feeling of worry that he nested in his heart for what his family had called his better half, but it was her life all he could do was pray that everything was fine and that he would see her again some time soon. Out of the corner of his eye Jaune watched something move, a shadow. A putrid smell reached his nose and he felt everything grow cold around him "W-what?"
The windows shattered and the light of the moon was suffocated as smoke began to enter the halls of Beacon, Jaune gasped as a terrifyingly tall scythe cut through reality and allowed its master to walk among the leaving, Jaune suppressed a scream as a creature from hell stepped towards him. Red orbs that seemed to be his eyes looked down at him with an unreadable expression "Mortal…" The creature sniffed the air and the grip on his weapon tightened "No, a Belmont"
With a scream that destroyed what remained of the glass the creature launched itself at Jaune and shattered the wall with his body. Jaune gasped as his aura flared, the creature let out a maniacal laugh and flew into the air "Oh such exquisite pain, so much agony" slamming Jaune against the floor he was finally let go.
Jaune scrambled away from him as the creature seemed to fin him funny "What are you?"
"I am know by many names child, Inevitable, The End but you… you know me as Death" Jaune felt his blood run cold when those words left the skull of the monster, death?
The large skeleton sniffed the air once again and began to ascend "Its here Belmont, cant you feel its pull? Are you guarding this? What sorry excuse for a guardian you are" Death declared as hunters and students all ran towards the scene. Shots where fired at the creature as Death simply seemed to be annoyed by the attention he was getting, with the flick of his wrist his scythe was launched towards the hunters, purple flames erupted from it as the weapon flung back and shattered the aura of anyone it came into contact with.
"Begone mortals" Death commented as he kept moving towards Ozpin's office, shattering the elevator into pieces and ignoring the brave hunters and huntresses that did his best to stop him. To the surprise of Death the young blonde was still following him, he thought this one was going to run just like the last one. But it was not important nothing mattered other than getting the last piece they needed and the most heavily guarded one too, the only reason he had come himself is because he did not trust the mortals to do the job.
As he entered into the Headmasters office he was greeted by a familiar soul "Ah so you still walk among us?"
"Death" Ozpin said as he glared at the foul monster "Sooner or later your inevitable end will come, no matter how hard you try. Not today ofcourse, you still need to suffer some more" Death did not fight Ozpin, he did not wish to. It was better to see him suffering like this; he remembered how the soul inside Ozpin had begged him to destroy the soul of his once beloved and now here it was after all this years still struggling on.
How deliciously cruel
"My master is soon to return, you know what is to happen. Step aside young man" Death said as he raised skeletons to rampage through the office, ransacking everything that might seem like it belong to Dracula. Ozpin watched on with hate but did not move a muscle, a permanent death here meant that Salem would go unopposed, and he could not abandon humanity. He still needed time to stop her.
Time to plan something that will permanently solve the problem, a way to get rid off her. But how could he do it when even Death ignored his plea?
A skeleton shrieked as it raised a box from towards its master. "Ah, how glorious! Now things can truly get started" with one last look at Ozpin Death began his descend "Till we meet again young man, oh and the one you keep locked away? Hehe you can't fool death for that long."
Ozpin watched the creature leave with an unreadable look on his face, Glynda and Qrow appeared from the shadows, both looked at the headmaster with a concerned look on their face "Death… Ozpin are you okay?" Qrow was the first one to react, a small nod followed Glynda looked down the elevator "And what of the students? Are they safe?"
Walking back to his desk Ozpin pulled the cameras and nothing out of this world could be seen in the academy "Death has already left this world. Gone back to his plane of shadows, but what concerns me more now is that another catastrophe is soon to follow. If Death's master is really going to be waking up soon then we must arm ourselves and prepare for war against the creatures of the night"
"What type of creature are we facing that even Death serves him?"-"Something far too ancient and cruel, I need to brush up on some history. Please check on the wounded and the destruction" Qrow nodded as he darted out of the room, no doubt heading to check if his nieces where fine. Glynda took some time before she left "What's wrong?"
The blonde witch looked at the tore down bookcase and then back at the headmaster with a worried expression "What did they take?"
"A fang"
A/N: Recently got into Castlevania after playing some of the games and really wanted to write something about it after watching someone play Lament of Innocence. Thank you for reading!
