Chapter 3
"Traveler! Hey Traveler! Wake up!" said Paimon. She was shaking Aether awake. Aether woke up from his nap.
"Paimon, is something wrong?" Aether asked.
"No but there's a letter for you." Paimon said as she pointed to a small envelope lying on the grass.
Aether picked it up and opened the envelope.
"Who's it from?" Paimon asked, looking at the letter.
"It's from Wriothesley." Aether told her.
Dear Travler and Paimon,
It seems Fontaine is in a bit of a crisis once again. A sea dragon has been seen inside the Fortress of Meropiede. It escaped, thankfully not causing any further damage. If you have the time, I would like to chat with you about this situation.
Wriothesley
"A sea dragon? What would a sea dragon be doing in the Fortress of Meropiede?" Paimon asked Aether.
Aether thought about this. A sea dragon? The only sea dragon they know is Neuvillette. Could it be?
"We should probably go check it out." Aether suggested.
"Yeah. That might be a great idea." Paimon said.
Wriothesley placed down his cup of tea.
"As you can see, we haven't seen any sightings of dragons in centuries so it was quite a shock to see one out of the blue." Wriothesley said.
"So, what did the dragon look like?" Paimon asked.
Wriothesley sat back in his chair as he remembered the description of the dragon. "It's scales were blue, with two legs and two large wings. It had fins on its body and tail. It also had horns and white fur along its serpent body."
"Wow, that sounds like a very scary dragon." Paimon said.
Aether stayed silent. Something about the description sounded familiar. Then he had a thought.
"Did the fins have any sort of markings?" Aether asked.
"Why yes. They seemed very familiar." Wriothesley said, thinking.
It has to be Neuvillette. I have to talk to Paimon after this.
"Where did the dragon go?" Paimon asked.
"It went back to the sea. Probably best it stays there. We don't need another catastrophe in Fontaine." Wriothesley said.
"Think we could investigate this situation for you?" Aether asked.
"Sure, why not?" You did so much for us here in the Fortress of Meropiede." Wriothesley said.
Paimon looked at Aether with a curious look. Aether seems to be cooking up something. Wonder what it is?
"Thank you for your time Wriothesley." Aether said.
"It's nothing. Just keep me updated on the dragon investigation." Wriothesley said.
"You got it!" Paimon said.
