As the title suggests this is a turning point in the story where the incident in the last chapter prompts Joe to decide to seriously consider Dana as a romantic prospect remembering his lonliness was what caused him to snap.

As the two bullies scurried away, Joe turned to the Mutant Woman who had been able to get the thugs to vamoose with with a quiet rebuke. "Merci..." He said quietly.

As Joe finished his Salad Nicoise, (He had only gotten one or two bites in before he got totally distracted by Dana devouring her food in only a few moments) He realized it was also probobly the disaproving stares of the other diners that got the bullies to stop, this was not the same as last time, last time the three men had cornered him alone in a dark alley late at night, this time the bullies approached in the middle of the day in front of plenty of witnesses it was probobly the fact he was dining with a Mutant that drew their attention in the first place...But still...He felt he was more to blame for again being a celebraty athlete with a Mutant is going to draw more attention than just some random nobody with a Mutant...

Thinking back to that night he snapped and violently beat the three men who had been mocking him, he remembered the other reason he had agreed to this arrangment with the Mutant Doberman, the fact that his outburst had happened because he felt he couldn't vent his feelings with his fellow boxers, but thinking back to just a few minutes ago, how he had been laughing with Dana over assuaging her embaressment over her lapse in table manners and he realized that for the first time in a long time he was able to get his mind off himself and just be in the moment! For so long he had been stewing in his his misery about what a loser boxer he was...But these Mutant Girl, seemingly as innocent and sincere as an animal...Seeming to be lacking a human woman's concern about the social status of her man which is why Joe believed no human woman wanted to be with him. He found himself liking her strange ways, he found her animal mannerisms endearing, really was the fact that she had a muzzled face and a tail so bad compared to what seemed to be she was much less harsh and judgemental than most human women?

After Joe paid the bill for both of them, he asked Dana to walk with him.

They walked side by side, Joe blushed as he didn't know quite what to do, the traditional French thing of taking her arm in his felt far to forward at this point in the relationship even simply holding hands felt like a bit too much at the moment, no if they were to get to that point, Joe knew he had to let her know that he was willing to take the next step.

"I am sorry about that..." He said

"About those two jerks?" Dana asked cocking her head in typical canine fashion.

"Oui." Joe said "It was probobly because you were with me, it probably wouldn't have happened if with anyone else..."

Dana had looked up Glass Joe's history after she saw the news report of him turning himself in, she already sensed this was about his shame he felt about his lousy boxing career...Part of the reason she had chosen to help him in the first place.

"Joe..." She said softly

"Dana..." Joe realized he was feeling more at ease calling her by her name "...I want to meet again tomorrow, my place? We still need you to gather information in Forest but...I just would like to talk with you...Alone..."

Dana felt her tail wagging a mile a minute but otherwise she was able to keep it cool as she said "of course..." On the inside however she was giggling like a schoolgirl!

So bringing it back to Joe still feels guilty about what he did and deciding to take the next step by inviting Dana over just to see if he can talk about his feelings with her better than he could with his friends
